This week on Neighbours
- Callum wanting to move things along with Rani.
- Tash jealous of Ed's friend.
- Andrew being diagnosed with epilepsy.
Previously on Neighbours
- Lou wanting to be godfather to Lucas/Vanessa's child.
- Lucas squashing that idea!
- Lucas accepting that being with Vanessa isn't going to happen.
Number 32
Lucas takes a break from reading up on fatherhood to apologise to Lou. He accepts the apology and then after the pair of them chat about parenthood, Lou has an idea on how he can help Lucas put theory into practice before the baby comes along.
(Later)
Lou returns, not with a real baby but with a realistic training doll for Lucas to have practice with courtesy of his contacts at the community centre. Lucas is extremely sceptical about Lou's plan but he sweetalks him into trying it out for the afternoon on the understanding he won't say anything again about the parenting books. Lou is then forced to remind Lucas of his "responsibilities" when he wants to rush off to the garage (he's finally got some work) so he hurriedly grabs the doll and heads out of the house.
Charlie's
Kyle and Jade find Sonya at the bar and hand over something for their goddaughter - a 2% stake in Dial-a-Kyle (from his share) for her. Sonya doesn't really want to accept it but when she runs out of excuses, says that she'll need to discuss it with Toadie first. When Kyle goes to get drinks, Jade explains that she tried already to talk Kyle about it (and failed) but is urged to try again from her sister!
Number 30
Sonya is surprised (but happy) to see Toadie home early and tells him that she's got something to discuss with him.
Number 26
Kyle is on a run now - he wants to make Jellyfish some wooden toys. "Look out, he'll be wanting his own soon," Rhys pipes up, which Kyle flatly denies; he's just hyper at the thought of being a godfather, something he thought would never happen.
Number 30
Sonya breaks it to Toadie about Kyle thinking he's Jellyfish's godfather. Surprisingly, he thinks it's a great idea because Kyle is a good bloke!
Number 26
Jade (and Rhys) try and fail to convince Kyle that being a godfather is a bad idea but he's still intent on being one.
Number 30
Toadie explains in a bit more detail why he's happy with Kyle being godfather and now, even Sonya is beginning to like the idea.
Garage
Lucas has to interrupt working on a car when the doll begins to cry. Initially he's reluctant to do anything, and even when he does, holds it like its some foreign object before finally twigging what you've got to do to get a crying baby to stop. Chris comes across this happy moment and gives Lucas a bit of stick!
Ramsay Street
Toadie and Sonya walk over to #26 and he formally acknowledges Kyle and Jade as Jellyfish's godparents... and gives Kyle special instructions - she's got to grow up as a Bomber not as a Pies fan!
Their attention is drawn to a police car making its way up the street and when it stops, the officer gets out and asks if one of them is Kyle Canning. Kyle acknowledges himself and asks what happened and at that, some youth gets out of the car and says "hello dad, long time no see!" Cue puzzled looks from Jade and Kyle mutters "Harley" as we head into the first commercial break.
(Later)
Commercial break later and Kyle identifies himself as Harley's cousin, not his father, and the officer explains that he was caught breaking into the train yard at Flinders Street intent on doing some tagging. "Anything I can help with?" Toadie shouts over but Kyle calls him off so the pair of them walk home.
Harley tries to suggest he is just into train spotting and cousin Kyle steps in to take responsibility for him and when the officer leaves, makes his displeasure at what Harley has done plain and clear. He orders the lad inside so he can call his mum.
Garage
The doll is crying again and Lucas/Chris struggle to work out what is wrong with it. Lou drives by to check up and is quickly shooed away and Lucas returns to find out how Chris managed to get it quiet! Lucas then tries to do a runner to get some coffee but is reminded of his "parental rights" by Chris, so he grabs the doll (who now begins crying) and literally stuffs it inside a holdall to take with him to Harold's!
Number 26
Kyle discovers from his aunt that this is the third time Harley has been taken home by the police! He also discovers that Harley has been expelled from school too (he set fire to the staffroom)! "Do you want a criminal record?!" he asks his cousin, who doesn't seem to care at all, instead grabs his bag to go wait outside for his mum.
Harold's Store
Lucas successfully hides the crying doll from Vanessa but thank god it's not a real baby or the authorities would be wanting a word! Especially after he then forgets about the doll when he leaves with Toadie, who is after him to check his car out.
Garage
With a helpful prompt from Chris, Lucas quickly abandons working on Toadie's car! I wonder where he is going?!
Harold's Store
Lucas dashes into the store for the doll but the bag (and his jacket) aren't where he left them. He quizzes Vanessa, who hasn't a clue what he is going on about, when Lou (and bag) walks into the store. Lou gets the crying doll out of the bag and Lucas is amazed that he quickly gets it to stop crying and wants to know how that happened.
LOU: The question is, how can you learn to do it!
Number 26
At the front door, Harley boasts to a mate that he's gotten away with what he did because he gave his cousin's address and asks if they want to go back to the city tonight.
Meanwhile inside, Kyle is remember what he was like at Harley's age and that he doesn't want him to fall into the path of destruction. He also admits that he doesn't think his aunt is up to parenting Harley (reminding her how Dane is!) and then something comes to him in a lightbulb moment.
Number 30
Lucas (and doll) returns home and he admits to Lou that looking after it has been hard and has come to the conclusion that he will need help with bubs and plans on talking to Vanessa about making him their child's godfather.
Lucas then decides to head for the shower and the crafty sly dog then takes the doll and literally switches it off since the job is done!
Number 26
Kyle joins Harley at the front door and gives him the news - he's now going to be staying here. Harley doesn't look too chuffed at that prospect!
(Later)
Kyle squares his plan with his aunt, and then thanks Rhys for agreeing to it too especially as he thinks he'll have Harley sorted out in a week! "Confident!" Jade remarks before adding that she is proud of him for what he is about to do.
Kyle then heads through to the living room to explain all to his cousin, who still isn't chuffed at the thought of having to stay. He goes to say that Kyle isn't his dad and is then promptly reminded of what he called him earlier! Harley is then told what is expected of him while he is resident and promptly tells Kyle that he won't be playing ball.
Tomorrow on Neighbours
- Kyle realising what a task he's got ahead of himself!
- Harley refusing to work.
- Sum asking if Tash is jealous of Ed's friendship with Toni.
- Toadie suggesting Cal takes Rani on a stealth date.
