Lassiters Complex
Karl spots Carmel exiting Harold's, and has a flashback to Summer enlightening him that Carmel *likes* him. He approaches her to invite her out for lunch at the intimate Lanzini's. She is more than looking forward to their 'date'!
Harold's Store
Sonya and Vanessa discuss their pregnancies when she comes in to get supplies for the movies. Vanessa is more than fed up being pregnant, especially since she's past her due date and plans on going to the hospital to see Karl, not because of the sore back she has, but because she is past her due date. Lucas wants her to hold off but Vanessa's mind is set and asks if he's coming with her.
Rowanoaks special care facility
Rhys drops in to see his mum and chat turns to if he's apologised to Vanessa yet, and when Elaine hears that he hasn't she's most annoyed at her son!
Hospital
Lucas tries to talk Vanessa out of asking Karl to be induced but her mind is totally made up, she's fed up being pregnant!
Karl enters the room and is surprised to find out that Vanessa isn't in labour. He's also surprise to hear that she wants to be induced but refuses to do so partially because she's just past her due date (4 days) but more because it isn't hospital policy. She asks him about using natural remedies to force the onset of labour and while Karl concedes that they are safe, they aren't medically proven, but that is enough for Vanessa!
Outside at the desk, Rhys is still grumpy after the visit to his mum, and Georgia tries (and fails) to get him to cheer up. He then spots Vanessa coming out of a consulting room and quickly decides he's had enough for the day.
Number 28
Karl pops home to get a file he left and Summer apologises for what she said to him about Carmel and has decided not to interfere but to leave that to Tash instead!
Charlie's veranda
Rhys is contemplating calling Vanessa when Kate and Georgia arrive and join him. He sees right through Kate's attempts at cheering him up but does seem to listen when she tells him to go and get Vanessa back. "It's not that simple," he bemoans but she just accuses him of not trying very hard! "And you do seem pretty down without her," Georgia adds in too. "It's none of your business, either of you," is his reply but they aren't listening!
KATE: You love her. You're miserable without her so why won't you fight for her?
RHYS: ...
KATE: You know if you're not willing to put yourself out there then you don't deserve her.
RHYS: Save me the romance novel rubbish would you.
KATE: It's the truth. What woman wants to be with a man who isn't willing to fight to save their relationship?
Rhys again doesn't respond but this time, Kate's had enough and tells Georgia that they are going to sit inside instead.
Number 26
Rhys enters the house in a foul mood; he's stewing away on this whole situation with Vanessa.
Community centre
Vanessa enlists the aid of a large exercise ball to try and get labour started by bouncing up and down on it. She even encourages Lucas to join in too.
Summer enters the centre and gives them bemused looks until they explain the rationale behind it, then wishes them good luck!
Vanessa doesn't feel its working, so Lucas suggests something else - pressing on her pressure points, which she finds is working and begins bouncing on the ball at the same time to see if that does the trick.
Harold's Store
Next on the 'get labour started' list is some vile drink made with various ingredients including curry powder!! Vanessa must be really desperate but the only thing it has moving is her rushing to the toilet to be sick!
Charlie's
Susan spots her sister and invites her to a screening of a Cary Grant movie at the community centre. Carmel is all up for it until she discovers it's on at the same time as her lunch with Karl. Susan thinks it's just a normal lunch, so suggests she re-scheduling it and since Carmel doesn't want to spill the beans, concedes to go see the movie with her sister rather than have lunch with Karl.
Ramsay Street
Vanessa thought the walk home from the complex would work but it hasn't as they reach the driveway of #32. She is talking to Lucas about just waiting things out, when she notices 'SORRY' written in lots of cupcakes on the driveway.
Hospital
Carmel is forced to visit the hospital to let Karl know she can't make lunch because he hasn't returned the messages she's left for him. He is fine with her cancelling lunch and she hopes they re-arrange it for another day.
Number 28
Karl comes home and decides to chat to Summer about her suspicions and tells her about inviting Carmel to lunch, indicating that it was going to perhaps be more than lunch. "So you tested her?" she asks and he replies that he just wanted to be sure and has come to the conclusion that Carmel definitely isn't interested in him because she cancelled lunch to be with Susan.
KARL: She made it clear that her sister was her number one priority.
Community centre
Susan checks with Carmel that Karl was okay with rescheduling lunch, he was, before they get their seats for the film.
Number 28
Sum wonders if she got the signals wrong but adds that she's glad because it would have proved awkward otherwise! "We're good friends," Karl says and adds too that Carmel wouldn't want to jeopardise reconnecting with Susan, which has just began.
Community centre
"See, this is better than lunch with Karl," Susan says to her sister as it fills up and both are glad that Carmel has decided to stay in Erinsborough for longer... although unseen by Susan, Carmel's face tells a different story!
Number 26
Vanessa returns all the cupcakes to Rhys. He sincerely apologises for everything and wants to go back to how things were. "We can't go back," Vanessa tells him but he thinks they can move past it.
VANESSA: To where?
RHYS: Back to being us again, to being happy.
VANESSA: I can't be happy 'til I know where I stand.
RHYS: What do you want me to say?
VANESSA: Well that's just it, isn't it if I have to tell you!
She then realises it's a waste of time and goes to walk out of the house but he pleads with her not to leave, telling her that he knows how she feels about him.
VANESSA: You know how I feel?! I feel tired and pregnant Rhys, and completely over this.
Charlie's
Kate and Georgia gossip about what Rhys' next move is when they spot him entering the bar. He tells them about following their advice and that he told Vanessa how he felt and got shot down! "I'm sorry," Kate replies and hears that Rhys isn't giving up because he's the best thing that has ever happened to her!
Tomorrow on Neighbours
