Georgia and Gem come in; they're talking about Georgia's music career. Georgia is apprehensive about putting herself out there. She admits it's been a challenge balancing her singing and nursing, and Gem says she should be proud of herself. Gem recalls how she wanted to be a famous dancer, but says at least one of them is fulfilling their dream. Georgia says Gem can share her dream instead.
Susan, who has been keeping a low profile at a nearby table, tries to sneak out without talking to them, but Gem calls her over. Susan says she doesn't have an answer about the teaching job yet, making the excuse that she has to go through the board and follow protocol. Gem says she hopes to hear from her later, but Susan is non- committal and makes a quick exit.

Sonya questions Callum about how things are with Bailey. Cal still thinks Bailey's an idiot, but Sonya thinks he's being stubborn and tries to persuade Cal to be more mature and let bygones be bygones. Cal shrugs it off and goes to school, as Gem comes in. She fills Sonya in on the latest about the job, admitting she didn't think Susan was impressed with her in the interview, due to her last reference not being that great. Gem comments that everything's an uphill struggle at present, leading to Sonya to let slip that Toadie told her about Gem's accident. Gem goes quiet, but then says the accident's taught her she can't control fate, saying she can't make Susan employ her if she doesn't want to.

Chris is reading the news on his laptop - in particular, an article about Hudson, saying that his sentencing hearing's been brought forward. (If you freeze- frame it, you can also read about Don Cotter's involvement in Hudson's cover- up - he has been implicated, the story says, but hasn't been charged so far.) Sheila comes in, and Chris tells her Hudson's hearing is next week. He says he feels he'd like to go, but isn't sure whether Hudson will want him there.
Sheila notices the back door's been left open overnight and starts getting panicky about it. Chris insists it wasn't him, but says if it makes Sheila feel better he'll check the doors every night from now on to make sure they're locked. Sheila feels like she's overreacted but Chris tells her it's natural she'd be jumpy after her run- in with Mr Creepy the other night.
Erinsborough High School
Sonya pops in to pay Susan a visit. She asks Susan if she could keep an eye on Cal and Bailey following their fall- out, to ensure it doesn't impact on their schoolwork. Susan says she can do better than that, and will try to make them see sense. But Sonya has ulterior, stickybeak motives, and asks Susan if she followed up Gem's references, saying that she had a personality clash with her previous principal but that she didn't do anything wrong. Susan tries to remain professional by not going into any detail about it. Sonya claims not to be trying to influence Susan's decision, but just wants Gem to get a fair go.
In the Only Classroom, Bailey is randomly delivering a lecture on mitosis to his classmates, who look suitably enthralled. Cal sits at the back of the class stewing, until he finally snaps and tells Bailey to stop spouting verbal diarrhoea. Bailey gets mad and tells Cal to get lost. At this point Susan arrives - she's covering the biology class once again. She sets an assignment on mitosis and meiosis, and tells them they'll be working in pairs. Surprise, surprise, she's put Cal and Bailey together. Susan sniggers as Cal and Bailey express annoyance about their pairing.
In the corridor, Cal and Bailey argue about the assignment, as they refuse to go to one another's houses to work on it. Bailey asks Cal why he's still upset with him.
CALLUM: You only ever acted like my friend so you could get access to girls.
BAILEY: You don't actually believe that?
CALLUM: I'm your funny, icebreaking sidekick. You need me because you're too shy and pathetic to make the first move. You know, I am the Ryan Reynolds to your Jason Bateman.
BAILEY: You have lost it. You also watch way too many chick- flicks for a dude.
Callum storms off.
Harold's Store
Cal is working on his assignment, and Gem asks how it's going.
CALLUM: It'd be so much easier if my partner hadn't been a knob and had a hissy- fit.
Gem quickly guesses that Cal's problems with Bailey run deeper than the assignment.
CALLUM: Okay, so you and Georgia were besties. Did you ever have a big bust- up?
GEM: Nothing could come between Georgia and I. So if you have that type of friendship with Bailey, don't throw it away.
She tells him to confront his problems with Bailey head- on, but with less attitude than before, and Cal resolves to give it a go. Susan overhears this conversation while ordering a coffee, and is quietly impressed with Gem's advice- giving skills.

Chris is at work when Sheila pulls up; she's made him lunch to apologise for being so paranoid this morning about the back door being unlocked. Chris accepts the lunch, but says it's fine - he understands. Chris explains he's trying to suck up to his boss Danni, in order to secure time off work for Hudson's hearing, and Sheila leaves him to it. But as she goes back to her car, she sees a man standing outside Grease Monkeys, apparently taking photos of her. She rushes back to tell Chris, but he's gone inside - and when she looks back over the road, the man has gone.
Erinsborough High School
Susan has called Gem in to see her. It turns out all Toadie and Sonya's lobbying has paid off - Gem has got the job. However, Susan does ask her about her last principal, explaining his reference didn't give her a ringing endorsement. Gem says the principal's teaching methods were very conservative, and so they never hit it off and Gem left to pursue a career in the city - which of course Susan laps up, and she tells Gem she understands. They begin sorting out all the necessary paperwork for her to start work.
Lassiter's Lake
Bailey is reading on a bench when Cal turns up, and apologises for being a jerk. Bailey is sceptical at first, but Cal suggests they forget everything that they've argued about and start again. Another brief argument follows, and Bailey asks Cal why he's apologising.
CALLUM: Because I honestly couldn't think of a reason why we can't be friends again. Except for that dumb haircut, but I'll get over it.
Bailey smiles and agrees to be friends again, and the pair walk off together.
No 30 (Georgia's bedroom)
Gem tells Georgia the good news about her getting the teaching job, and the pair decide to go out to celebrate. But before that, Georgia suggests Gem call her mum Coral, to tell her about the job. Gem doesn't seem keen on this idea, and makes excuses to call her later on. Georgia says how glad she is that Gem's staying in town, and they hug - but Gem looks troubled.
In the living area, Cal and Bailey work on the mitosis and meiosis project, but Cal is distracted and keeps finding diversions, because science isn't his thing. Bailey gets gradually more annoyed until they break out into another argument, with Bailey telling Cal to admit that he only wanted to be friends again so Bailey would do all the work on their assignment.
CALLUM: I'm not admitting anything.
BAILEY: Not even that you're just a little glad about what happened between Rani and I?
CALLUM: What?!
BAILEY: You think I deserved it, don't you?
But before Cal can answer, Bailey has packed up his stuff, saying he'll do the science assignment on his own, reminding Cal that they're being marked separately. Cal says he wants to do it on his own anyway, and Bailey storms out.
Harold's Store
Chris is on the phone to Danni, who's told him he can have time off for Hudson's hearing. He relays this news to Sonya, who says she hopes it all goes well with Hudson. Chris leaves, as Susan comes in. She tells Sonya that Gem got the job - in part thanks to Sonya and Toadie's testimony, but also because she heard Gem talking to Callum earlier about Bailey, and was impressed by her ability to communicate with him. She was also impressed by Gem's keenness to have a career in the city. Sonya seems surprised by this, as if she knows different, but smiles along. Susan leaves and Sonya looks puzzled.
Lassiter's Complex
Sheila sees the man with the camera, who's once again pointing it at her. She rushes over to confront him, accusing him of following her - and grabs his camera, before flinging it to the ground so it smashes. Sheila rushes off, looking very upset, as the man tries to retrieve the bits of camera from the floor.
No 30 (Georgia's bedroom)
Gem is choosing outfits for the girls' evening out, when Georgia comes in. She's called Coral, and passes the phone to Gem so she can tell her the good news. Gem looks worried, before asking Georgia if she could leave her to talk to her mum. Once Georgia's gone, Gem confirms to Coral that she got a job.
GEM: No, it's not too soon... I didn't do those things! ... I don't care what they said I did! ... People like me here, Mum. I have a chance to start again, and I'm gonna take it.
Clearly upset, Gem tells Coral she has to go, and hangs up.
Charlie's
Sheila calls the police station, hoping to speak to Matt, while Chris listens. Sheila has concluded that the guy with the camera could be the same man as the one who followed her in the car recently. However, as she's waiting to speak to Matt, Kelly Merolli comes in with the camera man, whom she refers to as Mr Alkinos.
Kelly tells Sheila that the man has been to the station to report Sheila for smashing the camera, and that Matt recognised his description of her. Kelly says Sheila will have to pay for the damage. Sheila explains about the stalker in the car, but Kelly says Mr Alkinos has been overseas and only got back yesterday, therefore proving he's not the same man. He's a photography student at the TAFE, hence the camera. Kelly tells Sheila to come to the station with her.
SHEILA: Am I under arrest?
