Recap
- Saffron giving Donna a hard time
- Donna freaking out about making Saffron mad
- Harry asking Sarah to the Deb
- Harry yelling at Kate for making him a school joke
Lassiter's Park
Sunny and Zeke are chatting with Harry when Kate walks up and offers Harry a list of girls who don't have a date yet. But Harry reckons those girls are "lame" and slouches away. Kate asks Sunny and Zeke for their help to make things right with her brother.
Erinsborough High - Corridor
Kate chats to Sarah while Zeke speaks with Kyle. Kate finds out that Sarah can't stand Kyle - she's only going with him because Amanda made her. Kyle, meanwhile, thinks Sarah is hot and is expecting to get bizzay come Deb night. Kate and Zeke reconvene and swap stories. Kate reckons operation break up is going to be more guilt-free and easier than she thought.
Saffron's Work
Donna's on the phone to Ringo, who by the sounds of it, is not impressed that she's still wagging classes.
DONNA: Ringo I know school's important, you sound like my mum. Well, not my mum, someone's mum.
Saffron yells at Donna for not working and then goes off at her for daring to bring in a turquoise fabric sample. Apparently "nobody does turquoise". Donna grovels and promises to make things right.
Later, Donna is asking her workmates for their opinion on curtain colours, but sadly they're mute extras and therefore just stare at her unhelpfully. Saffron sashays past and Donna is ready to be yelled at, but nice Saffron has emerged and she praises Donna for her initiative. As a treat, she'll allow her to bring a plus one to the fashion show that afternoon.
Harold's Store
Ringo, Kate, Zeke and Sunny are chilling out with coffees during a double free period. Donna bustles in on a coffee run for Saffron and sits with her friends. Ringo's worried that Saffron is stressing Donna out too much, but Donna reckons it's all part of the experience. She invites Ringo to the show then jokes that she should start a diary about the secret life of a fashion insider. A light bulb goes off over Kate's head.
Later, Kate shows Sunny and Zeke her masterpiece - a pink diary that she's pretending is Sarah's. She's filled it with things that are sure to scare Kyle away like engagement ring pics, 'Our Wedding' ideas, 'Kyle + Sarah 4eva' etc. Sunny laughs and adds in a page of baby names for good measure. Harry walks in and Kate happily tells him that he still might have a chance with Sarah - she has a plan.
Erinsborough High
Zeke distracts Kyle while Kate shoves the diary in his locker. When Kyle returns he flicks through it, but instead of being freaked out he thinks it's pretty cool. "How into me is she! Well, looks like she's up for a good night. Excellent." The teens are stunned - especially Kate - and Harry yells at his sister for ruining his life for the hundredth time today.
Harold's Store
Donna and Ringo are having lunch with random Toadie when Saffron storms in and orders Donna back to work. Ringo wants Donna to stay and finish her lunch, but Saffron barks that if she's not back in ten minutes she can consider herself fired. Ringo doesn't get why Donna lets Saffron treat her like that, but Donna thinks her boss doesn't mean it; she's just under a lot of stress. Ringo isn't convinced so Donna tells him to butt out.
Saffron's Work
Saffron introduces Donna to noted designer Chen Li. Much to Donna's delight Saffron tells Chen how talented Donna is. Ringo arrives for the show and Donna apologises for earlier, but Ringo's still pretty cheesed off about Saffron treating her like a doormat.
Harold's Store
Toadie chats to Libby about how excited the kids are about the Deb, but Libby says the students are driving her crazy. It's just one drama after another, which means their schoolwork is declining. Libby reckons it wasn't like that in their day and Toadie gets whimsical and says it used to be about romance. Libby gives him an odd look.
Saffron's Work
The models strut their stuff for Saffron's mini show but Chen Li doesn't look too impressed. Donna has a quick chat with Ringo and they kiss and make up before she rejoins Saffron - just in time to hear Chen give the collection a big thumbs down. He tells Saffron the whole line was "derivative and uninspired". Saffron looks upset and walks off. Donna quickly follows.
Saffron's Work - Dressing Room
Donna brings Saffron some napkins to dry her tears. Saffron says she doesn't want her pity, but Donna says it's not; it's sticking together as a team. Saffron admits that she doesn't take criticism very well. She wishes her designs were famous in more places than just Melbourne. Saffron thinks she should quit while she's ahead, but Donna gives her a 'buck up little camper' speech and is nicer to Saffron than what she probably deserves.
Lassiter's Complex
Kate, Zeke and Sunny are trying to think up more ways to break up Kyle and Sarah when they see Kyle and his cronies near Harold's. Kate wants to leave but Zeke notices Harry approaching Kyle and wants to wait. Kyle shows off the wedding diary to his cronies then picks on Harry and his Sarah-crush.
KYLE: Sarah wants the K-Man, not the muppet.
But Harry smirks and breaks the news to Kyle that Sarah thinks the "K-Man" is a tool and that Kate wrote the diary. Annoyed, Kyle asks Kate if it's true and she nods.
Erinsborough High - Classroom
Zeke teases Kyle about the diary, but Kyle takes his hurt out on Sarah and dumps her as his Deb date in public. Sarah shrugs, she's happy to go with someone else anyway. But Kyle spitefully says that he spread the word about how desperate she is and that no one will want to go near her - oh, and she should blame the Ramsays. Sarah walks out and Kate rushes out to apologise, much to Libby's chagrin.
Out in the hallway Kate says she never should have written the diary, but Sarah isn't mad. She's relieved she doesn't have to go with Kyle, and Amanda will only be mad at her for a few days. Harry sees them and tries to comfort Sarah but only ends up making things worse. Libby orders them all back into the classroom.
Once everyone's seated Libby makes an announcement - she's put girls' names into one tub and boys' names into another. This way the Deb dates will be drawn at random. The kids are outraged. Libby calls out some random names then reveals that Ringo is with Amanda, Donna's with Kyle, Sunny and Zeke struck it lucky and are still together and poor Kate and Harry are stuck with one another. Harry's mortified. Kate is initially then tries to make light of it.
KATE: Maybe a lily then for my corsage?
HARRY: I don't even know what a corsage is.
Saffron's Work
Donna finds Ringo and tells him that Saffron is actually a human under that SaffronBot 2.0 exterior. But then Saffron comes along and proves Donna wrong by acting like her usual self. She shouts at the team for letting her down and calls them all pathetic. Donna replies that they were just doing what they were told to do.
SAFFRON: How dare you!
DONNA: No, I'm just saying I think...
SAFFRON: Don't think. You don't know enough to think. Now clean up this mess!
RINGO: You do not speak to her like that!
But Saffron ignores him and struts away. Ringo wants Donna to tell her boss to stick it but Donna is under the thumb and says she has to clean up.
RINGO: You're staying? After that?
DONNA: I have to.
RINGO: No you don't you can come home with me.
DONNA: Ringo I'm staying.
RINGO: You are better than this.
He leaves. Donna knows he's right.
Saffron's Work
Donna thanks the models for their work and heads over to Saffron, who is trying to talk some buyers around on the phone but they don't want a bar of her. Thinking they're on friendlier terms, Donna nicely suggests that Saffron chillax for the rest of the day and worry about work tomorrow.
SAFFRON: I don't need advice from you, Donna. That little chat we had earlier never happened. Got it? We're not friends, you work for me.
DONNA: (hurt) Look Saffron this job means everything to me.
SAFFRON: I know I can smell the desperation a mile off.
DONNA: But I'm not your doormat, I'm better than that.
SAFFRON: Oh you think?
DONNA: Yes. The way you talk to people it's no wonder they lose respect for you.
SAFFRON: I beg your pardon!
DONNA: I'm not trying to be rude I'm just trying to make you see what's happening.
SAFFRON: This conversation is over. Finish cleaning up.
Donna turns to leave but changes her mind and tells Saffron that with only six weeks of term left she's going to quit. Seeing red Saffron slaps her square across the face.
SAFFRON: You will never amount to anything!
Donna puts a hand to her stinging cheek, in total disbelief over what just happened.
