Recap
- Mickey telling Janae he loves her, and she tells him back.
- Steve being suspicious of Julia, wondering what her motives are for helping Karl.
- Riley asking Miranda if he can come back to Erinsborough with them.
- Karl realising that Julia set him up; Karl being thrown against a wall.
Warehouse (aka the place they keep the studio sets when not in use)
Julia apologises to Karl for setting him up, and tells him that if he can get to the computer, he can prove that the drugs problem is nothing to do with him. Karl reminds his PA that the security guard holding them has a gun, and they can't get away in order to *get* to the computer. So Julia dramatically falls to the ground pretending to be in pain, diverts the guard's attention, and Karl makes a run for it...
Outside the warehouse Karl hides behind a car, and calls his new bestest friend Steve.
Cutting between Number 26 and the warehouse, Steve answers the phone and asks Karl what's happening. Annoyingly, Rachel snatches the phone to ask Karl if he's alright. Karl demands she pass him back to Steve, but Rachel clearly doesn't understand the urgency of the situation and says that Zeke would like a word, too. Karl tells her again that he wants to speak to Steve, so she sulkily hands the phone back. Get over it, love! Life or death situation here for Special Agent Kennedy!
Karl tells Steve to ring him in 15 seconds, then go and meet him at his office. He puts the phone down, and the kids wants to know what's happening. Steve stalls a little, and then calls Karl back. In the warehouse car park, the guard drags to Julia to the sound of the ringing phone - and it's sitting alone on the ground. Karl is nowhere to be seen. Julia makes a run for it, and Karl comes raring round the corner in his car...
Number 22 where the scene is Very Short
There's a knock at the door and it's the elusive Kirsten, looking for Mickey. Elle smartly tells her that Ned's moved in with his girlfriend, Janae and they love having Mickey around. Kirsten looks put out.
Vivex HQ where Special Agent Kennedy wins the Day
Karl arrives to find the police clearing his office. He yells out that he's being set up, but Christian appears tells him not to make a scene. Karl tries to warn the other execs that they're selling dud drugs, and Christian tells them to get back to work.
Karl is arrested by a plain clothes police officer, and Julia comes up in the lift, appearing in front of him. She says nothing in his defence. Just as Karl is being escorted into one lift, Steve and the kids come out of another. You mean, just as a police raid is happening in this office, two kids in school uniform and a mate of an exec are just allowed through security into the building??! Unbelievable!
Rachel tells Karl to explain what's happened to the police, and Steve defends his mate. But it's all pointless......until Julia steps in. She says that she and Christian set Karl up. The incriminating files on SA Kennedy's computer were written by Christian, and she has the originals on a CD which she plucks from her handbag like Agent Scully in a crisis. Wow, this is all very X-Files.
Karl looks mightily pleased with himself, and smiles at Julia.
Number 26 where everyone Is Reunited
Janae and Ned arrive home and start a little bit of kissing. But they're stopped by Miranda, Bridget and Riley walking through the door. Miranda introduces Janae as a mechanic, and so Riley tells her that his car's making a whirr-y noise.
Steve arrives home to see his son, thrilled that he's come home with them. Janae and Ned offer to go get stuff from the car, and the Parkers are left alone with their son and daughter. Steve wonders how long Riley's staying; Miranda suggests a couple of weeks, and Riley suggests a couple of days. Bridget suggests at least he could stay for breakfast.
Charlie's Bar where there is a Rock And a Hard Place
Kirsten is meeting with Toadie to talk about taking custody of her son. She tells him the circumstances of where her son grew up and where he is now. Toadie advises that the courts look at the best interests in the child, so he'll need to look into the specific details. He also tells her that the courts prefer to keep the child where he is right now, until the custody case is over to prevent too much change for the child. He asks if there's any access agreement with the child, and she says no - in fact, the father didn't even know he was the father...
TOADIE: Your son's name isn't Mickey, is it?
KIRSTEN: How did you know?
TOADIE: I'm one of Ned's best mates.
KIRSTEN: Ah.
TOADIE: Yeah.
Kirsten doesn't want Toadie to tell Ned anything she's just said - he has to keep it in confidence because of that lawyer's oath thing. In fact, if he breathes a word of this to Ned, she'll make sure that his new office shuts down as quickly as it opens...
Number 26 where Steve Parker Lies
Bridget and Riley are chatting, and Janae shows Didge how to throw a punch. She and Ned then leave to get Riley's car to the garage to be fixed.
BRIDGET: She's cool, isn't she?
RILEY: Yeah, awesome. And with Ned. Amazing.
Mmmm. Be assured that you're not the only one who thinks that, Riley.
In the kitchen, Miranda is trying to tell Steve something about Riley, and she makes him promise not to flip out over it, first.
MIRANDA: He dropped out of uni.
STEVE: WHAT? (he gets up, furious)
MIRANDA: You swore!
STEVE: I lied.
MIRANDA: Steve!
Steve marches into the lounge area, furious at his son for dropping out of vet science because it's really hard to get into. He can't believe that his son is going to throw this all away. Riley looks resigned and fed up.
The General Store where the heroic tale is told Once More
Zeke is relaying Special Agent Kennedy's heroic tale to Lou.
LOU: I guess that means you're out of a job.
KARL: I'm just glad I'm not going to prison.
Zeke thinks Karl was really brave, and his words mean a lot to Karl. Aw. Rachel and Ringo are chatting about school and wondering if they're going to get a detention for being late. Karl offers them a lift, and the camera pans to Carmella and Oliver who are chatting at a table. Oliver is being very non-committal in his answers, and Carmella realises that her mother must have said something to him; she wants to know what it was...
Number 26 where Steve has to face The Truth
The Parker family (minus Ned and Mickey) are sitting in the lounge room. Riley is trying to explain that he was doing really well at uni, but he didn't want to be a vet, after all. Steve can't believe that he was one semester away from a practical vet placement, and Riley retorts that he loves animals in that he wants a dog to go running with. But he doesn't want to be a vet. He wonders why his dad can't just help him figure out what he really wants to do.
STEVE: Then why the hell leave the course before you've even figured it out?
MIRANDA: Steve...
RILEY: I'm not going to work anything out with my head full of stuff I hate, am I?
STEVE: Do you have any idea of how much we spent on fees for this course?
RILEY: I never asked for that!
STEVE: No, but you took it!
MIRANDA: Steve! Kitchen!
Miranda marches Steve out of the lounge area, and tells him that yelling at Riley isn't going to help. In fact, she thinks this is about him.
STEVE: What!? What do you mean?
MIRANDA: Well, you've always loved the idea of Parker and Son...
STEVE: (pause) I...I did not push him into that course...
MIRANDA: Not just a little bit?
The General Store where Carmella Denies All Knowledge
Carmy learns that Lucia told Oliver that Carmella was still in love with him. She immediately denies it, and they agree that the baby's more important and they should go back to being friends before her mother got involved.
Charlie's Bar where Steph Gets It
Riley is trying to buy a coffee without enough money, so Steph takes what he has and says he can have a coffee anyway. She introduces herself, and tells him that she's running for local council. He tells her that he's a surfer, travelling down the coast. He also says that his parents aren't happy with his lifestyle, but Steph says they're probably only unhappy because they care. She knows that, because she's always had protective parents.
Didge appears, looking for Riley.
STEPH: Oh! Are you the missing Parker?
Steph tells them to sit down - she'll bring the coffee over. Riley tells Didge that he won't come back, as their parents will only lecture him about wasting their money. Bridget thinks that's fair enough - after all, they're broke. They spend a lot of money on the move and the setting up of the vet clinic. Riley didn't realise.
Back at the bar, Toadie tells Steph that he's done something stupid, and he can't undo it. And he also can't tell her because of client confidentiality.
TOADIE: I'm not allowed to tell you to tell Ned that Mickey's mum is back in town.
STEPH: (wide eyed) Okay.
TOADIE: And I'm definitely not allowed to tell you to tell Ned that he should find Mickey and not let him out of his sight.
Steph gets it, and legs it out of the bar.
The Garage where there's a blanket in The Van
Ned and Janae have fixed the whirr on Riley's van. Whirrrrrr. Rrrrrrr.
Miranda calls Ned on his mobile: could he hold off fixing Riley's van?? Too late, Ned tells her, it's done. Miranda explains that Riley's threatening to leave, and so Ned and Janae agree to lie and hang onto it!
Janae leads Ned into the back of Riley's van which looks all rather comfortable with a blanket inside. She wants some Ned Lovin'. I'm sure there's a reason why, but I'm yet to find it. His phone rings again, and it's Steph, but Janae tells him to leave it...
The General Store where Carmella is actually Amusing
Carmy and Oliver are chatting about Frazer's baby fixation, and how Rosie isn't interested, not right now. Oliver thinks it's funny that Frazer wants a baby but isn't going to get one, whilst he and Carmella didn't want a baby but are going to have one. He's also looking forward to Oliver Junior - OJ - being born. Carmella likes the smell of Oli's coffee, but she can't have the caffeine.
CARMELLA: I'm Italian. We go straight from breast milk to espresso.
That's quite a funny line coming from Carmella.
Charlie's Bar where Steve is Honest With Riley
Steve has arrived to talk to Riley, who tells his dad that he didn't know about their financial problems, and that he did appreciate the help his dad gave with uni. Riley also says he's sorry that his dad is disappointed he dropped out. Steve says that he just wants to see his son excited about something. He also wonders if he pushed Riley into it, and what his plan is, now, for life. Riley has a few ideas: a cadetship for writing.
STEVE: I'll support you whatever you do, you know.
RILEY: Thanks.
STEVE: All I've ever wanted for you and your sister is just for you to be happy, that's all.
RILEY: Um, I know.
He doesn't look convinced.
The General Store where I love Nachos
Lou is showing Mickey how to make cheesy nachos! Yum! Mickey thinks this is great! Lou asks Mickey how it's gone, raising money with the Russian hats. Mickey says he's raised more than anyone else, and no-one's teasing him anymore. He'd also like to do something else, and Lou suggests go-karting. Mickey throws his arms around Lou...until Kirsten walks in.
Mickey runs to his mother who sweeps him up in her arms.
Charlie's Bar
Toadie comes to the bar Steph says she has left a message for Ned, but hasn't spoken to him. Toadie is concerned, but tries not to panic too much...
The General Store
Kirsten is chatting to Mickey who says that he missed his mum. He tells her what he's been up to, and that he calls Lou 'pop'. Kirsten doesn't seem to mind. But when Lou goes away, she suggests to Mickey that she and him go an adventure together, and don't tell anyone else. Mickey wants to take Jake with them; Kirsten eventually agrees, as long as Mickey doesn't tell *anyone* what he's doing.
