Outside Number 26
Lucas is trying to do a runner but being in a wheelchair prevents him from going down the stairs from the Scully residence. Steph catches up with him and he wants to know what's preventing her from declaring his love for her after he did to her in the previous episode. "Oh what we're just friends?" he sarcastically asks when Steph doesn't reply and after he says that she confirms that is correct - they are just friends and apologises if she's given him the wrong impression. Steph avoids answering him when he brings up that she previously said they had chemistry because he should be concentrating his energy on getting out of the wheelchair.
Toadie arrives with the paper and Lucas asks for his help in getting down the stairs and so he bumps Lucas down the steps.
Charlie's
Toadie brings back the coffees and Lucas unloads about Steph's sudden un- interest in him and puts it down to him now being in a wheelchair. "I thought she was better than that," he adds. Toadie struggles for an explanation for Steph's behaviour and the best he can come up with is she perhaps doesn't want to blur the lines between being his carer something more, but does add that she does care about him. Lucas then asks Toadie if he can take him to rehab in case Toadie's theory is right.
The General Store
Andrew sweet talks Jumilla into giving him a free coffee refill after he spent the last of his cash shouting Callum and Sophie milkshakes. Harry is impressed by this and agrees to Andrew's suggestion of shooting some hoops. While he goes off to collect his coffee, Kate remarks to her brother that she's impressed at him finding a friend.
Sophie shouts over to Andrew her thanks for the milkshake and he heads over to where she is sitting with Callum and they begin chatting. The kids are impressed at Andrew having lived in Scotland and Brazil but their conversation is interrupted with some random kid (Griffo) and his sidekicks marching into TGS as if they own the place. Andrew is impressed at Griffo's trainers and they agree to have a basketball game some time.
Number 24
Kate puts an end to Sophie and Callum's arguing whether Andrew is better than his computer games but does agree to her request to have Andrew over for supper and Callum's request that he can attend too.
Piping up from the livingroom, Harry asks if that is the right thing to do and tells her about Andrew sucking up to Griffo at the store. She asks if he told Andrew he's a tool but he hasn't because he thought Andrew would work it out for himself. "There's got to be something wrong if you think Griffo's worth hanging out with" he tells Kate before heading to his room.
Number 22
Kate drops by to invite Andrew to supper and he readily agrees. She subtly brings up that there are people he should be avoiding I.e. Macca and Griffo because they are troublemakers and that Griffo has it in for Harry too. Andrew thanks her for the heads up but once Kate leaves, he calls Griffo to arrange a game.
Number 26
As they return with the shopping, Toadie mentions to Steph that Lucas wants him to take him to rehab because he thinks she is rejecting him because he's in a wheelchair. "You know I'm not like that" she replies but when Toadie doesn't say anything she looks upset that he could even think like that. Toadie wants to know what it is then but Steph doesn't reply and instead empties the shopping bags. Eventually he forces her to say something and she agrees that she did have a crush on Lucas but has now moved on and Lucas is just going to have to deal with it.
TOADIE: That's a bit harsh.
STEPH: (annoyed) Toadie look none of us are madly in love and raising puppies.
He gives her a look and she quickly apologises and he asks that she goes easy on Lucas because "he's a bit messed up".
Rehab centre
Lucas arrives for rehab and doesn't welcome Toadie's help. He tells him that he'll be fine as he wheels himself into the building.
(Later)
Lucas is trying to be the life and soul of the physio session by telling jokes as he waits with the others for Jo to take him for physio.
Jo arrives and isn't impressed with Lucas trying to show off, telling him that he is free to leave whenever he wants when he asked what time they got out of here.
(Later)
Jo has Lucas trying to stand up supported by parallel bars but he's struggling to stay upright and demands his wheelchair even though she wanted him to go for another minute.
JO: Not so cocky now Lucas Fitzgerald.
LUCAS: Enjoying this?
JO: It's my job.
LUCAS: You need to get out more.
JO: I know your type.
LUCAS: Oh yes, what type is that?
JO: Adrenaline junkie - doesn't feel like he's alive unless he's pushing himself to the absolute limit. Thinks he's invincible... until now. YOU caused your accident, you know that don't you.
LUCAS: Are you finished?
JO: You can hide behind your cheesy pick up lines and your bad jokes but they won't get you walking again.
Commercial break later and Billy (the guy who Lucas bonded with while they waited for Jo to arrive) apologises for landing Lucas in it and that Jo really hates him! Lucas laughs that last bit off as he'd already come to that conclusion! Billy passes on a tip to Lucas - if you want an easy life do what Jo says! "Mmm, I'm not real good at being told what to do" he confesses but Billy replies that it's not worth rocking the boat because she always wins! Lucas wonders why he doesn't change physios but Billy replies that logistically it's not possible but also because Jo is supposed to be really good. "Says who?" Lucas mutters.
BILLY: Look, no offence but you've got what, a few months of rehab?
LUCAS: Mate.
BILLY: I'm here for 2 years minimum. If I want to get rehabilitate, I've got to work hard; it's not the same for me.
Lucas wants them to take some time out in the rec room but Billy puts the kybosh on that because when he tried to watch the tennis other day Jo said he was missing out on rehab time.
LUCAS: No tennis in the summer? That's just un- Australian!
Lucas then digs out his mobile because he's got a plan!
The General Store
Toadie invites Steph to come with him to pick Lucas up after his first day at rehab when she comes in for a latte. She doesn't want to come and does a runner from the store when Toadie notices that Lucas is calling him.
Charlie's
Lucas' plan was inviting his new friends to Charlie's to watch the tennis while sampling the local brew, which Toadie distributes amongst the gathered. Just as they are making a toast to two of Australia's finest (sports and pubs!) Jo walks in and orders those who take their rehab serious into the minibus. Lucas is literally last man standing and she tells him to "enjoy the game" before she leaves.
The General Store
Kate announces that supper with Andrew is now off after she spots him and Griffo walking into the store as if they are best buddies. Harry tells her it's cool and sends her off with Callum and Sophie to get the meal started and he'll finish the shopping.
Andrew tries to quietly talk to Harry but he shuns his cousin. Griffo comes over and tells Harry not to try out for the basketball team because he's too soft. Harry doesn't rise to the bait so Griffo and his sidekicks walk out of the store, calling Harry a loser. With them gone Andrew tries again to talk to Harry but he isn't in the mood to listen.
(Later)
Griffo has returned to the store and after pinching the basketball off Harry, he challenges him to a one- to- one. Just as his sidekicks enter the store, Andrew asks for the ball (which Griffo throws to him) and he promptly returns the ball to Harry. Griffo asks if Andrew wants to join the losers club too and Andrew quickly replies back that he heard he was the president!
ANDREW: See you act tough around your mates but I know the real story.
Andrew then whips Griffo's iPod out of his pocket and after telling him to back off when he remonstrates. He then goes through the iPod and everyone has a good laugh at the "most toughest guy in high school's" most listened to music on his iPod - #3 is Mariah Carey, #2 Beyonce and the most listened to is Miley Cyrus! Griffo claims it's his sister's iPod but Andrew tells him to have "the guts to own up so that I might respect you" and even Harry adds in that his sister has a better music taste! "You'll keep" Griffo replies and Andrew asks if he is twelve and orders him back to the playground with a final warning for him not to mess with his cousin.
"Good job" Harry says but adds that he could have come in earlier! "I was trying to give you ammo" is Andrew's replies and it finally dawns on Harry what Andrew was trying to do.
ANDREW: Never go into battle unless you know you have the upper hand.
Number 24
Everyone is having a laugh over Miley Cyrus as they eat their meal. They soon move off of music to talking about how Andrew is going living with Paul. Kate chastises Callum when he talks about Paul's dodgy reputation but Andrew is cool with it, his mum has told him stories. In Paul's defence, Kate says that he's been really good to them and Andrew's all ears when Sophie drops in that he gave them a heap of money.
KATE: He's just got a little bit of money to spare, so he's pretty generous when it comes to family.
Rehab centre
Lucas appears to finish his session and Jo suggests that he goes elsewhere, to another centre that will take things nice and easy with him. "Is this how you motivate people" he asks and Jo replies that she does what she does to get results. "And make everyone's life miserable in the process" Lucas says.
JO: These guys chose to come back with me. They're willing to put in the hard yards.
LUCAS: So am I!
JO: Really? All I've seen you do is complain and then take off the moment things got difficult.
LUCAS: You were making them difficult.
JO: (offering him no sympathy) Aww would you like a tissue? (Lucas shakes his head) Stop blaming everyone else for your stuff- ups.
LUCAS: (suddenly determined) I'll be out of this wheelchair before you even know it.
JO: You're all talk. Let's see some action!
We then cut to Lucas again trying (and failing) to stand at the parallel bars. "That was pathetic" she tells him and reminds him of what she said earlier - that he's all talk.
LUCAS: You don't give up do you?
JO: If you're not even going to bother trying, give someone else a go.
LUCAS: I'm taking a break.
JO: Do you always give up that easy?
Lucas then takes offense when she asks if he's got a girlfriend. "None of your business," he replies and she takes this to mean no, following it up by saying that it "would be hard work looking after you. Not much of a relationship." Lucas again takes offence at that and replies that she's "got no idea what you're talking about."
JO: (taunting him) Ah, she's sick of it already isn't she? Don't blame her. You probably take your relationship as seriously as your rehab.
Jo then walks away over to where her other patients are sitting and a very determined Lucas grabs hold of the parallel bars and pulls himself out of the wheelchair and almost defiantly stands upright. He then tentatively (with gritted teeth) starts to shuffle his feet so that he moves along the bars to the end and when he gets there, the other patients clap at his achievement.
Number 26
Lucas wheels himself into the livingroom and tells Steph that there is something he wants to show her and with just a wee bit of help from Toadie, he stands upright and using the crutches Toadie handed him before leaving, takes a few steps. Steph is thrilled at what she is seeing.
LUCAS: I'm going to walk again Steph.
STEPH: (happy for him) Aww.
LUCAS: I love you and I think it's about time you admit that you love me too.
STEPH: ...
