Previously on Neighbours
- Mason being identified as the Lassiters robber.
- Mason explaining himself to Kate.
- Kate deciding she somehow wants to be with Mason.
- Rhiannon getting her own back on Paul!
Charlie's
Paul is trying to get his story straight with Cllr Hewitt but is told there is no money when he asks for the $10k back. He then tells Allan that he can keep the money, if the council gives its approval for the Lassiters expansion.
ALLAN: I don't know what you're talking about.
PAUL: Good, we're on the same page then.
Number 32 (next day)
Sheila comes round to moan at Lou because she isn't happy at being caught up in the Turner woes thanks to the money being in the gnome (and spending some of it on a bird table). "You sort this out!" is her parting words to Lou.
The family have Amber's birthday brekkie ready and they leave the kitchen and cut through some new part of the house out to the back yard which now boasts a swimming pool (and of course the viewers are asking when did they suddenly build a swimming pool!) complete with decking off whatever part of the house it was that they exited!
They hand Amber her cards/pressies and she is chuffed with her iPad. Amber hopes to have the day off but is told to grin and bear it.
Missing from the family brekkie is Mason and his dad thinks he's trying to patch things up with Kate.
Lassiters (Kate's room)
Mason gives Kate a get out excuse (what she said has been weighing on his mind) but she rejects his offer and the pair of them get an unwelcome early morning visitor - not room service as Kate thought but Paul! He is not amused to say the least and goes to call security until Kate stops him and pleads on Mason's behalf. "I wasn't born yesterday," Paul shouts out but Mason announces that he will leave.
Garage
Lou calls round to the garage to update Lucas/Chris on what happened with the robbery etc. While they can accept Mason's role in it (helping his sister) they are fearful of Robbo calling back seeking revenge. Chris holds a loaded gun to Lucas' head - if Mason is being kept on then he'll have to consider his position at the garage. The man in question arrives and can sense something is up, so quits before Lucas can fire him.
LOU: You can't, I've just been saving your bacon.
Mason ignores his grandfathers plea and walks away and we cut back to see Chris has a happy smirk on his face.
Number 32
Ajay thinks the best strategy for Mason's defence is to show what a good person he is and have plenty of character references starting with his employer... Mason comes home and tells his dad (and Ajay) that he quit and stops his dad from calling to plead his case. Ajay tells Matt to talk to Mason and get him to change his mind.
As if the day couldn't get worse for Matt, he gets a call from his boss at the station!
School
Bailey tells Rani that Amber has done a runner because it was getting to her. As the pair are putting up posters for the play auditions, Bailey gets hassled from some random kids and storms off.
Lassiters Complex
Snr. Const. Merolli spots Matt and Lauren heading to a table outside the store and goes to sympathise with him about his job. This is news to Lauren, so he fills her in - he got a call from the Superintendent telling him that he's suspended pending an investigation. He reassures her that Mason's situation is more important and they will get through it. Lauren isn't so sure, she wants to know how.
(Later)
Commercial break later and Cllr Hewitt stops Snr. Const. Merolli as she is making her way thought the complex to report that someone's been trying to buy his vote on the council and hands over an envelope containing $10k... Paul Robinson's cash!
Lasstiers (Paul's room)
Paul is explaining to Snr. Const. Merolli his side of the story and that he was being blackmailed into paying the money otherwise the council would reject the hotel expansion plan. She wants him to come to the station and make a formal statement but he's refusing to as he's too busy, so she puts it another way - come for a chat or they will use the evidence they have to charge him!
Charlie's
Paul is trying to get hold of his bosses to update them but is having no luck - it appears he's got a new boss but doesn't know their name. Sheila winds him up by asking what is he most angry about - "the corruption charges or the fact that you've been outsmarted?!" She also reminds him that he wouldn't be in this position if he'd treated Rhiannon better.
PAUL: She's lucky I gave her the time of day!
Sheila spots Cllr Hewitt entering and tells Paul not to make a scene, so he goes over to pull Allan aside for a quite chat! Allan explains what he did (going to the police) was self- preservation and doesn't agree with Paul's thinking that both of them count have beaten it. Paul warns Allan that his career is finished and he taunts him back by asking how he can do that from a prison cell!
Lassiters Park
Chris spots Amber sitting quietly and, asks why she is skiving school. Amber explains about seeing everyone talking as soon as she'd arrived and he can sympathise having been in that position too. She asks how Mason is getting on and is told that he'd quit - this makes Amber feel even worse than she does. Looks like Chris is now beginning to regret his smug look of earlier now as he sees the impact of Mason quitting.
Garage
Chris is in a world of his own and eventually tells Lucas about his meeting with Amber and that he now believes what Mason was saying earlier (he didn't think so initially). He now wants Mason to come back but Lucas reminds him that he was the one that quit so tells Chris to convince Mason.
School
Bailey is getting more hassle from the random bullies and it ends up in a confrontation with Bailey holding Jayden's lapels until he's forcibly shoved away and bashes face first into a locker.
Kate is first on the scene and Jayden is first in to say that Bailey hit him and she orders both to come with her as we head into the commercial break.
(Later)
Lauren checks Bailey's injuries before going into the only classroom to chat with Kate. She is sure that Bailey was provoked and the pair of them chat about all that is happening to the family and is relieved to hear that Mason still has Kate. Lauren asks her then to chat about him quitting his job (Kate doesn't look too impressed) and she replies that she will try and that she will try and smooth things over for Bailey too.
Charlie's
Kate does as requested and tries to get Mason back to work but he thinks if he does that, word will get out and it will be bad for Lucas. Paul comes in wanting a private word with his niece but she tells him no, because she's in the middle of something with Mason, but he can see they need to talk and heads off.
Kate heads over to where Paul is patiently waiting and reminds him she's old enough to make her own decisions!
PAUL: That boy is dangerous; I've seen his type before.
KATE: Do you really think you are in a position to judge?!
Paul pleads that this is different; Mason has confessed and pleaded guilty! Kate rejects his claim that it was violent adding that she sees the good in Mason just like she does in him. "If you can't support us at least try and understand," she asks. Paul shakes his head and replies "no" so plan B from Kate is not talking about Mason! She tries to change track by asking about his charges but he's not up for that one either so Kate resorts to plan C - them not talking full stop!
Number 32
Ajay calls by to give the Turner's some good news about Bailey - his case can be handled at the station and there is every likelihood he'll get a caution. Matt then spots the shiner Bailey has and Lauren explains how it occurred although he's more concerned how that might not go down well at the station!
Amber returns home and announces that the party is off and that she took the iPad back for a refund as she thinks they will need the money. "Things aren't that drastic!" Matt replies but Amber feels that with all that is happening it isn't the time to celebrate anything.
Charlie's
A blast from the past has returned - Lucy Robinson but of course Sheila doesn't know here from Adam and tells her to take a seat, she'll be with her soon as she takes over a drink to the table where Paul is sitting. He hasn't spotted his sister either but she's been listening in to the bad day Paul has had and sneaks round the far side of the bar to where he is sitting. In the meantime, Sheila does her best to cheer Paul up by reminding him that bad things comes in threes and she reckons he's had his lot for a while!
PAUL: I don't think anything else could go wrong.
LUCY: Paul!
Paul is happy stunned to see his little sister and immediately hugs her, asking the obligatory, why is she here question. She ignores that and instead does the intros with Sheila before explaining to her big brother that its not a social call, she's changed jobs now - she's head of Lassiters worldwide development.
PAUL: You left the Daniel's Corporation? And you're the new head honcho?
She confirms this but it only happened in the past couple of days. Once they get rid of Sheila, Lucy continues - she met up with Tash and Andrew in New York and they've filled her in on what's been happening ie. dodgy apartment deals, an explosion which cost 2 people their lives. He's quick to get in that Lassiters wasn't liable for that!
LUCY: I have barely stepped of the plane and I'm already hearing about bribery and corruption charges. I tell you, this is not good. Not good at all. So I'm here to sort you out Paul personally and professionally!
Tomorrow on Neighbours
- Lucy telling Paul her plan.
- Kate announcing she's moving out.
- Amber explaining why she doesn't want a party.
- Chris pleading the Turner family case to his housemates.
