Number 26
Sky and Dylan are going through Sky's latest drawings for her Freakgirl series. Dylan asks why Freakgirl's baby is a he when the girl in she cartoon is supposed to be based on Sky. She says that a boy just seemed right, it's not as if she knows the sex of their her baby yet. Rachel and Stinger enter and Dylan makes about joke about the kids coming home from school before asking his brother if he's looking forward to the year 9 formal. Rachel asks if Sky and Dylan want to join her and Stinger for a meal that same evening- she'll even take care of the cooking! Sky and Dylan don't look too excited, but they can't really say no, so agree to do it after all.
DYLAN: Should I bring red or white? Cordial, I mean.
While Stinger and Dylan start play fighting, Rachel sits down with Sky and has a look at the drawings. Rachel asks Sky if she finds is scary to bring a new life into the world and Sky says it terrifies her. Rach reckons that it's good that Sky's got the Dad there for the kid at least. Before Sky has time to answer Stinger tells her that Izzy sends her love.
SKY: Ah, that's nice.
STINGER: This is Izzy we're talking about.
SKY: Yeah, I know. She's really different lately, it's great.
STINGER (puzzled): But she's being, like, nice.
SKY: Or maybe we're all just sinking to her level, and we can't tell anymore. Who knows, if she keeps this up she might end up being happy!
Number 22
Paul's replying to condolences that people have sent him after Cam's death. Elle asks him if he's really up to doing it and he says he's fine. Plus, he's meeting up with his therapist again at 1 o'clock which Elle is glad to hear. She says she knows it's not really his thing but if it helps then it's worth it. Paul says that Elle's the one helping the most, she and Lyn.
ELLE: About that, I'm not looking at my next step-Mum, am I?
PAUL: No, no.
Usually when someone denies something in this way it's going to happen... Plyn shippers, get ready, because I think this is a sign of things to come! *whistles innocently*
Scarlet Bar office
Izzy's on the phone to her doctor and she's a bit upset over her doctor not being able to explain what the pain was that she felt earlier. TelephoneChipmunk™ gives her a long reply and it turns out that this is how it's supposed to be for Izzy now, her getting random pains, so Izzy calms down and hangs up.
Therapist's office
We get a nice stock shot of a white building with a Telstra phone box outside to let us know that it's time for more therapy again. It turns out however that the therapist has forgotten that she was following the person-centred therapy last week though and she has now moved on to cognitive therapy instead it seems. Hmm, maybe the writers didn't do any research in this area which is a bit disappointing.
PAUL: There's all the cards with pre-packaged condolences... [they] make me sick. People feeding on grief, that's what it is.
DR YOUNG: They didn't simply love and care for Cameron?
PAUL: (pauses and ignores the question) Oh, of course then there's the religious angle. People making up that there was a higher purpose for his death...
DR YOUNG: You don't believe in any type of god?
PAUL (looks up at the Dr): My son's death was an accident. Just a pointless, meaningless waste.
DR YOUNG: Hence your anger.
PAUL (getting frustrated): Ticking off the boxes, are we? Huh? Done the denial, doing the anger, so what's next?
Dr. Young shrugs. Paul loses his sudden confidence and looks distressed.
PAUL: I don't know how to stop this pain.
DR YOUNG: Tell me. After all your time overseas, and in jail, why did you come back to Erinsborough?
PAUL (suddenly confident again): To destroy it. Street by street.
Scarlet Bar
Harry walks into the bar and doesn't even need to say what he wants to order, Izzy has already worked out that he's after one of his 'special shots'. He finishes it off in an instant and Izzy lets him have it on the house. Max comes out from the office in the back and asks Izzy if she's really sure that she wants to sell her share in the bar. She corrects him and tells him that she's not selling it, she's giving it away to Steph!
IZZY: I scammed the cash for my share. The only way to get rid of dirty money is to give it away.
Max doesn't understand, but Izzy says it's something she has to do. Izzy asks how Steph's doing and Max explains how she and Charlie went up to visit Joe in Bendigo. Izzy reckons Steph should be in Erinsborough with Max, but he assures her he's fine. Carmella comes in and apologises for pushing Izzy to tell her if she's sick earlier on. Izzy asks her if she's got time for a chat and she does, so they go into the office.
IZZY: Carmella, I'm so scared!
Scarlet Bar office
Carmella tells Izzy she can't do this on her own, she has to tell her family! Izzy says they don't and Carmella can't tell them either, so Carmella promises not to say anything.
CARMELLA: Izzy, how have you managed to be so calm lately?
IZZY: I don't know, when the doctor told me I just fell apart, you know... She told me what my odds were and... And then my priorities changed. Anyway, no point fighting it, right?
CARMELLA: But you need people around you.
IZZY: No, no. Here there's just so much unhappiness. [?] I'm so dumb like that.
Carmella tells her it'll be okay and pulls her in for a hug.
Therapist's Office
DR YOUNG (sceptical): To destroy Erinsborough? You came back with that one idea? No internal conflict? Just purpose?
PAUL: And your point being?
DR YOUNG: It seems pretty obvious to me. You've been lying to yourself.
PAUL (ironic): Oh Gosh, there's an insight! That's money really well spent!
DR YOUNG: You came back to find someone. A young man you'd almost completely lost contact with.
PAUL: What are you talking about?
DR YOUNG: You came back to find Paul Robinson.
PAUL (shaking his head): No, he died in prison.
DR YOUNG: Maybe. But you had to know for sure. Coming back was your one chance to see if he was still around. Maybe you were going to kill him off. Or maybe, to see if you still had it in you to be like him. But you had to find him first. And you did, didn't you? You fell in love.
PAUL (looking distressed and nodding): (almost whispering) Then she died.
DR YOUNG: (points to her head) But not in here. And then you fell in love again. With Isabelle.
The last shot is of Paul looking sad before we move on to happier places...
Number 26
The teens are getting dinner ready and RandomSuse™ pops over with a bottle of wine. On her way out there's a bit of an awkward moment between her and Sky but no one really picks up on it. Stinger wants to open the wine bottle straight away but Rachel questions him about it as she thought they weren't going to open the wine until dinner is ready. Not that that matters now as the wine needs to 'breathe' apparently so Stinger cracks open the bottle anyway. Sky asks Rachel if they've got a theme for the formal this year and it turns out they don't. Rachel's not too keen on talking about it anyway since it must seem so childish to the others anyway since they're older. Stinger pours himself a glass of wine and makes a toast for Sky and Dylan reuniting.
STINGER: You're gonna be the best spiggin' parents to this little ankle biter and I hereby vow to be the best uncle!
Number 32
Max and Izzy are looking at old photos of them as kids. Izzy says that with Bobby and Rosie gone all the time Max was the only constant in her life growing up. 'Constant irritation' Max corrects her, reminding Izzy of what he did to her Barbies once.
IZZY: You made up for it though.
MAX: 'Doctor Hoyland helps legless Barbie walk again.'
There's a knock on the door and it's Paul stopping by with a six-pack of beer as a thanks for Max taking care of his garden while he was in Tassie for Cam's funeral. Izzy suggest they have some beer and sit down for a chat, but the blokes aren't too keen on it. Paul makes up some excuse about having stuff to do to avoid the awkwardness around Max and Izzy and gets ready to leave. Before he gets out the door three policemen appear to arrest Max 'for the manslaughter of Cameron Robinson'. They handcuff him and tell him his rights as they lead him away. Paul swears he didn't have anything to do with it.
MAX: Don't tell Steph, alright! I'm gonna be okay. DON'T TELL STEPH!
Izzy follows Max down to the station leaving a distressed Paul behind.
Number 26
The teens are at the table having dinner and Stinger compliments Rachel and Dylan on the food. Oh, and the wine, it's perfect! All the while he's filming the events for his documentary about Sky. Dylan asks if he can pinch the recipe to use at the Scarlet Bar and Rachel says sure. Stinger is clearly fairly drunk and his playing around is not appreciated by Sky and Dylan who asks him to put away his camera. Stinger tries to explain how he needs to film everything as otherwise he misses out on the context for the rest of the scenes in the film and goes off on a rambling about post-modernism.
There's a knock on the door and then Elle comes into the kitchen. She's come over to drop off some papers for Lyn, presumably for work. There's a major awkward moment before Sky says they'll pass them on and Elle is getting ready to leave when Sky asks her if maybe she'd like to stay for dessert. Elle turns the offer down and leaves and Dylan looks very sad, obviously still hurting after she lied to him. Stinger makes a comment about Elle being a 'disgusting liar' and Sky looks uncomfortable.
Number 22
Paul is sitting on his own at the kitchen table deep in thoughts when Elle returns home, and he tells her that Max is being charged with manslaughter. Elle reckons it's good but Paul tells her that what happened to Cam was just an accident.
ELLE: Didn't he aim the car at Cam? Didn't he kill my brother?
Yeah, the wrong one, Paul says. Elle can't believe her Dad is going to let Max just walk away from this, but Paul says he has to, because he has to forgive Max. Elle asks if this is what the therapist told him, but he says no. She told him to go see someone he used to like and to get things into perspective. Elle gets angry and says it's wrong, they can't just forgive Max- he took Cam from them!
PAUL: Oh, Elle. Max is going to have Cameron's death on his conscience for the rest of his life. But in the meantime you and I cannot afford to poison our lives with ideas of vengeance...
ELLE: NO! I need you to stay strong for me.
PAUL: But darling, this is taking more strength than I've ever needed...
ELLE: No! I want vengeance, I want Max to suffer!
PAUL: And what do you think Cameron would say?
ELLE: Cameron is not here! That is the point! CAMERON IS DEAD!
Number 26
Rachel's leaving the party and Stinger takes her to the door to say goodbye outside, out of sight from Sky and Dyl who are cuddling on the sofa. Dylan says he'll grab the recipe tomorrow and Rachel says thanks to the others for letting her come. Once they're outside Rachel thanks Stingray for not drinking too much as his drinking worries her sometimes. They kiss and she leaves.
When Stinger comes back in again Sky makes a comment about him making sure he looks after Rachel.
STINGER: What are you talking about?
SKY: I think you know what I'm talking about.
STINGER: Fair go, you're the one who got yourself pregnant.
DYLAN: Hey...
STINGER: Look, I'm just saying...
SKY: I know what you're like.
Stinray takes up his camera and points it towards Sky.
STINGER: Alright, let's have it. Why is Sky so down on young lovers when she herself is pregnant, still in her teens and has already dropped out of uni once.
SKY: Go to hell!
DYLAN: Cut it out, Scott! NOW!
STINGER: She's the one dishing it out, alright! Just let her answer the question!
Dylan gets up from the sofa and gives his brother a shove.
DYLAN: No, I said now!
The boys start pushing and shoving each other until Sky stands up and pulls them apart.
SKY: STOP IT!!!
STINGER: (blasé) What the hell's with you?
Scarlet Bar
Elle's at the bar trying to find herself a man it seems. Carmella shows up and Elle says she's not sure now why she called her and asked her to come. The sister says that's because Elle knows she always can call her. Aww.
ELLE: Actually I've got a question. Eye for an eye, that's in the Bible, right?
CARMELLA: The old testament does refer to it...
ELLE: ...Good. So that means the dirtbag that killed my brother is going to get what he deserves.
CARMELLA: The dirtbag's Max. A decent bloke who made a horrible mistake. But he has to live with that for the rest of his life.
ELLE: He killed my brother. I'm never gonna see him again. Never.
Carmella offers to give Elle a lift home but she says she's staying at the bar to celebrate her own private wake. Cam was a party animal so she's going to stay and party. Carmella takes off her habit which makes Elle a bit uncomfortable.
CARMELLA: Let's remember Cam the way he'd like to be remembered.
ELLE: What are you doing?
CARMELLA: I promised your brother I'd look after you. And I always keep my promises. I'm gonna need a million Hail Marys for this but we're going dancing, so come on! Let's get out of this dump (?)!
Number 32
Izzy and Max return home after he's been questioned by the police (and possibly released on bail?). It turns out that Max has refused to get a lawyer and Izzy's upset over this.
MAX: Why would I need a lawyer?
IZZY: To keep out of jail, maybe?
MAX: Whatever.
IZZY: Falling apart is not an option right now! Steph and Charlie need you!
MAX: They need a man for a father and a husband. A man that can take responsibility for something that he's done. I killed someone.
IZZY: It was an accident! You were trying to help somebody.
MAX: Same result.
IZZY: I'm going to call Steph and ask her to come...
As Izzy goes to grab the phone Max grabs her arm and pulls her around to face him again.
MAX: DON'T!!
IZZY: She needs to be here with you!
MAX: NO, SHE DOESN'T!!! She doesn't have to have to do with any of this!
IZZY: SHE IS YOUR WIFE, goodwitsabout (?)!! That is the deal!
MAX: NO, IT ISN'T!!! Please...
IZZY: Why?
MAX: 'Cos I can't... (voice trails off)
IZZY: You can't what?
MAX: (barely keeping it together) I can't look at him. Charlie.
IZZY: Why not?
MAX: The accident. It just keeps replaying in my head. Over and over. But it's Charlie. It's my son. I killed that boy. And I just don't know who I am anymore.
IZZY (teary): It's gonna be alright!
They hug each other tightly as they both break down crying with Max saying he's sorry.
Ramsay Street the next morning
Elle and Carmella are walking up the street arm in arm as they return home after a night of partying. Carmella realises she's in a lot of trouble but Elle suggests a few Hail Marys and all should be well again. It's not that easy apparently, Carmella's just broken about half of all the rules she's supposed to be following. Elle suggests that she says that she tells the Mother Superior that she was counselling a girl in need, which she was. Harold appears and asks the girls if they're only now getting in and Elle makes up an excuse about youth work and how they helped a 'terribly messed up girl get it together'. He makes a comment about how he hopes the girl they helped is feeling better now and heads off with a 'cheerioh'.
They notice Max putting out his garbage bins and they walk up to him. Elle hands him his morning paper and tells him that she's been thinking about what happened and that she reckons it was an accident. It's in the past and they all have to deal with it. Max thanks her and watches her as she walks across the street to no. 22 with Carmella. Carmella tells Elle how she's proud of her for talking to Max.
The General Store
Rachel and Suse are having brekkie at the store and Rachel's telling the story of the night before and how Dylan liked her pasta so much he wants to use it at the Scarlet Bar. They joke about how Alex used to say that everything good was from Belarus. Suse wants to know if everyone behaved themselves at the dinner and Rachel says they did, Sky's probably getting sick of being constantly filmed by Stingray though. When Suse asks how Sky and Dylan are getting on and Rachel says they're fine Suse gets a questioning look on her face and Rachel senses that something's going on there. But before Suse has time to answer Dylan comes in. He gets the recipes from Rachel and asks when Karl will be back in town since he wants to book a check-up for Sky. Suse says she thinks Sky's now seeing another doctor though. Dylan and Harold (who's appeared out of nowhere) knew nothing about this. Conveniently enough, Sky enters the store and Dylan asks her why she's changed doctors. She says she just felt like a change.
DYLAN: But he's the best doctor around here!
Sky just gives Suse an evil stare and Suse stares right back at her.
