Number 30
Georgia introduces Gemma (or Gemfish) to Kyle. Gemma says it is nice to meet Kyle, pretending they've never met, and Kyle plays along, before leaving to put the kettle on. Georgia apologises to Gemma, Kyle's not usually nervous meeting new people. Gemma and Georgia say how much they've missed each other. Gemma tells Georgia that she quit her last job, she needed a change of pace and is thinking of travelling before she works out what to do next. Georgia tries to convince Georgia to get a job so she can stay here in Erinsborough. She then insists that Gemma stay here with her. Kyle looks concerned as Georgia and Gemma get way too excited about being reunited and start shrieking excitedly.
Number 30 - Gemma's bedroom
Kyle helps Gemma set up the spare bed, and asks her why she called herself Ursula earlier. Gemma says she's sorry she lied, Ursula is a friend of hers, and she borrowed her suitcase and thought it easier to lie when he saw the tag. Kyle asks why she just lied to Georgia that they hadn't met before. Gemma says she was so embarrassed to be flirting with a guy she's just met and she didn't want Georgia to know. She asks Kyle to keep it between them, and Kyle agrees.
Lassiters
Mason bumps into Meg, the customer he went on a date with a week or so ago. He begins to talk to her about the other night, when Paul walks past and sees them. From Paul's perspective we don't hear the rest of the conversation. After finishing talking to Mason, Meg goes up to reception and informs Terese that she'll be checking out later this afternoon, two weeks earlier than expected. After Meg leaves, Paul tells Terese that Mason has earned his last strike, he's just lost them two weeks of business. Terese doesn't think he should jump to conclusions just because he saw them talking. Terese thought that Jack's death made Paul think about how he treats people. He's constantly changing from being nice to people and off on one of his vendetta's, and Kate won't be happy with him. Paul says this has nothing to do with Kate or him, Mason has been nothing but trouble and he can't wait to get rid of him.
Erinsborough High School
Susan thanks Kate for covering a Biology class. Susan says that the Biology teacher has just emailed her this morning to give his notice from Japan. He met someone on holiday and decided to stay on. They tut about his lack of professionalism, and laugh about his assumption that Susan would be able conjure up a Science teacher out of thin air. It's fine, because Kate is happy to cover for classes, on top of her already busy schedule. Kate gleefully says she'll prep at night because she has much more time on her hands now she and Mason have broken up. (I don't know where to begin with the ridiculousness of this teacher conversation). She says she's doing well since the break up though. Kate says bye to Susan and leaves, before receiving a phone call. She's stunned by what she hears.
Number 30
Gemma and Toadie hug, as Toadie asks how Auntie Coral and Tad are. Gemma says Tad is being way too big and successful to even email her. Sonya asks where Gemma will be staying, Georgia says she invited her to stay as long as she likes and hope it is alright, Sonya laughs that it is fine. Gemma also says she's reconsidered and is thinking of staying in Erinsborough now.
Sonya takes Toadie aside and questions him about Gemma saying that she was only on holiday and now deciding to move here. Toadie thinks she must have found the idea of spending more time with them appealing. Sonya doesn't look convinced.
Lassiters
Kate meets Terese, saying she just heard from Paul that he was going to fire Mason. Kate assures Terese that Mason didn't do anything with that guest, and there's no way Mason would lie to her about I. Terese says she's keeping an open mind until she's spoken to Mason. Kate says this proves that Paul only hired Mason because she was dating him. Terese assures Kate that Mason has a contract and it can't be terminated without justification. Meg comes by to check out, and Terese serves her. Terese asks for feedback of their service, and asks if they did anything wrong. Meg says they didn't, but she did. She came on to the junior concierge, she knows he had to report it, and she'd like to apologise to Mason as she'd hate to think she got him in any trouble. Terese says she'll smooth it over, while Kate overhears.
Harold's
Karl says Georgia and Gemma look like sisters. Karl asks if Gemma is a nurse, but she says she'd rather die than set foot in another hospital. She dismissively says it's a long story. Karl says it was nice to meet her and leaves. Kate enters and is thrilled to meet Gemma, as Georgia has said so much about her. They chat about both being former dancers, and suggest going out sometime. Georgia is pleased that Gemma and Kate are getting on, they have so much in common, they're both gorgeous and both teachers. Kate is pleased to hear Gemma's a teacher, and is hopeful that she teaches Chemistry and Biology. As luck would have it, those are Gemma's main subjects (rolls eyes at Neighbours writers). As fate would have it, Gemma is looking for a job. Georgia tells Kate she should set up an interview for Gemma or introduce her to Susan in person. Kate isn't sure at first, but after Georgia excitedly begs, Kate agrees.
Erinsborough High School
Gemma arrives for her interview (seriously?!) Kate apologises to Susan for being a bit pushy, she only met Gemma this afternoon.
SUSAN: I won't blame you if she turns out to be a monster, I just won't hire her.
Susan enters her office and sits down with Gemma for her interview, and asks Gemma what drew her to teaching in the first place. Gemma says she wanted to be a dancer but that didn't work out, she came crashing down to reality and that's when she went into teaching. Susan doesn't seem too impressed with the answer, and asks Gemma why she's interested in Erinsborough, and why she left her last post. Gemma says she needed a change, but she misses her students a lot.
Lassiters
Paul throws out some bed sheets that have been ruined, blaming the guests, when Terese tells him that it was a faulty washing machine and he has a habit of jumping to the wrong conclusion. Paul suggests that Meg was covering for Mason. Terese said there are no grounds for firing Mason, and that Meg was very complementary of Mason.
TERESE: Perhaps we should offer him a pay rise?
PAUL: Over my dead body.
TERESE: I'm sure we can arrange that.
As Paul leaves, Mason arrives and thanks Terese for helping clear the situation up with the guest. Terese says to thank Kate for standing up for him. Mason doesn't understand why Kate dumped him and now she's looking out for him. Terese leaves to take a bottle of champagne up to the roof as a man is proposing to his girlfriend using skywriting. Terese loves a romantic grand gesture. Mason goes to take the bed sheets out to the bin, when he stops and has an idea.
Erinsborough High School
Karl enters Susan's office with a bottle of wine, just after she finishes leaving a message with someone. He says its past dinner time and he came to find her. Susan apologises, explaining the situation with the Science teacher. She tells him that Gemma applied for the job, and says she seemed very nervous in her interview. Susan got the impression that Gemma was telling her what she wanted to hear, and she's left messages with Gemma's references and will have to wait to tomorrow to hear back. They head to dinner.
Number 30
Georgia and Gemma are annoying Callum (and the audience) by dancing and singing along to a pop song.
CALLUM: Is this what I have to look forward to when Nell grows up?
TOADIE: Oh you will have moved out of home by then mate.
CALLUM: Why would I move out when I can live here for free?
SONYA: If you're not studying then you're not living here for free.
Sonya assures Gemma that they're not expecting her to pay, but Gemma says if the interview went well then she could pay board while she looks for a flat. Georgia says that she will have done well and that Susan would be able to see through the nerves. Georgia and Gemma start dancing again to another song, Callum finds it excrutiating (I'm sure he's not the only one). As Georgia and Gemma butt- bump, Gemma hurts herself. Toadie and Georgia rush to her aid, Georgia says she's alright she just needs to sit down, while Sonya looks concerned.
Ramsay Street (next morning)
Sonya asks Toadie why he reacted the way he did to Gemma hurting herself. Toadie explains that Gemma was in a quad- bike accident a while ago, it smashed up her hip and she had internal injuries. She was in a coma for a while. When she woke up from her coma, her fiancé had run off with another woman. It also ruined her chances of being a dancer. Toadie asks Sonya not to mention anything, she's sensitive about it. Sonya says she's family now, and family look out for each other. Sonya suggests that Toadie talks to Susan about the job. They spot Mason carrying a large blanket over his shoulder, putting something in the wheelie bin. They say morning, and Mason waves before marching down the road.
SONYA: There's a man on a mission. He's... he's strange.
Street beside Fitzgerald Motors
Kate and Kyle walk Bossy towards Dial- A- Kyle, walking past 'the bus stop' and the 'Bric- A- Brac' Shop. They chat about how nice Gemma is, but Kyle doesn't seem sure. They then chat about how things are going with Mason, when they spot a large sheet over a billboard sign, with 'Take Me Back Kate' written in a love heart.
Lassiters Complex
Mason runs up to Kate, asking if she's been to the Garage and seen his message. Kate says she appreciates the effort but the answer is still no. Mason says she wouldn't have stuck up for him with Paul if she didn't really have feelings. Kate says she can't just turn her feelings off for him just because they're not together anymore. Mason jumps onto a bench and shouts out 'Kate Ramsay, I love you.' He shouts he's willing to make a complete fool of himself, that's how certain he is that they belong together. Kate orders him to get down, and he does. Kate says she only has friendship feelings for him, that's it. She says they'll never get back together.
Fitzgerald Motors
Mason takes down the sheet. Kyle comes over and apologises for getting his hopes up about Kate last week. He should have kept his mouth shut, he's an idiot. Mason says he's the only idiot here.
Harold's
Susan gets off the phone from the Principal at Gemma's last school, and sits down to tell Karl. The Principal said that Gemma's leaving was a mutual decision. He seemed to clam up when Susan pressed him for details, he didn't say anything negative about Gemma, but the conversation felt odd.
Toadie arrives and starts to say how smart, clever, funny and intelligent Gemma is to Susan. Susan says that there's a process they have to follow, and tells him to leave it with her. After Toadie leaves, Karl tells Susan not to feel pressured, and asks her to trust her instincts, what do they tell her?
