Recap
Steiger vowing to nail anyone who's also involved with Kim's scam.
Karl and Ned discussing the Oddles Noodles gig.
Max presenting Boyd with an ultimatum about Janae.
No. 26
Janelle gets nervous as she awaits a call from Kim to ensure that he is far away from Erinsborough and once again Dylan apologises for putting them in this situation. Bree tells him not to be sorry, that Kim is the one to blame and then tells Janelle the quicker she gets over him the better it will be for everyone and removes the phone from Janelle's hand.
No. 32
Boyd confirms to Janae what Max told him - call off the wedding or he's out - and she apologises for it but Boyd replies that it is Max's fault and feels let down that he wasn't able to count on his dad backing him. Janae suggests they postpone the wedding since they haven't set a date but Boyd rejects it because he doesn't want his dad blackmailing them. She wonders if Max will even attend the wedding before adding that at the rate things are going their kids won't have any grandfathers but Boyd assures her Kim will be back. Janae in turn, tells him not to give up on his dad even if it means postponing the wedding for a bit as long as they get married eventually.
No. 26
The mood is tense as Dylan, Bree and Janelle watch the TV and finally Dylan says he is off to try and find Kim despite Janelle wanting to give him more time to call. As Janelle shares her wedding cake with Bree, Bree apologises to her for what she said earlier and gives her a kiss on the cheek.
Boyd and Janae come in and she asks Janelle if Boyd can move in because of the blue he had with Max. Bree isn't exactly enthralled with what Janae has said and points out that there is a family crisis on atm and Janae replies that Boyd has nowhere else to go.
JANELLE: Hasn't this whole bloody mess taught you anything?
JANAE: Sorry?
JANELLE: I mean I know you aren't the sharpest tool in the shed but blonde at least should be able to join the dots. (puzzled looks from Janae and Boyd) Me and your dad married young and look what happens. I mean no matter how hard we tried it blows up in our faces, so if you want to make history repeat itself then you are stupider than I thought.
Scarlet Bar
Karl shows off to Ned his leather trousers and wonders what Ned's outfit for the gig will be and he replies something cooler which will let the air in. Karl takes this as an insult and that he is unfit to 'rock out' but Ned replies that he is just looking out for Karl because things may get a little...energetic!
KARL: Excuse me. I jog three times a week. I cycle. I think I'm going to be able to ha
He isn't able to finish his sentence because in the background Paul and Lyn are literally killing themselves laughing at Karl in leather trousers. Karl coolly replies that he's just landed his first professional gig and in the background Ned quickly says that the gig is theirs and Karl invites them to come and check their gig out tomorrow afternoon...their outside gig.
LYN: Outside? You're going to wear those pants in broad daylight?
KARL: Well the indoor venues are too small you know. You wouldn't try and cram Woodstock into West Warratah Bowling Club would you?
PAUL: No...but then you did manage to cram your middle age spread into those pants.
No. 26
Janae has a go at her mum for not believing in her unlike Boyd, so she tells her to move out and prove her wrong! Janae thinks it is a joke but Janelle is deadly serious.
JANELLE: From this moment I want you out of this house.
Janae tries to say it isn't her house but Janelle is insistent as we head to the first break.
No. 30
Boyd begs Ned to let them move in and he eventually agrees to let them stay the night in Connor's room. Boyd picks up the bag and goes to head into the house and Janae stops him because since this is their first family-free home, he should carry her over the threshold, which he eventually does.
Ramsay Street (next day)
Lyn and Oscar approach Paul as he waters the garden, well the roses CamRob planted. As Lyn heads off, she almost trips on the hose and he tells her to be careful especially as she has her 'dressed to impress' suit on for the meeting trying to get the baby belt idea up and running. Lyn confesses that she is nervous and he picks a rose for her as they see dressed in leather Karl walk up the other side of the street.
PAUL: (in a gay voice) Karl, how many cows died for those trousers?
Karl just looks at him before continuing.
Max sees Janelle and thanks her for taking Boyd in last night but she is a bit perplexed to what he is saying. At his bemused look, she tells him about kicking Janae out of No. 26 and presumed that Janae stayed at his place. Max confirms that they didn't stay at No. 32 and is astonished to find that she kicked out her 16 year old daughter.
JANELLE: Excuse me father of the year but do the words kettle and black mean anything to you?
Both are now getting concerned as to where their offspring spent the night as Janae watches on from No. 30.
No. 30
From their vantage point, Janae tells Boyd to keep their olds sweating and not to say where they are living. Lyn enters the house to drop Oscar off and hears Boyd telling Janae that playing stupid games isn't going to prove that they are mature enough. Lyn makes herself known and tells them about the search party looking for them and Boyd replies that they are going to say where they are and thus call off the search.
As they are heading out, they run into Karl and Boyd comments on the trousers he is wearing and Karl thinks it is a compliment! Karl and Ned head into the livingroom and Ned tells Lyn that Oscar is coming with them to their concert, which is news to Karl. He is further bemused when Lyn tells Ned (who is wearing a shocking lime green jumper with 'noodles' on it) that Oscar has been looking forward to it all morning and has even been practicing his dancing for it!
KARL: Lyn, you can't endanger Oscar like this. We're talking about a rock and roll gig.
Lyn replies that Oscar can look after himself and might even make some new friends! When she leaves, Karl asks Ned if she is serious and Ned replies that Oscar will be fine and for him to concentrate on his zone. Karl then bemuses Ned by taking a swig from a bottle of whisky to put him in the mood but don't fret it is just cold tea but made to look like whisky. He then asks if Ned is going to get changed but Ned points to his attire and hands Karl his jumper - a blue one with 'oodles' written on it. Karl is now totally confused and Ned tells him to get with this 'New York street talk'!
KARL: Sorry but I don't wear skivvies!
NED: Scared you don't have the body for it?
Karl begrudgingly heads off to change as Boyd and Janae come back in to ask if they can stay on longer and will pay rent. Ned says it is okay with him but they'll need to get Toadie's clearance just as Karl comes in moaning about the jumper he is being forced to put on. Ned tells him that he looks great and the three of them depart.
With the livingroom to themselves, Janae has a go at Boyd for saying that they will pay rent and wondering how they can afford it and Boyd replies they will do it somehow because they want to do it on their own.
Scarlet Bar
The talks for the baby belt are going well. One of the business ladies asks to see photos of Charlie and Lyn proudly shows off a photo while the other one who seems to have a 'thing' for Paul volunteers to help bring back some coffees.
Ramsay Street
Max tries to use Boyd's forthcoming exams as a way to stop Boyd from leaving as he carries his belongings down the driveway. Equally, Janelle is trying to stop Janae as she heads down No. 26's driveway. Max tries to point out to his son that he worked hard to get into med school to stumble at the first hurdle and Boyd replies that it will be Max's fault if he does fail. Steph shouts out for Boyd to wait as we go back to Dylan trying to persuade Janelle to let Janae stay but when Dylan tries to physically restrain her, she tells him to let her go.
JANELLE: (as they head towards No. 30) Go on, let her go. Let her give everything she's got to one bloke so he can take it all away and leave her with nothing. Let her make a complete mess of her life.
STEPH: (to Boyd) No matter what happens I'll always love you, you know that don't you? (She hugs him) And despite what you think your dad loves you too.
Boyd and Janae meet outside No. 30 and he asks if she is ready and Janae replies "totally" and they make their way into No. 30 while Janelle continues to shout out to Janae about giving it all away and Max shouts out that they are making a big mistake as we head into the next commercial break.
Lassiter's Complex
Karl is continuing to moan at Ned for the jumper he is being forced to wear but is told it is perfect for this crowd. Karl then spots the crowd...and isn't amused to find out that their crowd is a bunch of kids!
KARL: What's with all these kids?
NED: They're here for us. Oodles and Noodles. You're the Oodles and I'm the Noodles.
KARL: We're a kids band!? What the wobbles?
Ned corrects him and says The Wiggles which we last saw in episode 3896 and are still shuddering at. Karl wants to know what happened to KenNEDy saying they had a connection. "But nothing that paid," replies Ned. Karl protests that the kids won't understand his Jenny Song (does anyone!!!) and Ned informs him that they will be using the songs that he told Karl about last week. Extremely begrudgingly Karl agrees to go ahead as Max takes a photo for prosperity, again complimenting Karl on his trousers.
Scarlet Bar
As they drink champers, Paul wants to go out and see Karl perform but Lyn stops him and the have a bit of mini-argument over who is paying the bill for it but finally Paul pays cash for it instead of using his credit card because it was more pleasure than business. Paul then astonishes Lyn by telling her that he has booked her into a room for the night at Lassiter's as a reward for her good work. He also tells her that he is going to be staying in the penthouse and suggests that she checks in straight away. Lyn points out the obvious to him - Oscar, and Paul tells her that he'll pay for a babysitter because she rarely gets to spend the night in an all expenses paid five star hotel. Lyn turns down his kind offer and Paul adds that if she gets over her Catholic guilt conscious, then the room will still be available to her.
Lassiter's Complex
Ned and Karl go down a storm with the kids and the adults present as they finish strutting their stuff.
KARL: We're Oodles and Noodles and you've been a great audience.
The kids then call for an encore and Karl with a straight face replies back that they can't because they've run out of material and Ned quietly rejects his offer to sing Jenny Time. Karl is then accosted by the kids as he tries to get away and this so reminds me of Fletch's recent Glasgow gig except there it was JA (jamjar84) who was accosting the man!
Max takes Ned aside to give him some money to cover Boyd's rent but wants to keep it quiet from Boyd and he also asks Ned to keep an eye on Boyd for him. Steph has been watching what has been happening and goes up to him and hugs him.
STEPH: (before kissing him) You may be a grumpy mean old man on the outside but inside you're just full of that gooey chewy sticky stuff aren't you?!
No. 26
Lyn is telling Janelle about the hopefully having a producer for the baby belt but all she can see is that Lyn has a new man.
JANELLE: Paul wouldn't be giving you a hotel room unless he was planning on dropping in for room service.
Lyn totally dismisses that thought but Janelle eggs her on saying Paul is a hot scumbag! Lyn informs her that Paul has his own room booked therefore wouldn't be saying in her room. Janelle replies that Paul is just trying to be a gentleman and again Lyn dismisses any ideas she may have running through her mind because she just wants the 5-star luxury without Paul! Lyn then discovers that she has picked up Paul's credit card and Janelle implies that it was somehow deliberate so that Lyn would just have to stop by the penthouse. "I'm returning the credit card, that's all," Lyn tells Janelle.
In the livingroom, Dylan tells a downbeat Bree that Kim will be back but she tells him that Kim has ditched them again. A knock at the door interrupts their talk and Janelle excitedly and hurriedly goes to answer the door only to find Sgt Steiger on the doorstep wanting a word with Dylan to assist their investigation.
No. 30
Karl surprisingly tells Ned that they should perhaps do another 'Oodles and Noodles' gig so they can teach kids the magic of the guitar! As others predicted earlier, Karl is finding his leather trousers a bit hot and heads off to the bathroom to get some talcum powder as Boyd and Janae arrive home. She tells him that she has applied at the local supermarket for a job but Boyd points out that they won't get the money in time to cover the rent. Boyd says that he'll ask Karl for some more hours just as Karl comes back from the bathroom and begins buttering him up. Karl however has seen through it and tells Boyd he can't get the extra hours because he needs to study for his exams.
JANAE: Well that's fine Boyd; you can study out of the cardboard box we'll be living in.
Sitting down next to Ned, Boyd tells him that they'll get the money soon and is surprised to hear Ned say "don't worry about it." Given what he promised Max, Ned tells them that Connor is still paying his mortgage and in the meantime it is on him. The pair of them are relieved to hear that and thankfully leave the room because the trousers have stuck to Karl and he asks Ned to put the talc down his trousers and begins to undo his trousers.
Lassiter's reception
Lyn arrives and asks the receptionist where Paul is but then spots him sitting down with the businesswomen who took a shine to him earlier on at their meeting. Going over to Lyn, he thinks she is taking up his offer of the room but Lyn quickly says no, she is just returning his credit card. Lyn being totally naïve thinks that the businesswoman and him are further discussing the baby belt contract but the female quickly announces that she is off to wait for Paul in his room. Paul asks if Lyn is showing him a look of disapproval but Lyn replies that he is a grown man. He is relieved to hear that and points out to Lyn that the last thing he needs is a mother figure before adding that Lyn is a valued employee and urges her to take up his offer of a room because he shouldn't be the only one to get some fun as we head into the last commercial break.
No. 26
The Timmins family are keeping quite as Steiger makes himself comfy on the couch trying to get them to crack and spill. Janelle to the others surprise, decides to tell Steiger the truth and tells him that the whole operation was her idea and that Kim was just the fall guy.
JANELLE: So if you are looking to arrest someone I'm your girl.
