Number 32
Izzy spots that Max's car is outside but there's no sign of the man himself. Steph thinks he might be helping Katya with all her bags and Izzy quips about Katya being overburdened with emotional baggage. Steph tells her, point blank, to stop her stirring; she won't be able to make Steph jealous of Katya. Izzy lets out a long sigh.
Number 28
Katya is explaining all the reasons why Max is in love with her; the double room, the back massage, the romantic way home...and then the car broke down. Max tells her that's she reading far too much into those things and, actually, they didn't share the same romantic fantasy while meditating; his was about the Magpies. It sounded nuts so he's embarrassed (but not as much as Katya must be right about now).
But, luckily, here's Karl and Susan to distract from the uncomfortable atmosphere - and they're bearing a large basket of washing. Max tells them they'd had enough and thus returned early, as Katya almost stands with her back to him - she can't even bear to look to at him. Max thinks he'd better go and tells Katya they'll talk later (as she still avoids looking at him).
Susan notices something's up so asks Katya if she's okay. Katya says she is and goes for a shower. Karl's glad he missed the weekend with all the lousy food and terrible facilities. Susan forces a laugh but you know she's a still worried about Katya.
Number 30
Toadie is eating but stops that when he sees Ned approaching the house. He starts doing some push-ups and then gives up after about five. Toad has another job for Ned - a forty something woman from the Scarlet Bar. Since they've removed themselves from the dating market it's their duty to rid the world of gold-digging Izzy's! It's the same as last time - Ned canoodles and Toadie's client realises his wife has broken the terms of the pre-nup.
Ned spots something on the corner of Toadie's mouth - chocolate!! (ooh, the scandal). Ned reminds him that he can't help unless Toadie helps himself.
Number 32
Steph and Charlie await Max (and his new jacket) at the door. The reason why soon becomes apparent when Max opens the door and gets soaked with water. (Ha, funny - it's like number 32's gone House Of Trouser). Steph takes a photo and laughs at him. Max unenthusiastically agrees that it was *really* funny. Izzy asks how the weekend and Katya were (both fine) and Max explains why they came home. Steph tries to help out of his wet jacket with one hand but Max snaps at her that he'll do it himself and goes off to change.
Izzy can't resist bringing up Max's weekend with a sexy young nurse and comparing it with Steph's water prank - what has the most appeal? Steph asks her if she has some place to be and Izzy does, so she leaves Steph to look unhappy.
Number 28
Katya goes and sits on the steps by the driveway and sniffles. Izzy appears and asks what's wrong. Izzy knows it's about Max and Katya automatically thinks Max told her. Then she realises he wouldn't have.
Susan appears from the backyard to hear Katya telling Izzy that it's nothing and tearfully asking her to leave. Susan tells Izzy to go and Izzy tries to protest but fails.
IZZY to Katya: Whatever happened, you led him on. He would never cheat, do you hear me?
Susan looks like she can't believe her ears but goes over and comforts Katya, asking what's wrong. Katya tells her that she's just done the dumbest thing in her life.
Number 30
Steph and her NewBestFriend™ Toadie are talking - Steph is telling him all about her hilarious prank on Max. Toadie think it sounds lame. Ned appears, all dressed up, and then leaves for the Scarlet Bar, where Toad will meet him later. Steph tries to rescue herself, saying the same was done in Carrie so it can't be lame. Toadie reminds her that involved a bucket of pig blood and no one has telekinetic powers on Ramsay Street.
Toadie retrieves a box of pizza from under the couch and tells her that she might just not be cut out for it. Steph says she is - she's just had a tremendous idea and has to go home to work on it right this instant!
Number 28
Karl makes himself scarce when Susan and Katya come in - Susan mentions that he has some shopping he needs to be doing.
After he's gone Susan asks for the rest and Katya says she told her everything - she should have kept her mouth shut. How stupid she was to think he could have wanted her. Susan thinks there's very little harm done; it wasn't like she tried to seduce him! Katya knows that Susan's never done the same but Susan tells her she has.
She tells of the time she tried to pick up Tom, a Catholic priest in the fruit and veg section of a supermarket. It gets even better after that...
Number 32
Max, wearing an old shirt, finds Izzy in the lounge room. Steph and Charlie are out. Max says all the pranks are harmless fun but Izzy isn't convinced and neither is he - he decides to ring her.
Izzy mentions that she bumped into Katya, who's pretty upset (but, then, Max must have known that). Max wonders what she's getting at. Izzy thinks it must be an ego boost, having Katya chasing after him, and Max admits it is but there's *nothing* going on. Izzy knows Max would never cheat on Steph but it's obvious Katya has the hots for him. Max tells her that she's been through a trauma and agrees that he might have been too good a friend to her. When she told him she thought they had an attraction he put her straight (Izzy says she would've strung her along for months).
He asks Izzy if he should tell Steph. Izzy says no - that would make it a much bigger thing than it really is.
Scarlet Bar
Toadie is not-so-covertly filming when Izzy comes in and says she told him about this. Toadie says it's all above board - a sting he has planned for tonight. Toadie is wondering why she's in, with it being such a nice day, and Izzy tells him that "Sometimes the banality of life is crashingly depressing". Boy, isn't she right there...
Izzy tells him that she had a whale of a time in Queensland - she could do what she pleased and no one would pull her up it, whereas Erinsborough is full of people needing to know everything. Toadie says you get used to it but Izzy can't; she tells Toadie how she tried to lend a shoulder to Katya and 'boss-of-the-world' Susan pushed her out of the way. Toadie says suburban life isn't for everyone - he won't be sticking around himself, with his career taking off as it is. His legacy will be the fact he taught Steph comedy. Izzy wonders if that's what you call it. Toadie suggests she buy him a drink.
Number 28
Susan finishes the saga of her relationship with Tom; she lost out to God on that one. Then there was GaryClaus, but he ruined all that by trying to buy a night of passion with Sindi. This, says Susan, proves that old, boring people are also emotional train wrecks.
Katya doesn't know how she'll ever face Max again. Susan reminds her that she didn't actually do anything wrong and Max will be as eager to forget it all as she is. Katya heads off for a nap.
KATYA: Susan, a priest!
SUSAN: Hey, next time I'm going for a Bishop!
KATYA: Not Harold.
SUSAN: Lord, no.
Susan sorts through some sheets from Karl's place and discovers an earring!
Scarlet Bar
Karl's questioning Max on the Buddhist retreat - he wonders if he sorted through his chakras, yada yada. Max thinks he's taking the Michael and Karl reiterates that he is a man of science and empirical evidence. Karl tells him that what he's doing for Katya is a good thing and Max hopes so. Karl mentions the fact that she was upset earlier on. Upon hearing she has nightshift later tonight Max decides there's someplace he has to be and nicks off. That doesn't look dodgy or anything, does it?
Ned is going to leave but then the woman in question walks in. Ned bends down to lean on the bar and casually says hi. The woman, Carrie, agrees to a drink. Karl moans about the cost of French champers but Ned says it's worth every cent.
Hospital
Max strides in and Katya does her best to avoid him but then hears him out. He tells her he doesn't want her to be upset or embarrassed about what happened - it was a silly misunderstanding. Katya knew it was totally stupid and didn't need reminding but Max didn't mean that; it was a mistake. She assures him she wouldn't have acted on her feelings as she has too much respect for Steph and his marriage (and she's turned away from him again so she doesn't have to look at him). Max tells her that her honesty was a 'brave and noble thing'. He still wants to be her friend, so can't they pretend it never happened? Katya smiles (and is probably more in love with him than ever after Max being such a darn nice bloke about it all).
Scarlet Bar
Toadie is being the most rubbish, most obvious, private detective in history, as he takes pictures of Ned chatting up Carrie. Ned looks exhausted from being so relentlessly charismatic.
Steph pounces on Toadie and tells her she's done it; she's taken some screws off a chair at home. And, what's better, her least favourite person in the world is the only one home tonight! Toadie is worried about the possibility of injury - it's not funny, more nasty. He tells her to put the screws back as 'broken bones are not funny bones'.
Number 32
Susan pays a visit to Izzy (she'd been debating about it all afternoon, apparently). She holds up the earring she discovered earlier on and Izzy quickly identifies it as belonging to her.
IZZY: Um...
SUSAN: Indeed.
Susan asks what it was doing in Karl's bedsheets when nothing happened between them. Izzy says she's running late for work and dashes over to a chair, where she can sit and put her shoes on. Only it falls apart beneath her and she lands on face first on the floor. Susan tries to rouse her; she's lost consciousness!
Scarlet Bar
Carrie tells Ned he's a total stud. She notices he's uptight and tells him to ask his friend over by the bar to join them; the one with the camera. Toadie pretends to be a tourist but Carrie turns out not to be the real Carrie. RealCarrie stands behind Toadie and takes a photo of the group - she changed her look and is taking the photos as evidence to the magistrate. NotCarrie is actually a lawyer and she tells Toad that he's only proved that Carrie's husband is pushing her away and this might mean a larger divorce settlement. All in all, not a good day at the office for the Toad.
Hospital
Izzy lies in a bed, waking up. Katya and Susan tell her she's had a fall and she's been kept in for observation. Susan tells her the chair collapsed - and it had *nothing* to do with her.
It had to do with Steph, who tells Max, out in the hallway, that it was meant to be a joke. Max tells her he doesn't want her to do any more practical jokes, especially around Charlie - someone could end up killed. Steph is annoyed at the insinuation she'd do anything to hurt her son but Max tells her it could be unintentional, like with Izzy.
MAX: ...Let's just cut the whole comedy act, alright? I much preferred my motorcycle chick.
(And so do we.)
Steph agrees - no more jokes. Max is just about to kiss his wife when Katya comes out of Izzy's room, announcing that she's awake. Steph tries to scarper but Max tells her she's coming in too.
Steph says how sorry she is, how she hopes Izzy can forgive her. Izzy says she can. They head off to get Charlie but Izzy calls Steph back, saying she'll think of some way how she can make it up to her. Steph laughs.
Susan comes once Steph has left and asks if Izzy remembers why she was there to see her (Izzy tries to pretend she doesn't but Suze doesn't buy it for a second). Izzy says she must've dropped the earring but Susan isn't convinced; she wants the truth! Izzy sits up.
IZZY: I lied. I did spend the night with Karl. In his bed.
