Number 26
Rhys returns home to find Jade and Kyle cuddling on the sofa watching TV. Jade tells Rhys that they've made up, but she doesn't look too thrilled. Rhys thinks it's good that they got through some very serious issues so quickly. Jade asks Rhys to be out of the house tonight so she can cook Kyle dinner to celebrate. Rhys agrees.

Number 22
While Sophie is upstairs playing her guitar loudly, Paul finds Sophie's bag and wonder's if she has even opened it but Kate says she won't get involved. There's a knock at the door, and Paul's surprised to see its Susan, back from her trip. She nods to Paul and gives Kate a hug. She says she came back early because the course was so good that she couldn't wait to put what she's learned into practice. She says she knows Paul's been up to no good, referring to the thing with Ajay. Paul insists that she should take a couple of days off, he tells her he's concerned that if she goes into work early and has one of her MS turns she could be in hospital for weeks at the paper's expense. Susan doesn't look convinced by Paul's concern for her health, but agrees to take one day off before returning to work. As Susan leaves, Paul hops into action.

Erinsborough News
Zoe walks in on Paul making a phone call. He's trying to pressure the advertisers into signing his contract quickly, but Zoe says that won't work and tells him he needs to calm down. Paul says if Susan gets wind that he's been doing this behind her back, she'll get in everyone's ear and nobody will sign the contract. Zoe says if he pushes this, he'll scare the advertisers off. They just need to keep Susan in the dark, and people will start signing.

Number 28
Karl, Summer and Susan are having a cup of tea while Summer informs Susan of how Paul has been behaving while she was away. Summer says Paul was in the office a hell of a lot and tells Susan about the big meeting. She thinks he was meeting with advertisers and one of the advertisers, Greg, mentioned a clause about who was going to be editor.

Charlie's
At another important top-secret business meeting at Charlie's, Susan asks Greg what the meeting with Paul was about, and what he was offering. He shows her the contract which he's been asked to sign, which is conditional on him being editor. She asks him to give her 24 hours before he does anything.

Harold's
Rhys asks Kyle if he and Jade are happy. He thinks they've sorted things out a bit too fast, it's not as easy as flicking a switch and wonders where all of Jade's anger has gone. Rhys likens Jade and Kyle's relationship to him getting a broken leg. Once his first cast was off he started running around on it before he was supposed to, and ended up being in a cast twice as long, because he thought it was fixed before it really was.

Number 30
Jade is raiding Sonya's kitchen, looking for good cutlery to use for her dinner with Kyle tonight. Sonya thinks that while Jade getting back together with Kyle is good news, it's just not like Jade to do this. She wonders if Kyle knows she's going to this much trouble. Jade is trying to make things work with Kyle, Sonya says Jade is forcing things and wonders how long she can keep it up.

Number 22
Susan tells Paul she knows what he was trying to do, trying to tie up the advertisers while she was out of the control so he could take her job. She presents the contract to him as evidence.

SUSAN: I am still the editor of this newspaper, Paul, the editor that you appointed.
PAUL: And now I want my job back
SUSAN: And this is how you're going about getting it, it's a bit Machiavellian don't you think?
PAUL: I think they'll sign.
SUSAN: Greg Brayer won't, and once this gets out you'll lose the rest of them too, not to mention a big proportion of our readership.
PAUL: You wouldn't go public with this, come on, you wouldn't risk the damage to the paper.
SUSAN: Don't try me Paul. I love my job, but I can take my skills somewhere else
PAUL: Well what about Summer, I mean she couldn't even get a job before I took her on
SUSAN: I'll take Summer with me, but I don't really think it's gonna come to that. See the Erinsborough News means a lot more to you than it does to me. So you call off this ridiculous coup, or I bring the whole thing down.

Erinsborough News
Paul is in Susan's office, trying to reach Greg Brayer. Zoe bursts in and grabs the phone off him, telling him not to do this. Paul needs the advertisers to sign, Zoe says it is too late as Susan already knows, they've missed their window. Paul thinks Susan is bluffing but Zoe doesn't think she is. Zoe tells him if this gets out it will damage all his other businesses as well as the paper. She tells himthat he still has influence as owner of the paper, he managed to stop Ajay winning the election, which is better than having no power at all. She thinks he should let Susan stay in the job.

PAUL: Just give up, admit defeat. What the hell am I paying you for?
ZOE: Hey, we tried and we failed. You take the loss, it is done!

Paul calls Susan and tells her he wants her back in the office tomorrow as she has a paper to run.

Number 22
Paul and Zoe return home, Sophie is practising her guitar in the living room. Paul turns the amp off and tells Sophie he's sick to death of not being respected in his own home.

PAUL: You haven't even opened this (her school bag), are you even attempting to do any homework?
SOPHIE: Well I'm practising.
PAUL: I'm tired of this attitude of yours Sophie, and I'm tired of all this pathetic inane guitar playing.
ZOE: Paul, this isn't the way to handle this.
PAUL: Do you want to be a loser all your life? Cos that's exactly what's going to happen if you don't do something about it!
KATE: Paul!
PAUL: No, Kate. You're failing at school, you're clearly failing at music, and to be honest you're going to fail at life if you don't get off your bum and do something about it! (He points to her guitar) This isn't a choice Sophie, (he picks up her school bag) this is the only choice you have while you are living under my roof! Open your bag, take out your books and stop wasting everybody's time!

(Later)

Zoe and Kate console a crying Sophie. Zoe and Kate think Paul didn't mean what he said, but Sophie knows he meant it. Zoe says that he wouldn't treat her like a child if she didn't act like one. Whenever he asks her if she has homework she either argues or turns up her amplifier. She says she should manage her time better, keep up at school that way he won't bother her about her music. Sophie agrees.

Number 26 (Night time)
The dinner Jade has made is ready. The beers she put in the freezer to cool down have frozen, and the drinks Kyle has are too warm. They sit down for the dinner and realise the steak is raw. Jade takes the plates away and tries to reheat it, Kyle decides to go for a shower, but Jade gets all worked up about things. As Kyle heads to the shower he meets Rhys, who asks how dinner is going. Kyle says Rhys is right, that the relationship is a broken leg. Rhys laughs and leaves.

(Later)

Jade and Kyle are sitting down for dinner, Jade starts worrying about the food, asking if Kyle needs anything before leaping to her feet to get some drinks. Kyle asks her why she's behaving like this. Jade says she wants to make this work but she doesn't know where to start.

(Even later)

Jade and Kyle are watching football together, shouting at the TV together. Sonya drops by with a gravy boat, which is just an excuse to see how things are going. Jade says dinner was a disaster, she notes that she was trying to force things, but things are better now they've relaxed. Sonya takes her gravy boat and decides to leave them to it. Kyle suggests he and Jade head to the bedroom. As he heads in to the bedroom, she turns off the TV, looking very unsure, before heading in after him.

Erinsborough News
Zoe finds Paul in the office and tells him that Sophie is very upset and he shouldn't take things out on her.

PAUL: I don't pay you for family therapy, I pay you for public relations advice
ZOE: Excuse me!
PAUL: Yeah, as a matter of fact, if you'd invested half as much time into trying to fix my business problems as you do trying to fix my family, I'd probably be back in that editor's chair by now.

Zoe says she doesn't care about Susan Kennedy, she cares about Sophie. If he wants Sophie to stop acting out then he should focus on her, before it's too late. Zoe storms off.

Charlie's
Paul orders a glass of wine, only to bump into Susan, Karl and Summer who are all giddily laughing. He goes to a table with his drink, and is approached to Kate. She says she was going to tell him off about Sophie, but Zoe fixed it. Paul's decided to break up with Zoe, Kate's disappointed because Zoe's really nice. Paul says he wanted to break up with Zoe weeks ago but he needed her for work. Kate says the break up won't just affect Zoe, but Sophie too. Sophie has gotten very attached to Zoe, and after he yelled at Sophie she's pretty vulnerable. Paul's made his mind up, he phones Zoe.

Charlie's Exterior
Zoe meets Paul outside Charlie's and they sit down together. Paul says he wants to talk to her about something, when Sophie interrupts. She tells Paul she's done all her homework. Zoe invites Sophie to dinner with them. Paul apologises to Sophie for earlier, he may have been a little harsh and Sophie says she was probably asking for it. While Sophie leaves to get menus, Zoe asks what he wanted to ask her about, Paul says nothing, it wasn't important.
