Recap
Lucas gets involved with a betting game at the music festival.
Lucas heads out to help find the missing pair: Zeke and Sunny.
Paul holds himself responsible for Jill's death.
Paul commends Declan on how well he is coping with becoming a father.
Rebecca proposes to Paul as he's holding Declan and Bridget's baby.
Paul rejects Rebecca's proposal.
Erinsborough Hospital
Paul offers Rebecca some change for the vending machine. Frustrated, she reminds him that she would've gone to gaol for him.
REBECCA: Don't you love me?
PAUL: Of course I do, I just think you deserve better.
Paul feels being a Robinson 'is like having an anger around your neck'. Rebecca mocks that Paul is protecting her as Declan appears out of Bridget's room.
PAUL: Rebecca. After everything that's happened; keeps on happening, you want to be a Robinson?
Declan cuts in, wanting to know what's going on; they've been gone so long his daughter has started teething! Rebecca assures her son that everything is great. Paul said yes. Paul is shocked. Is Rebecca talking about the same Paul here? Declan is pleased for his mum, so gives her a hug, and completes the deal by shaking Paul by the hand. Declan reveals that it is a surprise, given Paul's reaction in the room earlier, but Paul plays along for Rebecca, claiming it took him a bit by surprise.
Paul makes an exit, claiming he has somewhere to be. Declan, the perfect son, is able to read his mothers face, and is quick to offer her a coffee.
Having grabbed their coffees, Rebecca admits that perhaps Paul didn't say yes. Declan is shocked to hear that his mum recons by saying Paul said yes, then maybe he'll change his mind.
DECLAN: You can't bully someone into marrying you. I should know!
Rebecca doesn't see it as bullying, more Paul not knowing what's good for him. Declan admits Paul has been chasing his mother ever since they arrived in Ramsay Street. Declan wonders if perhaps he has a hidden agenda, he hasn't always been faithful in the past. Rebecca doesn't think that way however, and points out that Paul could easily have left the country a few weeks ago, but didn't; he came back for her.
Charlie's Bar
Rebecca has decided that getting Elle on board will be a good way to persuade Paul to change his mind. At the bar, she tells Elle and Lucas that she and Paul are to wed. Elle is surprised she hasn't heard anything about it from her father. Rebecca asks that she doesn't call him just yet, it would be nice for him to tell her himself.
Rebecca asks Elle to help her look for wedding venues for her; call it a surprise for Paul. Elle isn't convinced, but agrees to help.
Lucas tries to get the sympathy vote from Elle about his back (from when he pulled Sunny out on the rope), but it isn't going to work as she's already on the phone to a potential venue. Lucas tries to back out slowly, but Elle won't let him leave.
ELLE: I don't like weddings either. You do realise this is my dad's sixth!
But with that Lucas has run out the bar, informing Elle not to go anywhere.
Harold's Store
Lucas has come to collect his share of the baby book bets as Lou pours the cash out the envelope. The two men celebrate in how much they have raised, though are quickly interrupted by Steve and Miranda, who point out that Bridget and baby will be receiving half of the funds.
Miranda is keen to get Lou and Lucas to look at the baby snaps, and Steve jokes that the men have no choice. Lucas takes a quick peek, before grabbing his winning share and heading out.
As Lucas leaves, Paul arrives. Lucas takes the opportunity to whistle 'Here comes the bride' while Paul walks past. Steve and Miranda also offer their congratulations as they leave.
The Ramsay kids arrive back from the hospital, having visited Bridget. Paul tries to make conversation, but Harry doesn't see what the big deal is. Paul takes a seat at the table, and watches on as Harry teases Sophie about when she was little.
Charlie's Bar
Rebecca is looking at the photograph of Paul and the baby, when Elle arrives to talk venues. Before Elle can go any further though she needs to know budgets, and assumes Paul will be covering, which means she needs to talk to him. Rebecca asks that she wait a little longer. Elle is finding it all rather weird, and asks Rebecca if there is something she's not telling her.
Harold's Store
Paul watches on as Kate and Sophie help Lou put a red nose on Harold's photo for Comic Relief. Paul goes up to ask for a red nose, but Kate just directs him to the donation box on the counter. Declan, who has been hovering meanwhile, approaches Paul, and asks to talk. With a simple nod, Paul and he head over to a table.
Charlie's Bar
Having revealed the truth, Rebecca admits to Elle that she thought if she got her involved, it might help Paul change his mind.
Harold's Store
Declan enquires as to whether Paul is likely to cheat on Rebecca, but it's the opposite. Paul loves Rebecca dearly.
PAUL: I think she is the most generous, selfless, beautiful woman that I know.
DECLAN: So what's the problem?
PAUL: Me. I think she deserves better, that's all.
Charlie's Bar
ELLE: Maybe he's got a point.
Rebecca feels she could make him a different man, but Elle also mentions that he could also disappoint her.
Harold's Store
Paul is still standing by the fact that he's a man with many flaws. Declan reminds him that his mum is a good judge of character, but she's not going to wait forever.
Charlie's Bar
Rebecca doesn't know how long she would be able to wait for an answer. Elle agrees to help her anyway.
Harold's Store
DECLAN: It's a straight forward question. Are you going to marry mum, or not?
PAUL: I don't know.
Glancing across to the Ramsay kids, Paul explains there are a few things to sort out before he can think about it.
Number 30
Toadie reveals to Libby that he's planning to get a new puppy for Callum, which she okays. Back in the living room, Toadie, along with Steph, Libby and Dan proposes a toast to Bridget and Declan's baby. A second toast is shared for Libby and Dan's surrogacy green light, and a third for the rescue of Zeke and Sunny. It's been a busy old week in Ramsay Street.
Steph announces that Zeke will be moving in with her, which leads Callum to think that everyone else is celebrating something apart from him. Libby comments that he might have something, but Toadie claims nothing is going on.
CALLUM: There is a secret, and you're going to tell me.
TOADIE: How about pizza? Let's get some pizza!
Charlie's Bar
Lucas arrives at the bar, but Elle has disappeared to look at wedding venues. Lucas is disappointed; he wanted to spontaneously surprise her. Lucas begins to head out, but as he does so Steph arrives. She claims she's not skipping work; she just came to get a drink. Continuing with the spontaneous mood he's in, Lucas decides to ask Steph on the trip instead.
Lassiter's Complex
Heading out, bike helmets in hand, Lucas reassures Steph that she can have till Tuesday to get the 'urgent' job done at the garage.
LUCAS: I'm your boss, I'm ordering you to wag.
Lucas reveals they're off to the country races. He saw the advert on the way back from the music festival and has a wodge of cash to spend.
Toadie and Callum wander past. Callum spots Batista (he's a world wrestler for those like me, not in the know). Apparently he's pretty amazing, as young Callum is in awe. The youngster recons that this is his 'surprise' though Toadie warns him not to go running off. Callum doesn't listen however, and is soon introducing himself and a star-struck Toadie to the rather large wrestler.
Callum suggests they take each other on (have a fight), so Batista agrees. He shows young Squid his new move - the handshake. Toadie asks to have a turn.
Harold's Store
Callum spots Libby over at a table and excitedly tells her about meeting Batista. Libby asks about the puppy, but Toadie reveals he still hasn't told him yet. It looks like surprise #2 isn't going to be so exciting.
Over on the other side of the store Paul gives Kate a locket belonging to his mother. He'd like her to have it as a family connection. Harry however isn't so sure, and yells at Paul to get out. Rebecca oversees and Paul quips to her about having him as a husband. Is she still sure after this little tussle? Lou orders Harry to pipe down, leaving Kate to take a closer look at the locket.
In the kitchen, Kate has hung the locket around her neck, when Harry comes in. He starts to vent over Paul, claiming that he was never around when they were growing up, so why is he trying to be nice now.
Lassiter's Lake
Having escaped Harold's, Paul wanders across to the lake. Rebecca has followed. She commends him for reaching out to Kate in the store.
REBECCA: You're a good man, Paul Robinson.
PAUL: Can we talk about something else?
REBECCA: No. No we can't. Look if you don't want to marry me because some boy calls you a loser then...
PAUL: It's not that. He's right; I have done nothing to be proud of.
REBECCA: Will you stop feeling sorry for yourself.
PAUL: Maybe if you stop trying to marry me I would.
Rebecca's face falls.
REBECCA: You're such a coward.
PAUL: What, for saying no?
REBECCA: For taking the easy way out.
He holds on to her hand.
PAUL: Rebecca I've got four ex-wives who hate my guts. I don't want another one.
REBECCA: Right. I've embarrassed myself enough. Maybe you're right, if you don't want to marry me then maybe you are a loser.
She walks away.
Number 26
Steve, Miranda and Declan are heading back out to the hospital as Rebecca arrives home, declaring the wedding is off. Declan asks his mum about details, but she announces Paul isn't interested and she would rather drop the subject. She agrees to come and visit Bridget with them.
Just as they head out the door, Paul arrives. Rebecca asks that the others wait outside as it won't take long. Paul admits he's been an idiot; he thought he didn't deserve her, as all he's ever done is hurt those he loves. Rebecca thinks it's nonsense, and doesn't want to hear it all again.
PAUL: When I'm with you, I'm a better man, truly.
He reaches into his pocket, and pulls out the engagement ring. Rebecca is touched that he kept the ring. Picking it out of the case, Paul places it onto her finger. Rebecca gazes at him; speechless.
PAUL: You're not going to make me get down on my only good knee are you?
Rebecca just smiles.
REBECCA: It's still beautiful.
PAUL: The answer's yes.
They hug and enjoy a kiss.
Charlie's Bar
Lucas and Steph arrive back from the races. Steph recons track conditions, jockeys and positions have nothing to do with it - it's all about the name of the horse. Lucas isn't so convinced, but congratulates her on her win. She thanks him for the day, it was worth it. He warns her they'll have to work extra hard on Monday, but she is more than happy to; today has helped her get over Greg and enjoy life again.
They share a mate to mate hug - just as Elle arrives. Lucas greets Elle with a kiss, and explains he tried to call. Steph heads off to leave them to it. Lucas explains to Elle that it was a spontaneous trip meant for her, but she had gone out. He offers to make it up to her with a meal at a flash restaurant. Elle is impressed.
Just before they head out, Rebecca catches up with them. She informs Elle that they will need a wedding venue after all. The girls celebrate with a hug, while Lucas watches on.
Harold's Store
Harry spots Kate wearing the locket and gets annoyed. Kate points out that Paul did not wreck their family, but Harry doesn't see it that way; thanks to him, they've got no one. It's Kate's turn to get annoyed; they've got each other.
KATE: Like it or not, we are related to these Robinsons. They're the only family we've got.
HARRY: No, Sophie and me. We're the only family you've got.
Kate can't promise Harry that she'll stay away from the Robinson's, which is one step too much for Harry. He has had enough, and declares to his sister that he's packing his things and going.
Lassiter's Complex
Kate chases after Harry, keen to know where he is heading, but Harry won't say. Kate warns that they'll take Sophie away if he goes, but it won't sway his mind. Dan and Libby arrive, so Dan takes over chasing after Harry leaving Libby to comfort Kate.
Dan offers Harry a lift, but it doesn't go down well. Kate asks that he doesn't give up, but Dan identifies that Harry just needs some time to calm down.
