Ramsay Street
Libby wheels Ben's broken bike out and dumps it in a skip. Karl watches from the driveway of number 24.

Erinsborough Hospital
Lucas pushes himself to the edge of the bed with his arms, but realises that he can't stand on his legs. Steph comes in, ready to take him home with her. She tells him that she's had a chat with Dr Peggy Newton and has a rehab plan and med schedule for him. Lucas isn't too thrilled at having to do what he's told. The nurse sets his wheelchair, but every sound is amplified as Lucas watches in horror at the fact that he'll be sitting in it.

Number 28
Karl is fixing Ben's bike out on the veranda. Libby comes out, unhappy that her dad has rescued the bike - she wanted it gone. Karl kindly explains that one day Ben will forgive Dan and will want his bike back to ride it; it's the last memory he has left of Dan.

Libby is upset but concedes, and Karl gives her big hug as Susan comes outside - Steph's on the phone and needs Karl to pop over.

Number 26
Steph shows Karl the hand weights she's got for Lucas to use, and Karl approves. Lucas sits in the wheelchair, watching. He makes some sarcastic references to Karl about how nice everyone's being, and Karl's platitudes of remaining positive don't help.

Karl leaves, and Steph chastises Lucas for being so rude, and he thinks the idea of his staying with her is a bad one. Steph tells him to get used to it; she's up for it if he is. She hands him some weights.

Cut to moments later where Lucas tries some bicep curls, but struggles with them. Steph watches from the kitchen doorway as he gives up. Charlie runs in with an Aussie football, wanting Lucas to go have a kick with him. He innocently asks why Lucas is in a chair. Embarrassed, Steph tells him she'll take him over to Ben's for a kick, and apologises to Lucas for her son's questions. Lucas wheels off, sadly.

Lassiter's Complex
Outside Harold's Store Sonya is wondering what she should bring over to Toadie's later. Callum wants her to bring a DVD - but not a rom com. He'd like a zombie film.

TOADIE: Dammit. I was hoping for The Holiday.
SONYA: Aw.
CALLUM: That's because he thinks you are as hot as Kate Winslet.
TOADIE: ????
CALLUM: Oh. Sorry.

Sonya kisses Toadie goodbye and disappears off whilst Callum assures Toadie he's fine with Sonya staying over tonight.

TOADIE: You're not going to stuff this up for me, are you?
CALLUM: No way.
TOADIE: Really, no way? Or are you just saying no way and then you're going to hit us with a shaving cream bomb later?
CALLUM: No. I promise that I won't muck around.

Callum shakes hands with Toadie, very sincerely.

Number 26
Steph wheels Lucas out from his room, but he wants to push himself. Lyn sits on the sofa listening whilst in the kitchen Steph tells Lucas she needs help with some engine parts on the kitchen table. He gets what she's trying to do, and insists he doesn't need cheering up by her - he doesn't want to be looked after, and doesn't want to be patronised by her of all people.

Shaken and angry, Steph takes a deep breath before walking out. In the lounge she shouts at her mum that Lucas doesn't want to be looked after, despite having damage to his spinal cord. You think Lucas can't hear you there, Stephie?!

Lyn advises that Lucas needs some space, but Steph doesn't seem to get it. Lucas wheels himself in, grabbing his keys and wallet and phone, and declares he's going out. He can't negotiate the steps.

STEPH: Well aren't you going to need help with the steps?
LUCAS: I can manage.
STEPH: Oh yeah, just like you're doing a great job of it now.
LUCAS: I'll get there!
STEPH: Oh yeah?! And then what?! What, are you going to fall down the steps and then catch the chair when it falls on top of you?!
LUCAS: Look, just BACK OFF AND LEAVE ME ALONE!
STEPH: No, Lucas, let's hear it! Let's hear it! You're just out of hospital, another accident's likely to cause permanent damage, but NO! You just want to pretend you can do it without help! Well, come on big man! SHOW US HOW IT'S DONE!

Angry, Steph takes a breath and knows she's gone too far. Lyn quietly calls to her daughter as Lucas wheels himself to his room.

Cut to later that evening where Lucas and Steph are sitting at the kitchen table, apologising for their shouting match. He admits that she had a right to lose it. Steph wonders why Lucas is quite so angry about it all. He confesses he might not walk again, and knows it's his fault - he was so mad at Dan. But Dan could have had everything and blew it on a one-night stand... And as a consequence he put himself in a wheelchair.

He takes Steph's hand across the table as she smiles and hopes he has no idea that the one-night stand was with her...

Number 30
Toadie returns home to find Callum dressed in a suit, and a candlelit table for two.

TOADIE: What are you wearing?!
CALLUM: What are *you* wearing?
TOADIE: You're semi-formal.
CALLUM: You're just semi.

Toadie wonders what the suit is for, and Callum said he's done some research - confidence and self-hygiene wins every time. He sprays Toadie with aftershave which goes in Toadie's eye - just as Sonya comes to the door, all dressed up. Callum puts some love music on and grooves to it, to their horror.

TOADIE: Oh, mate...
CALLUM: (switching off the music) Sorry.

Callum says he'll go get refreshments, and Toadie warns Sonya that Callum seems to have something up his sleeve so she needs to watch her step! Callum brings in cocktails with umbrellas and orange slices, and says he'll go get their pizza for them. Toadie remains suspicious.

Number 28
Susie and Lyn chat in the lounge. Lyn can't believe she's still hung up on Paul - and neither can Susan.

LYN: He's a horrible, horrible, horrible little man!
SUSAN: But he still does it for ya.
LYN: When you're with him...
SUSAN: Ew, no, a little bit squeamish Lynnie...
LYN: No, it's like no-one else exists.
SUSAN: I'm SURE that's not true.

Lyn admits that when she was with Paul, it's like the sun was shining on her; she was powerful, she could do things.

SUSAN: Just stop now. You're just scaring me.

Lyn also admits that she felt like she was someone with Paul. Now she's just a hairdresser who's lost her business. Susan stops here there - she has to find a way to get Lyn firing on all cylinders again!!

Number 30
Callum clears the pizza from the table, and says he has cake, too. He stares at Sonya.

TOADIE: Callum!
SONYA: I'm sorry, but she is so pretty, and smart and funny - DO NOT stuff this up!
TOADIE: CALLUM!

Toadie orders Callum off to bed, but wonders why he's being so nice. Callum offers more romance tips to his dad - before offering Sonya advice that the house creaks a little at night.

Sonya can see that Callum really loves Toadie, and suggests that they've finished talking now. She grabs her bag - she's ready for bed.

The next morning Callum bounds in, wondering where Sonya is, and Toadie says she's having a lie-in.

CALLUM: So. Are you going to do it again?
TOADIE: (choking on toast) Excuse me?
CALLUM: Is Sonya going to come over for another sleepover?
TOADIE: Right.

Callum tells his dad not to push things with Sonya if she doesn't want to stay - because he doesn't want them ending up like Libby and Dan. Toadie assures him they're okay, just as Sonya cheerfully comes into the lounge (no-one should be this cheerful in the morning). Toadie tells Callum to go take Rocky for a walk.

Number 26
Lucas has fixed Steph's engine problem for her, and has added stubby holders to his wheelchair, along with a bag for his keys and phone. He has two stubby holders so that Steph can have one. Wheeling himself out, he thanks her for being so kind to him. Their eyes meet, and Steph quickly says she has to head out to get a few things.

Erinsborough Church
Steph walks up to the church, thoughtfully.

Number 26
Susie pops in with a great idea to get Lyn out of the house - a singles cocktail club. Lyn could meet people, and might happen to meet someone, and might happen to get over Paul. Susan insists this could be fun, so Lynnie says she'll sign them both up...

Libby comes in, and asks after Steph, but Lucas says she's gone out. Suse and Lyn go to the kitchen to argue about the singles night whilst Lib chats with Lucas. He says he can't believe how amazing Steph has been.

LUCAS: The question is: why?
LIBBY: Isn't it obvious?!

Erinsborough Church
Steph admits to CutePriest™ that maybe if she hadn't spent the night with Dan, Lucas wouldn't have ridden off on his bike and had the accident. She feels so guilty. CutePriest™ says that Lucas is responsible for his own problems, no-one else. He comments that looking after someone in that way is hard work. Steph reflects - is she doing it because she feels guilty - or because she loves him?

Lucas is shell-shocked - he thought Steph's feelings were in the past. But - not so much. Libby's sure.

CutePriest™ wonders why she doesn't tell Lucas how she feels. Steph says if she does that she'll have to tell him the real reason Dan left, and she can't do that.

LIBBY: She loves you. I'm pretty sure you already know that. The thing is: do you love her?

Cut to later where Steph unpacks shopping in the kitchen. Lucas asks to talk to her. He starts by saying how lucky he is to have her, and says that Libby dropped past...

Immediately Steph knows what's coming. Lucas admits that they're not just mates - they've been circling each other for ages. Maybe it's too soon after Elle, but when he woke up the only person he wanted to see was her. His face is so hopeful, but Steph crushes him by insisting they're just mates. Nothing else.
