Number 24
Sonya is staring out the window at number 30 when Lucas chirpily greets her. He can see she's a little down so she confides that she saw Callum and spoke to him, but Toadie found them and they had a fight. Lucas points out that on the bright side, they didn't fight in front of Callum but it's a small consolation for Sonya. Lucas offers to take her for a spin on his bike but she'd rather get dinner started - but since it will be vego, Lucas would prefer takeaway! Before leaving, Lucas suggests that things may not be as bad as they seem.
Number 30
Poor Callum has a pile of schoolwork dumped in front of him for the time he missed from school, courtesy of the friendly neighbouring principal and notes from Sophie. Cal apologises to Toadie for seeking out Sonya and Toadie apologises for not handling his questions better. Toad lets Cal know that he's not handling it all that well, but it will get better with time. He promises to try to answer Callum's queries better in future and Callum agrees to do the same while they shake on it.
Harold's Store
Lyn hands Sonya her change and asks how she's coping. Lyn reveals that her mother wasn't who she thought she was (hello, continuity!) but she was an adult when she found out so Callum will need some time. She takes Sonya's hand and tells her not to give up on either Callum or Toadie while Sonya looks touched at the advice and friendliness.
Meanwhile, Kate is trying to help Kyle plan out how to save money. His goal is about $100 a week, for tools and also a trailer with his picture on the side! They consult a list of his expenditure per week, and one thing is quickly crossed off.
KYLE: Oh, I got banned from that dating website. (Kate gives him a look) They got the wrong idea when I talked about my guns.
The list is looking pretty good but Kate says the hard part is sticking to it! Her first tip is to stop flashing policemen and then she suggests always looking out for opportunities to make extra cash. They head over to the counter where Lyn is finishing a phone call with Karl, who can't help her move things because he has a sore back apparently. Instantly seizing a chance to make money, Kyle offers to move it for $50 and the smoothie in his hand. Lyn thinks it's quite reasonable so they shake on it.
Number 26
Lyn and Susan are marvelling at the new and improved number 26 with new paintwork and everything. Karl hobbles in and plonks himself and his sore back, which he must have pulled in his sleep, on the couch
SUSAN: Yeah, dozing on the couch is fraught with danger.
Suse reminds Karl that he's on tea duty as Kyle and Kate bring in a big wooden box/tank that is supposed to contain Teddy, Charlie's lizard. Teddy, however, is not inside. Susan assures Lyn that it must mean that he's at their house so they're sure to find him when Karl remembers that Dahl is not in her cage so he quickly runs home. Kyle springs into action and runs over to the Kennedys to help find Teddy.
Outside Harold's Store
Toadie and Callum are both looking sullen whilst deciding what to eat. Toadie goes inside to order and Sonya walks past and sees Cal sitting alone. She says hi and apologises for causing trouble at the lake earlier, and hands him two tickets for the Comedy Festival so that he and Toad can go watch it. Staying loyal to his dad, Callum hands the tickets back and Sonya sadly leaves.
Number 24
Lucas gets off the phone with Kate who's asking around if anyone has seen Teddy and Jade jokes that they should call the cops. Sonya walks in, unusually chirpy, and suggests that they go out for dinner instead of staying in. When Jade goes to get ready, Lucas checks that Sonya is OK; she pretends that everything is fine and tells him to dress up a little because they're worth dressing up for.
Charlie's
Sonya offers to buy the first round and while she's off doing that, Jade is wondering why Lucas is being a party pooper by being all down. He lets her know that Sonya had a run- in with Toadie so they should keep an eye on her. Sonya returns with a big pitcher of beer while Lucas and Jade look on worriedly.
Commercial break over, their chips have arrived and Sonya mentions this place she went to that served eggplant chips. Lucas isn't so sure about eggplant chips, and says "some things should just be left alone", looking pointedly at the beer in Sonya's hand. Sonya can see that he's lecturing her and that sets her off and there's a mini- fight as everyone talks on top of one another. Sonya tells them that Toadie threatened her with legal measures to keep her away from Callum. She's unwilling to fight it despite Jade's assertions that she should, and Sonya picks her beer up again before thinking twice and putting it back down.
Number 28
Susan sees vegies all over the counter and wonders why Libby's mind- cleansing has to be so messy. The search for Teddy continues but no luck. Kyle optimistically suggests that the situation could be worse: Teddy could be a chameleon! Kate is on the net looking for ideas but she's not finding much, until Kyle points something out.
Snails! Kyle pops one on the floor hoping to lure Teddy out. His first idea was a female lizard, but the pet shop didn't have one. He puts snails all around the floor much to Karl's annoyance but Susan is OK with it considering the alternative is a feral lizard running around the house and a little boy crying himself to sleep. Kyle is happy to clean up the potential mess, for half price, and Karl irritatingly agrees before accidentally stepping on a snail.
Charlie's/Number 30
The mood is sombre at Charlie's until the room darkens and the band starts to play. Jade seizes the chance to drag the reluctant Sonya onto the dance floor and she gradually gets into it before dragging Lucas on as well. In between dancing, Lucas has taken the opportunity to drink all the beer.
Callum is also looking sombre when Toadie quizzes him about dinner preferences. Not getting much of a response, Toad suggests getting some takeaway.
When Toadie walks in and sees Lucas at Charlie's, he gives a friendly greeting which quickly turns cold as he looks over and sees Sonya and Jade and empty beer glasses. He sarcastically comments that Sonya will be off to bet at the tracks next!
Number 30
Toadie has returned home sans dinner, quickly followed by Lucas. With Callum sent to his room until dinner, Lucas clarifies that Sonya wasn't drinking. Lucas tells Toad that it's not easy on Sonya but Toadie claims that he doesn't care about Sonya. He tears up as he talks about his fear of losing Callum but while Lucas understands, he believes that Toadie needs to stop lashing out at Sonya.
Number 26
Lyn is relieved when Kate and Kyle return with Teddy. Kyle gives the remainder of the snails to Charlie as a housewarming present. Lyn hands Kyle his $50 for helping out with the moving and gratefully hands him another $50 for finding Teddy. Kyle is planning on saving most of it, but not all of it as he wants to buy breakfast for Kate.
Later, Lyn is having a cuppa with Susan and telling her how hard a time Sonya is having. Susan is more sympathetic for Callum, and they're about to have a slight disagreement when they notice that Karl being shifty in the background. Turns out he's "redecorating" by replacing the ladies calendar on the wall with the mens one! Looks like he smuggled it in tucked in the back of his pants.
KARL: It goes better with the colour scheme!
SUSAN: You'll put people off their food!
Lyn unexpectedly bursts into tears and Karl and Susan think that they've upset her, but she's tearing up because she's grateful for the calendars and the fact that everybody helped out to put her family under a roof again.
Number 24
Lucas and Jade are arguing about Toadie/Sonya: Jade thinks Toadie was out of line and Lucas thinks that Toadie is doing it tough as well. Sonya, who is ironing in the background, has heard enough and she heads off to bed. Lucas tells Jade that there's not much they can do because Toad and Sonya need to work it out themselves.
Number 30
The advice doesn't seem to have stopped Jade as she powers into the house to talk to Toadie. She puts her finger right on his insecurities by telling him that blood is thicker than water and Callum will soon realise that. He tells her to leave but she only looks him in the eye and tells him that if he ever threatens Sonya again, she'll make sure Sonya fights him.
