- Karl confronting Susan, saying that she's seeing Jim as Alex
- Malcolm returns home to visit
- Kyle getting nervous about making a speech
- Lou threatening to stop funding if Kyle doesn't do the speech
Harold's Store
Jade walks in as Kate is locking up the store. Jade fills Kate in on the Kyle/Lou situation and Kate is surprised and slightly amused that Kyle is afraid of public speaking. She offers to talk to Kyle and Jade initially turns her down but after some hesitation, she accepts the offer.
Number 26
Jade arrives home with Kate in tow to find poor Kyle curled up on the couch. Jade leaves Kate to talk to Kyle, although she takes a little look back, a little sad that Kyle and Kate are so close. Kyle is still adamant that he won't do the speech because people will think he's stupid, but he's made to admit that he's never actually done a speech before. Kate manages to convince him to give it a go and if it doesn't go well, she'll fake an illness so he can jump the fence and escape!
Number 28
Things are quiet and frosty in the Kennedy house until Mal walks out. He's planning on driving down to Colac to visit Stonie. Susan offers up their car which earns her a look from Karl, but he agrees amicably and hands over the keys. They practically trip over themselves to make him breakfast and make assurances that they're good and everything is OK.
KARL: It's a long drive; you don't want to do it on an empty stomach.
MALCOLM: Look, I'll pick up something at the roadhouse, really.
KARL: What, like gastro?
Once Mal is out the door, things are back to quiet and frosty and dirty looks being exchanged.
Number 26
A gratuitous scene of a topless Kyle is provided. Jade tries to small talk with him but he snaps at her before quickly apologising, putting it down to his nerves. Kate comes in with muffins and Jade goes out for her jog. Kyle asks why Kate is doing all this to help him and he sounds a little hurt at being a "distraction" from Brennan, but he's also happy that he's helpful to her.
Harold's Store
Tash is ordering up a storm - she says it's because she's hungry, but Chris suspects it's because he's shouting! He can't hang out with her all day though because he has things to do around his house and you don't say no to George Pappas. He tells Tash that even though she has dad issues, she has no idea how lucky she is with her father.
We cut to Karl and Susan who can't seem to agree on anything. Karl wants to go for a training session with Jade and eat wholemeal pasta (for the fibre), but Susan has grabbed a pack of Tim Tams. Lou hands them a flier for the launch of Dial- A- Kyle and Susan quickly agrees to go which annoys Karl as he wanted to go training.
Dial- A- Kyle Launch
Tash and Chris walk past the commotion for the launch and Tash tries to drag him in.
NATASHA: Come on Chris, it's the handyman biz. There are bound to be some hot tradies hanging around.
He can't though because of the chores awaiting him so Tash relents and leaves with him.
A very nervous Kyle is freaking out with Kate trying to calm him down. He gets a call from Lou who is out scouting for more people and asks Kyle to start first which freaks him out even more. Kate gives him a tip - when he's looking out into the audience, only look at her and forget that there are other people around. He gingerly approaches the stage and goes to the mike.
After the commercial, Kyle delivers a short speech outlining all the handyman things that he does. Jade has obviously heard the rehearsal as she mimes along with him. He comes out of it unscathed and instantly thanks Kate, much to the hurt of Jade. Susan and Karl congratulate him.
SUSAN: We'll definitely use you. Good to have an expert so close by.
KARL: Apart from me, of course.
Kyle, Kate and Jade head off to Charlie's to celebrate.
Charlie's
While Kyle buys the drinks, Jade wants to know how Kate got through to Kyle. She explains her tactic about getting Kyle to only look at her and Jade has to ask - is there something more with Kyle/Kate that she should know? Kate pretty much gives an eye roll as Kyle returns with drinks for his "two favourite chicks".
Harold's Store
Karl and Susan are having a coffee and they see Lou and ask why he wasn't at the launch.
LOU: Well, I didn't want to put Bozo off his game.
Looks like Lou is off again as he's going to East Timor to build schools as a project manager. The K's offer to have him over for dinner.
Charlie's
Jade is still pouting about Kate and Kyle as Kate goes to get more drinks. Kyle tells her that Kate is just a mate. Kate is ordering as is Rhys, and he checks her out for a second before introducing himself. Karl goes over to order as well and Rhys makes a snide comment about Karl "butting in" and not for the first time. He walks off and Karl goes to follow him, accidentally bumping into Kate who spills her drinks all over herself. Karl apologises and Kate asks what the arguing was about but Karl plays it down and apologises again.
Number 28
A moody Karl enters an empty house and looks at the map of Peru. Mal comes home and asks Karl about the tension but Karl keeps playing it down. He heads off to the gym and Mal comments that he goes very often - Karl reasons that it's because he's training for Peru.
Charlie's
Kate orders a drink and Rhys insists on paying because he's partially at fault for getting Karl fired up and consequently bumping into Kate.
KATE: So how do you know Karl?
RHYS: Workmates. Minus the 'mate' bit.
Rhys tells her that he works at Erinsborough Hospital and he declines her invitation to join her and Kyle/Jade.
JADE: I thought you were going to flirt with that random all night.
KATE: I don't think he was flirting.
JADE: Kate - he's a guy, you're hot, he was definitely flirting.
KATE: Yeah, but I asked him to come over and he said no.
(Jade and Kyle nod knowingly at each other)
JADE: Right, so he's a player.
KYLE: He's a sleaze.
JADE: Yeah, that's his game.
KATE: What? Buy girls drinks and then snub them when they try to be friendly?
(Jade and Kyle nod)
JADE: He's got you talking about him, doesn't he?
Good point. They get back to the pool.
Number 28
Susan is preparing dinner and sends Mal out into the backyard to pick some parsley. Karl comes home and sighs that he bumped into Rhys. Susan tells him to just say something since Rhys is his junior but Karl complains that he shouldn't have to and he hates that Susan put him in that position. The argument is cut short as Lou comes over for dinner. Mal comes back in and Lou is surprised to see him and asks why he's come around.
MAL: Oh, well the folks don't look the same on Skype.
LOU: Well, they're not getting any younger.
MAL: Too right! And not everyone ages as well as you, Lou.
LOU: You're not wrong there, sunshine!
Lou gives Mal a friendly hit.
Charlie's
Kyle is jokingly using "you should dial- a- Kyle" as a saying for everything, much to Jade's annoyance and Kyle's amusement. Kate is sneaking looks over to Rhys and Jade looks pouty every time Kyle talks to Kate.
Unknown location/Number 26
Kate wakes up in an unknown location which turns out to be Rhy's bedroom. He greets her good morning gets her a coffee, and she declines breakfast. She looks a little confused but she's handling it pretty calmly.
Meanwhile Jade and Kyle are woken up bright and early by Lou who has come to discuss the business with Kyle before he leaves the country.

RHYS (to Jim): Have you started to make arrangements?
(Later, at Charlie's)
JIM: It was how he said it. Like booking a holiday.
(Karl, Susan and Mal at Harold's Store)
MAL (to Karl): What would you do if you only had a couple of months to live?
KARL: I'd be spending time with family, that's the important thing.
(At Number 28)
KARL: We need this trip, Susan.
SUSAN: I'd have to check with Paul.
KARL: I'm starting to get suspicious.
(At Rhy's digs)
RHYS: See you, Miss Ramsay.
KATE (beaming): See ya.
(Ramsay Street)
PAUL (to Kate): See you're out enjoying yourself.
SUSAN (to Kate): Hi, love, you look nice!
(At Harold's Store)
KATE (to Jade): I just used him to get over Mark. No, I don't do casual; I don't forget people's names. I just have to be grateful that I'm never going to have to see him again.
(Rhys sees Kate at Harold's while she's wiping down a table)
