London!
Yes I haven't typed it wrong, the cast and crew have descended on London and we get to see some of the sights that those on the NeighboursFans.com meet up saw at the start of the month - London Bridge and the Houses of Parliament, Trafalgar Square and Nelson's Column, the London Eye, The Mall and Buckingham Palace, Eros and Piccadilly Circus, Whitehall (I can recommend good accommodation and pubs in that location!), Charring Cross and the busy London traffic before we see Karl walking down a side street frantically trying to book accommodation. His call is unsuccessful and he accosts a football player but Pete thinks he is a journalist after a scoop about an affair he is allegedly not having and does his best to avoid the stalker fan until he gets into a car! Karl's persistence that he isn't a journalist but simply a fan (and telling Pete his life story!) eventually wins and he gets what he was after, Pete's autograph. However I don't think Karl's parting comment of "I hope you get your form back" goes down very well with the player.
Susan meets up with Karl, laden down after shopping, and while he is keen to say who he has met, she is less than enamoured, although the bit about the affair does interest her. Karl then spots the bags and starts to wonder what she hasn't bought! Susan changes tact and asks about where they are staying in London and if it is gorgeous.
KARL: It's very quaint. It's cosy, very old London.
SUSAN: It sounds so posh; I can't wait to see it.
Karl quickly gets her off of the topic of where they are staying to be spontaneous and they run onto an open top tour bus where we see more sights of London and the fact Karl has a ring box in his pocket!
Yarra Valley
From one heavily populated area to a sparsely populated one as we join Elle and Ollie on horseback going through the bush and while the weather was fine in London, it's teaming it down in Australia!
Elle is glad the weather is wet while Ollie admires the scenery but somehow even in the middle of nowhere, Ollie's mobile starts to ring! I'd love to know which mobile phone company he is with! Turns to the caller is Carmella but since Oliver is having a bit of trouble getting his phone out of his bum bag, Elle helps him then promptly throws the phone into the river they have stopped by, although she pleads her innocence to him. He isn't too upset his mobile is knackered and takes it as a sign it wasn't meant to take the call.
Scarlet Bar
Toadie rushes into the bar and apologises to Abby for taking a call despite her being all set to leave. She tells him that she knows it wasn't a business call he was taking but rather going after Steph and given he is back, was obviously unsuccessful. Toadie doesn't deny it but she doesn't buy his reason for returning - that he was worried about her.
ABBY: If you caught up with Steph, you wouldn't care less about me or Zoë.
TOADIE: That's not true.
ABBY: Oh please, you're a nice guy but don't lie to me.
Toad protests that he isn't and that he does care about Zoë but Abby informs him that she isn't going to be his consolation prize and calls things between them off before walking out of the bar.
No. 30
Pepper gets a shock when she comes home to find her secret admirer has sent her another present - a bunch of red balloons and a card saying just 'Pepper' to accompany them. Rosie wonders what the 'congratulations' written on the balloon signifies and Pepper thinks its her cool dancing because she thinks it was the instructor guy who is responsible for sending them.
Eventually the conversation gets round to Carmella and she is still puzzled as to who bombed the Moco van and Rosie issues some good sibling advice - let the police handle it. Rosie then forces Carmella out of the house so they can find the missing Oliver given he isn't taking any calls. Pepper is forced along for her own good, when she starts drooling over the guy sending her the balloons.
Bush
Elle does what is best at - putting on an act when he is thinking of Carmella (and trying see if his phone is working) about why Dylan broke her heart, just to get his attention. Ollie falls for it hook, line and sinker and pulls her into a hug before offering her a deal - to forget everything else and enjoy themselves - and miraculously the tears have disappeared and smile returns to Elle's face. Elle finds a way they can enjoy themselves - splashing each other with water.
London
More sights of London before we join the open top bus going round London with Karl declaring that he loves Susan while she tries to work out where they are on the map! A quick kiss later, Karl turns his back on Susan to get the ring box out of his jacket (it must be cold in London as they have thick coats on and Susan is wearing gloves too).
SUSAN: What are you doing?
KARL: Something I've wanted to do for a very long time.
Susan shrugs her eyebrows at him and he gets up in an attempt to do down on one knee but the bus stars to sway a little and the ring box accidentally gets thrown overboard! Susan is wondering what is wrong as Karl moves like you have never seen him move before in hastily getting off the bus to try and retrieve the box, leaving Susan mystified on the top deck. While he is running back to get the box, the bus takes off without him!
Scarlet Bar
Carmella praises her sister when she finds out where Ollie and Elle are staying but they wonder how they will get there because their transport is otherwise engaged but they beg Toadie who has just walked into the bar into borrowing his car for a few hours (his attention span is a bit limited because he's just seen Abby sitting alone at a table).
Before they leave, Rosie asks if he has heard from Steph, he hasn't, and if he is okay to which he replies that he is before handing over his car keys and wishing her a good day. Just as he is about to head over to talk to Abby, a random older male comes back with two wines to her table - it looks like she has a client to entertain.
Yarra Valley
Elle and Ollie are well and truly soaked and he winds her up by saying he let his pet crocodile go in the area when he was a kid because it was too big to look after. Elle isn't amused though when he stands on her foot (they are at the waters edge) claming it is a crocodile. She gets her revenge though by throwing some sandy sediment at him citing it is good for the complexion and yes you can guess what is coming next - they start throwing it at each other, getting messier and wetter by the minute until Ollie calls a truce.
The truce results in them being very close together ie so they are ready to pash but just as they are about to, he calls it off because it would have been wrong. Ollie is very apologetic despite Elle saying there is no need to be and suggests they head back to base camp to clean up.
London
More sights before we see a dejected Karl leaning against a bollard because he hasn't found the ring but to his rescue isn't Superman but Spice Girl Emma Bunton! He is more relived to see the box rather than who found it.
KARL: Oh thank you, thank you, you're a star!
EMMA BUNTON: Oh thanks.
He then introduces himself to her (and shows her the ring) but he still hasn't a clue who she is until Susan arrives and is gobsmacked to find who he is talking to. She is the one who is all starstruck and Karl has to prise her off of shaking Emma's hand. Emma comes to his rescue in covering up how they really met and he gets another autograph for his guide book before she leaves.
Susan decides she's had enough of the sightseeing and wants to spend time in their luxurious hotel despite Karl saying there is still more to see.
Scarlet Bar
If looks could kill, then Abby would be dead with the dagger looks Toadie is sending as he sits at the opposite side of the bar but his attitude changes when he gets out the picture Zoë painted of the three of them and he heads over to the table where Abby and her client are sat. The client isn't enthralled about their time being interrupted but soon leaves when Toadie "suggests" it may be better to do so.
When the client leaves, she has a go at him but he stuns her by offering her a job as his legal secretary and points out the positives to her - better for her, for Zoë and so they can spend time with each other. Abby points out that she doesn't know anything about being a legal secretary but Toadie promises to teach her and again reminds her of the advantages.
Bush
Carmella thanks her sister for taking her into the bush to find Oliver and wishes she'd listed to her about not getting involved in the family business even if it was to show Rocco that she could do it. Rosie says that she still can, by getting it to work when Uncle Ray is out of the picture, and offering her help. Carmella is happy that Rosie is going to get involved when Pepper arrives back after her call of nature.
Pepper throws into the air why Oliver and Elle have gone away together and if she has got her claws into him yet! The other two shoot her down her suggestion; Carmella remarking that Elle is her friend and so wouldn't do something like that.
We then cut back to Elle dismounting from the horse and sending if off before pretending that the horse has thrown her. She feigns injury on the ground as Oliver rides to her rescue and being the mug gentleman that he is, picks her up and carries her back to their base camp, offering reassurance as they go.
London
We see shots of some of London's posh hotels - the Savoy, the Waldorf, the Ritz and then we see Karl and Susan heading down some backstreet to their accommodation. Susan is questioning him if they are heading in the right direction and he asks that she trusts him.
SUSAN: Is this a Jack the Ripper tour?
KARL: Well no, not exactly.
SUSAN: Well what then?
KARL: Ah, well, here we go. Surprise.
We then see a sign saying 'The Ritz' and a second later 'hostel' underneath. Susan is not a happy person!
SUSAN: This is where we are staying?
KARL: (struggling for words) Well it reeks of old world charm.
SUSAN: It reeks of something.
He tries to cheer her up by saying it always looks worse on the outside and ushers her into the building and when they enter "their" room, it is full of bunk beds and peoples belongings including an Aussie flag.
KARL: The description on the internet was fine.
SUSAN: Oh really! What part of shed, pickpen with free tetanus appealed to you the most?!
KARL: You'd think for this price we'd have our own bathroom, yes.
SUSAN: Didn't the word 'hostel' tip you off?
KARL: All I saw was 'Ritz' and the price.
They then get to their bunk beds and he offers her the choice of bunk!
SUSAN: (inspecting the bunk beds) Just once you know, I would like you to be motivated by something other than your back pocket.
He tries to point out the positives - that they are sharing with other Aussies, but Susan doesn't want to share with anyone else, especially Aussies! Karl says their roommates will be out partying most of the time but she still isn't being converted.
SUSAN: Oh great, very cosy, just you me and the stench that will outlast civilisation! (Trying to open a window) I suppose you had to pay more for a window that opened!?
Karl wins the award for the best line of the night when he asks Susan if she is disappointed. Doh!
SUSAN: (being sarcastic) No Karl, no. This fits all my criteria for a perfect, (smells the pillow) romantic holiday.
KARL: You know it still can be romantic. (Tries to muzzle at her neck)
SUSAN: Oh yes, I'm so in the mood.
He then starts covering her face with butterfly kisses and her mood does change and she agrees to give things a chance and to just be spontaneous.
SUSAN: How bad can it be?
Yarra Valley
Oliver has just about carried Elle back to the lodge and she tries to wriggle out of being taken to hospital to get her "injuries" checked out. She notices that he is rather sweaty and wipes the sweat and some of the mud from his forehead and just as thinks look like they might again end up in the kissing position, he lowers her to the ground.
Once on the ground, Elle feigns that she is still hurt and thinks that it is karma before telling Ollie that she has feelings for him and that she wanted to kiss him at the lake. He doesn't say anything and she goes to "hobble" away but he stops her and leans down to kiss her.
