Recap
- Scott drinking some alcohol whilst prepping for the year 9 formal that he's attending with Rachel.
- Susan telling Rachel that Zeke has been looking at Ambrosia magazines.
- Lou kissing Janelle; Janelle looking surprised as hell.
- Dylan asking Sky why Karl isn't her doctor any more, in front of Susan and Harold.
The General Store
Sky tells Dylan that she would prefer a female doctor who's an obstetrician. Dylan doesn't understand why she would want to change - is it something to do with Karl's track record? Fuming, Susan fiercely defends her husband, asking Sky if Karl has ever been anything less than professional - which I don't really get as it's Dylan who made the remark. Anyway. Sky says she has every right to choose her own doctor without it being a big drama. She storms off out the store.
Number 28
Bree comes round to see Zeke with a speech that she has rehearsed. She apologises for what she did, and for being dumb and jealous. Zeke can't believe she had to rehearse that. He accepts her apologies, and Bree is delighted that they are boyfriend and girlfriend again. She still wants to go to the formal with him, but he's promised he'll go with Anne, now. In the corridor to the bathroom, Anne listens in, smiling in that little manipulative way of hers. Bree is disappointed, and Anne makes her entrance.
Anne feels really bad about the whole thing, and suggests they all go together. But Bree doesn't want to - she'll see them there, but she doesn't want to go with them, and feel like a loser. Zeke is a bit down about this.
Bree leaves.
Number 26
Lou comes in to see Janelle - he needs some fashion advice - what should he wear to the formal? He's doing the catering with Harry for the event. He comments that he won't be working all night - and leans over Janelle and softly says in her ear that maybe he and she could have a dance, perhaps?
To get off the subject, Janelle (who is searching on the internet) sees a two bed place for $350. Sounds like a bargain to me, but then I live in the UK where the rental of a studio flat in the basement of a terraced house would cost $1000 minimum. (/rant)
Bree comes home and is upset. She asks her mum if she's seen her journal; Janelle points it out and tells her that Lyn's finished her dress if she wants to see it. Bree thinks it can wait til later and goes to her room. Lou comments on the teenage angst and emotions, and that a lot of them have a fear of rejection... Janelle immediately jumps in - she's going to be straight with Lou. She doesn't like him the way he likes her. She's not looking for that kind of relationship, and they play the French music from 4997, the scene where Karl and Susan pop out of the bushes.

Bree comes in to see Sky, and hands her the latest plotlines for the FreakBaby story. There's something weird about Sky referring to her child as a FreakBaby.
Sky wonders why Bree isn't at home, glamming it up for the formal, and Bree tells her she has no-one to go with, and Zeke is taking Anne. Sky says those reasons aren't good enough to miss it! And, er, she'd like to go! In a tux!
BREE: Thanks, but I'm a big enough freak as it is without turning up with a pregnant cross dresser.
Sky says she could wear Lou's fake moustache, and Bree agrees - it would certainly get people talking. Bree runs off to try on her dress. As she leaves, Dylan comes in, and wants to know about Karl...has he ever crossed the line with her?! Sky denies it; it's one of those things where a woman relates better to a woman.
DYLAN: You wanna hear something funny?
SKY: Lou and your mum are getting married?
DYLAN: That's cruel, Sky.
Dylan tells Sky that he has to chaperone the kids tonight, and invites Sky as his partner. But of course, she's already going, and she won't say with whom...
Number 28
Rachel and Anne are getting ready for the formal in big fluffy dressing gowns, and wander into the bedrooms to finish getting ready. The guys (Scott and Zeke) are already there and waiting, and Scott asks his friend if Susan has talked to him yet about the magazines... But there's a knock on the door and it's Harold. Susan appears in a very nice jacket (although I think I'm in the minority in liking it) and Harry apologises to her for what Sky said earlier.
Susan understands that sometimes we all say things we don't mean. Again, I don't get it - Sky didn't say anything about Karl at all. Susan asks Harry to keep an eye on the kids for a while as she needs to go out. She says she'll meet the girls at the formal, and leaves.
Zeke and Scott are dancing, and Zeke looks all Billy Elliot as Stingray dips him in his vest.

Sky shows Lou her tux for the evening, and he thinks he's doing a really nice thing for Bree tonight. Janelle appears and offers to help Lou with moving the food into the car. She'd also like to know if the dance offer is still up for grabs, and he agrees. Susan comes in as Janelle wanders out with food.
Susie approaches Sky in the kitchen.
SUSAN: What you said today was not only hurtful, it was potentially very damaging.
SKY: I didn't actually say anything.
SUSAN: Oh, as good as. What if there'd been patients there listening?
SKY: Well I said I was sorry.
SUSAN: No, no you didn't. You sent your grandfather to do your dirty work. Karl has been nothing but decent to you, despite the very awkward position you've put him in, lately.
SKY: Exactly what position would that be? You do know, don't you? You know why Karl can't be my doctor?
SUSAN: I know it was his choice, not yours. I know it was because he didn't want to be part of a lie. And, yes. I know that Dylan isn't the father of your child.
SKY: Well you tell me what's worse, then. A person who lies to try and save someone from getting hurt? Or a doctor who betrays his oath?
SUSAN: Karl had nothing to do with it. I overheard you and Stingray talking to each other.
SKY: And overheard what? Stingray doesn't know.
SUSAN: It was a bit more to it than that. I knew Karl was troubled about something and I knew it had to do with you.
SKY: And he told you! I knew it!
SUSAN: No! No! He refused to discuss it! I worked it out for myself. But then to hear you imply that Karl had been anything less than professional, well...you, you pushed me too far, Sky. That's the only reason I'm here. I'm not in any position to judge.
SKY: No? Well you've been doing a good job of it so far.
Ouch.
Sky tells Susan she's noticed the looks she's been giving her, that she lied to her about the letter. Susan says she's sorry about that, but Sky should never imply that Karl is anything less than a good doctor.
Sky wants Susan to understand - if the truth came out now it will tear the brothers apart. Susan emotionally says that the truth will come out and tear Sky and Dylan apart - is she prepared to put her child through that? Sky says it's a chance she's willing to take.
SUSAN: *You're* willing to take?! Sky!!!
Susan tells her she'll keep her secret; but what Sky's doing is so wrong.
I can't help but feel that Susan wouldn't be so involved or so upset about this had she not watched Karl go through the same thing (albeit with different motives). Nonetheless, a brilliant scene by Jackie and Steph.
Number 28
Janelle and Dylan arrive, and Janelle thinks that Zeke and Scotty look great. She tells them that Lou will take them, so the girls need to hurry. Dylan and Scotty quickly make their peace over their fight the night before, just as the girls come out. Rachel should *not* wear shiny gold. Not many people can carry it off, and it's a little 80s in style. Dylan comments on Bree's date, and Zeke wants to know who it is.
SCOTT: Come on, let's go get this night over with.
Cue a hurt look from Rachel.
SCOTT: I mean - let's go have some fun!
Zeke asks Anne if she's ready, and she says it feels wrong - he should be going with Bree. In an attempt to get some attention, Anne does the whole self-deprecation thing that teenagers are wont to do, and bets she looks ugly anyway. Zeke reassures her, and can't see through her manipulative ways.

Bree comes in and finds Sky crying - Sky says she gets emotional about five times a day at the moment. Sky tells Bree she looks great and presents her with a real orchid to wear.
Erinsborough High
The formal has begun and the place is buzzing. Janelle tells Susan that Dylan's been doing really well - he just got a payrise at work. Susan is so proud that Dylan's come such a long way since he arrived, and he says that he has a great job, a kid on the way and being with a girl he loves - how could life be better? Susan awkwardly smiles and walks off. Lou flirts across the room with Janelle, who blushes.
Susan introduces the Year 9 formal, and begins with the first pairs of dancers. They come onto the dance floor one after the other, and then Suse announces Breanna Timmins and Guy Dangle. And - I kid you not - for a while I wondered why Sky would choose 'Guy' as her man's name, and isn't 'Dangle' a bit odd?? It took me until the end of the scene to realise that it rhymed with Sky Mangel.
Everyone whoops as Bree and Sky run onto the floor, Sky in her tux and Bree in a black satin corset and skirt. Anne is miffed and demands to know why everyone is cheering Bree. Zeke asks Anne to dance, and the director of this episode managed to get one of her relative's names in, one presumes.
Lou asks Janelle to dance and she'd love to. Dylan and Harry are mortified. Dylan asks Sky to dance, but she refuses and continues to elaborately dance with Bree. Accidentally, they bump into Anne and Zeke, and Anne falls over. Zeke thinks she did it on purpose and, furious, he walks off with Anne.
The General Store
Zeke sits in the store with Anne who declares that her feelings are really hurt; Bree isn't here to check she's okay, and none of the Timmins are. Talk about an attention seeker. Let's hope Zeke doesn't play up to it...
Anne declares there's no point any more - they're all on her side, and they always will be. Zeke wants to know if things are okay with her parents? Anne says they're too busy hating each other to know her; they'd prefer a daughter like Bree who's normal who can do normal things.
You know, a daughter who'd go to her very first formal. Have her very first kiss... Oooh, I hate this type of manipulation. She reminds me of Isabelle when she was first here. Zeke reassures her that those things will happen, but Anne gets on the defensive: her mother tells her that boys won't find her attractive. So, of course, trying to do the right thing, Zeke sweetly presses a kiss to her lips...
Erinsborough High
Lou and Janelle are dancing and chatting away about the Rolling Stones, and laughing.
Dylan and Harry think they look too happy.
Susan springs Stingray drinking, and tells him to hand over the hipflask he has; Scott declares that he's eighteen, but Susan's having none of it at the Year 9 formal, thank you very much. Dylan comes over to see what the problem is. Susan wants to know how much he's drunk, and Rachel and Sky watch from a distance. Dylan takes a flask of something from Scott's pocket, and puts it in his own. Susan gives Scott one last warning and Dylan takes him off. Rachel and Sky shake their heads in disbelief.
Susan and Sky make eye contact briefly and then look away.
Shot of the moon - the same one they used in episode
5029.
The formal continues with all the couples dancing together. Rachel is worried that Scott's drinking too much, but he reassures her by telling her that the only thing he can't get enough of is her. He is so in denial it's untrue. Bree stands alone. Sky and Dylan dance together and he's thrilled that she did the right thing by Bree tonight. Bree suddenly announces that she's going, and they decide to go with her. The three of them troop off.
The General Store
Bree is telling Dylan and Sky about the Anne situation. Sky tells Bree not to give her what she wants. Dylan tells her to suck up to Zeke and Anne, be *thrilled* that they're together! Zeke will think she doesn't care anymore, and then he'll get jealous, which will prompt Anne to show her true colours...
Or, you know, you could just have a grown up conversation with him. But then I suppose Bree is a teenager and you have to do all the silly 'who said what' and playing games thing as you grow up.
Janelle and Lou appear, and the kids run off home. Janelle thanks Lou for the evening, and she tells him that he's a top bloke, and he'd like to tempt her to a cuppa...
And Janelle makes a little whooshing sound as she flies past, falling in love...
The Kennedy House
Susan's on the phone to Karl looking all smitten. I'm in a bad mood today, so WHY? He cheated on you three time, the brute, and he's not with Libby, he's hanging out in the UK with thousands of adoring girls. And guys. Get rid of him, Suse. She passes her love to Libby and Ben.
Zeke comes in to chat to Susan. She knows he had a falling out with Bree.
ZEKE: Life would be a lot easier if boys weren't attracted to girls.
Susan comments on the magazines; she wants Zeke to know that the women in those magazines are portrayed in an objectified way, and that women are a bit more complex than that (like, a hell of a lot more). And those magazines don't portray anything of real life. It would also be good if he could sometimes fit in a little bit of homework. He can't believe he's got off so lightly!
The next morning Zeke is taking the magazines out to the bin. He drops one, and as he picks it up, he sees some pictures of Katya. Given that those magazines were supposed to be nine years old, and given that Katya is younger than me, she'd have had to be about eighteen years old in those pictures - and yet she looks no different to how she is now! Remarkable! It must be all that airbrushing.
Talking of airbrushing, I desperately hope that last picture of her is her face on someone else's body - imagine being asked to pose like that on what is supposed to be a good clean show!
