No 32
Ajay is advising Matt and Lauren. Matt explains he could get the sack, a fine, a demotion or a transfer - it may not be treated so seriously apparently because it all happened in Queensland. Ajay thinks Bailey could come off lightly - particularly with it being his first offence and the money being donated to charity.
Mason is likely to be in more trouble, as it's his second brush with the law, but Ajay says there's no way he'll get 20 years, given how honest he's been with police since he confessed. Lauren points out he could still serve jail time, but Ajay says he'll do all he can to stop that happening. Ajay says he'll need character references for Mason, and also evidence that Robbo was blackmailing him into taking part in the robbery. While Ajay takes a call, Lauren tells Matt there's no way they're letting Mason go back to jail. Ajay informs them Mason has been released, and is on his way home.
Charlie's
Paul is on the phone to his dodgy councillor- chum.
PAUL: Well I'm glad you're enjoying the little bonus, Allan. Lassiter's certainly appreciates your support.
As he hangs up, Rhiannon comes in. Paul has a go at her, saying she's cost him a lot of money due to her stunt the other night. Rhiannon asks if Paul has bribed Allan to vote his way on the Eclipse project, and Paul says he'd prefer not to call it bribery but essentially admits it, blaming Rhiannon for leaving him in the lurch.
RHIANNON: You tried to pimp me out - how did I leave you in the lurch?
PAUL: Oh, come on. You honestly thought that I employed you because of your brains? Oh, God, that is priceless.
Rhiannon is visibly upset, but asks for her wages, saying it's not her fault he lied to her about the nature of the job. He grudgingly counts out the $500.
PAUL: Let's not kid ourselves that this was about some moral issue. Because we both know you'd do anything for money. It's just a question of how much.
Paul walks off, leaving Rhiannon tearful as she shoves the money into her bag.
Ramsay Street
Mason is banging on the door at No 22, where renovations are audibly ongoing. Mason is shouting, begging to talk to Kate - but Paul shows up and asks him to leave. While they're arguing, Kate comes out of the house, announcing that the builders are complaining they can hear yelling (!). Mason asks for a chance to explain, but before he gets a chance, Paul tells Kate to go back inside and pack her bags - they're moving to Lassiter's while the building work is completed. Kate does as she's told, and Paul warns Mason to stay away from her, or he'll find more ways of getting Mason in trouble. But as Mason walks forlornly away, Kate peers at him sadly from behind the curtain.
No 26 (back yard)
Rhiannon is relaxing in the new spa when Sheila comes out of the house to clear up some of Bossy's mess! Sheila asks what Rhiannon will do for a job now, offering her one at Charlie's; but Rhiannon would rather never work for Paul again. Sheila asks what's the matter, and Rhiannon admits that Paul was using her and that Allan was only after one thing from her. Sheila is horrified.
RHIANNON: It was my fault. I fell for it. I actually thought he saw something in me, you know? That I wasn't just some stupid skank. Pretty dumb, huh?
Nonetheless she tells Sheila she can now buy Jackson his Xbox, which is all that matters.
Lassiter's
Paul shows Kate into her room at the hotel, but she's upset about Mason. She tells Paul that Mason's a better person than he thinks - but Paul says it doesn't matter as he'll be going to jail, and tells Kate to forget about him.
No 26
The phone rings and Chris takes the call - it's Rhiannon's son Jackson. Chris wishes him happy birthday; but when Jackson asks to speak to Rhiannon, she gestures for Chris to say she's not around, and he obliges. Rhiannon rushes off into the garden.
SHEILA: What's Miss Congeniality done now?
Chris and Sheila wonder why Rhiannon doesn't want to talk to her son, and why she's only just bought him his birthday present (the Xbox) when his birthday was ages ago. Outside, Rhiannon looks sad.
Lassiter's (Kate's room)
Amber tells Kate that Mason does love her; he only got involved in the attempted robbery to protect his family. Amber asks Kate if she can forgive Mason, but Kate says it's not about that, but whether they should be together. Kate doesn't know whether they should.
No 26 (garden)
Sheila tries to get to the bottom of why Rhiannon didn't want to talk to Jackson, and offers her a friendly ear. Sheila admits she's surprised Rhiannon could leave Jackson in Mount Isa - she must really miss him. Tearfully, Rhiannon admits she does, very much, but admits she's struggling as a parent. Jackson's birthday was four weeks ago, the day before she came to Erinsborough. She had spent all the money she had saved for his present on a wild night out, and ashamed, decided it would be better for Jackson if she got out of his life altogether.
Sheila comforts Rhiannon, admitting she often felt like running away when her kids were young. She tells Rhiannon that being a mum is the world's hardest job.
SHEILA: Jackson doesn't need an Xbox, love. He needs a mother.
Rhiannon nods in agreement.
No 32
Lauren is looking for Mason's old school reports, as Ajay needs them for the case, but is struggling to find them. She feels like she's been a bad mother, but Lou tells her not to think like that. Amber comes in, greeting them, but Lauren coldly tells her she has dirt all over her shoes, and to clean them up now.
AMBER: I'm just getting a drink.
LAUREN: I don't care; I said 'now'.
AMBER: Mum, things are gonna be okay.
LAUREN: You have no idea.
AMBER: What if I go to the cops and tell them that Mason was -
LAUREN: What if you just listened in the first place? You were warned off Robbo. What if you'd just done that? Then maybe we wouldn't be standing here discussing the prospect of your brother's life being ruined!
Amber runs out, and Lauren feels guilty.
Ramsay Street
Lauren comes out to find Amber and sits next to her. Amber is crying; Lauren says she didn't mean what she said, but Amber thinks she was right. Lauren says there's no point either of them blaming Amber, or even Robbo - they're just trying to make excuses for the mistakes Mason made himself, because they love him.
Lauren says what happened was Mason's fault; he knows the difference between right and wrong. Lauren doesn't know how things will turn out with Mason, and is worried about Matt and Bailey too, but apologises to Amber for blaming her. Lauren tells Amber she loves her, Amber replies likewise, and the pair hug.
Charlie's
Rhiannon explains to Mason about her thinking Jackson would be better off without her. Mason tells her she's a great mum - he'll miss her but she's made the right decision to go back to Mount Isa to be with her son. Sheila, who is at the bar, has even bought her the plane ticket home, saying Rhiannon deserves it for having turned over a new leaf - but pointedly adds it's a shame not everyone has changed their ways, giving Mason a dirty look.
Rhiannon tells Mason it's not too late for him either, and encourages him to go and see Kate to make things right with her. Mason admits Paul threatened to call the cops, and says Kate has made her feelings pretty clear. Rhiannon says she knows it's hard, but if he loves Kate, he shouldn't give up on her without a fight.
Lassiter's (Kate's room)
There's a knock on the door, and a voice says 'room service' - but when Kate opens it, it's Mason, explaining he had to see her. She drags him inside angrily, telling him Paul will kill Mason if he sees him. Mason says he wants to explain; he's been totally honest about his feelings for her, and took part in the attempted robbery only in order to protect his family. Kate's annoyed he kept things from her, but Mason says he was worried she wouldn't have stayed with him if she knew the truth.
Kate's not sure she can trust Mason, but he assures her he won't lie to her again. He might be going to jail, but Mason tells Kate he needs her and can't get through this without her.
KATE: Everything in me is telling me to run. Run as fast as you can away from this - but for some insane reason, I want to be with you.
MASON: I want to be with you too.
KATE: I'll never be able to trust you.
But Mason cuts her off, and the two kiss passionately, falling onto the bed in an embrace.
Later, Kate and Mason are in bed together, evidently having TITTNL. Mason explains he had planned to take her to a posh hotel suite in the city as part of their big date - but that this is just as good, even if Paul is only next door. Kate tells him they need to keep their relationship under wraps for now, as Paul wouldn't be happy. She also mentions that Amber came to see her to plead Mason's case, which he thinks was 'really cool of her'.
KATE: Yeah, you're lucky. You have a perfect family.
MASON: Not so perfect at the moment.
KATE: Still, I'd love a family like yours.
MASON: Well, you're welcome any time - they love you.
KATE: And why wouldn't they?
(They laugh)
KATE: You know, I wish we could just lie here forever - pretend everything was okay.
Charlie's
Paul turns up, and Sheila lays into him about having become a 'part- time pimp' - Rhiannon has told her everything about his business transactions! Rhiannon hands Paul back the money he paid her, telling him she doesn't want it, and has returned the gift for Jackson and the other things she bought with it.
RHIANNON: I don't want to be involved in your dirty business. I'm a good person.
PAUL: Really, since when?
RHIANNON: Since now.
PAUL: Oh, I see - you just clicked your fingers and declared yourself an instant saint, did you?
RHIANNON: Laugh all you like. It wouldn't hurt you to start being honest either. Which is why I reported you for bribing Allan Hewitt.
PAUL: You what?
RHIANNON: I reported you to the police for bribing Allan! Consider it a farewell gift!

Rhiannon cheerfully departs, leaving Sheila to shake her head at a gobsmacked Paul!
