Hospital
Mark tells Kate that he and Sienna broke up, so he sold his abseiling business and moved back. He asks about her, saying he heard that she and Mason broke up. He asks if she's seeing anyone, but she doesn't answer, saying she has to see the Willises. He looks thoughtful.
Hospital: Josh's room
It's 3:10 in the morning. Terese is asleep, and Josh tries to adjust his pillow. He groans in pain, and she wakes up. She suggest he take more painkillers, but he says he's worried the surgery won't work. The Games are only 5 months away. Terese assures him that the surgeon has worked on lots of Olympians.
TERESE: Before you know it, you'll be back in the pool, stinking of chlorine.
They both look worried.
Harold's
Amber doesn't know whether to go to see Josh before the operation. She wonders if he'll throw her out. Lauren is sure he'll want to see her. Lauren thinks Josh didn't want her to see him in pain, while Lou reckons it was the surgical gowns! Mason offers to go with her, but she snippily asks why Josh would want him there, and Mason leaves. Lauren tells her not to blame Mason, but she says it's his fault Josh is in hospital.
LOU: Oh come on. He's not four years old.
AMBER: He kept pushing him until he cracked.
LOU: Sweetheart, he knew what he was doing. He's got to take responsibility for his own actions. We all do.
Hospital - Josh's room
Dr Croker explains the surgery he is going to carry out. He says that resetting the humerus should be straightforward. He's also got to repair tears in the rotator cuffs, which is more tricky. Brad asks if Josh will swim again, and doctor says from the scans there's nothing to suggest otherwise.
DR CROKER: It's looking like a pretty standard procedure.
After he goes, Brad says it's good that they waited, and Terese agrees that he seems confident. Josh asks his parents to call Amber.
(Later)
Josh apologises to Amber, telling her that he was scared about not being able to swim. She's pleased he's telling the truth now. She promises to be there when he wakes up.
Lassiter's reception
Mark is at reception when Kate comes by. She explains that she's currently living at the penthouse with Paul, although she doesn't say why. Mark says he's stayed over because he wants to catch up with Kyle. She tells him Kyle's busy, and she hardly ever sees him. Mark asks her for breakfast, but she makes an excuse saying she's out for brunch.
Hospital Reception
Josh is being wheeled to theatre, and Amber goes off for a drink. Brad asks Terese if she's angry with him. She tells him that she spent all night watching her little boy struggling with excruciating pain, which he shouldn't have had to go through. Brad claims it was Josh's decision to wait, but Terese says Brad pressured him.
BRAD: You heard Dr Croker. This is a standard procedure. It's going to be smooth sailing from here.
TERESE: Yes, but something could still go wrong.
Brad assures her it will be fine, and they hug.

Lou asks Mason if he's upset at what Amber said. Mason says it's hard not to be. Lou says the only person at fault is Josh.
LOU: The kid's got an ego the size of Western Australia. Not your fault he rose to a challenge.
Imogen has wandered in and overheard.
IMOGEN: He's right. Only I'd say his ego is the size of the whole of Australia.
Mason is really pleased to see her, especially when she says she wanted to see how he was. Lou remembers he wanted to read his paper outside. Imogen asks Mason if he really thought she would blame him. He says maybe, and he's been wondering if he messed up the rig. She says that Josh always wants to be the best and points out that he has done a lot of abseiling in Mount Isa. He thanks her for the pep talk, and they kiss.
Hospital - reception
Imogen arrives, avoiding the question of where she'd been. Dr Croker says Josh is doing fine. However they discovered that his injuries were more serious than they thought, and he's going to retain stiffness in the joint. Brad asks if it will affect his swimming. The doctor says it's highly unlikely he will be able to compete at the top level.
BRAD: He's 17. Surely his body's going to bounce back from this.
DR CROKER: These types of injuries rarely have a happy ending, regardless of age.
The doctor offers to talk to Josh, but Terese says it's best coming from them. Brad shouts after him that he's wrong, because Josh is special.
Hospital - Josh's room
Brad and Terese sit with a groggy Josh. He asks how it went, and Terese takes a deep breath and starts to speak. Brad interrupts and says it went great: he's going to make a full recovery and he'll be back in the pool in a few weeks. Josh thinks it's awesome. Terese wants to speak to Brad outside.
Hospital - reception
Brad and Terese argue. He says they can't tell him he has no hope of recovery, and she says they can't just lie to him. He tells her to trust him on this. She sighs and shakes her head as Brad goes back into the room.
Harold's
Imogen has told Mason the situation, and he wishes there was something he could do. She says there isn't. She has to leave to video call Piper, but she wants to pick up where they left off earlier.
Kate is eating(alone) when Georgia comes in. She says that she presumes Kyle told Kate about the baby, so she wants to get the awkward conversation out of the way. Kate looks gobsmacked.
GEORGIA: It's OK. You don't need to pretend.
KATE: So by baby, you mean your baby?
GEORGIA: Kyle didn't tell you, did he?
KATE: (tearfully) No, he didn't.
GEORGIA: OK. This is really awkward now.
KATE: No, it's great. Congratulations.
GEORGIA: Thanks. I know that it's not great timing with you and Kyle getting together ...
An upset Kate gets up and leaves. Mark happens to be outside Lassiter's, and when he spots her, he hugs her and she cries on his shoulder. She tells him there's nothing he can do, and she goes to the penthouse.
Penthouse
Kate tells Paul that Kyle must have broken up with her because Georgia is pregnant. He always wanted to be a father and she can't give him that. She goes to bed, and Mark arrives. He tells Paul that he's come to check on Kate, who was upset. Paul tells him she's going through a very emotional breakup with Kyle. Mark is shocked.
MARK: Kyle?
PAUL: Yes, Kyle. Bogan from Frankston. Ring any bells?
Paul tells him that Kate is upset and the last thing she needs is an ex-boyfriend hanging around.
Hospital - Josh's room
Josh is surprised to see Mason, who has brought some chocolates. He apologises for everything.
MASON: You seem to be handling it really well. I mean, I would be shattered if I found out my career was over.
Josh looks horrified and asks him to repeat it, and Mason tries to backtrack and say he must have misunderstood.
JOSH: What do you know that I don't?
MASON: Apparently your shoulder is never going to get better.
Josh starts shouting, so Brad and Terese rush in to see what's happening. Josh asks if it's true. Brad has to admit there's a high probability it won't get back to what it was. He adds that he thinks doctors get it wrong all the time. Josh is furious that he may have lost everything because of Mason.
JOSH: (to Mason) You've hated me ever since I moved into the street. (to Terese) It's true. It's true. He saw a perfect opportunity to sabotage me and he took it. (to Mason)That's what losers like you do, isn't it?
Terese shepherds Mason out of the room. Brad tells Josh he mustn't give up. He knows that Josh is determined and works hard. Brad believes he can be at the games, but Josh must believe too. Josh realises he's got a tough few months ahead.
Ramsay Street
Brad introduces himself to Mark, and asks again about what might have happened. Mark still doesn't want to get involved. Brad presses him, and Mark that beginners often don't use the equipment correctly. Brad asks if it's possible whoever set up the equipment might have been at fault. Mark concedes that it's the most likely explanation. Brad scowls in the direction of No 32.
No 32
Mason apologises to Brad, but Brad hasn't come for that. Mason is taken aback that Brad believes what Josh said in the hospital. Brad's not convinced, saying that Mason's jealousy may have got the better of him. Mason reminds Brad he wasn't there, so Brad points out Mason set up the equipment. Mason is about to answer.
BRAD: Save your excuses for court, because you're going to need all the help you can get.
