Recap
- Natasha finding out about Summer and Chris's innocent hotel stay
- Paul telling Rebecca he is nothing without his business
- Diana letting Paul know she has evidence of his embezzling
- Paul yelling at Andrew for giving Diana the incriminating files
Andrew's Bedroom
Andrew's lying in bed looking depressed when he gets a text message (Happy 17th Birthday! Hope Paul is spoiling you. Mum x). Andrew quickly sends a text back that everything is great. If only that were true.
Number 22
Paul's having trouble doing up his tie so Rebecca helps him out. She admits she was annoyed with him last night, but today is a new day and whatever happens, they can fix it. Rebecca gives him a kiss and Paul says he's on the case.
Andrew walks downstairs and expectantly hovers near Paul, but he slinks into the kitchen when it's clear there's no birthday greeting coming (can't blame the man, Andrew, he probably thinks your birthday's still November 13th 1991). Declan (India) and Donna bring cupcakes back from Harold's, but even the mention of cake doesn't jog any birthday memories. Paul heads off to work and Rebecca asks Andrew if he's got any plans today. Andrew just shrugs and says nothing special.
Charlie's Bar
Rebecca asks Paul if he's apologised to Declan yet, but he says it's on his to- do list. Rebecca then forces Paul to tell her exactly what Andrew did, and is surprised when Paul informs her about the file sharing with Diana. She's even more stunned when Paul explains that Diana is out to destroy him. Rebecca doesn't understand: she knows the accounts back- to- front and everything is above board. But Paul just tells her not to worry about it.
REBECCA: Of course I'm going to worry about it. If she's got a problem with you then she's got a problem with me. But together we'll get through it.
PAUL: Problem is, she's good.
REBECCA: You're better. You're Paul Robinson.
Diana's Hotel Room/Lassiter's Corporation New York HQ
Diana rifles through the file she has on Paul before setting up a video conference on her laptop with Rosemary Daniels, who is sitting in a big boardroom in "New York" (aka Rosemary sitting in front of a CGI skyline). Diana tells Rosemary that she has evidence that Paul has been embezzling money and suggests that they remove him from the business immediately. Rosemary says this could reflect badly on the company and suggests that Paul was merely fixing a temporary cash flow problem.
DIANA: It's still illegal.
ROSEMARY: Let's just sit on this and see what he does.
DIANA: With all due respect Rosemary...
ROSEMARY: I'm sure Paul will set things straight in due course.
DIANA: Do you think the board will feel that way about it?
ROSEMARY: Well the board's no concern of yours, Diana. You work for me and I'm telling you to wait.
Rosemary asks Diana to keep her updated. Diana shuts her laptop and looks very pleased with herself.
Harold's Store
Summer leaves a birthday message on Andrew's voicemail just as Natasha walks in. Natasha figured out how to repay Summer for helping her out with Andrew - she won't tell anyone about the Chris/hotel incident. Now they're even. Summer says that she and Chris are happy to wait - not that it's any of Natasha's business of course. Rebecca arrives and Summer asks her to pass a birthday message onto Andrew for her. Rebecca and Natasha are all, 'Birthday? What? Oh crap!'.
Lassiter's Complex
Andrew's sitting by himself when he gets a text from Rebecca (Happy Birthday lunch at home. See you there!). He smiles and sends back 'Thanks'. Diana finds him and asks if he wants to hunt around for more information for her, but Andrew says he's already in enough trouble as it is. Paul sees them chatting and tells Andrew to go home. Diana comments on how tense Paul looks and lets him know she's going to do some more digging around and see if the Lassiter's board or the Feds would be interested in her findings.
PAUL: What is it going to take to call off the dogs? Money?
DIANA: Where would that come from, the Lassiter's account?
PAUL: If it's money you want I can get it for you. You just leave me and my family alone.
DIANA: You're not the man you used to be, Paul. So focused, so ruthless. Now you're playing happy families.
PAUL: Nothing's changed.
DIANA: Rebecca succeeded where so many failed: me included. We could have been a great team in so many ways. We still could be... (she plays with his tie) In so many ways.
Charlie's Bar
Paul has talked Diana into getting a drink and says that he's onto her agenda. He now knows she's doing all of this as revenge for him dumping her all those years ago. Diana scoffs and says he has tickets on himself. Paul says there's a chance that Rosemary will take his side in all of this. And even if Diana still calls the cops on him, Rosemary won't be impressed that Diana sent her nephew to jail.
PAUL: That's two options, I'm going to give you a third. We join forces. We bide our time, we get rid of Rosemary and then we take our places at the head of the company together.
DIANA: I'm not a fool, Paul. You're just trying to cover up whatever else it is you've done.
PAUL: No you were right about us - we will make a great partnership in every way.
DIANA: I don't believe you.
PAUL: Well I'm happy to prove it whenever you want. Haven't you got a hotel room?
DIANA: What about Rebecca?
PAUL: (playing it suave) Collateral damage. Don't underestimate me, Diana, I'm still Paul Robinson.
First Commercial Break
Number 22
Natasha, Summer, Donna and Declan all stand around while Andrew opens a present from Summer and Harry - it's a zombie action figurine in a suit. Summer thought it looked a little bit like him. Andrew thanks her and gives her a kiss on the cheek, making Natasha a bit tetchy.
Rebecca and Paul arrive home just as Andrew opens Natasha's present - a box of chocolates. Natasha complains it would have been better if she was aware of his birthday. Paul grudgingly hands over an envelope to his son, which has A- league tickets in it. Rebecca's all, "You can go together!" but the boys faces are like, "Yeah... Great". The kids head off to prepare lunch and Rebecca says she can't believe Paul forgot Andrew's birthday, but Paul says he's had a lot on his mind.
Andrew's Bedroom
Natasha chats to Cat while she snoops under Andrew's bed, but all she finds are some smelly sneakers. Summer busts her but soon realises Natasha's just hiding out. Summer explains Natasha wasn't the only one Andrew didn't confide in - she only knew about his birthday because of Harry. She kindly adds that Andrew likes to shut himself off sometimes, but Natasha gets her hackles up and says she knows her boyfriend better than Summer. Diverting attention away from herself, Natasha tells Summer to worry about her own boyfriend and makes a crack about her being an ice queen. Summer just sighs and walks out.
Number 22
Paul finally gets around to apologising to Declan. He accepts, but tells Paul that whatever he does, not to take down Rebecca with him. She's way too good for that. Everyone gathers in the lounge room for cake and Andrew blows the candles out. Natasha asks what he wished for, but Summer "sweetly" reminds her that if he says it aloud it won't come true. Andrew is sad when he sees Paul not so subtly checking his watch and pretends that he has to head out to meet up with some mates. Paul gets a text from Diana - My room. 1 hour.
Diana's Hotel Room
Paul hesitates before knocking on the door. Diana, wearing a slinky black slip and robe, invites him inside and tells him to have champagne while she freshens up. Paul takes a drink but catches sight of himself in a mirror. He stares at himself, looking truly guilty for what he's about to do. He slowly takes off his wedding ring and sets it down on the dresser with his phone. Paul starts to take off his tie when Diana offers to help, but it reminds him too much of Rebecca's help this morning and he stops her. Pushing his morals aside, he lunges forward and kisses Diana as they both claw away at each other's clothes.
Second Commercial Break
Number 22/Diana's Hotel Room
Rebecca's about to do the dishes when she realises they're out of detergent. She rings Paul and leaves a message on his voicemail, apologising for interrupting his meeting and asking him to stop at the shops. She says she loves him as we see Paul and Diana kissing on the bed.
Harold's Store
Summer finds Andrew moping into his latte and discovers he's brooding about Paul. Summer reminds him there are still plenty of people who care about him - Natasha for starters. She tells Andrew that he should open up a bit more to Natasha and talk to her about stuff that matters. But if he'd rather push people away, then so be it.
Number 22
Natasha sits and eats cake on the couch while Rebecca and Donna awkwardly hang around. Rebecca tries to make small talk with her, but Natasha says she doesn't have to; she's just waiting for Andrew. Donna and Rebecca are relieved when Andrew returns and they head upstairs to give the teens some peace. Andrew starts to explain his problems with Paul, and for a second Natasha thinks they're going to have a serious conversation, but her hopes are dashed when he changes the subject and suggests they go and muck around in his room.
Diana's Hotel Room
Paul puts his jacket back on and is all business once more. He puts his wedding ring on and says he'll be in touch regarding their next move, but Diana coldly says she doesn't think so.
PAUL: You got what you wanted - proof of our alliance.
DIANA: This is just about you buying time. I just wanted to see how far you'd go. How desperate you are. Betraying Rebecca, that's pretty desperate. Which means there must be a whole lot of evidence out there just waiting for me to find.
PAUL: You are making one big mistake.
DIANA: I'm not the one putting my wedding ring back on. I will find the evidence, Paul, and I will destroy you. And nothing you can do will distract me.
She gives him a steely glare and walks off while Paul tries not to have a meltdown.
Third Commercial Break
Ramsay Street/Diana's Hotel Room
Paul drives into his driveway but can't bring himself to get out of the car. He takes a look at himself in the rear- view mirror but can only see a guilty man staring back. Paul grabs a grocery bag from the passenger seat and gets out, but suddenly decides to go to the boot of the car.
Fully dressed in her power suit, Diana takes a long drink of champagne before walking over to the dresser.
Paul finds a bottle of water in the boot and quickly dabs at his face, washing away the scent of Diana's perfume (and the rancid STENCH of GUILT and SHAAAAAAME).
With a smug little smile, Diana takes out the video camera she had hidden on the shelf, taping her and Paul's sexcapades. Yuck. But also crafty. But also yuck.
Paul's startled when Rebecca walks out to meet him. He hands her a bunch of flowers he bought, hoping the rose scent will cover the scent of his SHAAAAAME. Rebecca smiles and hugs him and Paul looks sick.

DIANA: Lovely woman your wife. Might be interesting to compare notes.
PAUL: You do anything to hurt her...
DIANA: Is that a threat?
(Diana invites Rebecca to see her)
