Recap
Boyd telling Janae that he would do anything for a second chance with her.
Karl telling the Kennedy-Kinski's not to worry about his trip to London, because he will be back before they know it, and Susan not looking too sure.
Oliver being told he needs to know something about his family by Alan Napier, who is having a heart attack.
Oliver's Car
Elle can't see what the problem is, after all Oliver has got his inheritance, but Oliver says that isn't all he cares about, he has known Alan since he was very young and now he could be dying. Elle apologises, saying that she didn't mean to be so heartless, and she must be spending too much time with her dad, I have to say, heartlessness seems to be something that Elle has never had a problem expressing, so it is a wonder that Oliver is taking it all in. Elle tries to raise the sombre mood, by telling Oliver that she is sure that Alan will be OK, Oliver doesn't look too convinced, and thinks that Alan was trying to tell him something before he passed out, and he thinks that it was important. Elle queries what it was, but Oliver coldly tells her that it that it is personal, and Elle doesn't look too pleased at the brush off.
Doctor's Office- In the Middle Of the Night
A shadowy figure is in the doctor's office, it doesn't seem that they are meant to be there from the way that they are behaving, it is obviously a woman, as she takes the certificate from the wall, and puts it in her bag, as she heads for the door, she also picks up the doctor's coat and stethoscope and places that in her jacket too.
The Scarlet Bar
Janae is sitting minding her own business in the bar, when her loving husband Boyd comes over, remember the husband who only two weeks ago declared the marriage over to shack up with Glenn, now decides that actually he wants Janae after all, even though the way he has behaved towards her has been despicable. Boyd asks Janae if she wants anything, and she says that what she really wants is a maths brain, she is looking at some figures, and it looks like she is having a bit of trouble with it. Boyd tells her that she is good at maths, in fact she is good at a lot of things, but sometimes her confidence lets her down. Janae mocks him, saying sarcastically that she wonders why her self confidence may be low, now could it be because her husband has recently dumped her? Boyd instead of apologising like maybe he should at this point, woefully says that she will never forgive him.
BOYD: You could take me back just to punish me. I'll have whatever I can get.
JANAE: I think that was the problem in the first place.
Nice come back from Janae, and Boyd disappears to lick his wounds. He goes to the bar, and flirts with three girls who are sitting there. He rubs things in further for Janae by inviting the girls to hit the clubs with him, once he has finished his shift.
Janae suddenly comes to, and it seems that the last few seconds were a dream, there are three girls staring at Boyd from the bar, but is seems that Janae was imagining Boyd's flirting with them. Boyd tells Janae that she was staring, and wonders if there is something wrong, Janae accused Boyd of trying it on with the three girls at the bar, but he assures her that he wasn't.
BOYD: What do I have to do to convince you, that I am not interested in anyone but you, and I never will be.
JANAE: We could just add never have been to that, we would be right as rain.
Boyd dejected changes the subject, telling Janae that he has got an interview for the receptionist to the new doctor after lunch. Janae tells Boyd that with two jobs anyone would think that he didn't want to have a life, he assures her that he does want to have a life, he wants to have a life with her. Boyd says that when Steph is back soon, she will manage nights at the bar, and he will work during the day, so that he and Janae can spend their evenings together looking after Charlie.
JANAE: Do what you like, just don't count on doing it with me.
Boyd again looks dejected.
The Doctor's surgery
A new medical certificate in the name of 'Doctor Charlotte Stone' is being hung on the wall, and other bits of doctor kit is being placed around the room, when the camera zooms out, we see that the woman doing it, presumably Doctor Charlotte Stone, is the same woman who was in the surgery the night before taking the previous certificate from the wall, is all that it seems with the new doctor? There is a knock on the door, and it is Boyd there for his interview. Boyd asks for Doctor Stone, and the woman tells her that she is Doctor Stone. Boyd seems surprised and says that she is a lot younger than he expected, she says that she will take it as a compliment. Boyd sits down for his interview, and the doctor asks him some questions before telling him about her career.
BOYD: You're the doctor
DOCTOR STONE (at first a little unsure): Yes I am the doctor. A passionate one too. I'm totally dedicated to my job, it's my life.
BOYD: That's great.
DOCTOR STONE: I'm not sure other people really get it sometimes.
It seems that there is something not quite right with the doctor, but she tells Boyd that she will be in touch after she has seen her applicants. Boyd leaves and the doctor shiftily looks at him on his way out, it Boyd the ally that she is looking for.
Number 28
Susan sounds delighted as she answers the phone to Karl. Susan asks how Holly is, but seems disgruntled when it seems that on the other end of the phone, Karl is not keen to talk about that with Susan. She says that it is fine if that is the case, but tells him that she has to go because there is someone at the door, her earlier delight at speaking to Karl, seems to have disappeared as she half heartedly tells him that they will speak later. Not so much as an 'I love you' at the end of the conversation, which is disappointing for a pair of newly weds.
But alas Susan has to see who is at the door, and when she answers it she is more than shocked (to say the least) to see that it is a very smart and healthy looking Tom Scully!!!!!!
TOM: Wow, love the new hairstyle.
SUSAN: Tom!!
Tom laughs, and Susan has a cheeky grin on her face as she stares at the man she once loved. It looks like she is delighted to see him.
After the break Susan and Tom are having a catch up while Susan puts the kettle on. Susan tells him that he was the last person she was expecting to see, and asks what he has been up to. Tom tells her that he has been spending his time shaking off the after effects of the dog collar.
TOM: It's so easy to take the man out of the church, it's so much harder to take the church out of the man.
Susan is sympathetic, Tom apologises for the fact that it took so long. Susan assures him that it is all in the past now, but Tom is not so sure.
TOM: When I left, I asked you if I was in the neighbourhood, should I drop in, you said yes.
SUSAN: Yes, and then I hear nothing for you in nearly three years.
TOM: There wasn't a day I didn't think about you.
SUSAN: Oh Tom.
TOM: I couldn't give you wanted then, but now I can.
SUSAN: Oh Tom no, it's not possible so much has changed.
TOM: Look Susan, I know this is crazy, but I have never stopped loving you, and all I thought about was us being together.
Susan sighs, it seems that she is reluctant to tell Tom of her marriage to Karl, and the Susom spark still seems to be there.
The Hospital Corridor
Carmella, who is visiting Frazer, runs into Oliver. She tells him that he can go in to see Frazer, as he is in really good form, but Oliver says that actually he is there to see Alan Napier, who has just gone in to surgery. Carmella wonders if Oliver has harmed him, but Oliver assures her that he hasn't. He tells her that the inheritance is his again, Alan Napier gave it all back. Carmella congratulates him. Oliver says that just before Napier had the heart attack, he started telling him something about his family not being fair to him, Carmella assumes that he was just rambling, but Oliver thinks that there may be more to it. He tells her that the suspense is killing him, but Carmella tells him that she thinks that there is also a part of him that may want to let sleeping dogs lie. As Carmella affectionately rubs Oliver's shoulder, an uneasy Elle looks on.
Number 28
Susan and Tom are still having a catch up, but Susan is a bit dumb-founded at what Tom has just said to her.
SUSAN: Tom, you didn't really expect to walk back in to my life, and find everything just as it was.
TOM: I know this is out of the blue.
SUSAN: Haven't you even spoken to Lyn?
TOM: No, I've been out of touch with everyone, I thought it was for the best.
SUSAN: The best? Best for who? Best for you? You walk out of here, I hear nothing from you, I have no way to contact you. I just assumed that you had moved on with your life, as have I.
TOM: You're seeing someone?
SUSAN: Tom, I've been married and widowed since I saw you last, I have two step children now.
TOM: I had no idea.
SUSAN: And I've married again, just a couple of weeks ago, I re-married Karl.
TOM: After the way he cheated on you. You took him back again?
SUSAN: Yes, yes Tom I did, and I think that you should probably keep your opinions about that to yourself.
TOM: How can you think that a man like that is worthy of you?
SUSAN: I'm not stupid Tom, he's changed. Oh what, you're the only person on the planet capable of change.
TOM: Susan, I believe people can change, but just not that much.
SUSAN: Oh fine, good Tom thanks, goodbye.
TOM: If he cheated on you once, he'll do it again.
Tom leaves, as Susan looks on thoughtfully, obviously uneasy with Tom's words, and certainly not helped by the fact that Susan seems insecure about Karl's trip to London at the present time.
Number 22
Paul is opening yet another bottle of champagne, I hate to think what that man spends on champagne, as Elle comes home. Paul asks how the meeting went, and Elle says that it was good for Oliver, he got the lot. A sneaky smile spreads across Paul's face as he hears the news. Paul is delighted, and wants to drink to the soon to be very very wealthy Mrs Barnes, but Elle is rather glum looking. She tells Paul that Oliver is not on the verge of popping the question. Paul tells her that she should cheer up, she has Oliver hooked, all she has to do is reel him in. He tells Elle that Toadie should draw up the pre-nup, as he is obviously a better lawyer than Paul is paying him to be, but Elle is quick to point out that it had nothing to do with Toadie, Alan handed it all over no contest. Paul doesn't understand why, but Elle tells him, that maybe it was the moral thing to do, and he didn't want to die with all the guilt. A serious Elle tells her father that Napier had a heart attack, but Paul seems more concerned as to whether he signed the contract first or not. Elle tells him that he signed the contract, and Paul is relieved. Elle then mentions that Napier said something else to Oliver as he was having the heart attack, that freaked Oliver out, and Oliver wouldn't tell her what it was. She tells Paul that she doesn't think that Oliver completely trusts her. An angry Paul tells her to make him trust her, and make sure that she stays in the loop. Paul tells Elle that she should get to the hospital, hold Oliver's hand through his worry, and exploit his vulnerability, but Elle says that Carmella is already there, and probably not exploiting anything. Paul is not interested in what Elle has to say, and tells her, that falling for Oliver has made her go soft. Paul asks Elle if she has definitely fallen for him, eager that the answer should be yes, and Elle gives him that answer, even if she is not entirely convincing. Paul tells her to keep going, as the money is nearly theirs. Elle tells Paul that he is right, and she has to keep her eye on the goal.
The Hospital
Carmella tells a worried looking Oliver, that Napier had bypass surgery and is in intensive care. Oliver thanks Carmella for her support, and Carmella tells them that they can still be good friends. Oliver tells Carmella that she looks terrible and needs to get some sleep badly, and she tells him that she is working on it. Carmella disappears when Elle arrives.
Elle is quick to think that things are back on with Carmella, but he assures her that it's not, things are well beyond the point of no return there, Elle says that she will understand if Oliver wants to forget about their arrangement, but she says that he doesn't. He also thinks that it is no wonder that Elle has got her dad fooled because she actually sounds jealous. Elle says that she thinks that she might really be falling for him, but Oliver thinks that she is kidding, and that he thinks that she will have everyone fooled. She asks what it was that Napier said, Oliver is still reluctant to give anything away, but suggests that they go and have lunch and he will tell her what he knows.
The Surgery
Carmella seems to be the first patient for Dr Stone. Carmella tells her that she is not sleeping well at all, and thinks that she is running out of steam and doesn't know how much longer she can go on in this state. She says that it is affecting her, and she almost drowned in the pool. Carmella is getting upset, she says that there is a guy who she knows who is helping her, but she feels even worse when he is around, as she loves him so much and she lost him. She feels like she is falling apart and really needs help. Carmella is in tears as she asks the doctor to help her.
The doctor is massaging Carmella's hand sympathetically, as Carmella tells her she doesn't know how to fall out of love with the man, who is obviously Oliver. The doctor tells her that it is hard to turn your feelings off for someone, she has been in the same boat herself a million times. The doctor tells her that the best course of action is trying to come to terms with it, so that she can move on with her life, but first of all, she will have to get her sleeping better first, so that she is more equipped to deal with things. Carmella comments that the massage that the doctor is giving is actually relaxing her, the doctor says that it is a case of knowing the right pressure points, she tells Carmella that she has done a lot of study in non-Western medicine. Carmella says that she must be wonder-woman, if she has managed that as well as getting a medical degree, but the doctor is modest in accepting the compliment.
Carmella asks if she can prescribe something for her insomnia, but the doctor says that she prefers to medicate as a last resort, and suggests that tonight she takes a warm bath, and has a cup of chamomile tea before bed, try to relax and see how she goes. Carmella is sceptical as to whether or not is going to work. The doctor says that un-burdening her troubles should have helped, and if she doesn't get a good sleep tonight, come back tomorrow and she will prescribe something.
The Scarlet Bar
Janae seeks out Boyd to ask for the keys to his place. Boyd assumes it's so that she can move back in, but Janae tells him that she just wants to pick up the last of her things. Before Boyd can answer, they are interrupted by Dr Stone, who is looking for Boyd, as she has left a message on his voice mail. The Doctor Introduces herself to Janae as 'Charlotte' and Boyd introduces Janae as his wife. The doctor seems surprised to learn that Boyd is married, but Janae is quick to point out that actually she is his ex-wife.
BOYD: But we're not divorced yet.
JANAE: We're not married either. We're separated. Don't worry, he was a lousy husband, but I'm sure he'll be a great receptionist.
Janae disappears leaving an awkward and embarrassed Boyd with the doctor. The doctor tells Boyd that she wants to offer him the job, but first she tells him that she has a test. She takes out her notepad, and asks Boyd how he would treat a patient suffering from insomnia, exhaustion and melancholy. Boyd suggests no caffeine, meditation and no spicy foods. The doctor says that she doesn't want answers that anyone could give her from the internet, she wants the medical opinion, so a thoughtful Boyd suggests prescribing a mild sedative for short term relief of the insomnia, and probably a blood test to determine if there was a physical cause, but if the underlying problem seemed to be an emotional one, he would consider a mood stabiliser. The doctor tells him that it's an excellent answer, and if he can name the medications, they can discuss when he can start. Janae looks on suspiciously, having heard the conversation.
The Surgery
Dr Stone approaches Boyd from behind starts to stroke his hair, then Boyd turns around, and they start to kiss.
The Scarlet Bar
But again it seems that this was all a figment of Janae's imagination, as she again comes to in the bar. She is interrupted from her day-dream by Susan, who tells her that she looks positively dangerous, and as if she wants to kill someone. Janae apologises and asks if she can talk to Susan. Susan says that of course she can, but Janae doesn't think it would be a good idea to talk in the bar, so Susan asks her over to her house.
Number 28
Janae tells Susan that she keeps having flashes, imagining Boyd cracking on to other chicks, and seeks reassurance from Susan, that it is a sign for her to steer clear of Boyd. Susan says that she has every reason not to trust Boyd, and that she thinks that the flashes are Janae's common sense reminding her of that. Janae asks if Susan had any doubts when she took Karl back, and Susan says that she trusted him completely at the time, otherwise she wouldn't have reconciled with him. Janae tells Susan that she is amazing. She thinks that it is amazing that Susan could be so secure and cool about her new husband being on the other side of the world with his ex and their baby. She says that maybe that is the difference between she and Susan, Janae thinks that Susan is confident and secure, and she is just a fool. But Susan looks anything but confident as she listens to what Janae is saying. Susan gives Janae a hug, and tells her that she doesn't think that they are really all that different. Her lack of security and confidence concerning Karl seems to be written all over her face as she hugs Janae, though Janae can't see it.
The Surgery
Carmella is back at the surgery first thing, to tell the doctor that none of her advice worked, and she has still not slept. Carmella says that she is going out of her mind because of the exhaustion, so Dr Stone says that she will have to prescribe something. She takes out her prescription pad, and tells Carmella what she is giving her are quite mild, so try one at first, and if it doesn't help up the dosage to two. Carmella asks if it will also help with her lack of energy, and the doctor doesn't seem too sure, so says that she will prescribe something else for that, just in case the underlying problem is emotional. It seems that she is repeating what Boyd told her yesterday. Carmella asks what it is that she is being prescribed, the doctor gives the very medical sounding answer of 'it's a sort of super-multi vitamin,' which will help with her energy levels and improve her general outlook. Carmella says that it sounds fantastic, and thanks the doctor for being so wonderful.
The Scarlet Bar
Janae meets Susan, she tells her that she was actually just knocking on her door, but Susan tells her that she came to the bar as she needed a distraction, the silent phone was driving her nuts. Janae asks if Karl is being slacked, but Susan tells her that it is not that, it is today that she will find out whether or not she got the principle's position at the school. Janae tells her that of course she will get it. Susan is not so sure, and hopes that all the other candidates are duds. Janae says that compared to her, everyone else is a dud, she tells Susan that after their chat last night she went home and cried and cried for hours, she thinks that it is great as she feels so much clearer about things today. Susan asks if that means that she knows what she is going to do about Boyd, but Janae says that she doesn't know yet, but she is clear that she has actually got no idea. Janae thanks Susan again, and goes home to feed the troops.
Paul smugly walks in and asks Susan if there is any news on Izzy and the baby, saying that there is only so much he can learn from the UK tabloids. Susan looks at Paul's gloating face, and assumes that he knew about the baby before Izzy left. Paul admits that he did, but his first loyalty had to be to Izzy, after all that they had been through together, and besides he thinks that he was doing Susan a favour as it allowed her to have seven months of ignorant bliss with Karl, Paul says that he will bet that even now Susan would prefer not to know. Susan doesn't answer, but Paul takes that as answer enough and smugly gets up to leave, just as Tom walks through the door.
Susan is in a bad mood by the time Tom approaches her table and asks to sit down, but she tells him not to. Tom thinks that they need to talk, but Susan assures him that she has said everything that she had to say yesterday.
TOM: We need to talk.
SUSAN: No we don't Tom, I said everything that I needed to say yesterday, and I would appreciate it if you respect my wishes and just leave me alone.
TOM: Just give me a moment Susan please, there is something that I didn't get a chance to tell you.
SUSAN: I'm really not interested, it's best that we just don't see each other.
TOM: Well that's just it, we won't have a choice. I have just accepted a position here, I'm the new Principal of Erinsborough High.
Well what can Susan say to that, not only has the poor woman found out that she didn't get the job that she was going for in such an awful manner, but to rub salt into the wound she finds out that Tom got it over her in one fell swoop. Susan is shocked.
