- Mishka's coming.
No. 24
Harold in his own subtle way has a go at Lou for deceiving Mishka but Lou doesn't think he's done anything wrong. Sky appears and finds out about Mishka coming to Australia and has a look at the pic of her (she looks very young, possibly in her 20s) in her bio on the website Lou has used and reads an email from her which states that she doesn't care that Lou isn't rich and that young men like him can always make more money.
Harold picks up on the 'young man' part and Lou doesn't think there is anything wrong with lying about his age and besides he sent Mishka a photo to back it up, which of course Sky finds on the computer. The pic of Lou has been doctored to make him look a bit like Burt Reynolds complete with the moustache!
HAROLD: Lou, you can't call thirty years a few.
LOU: I haven't changed that much.
HAROLD: You're old enough to be her grandfather.
LOU: Oh fair go...father maybe.
Sky adds that he can't allow Mishka to come under false pretences and his get out clause is that she may prefer someone a little older.
HAROLD: You never know she might like antiques.
Classroom
Susan tries to interest the class about Jane Austen but they aren't exactly enthralled. Indeed one student (Josh) decides he'd rather pass Janae a note asking her out but she just crumples it up and throws it away. Janae gets herself some bonus points from Susan for doing some independent study on Jane Austen.
Susan stops the lesson, so some FP's can come in and give the current Year 11 students a motivational talk and much to Janae's discomfort Boyd is one of those FP's along with two random extras.
No. 24
Lou is shocked to receive an email telling him that Mishka is arriving tomorrow on flight 990 from Moscow! Harold and Lou start to bicker about telling her the truth when Sky comes out of her room and tells them that they can't argue about it anymore they'll need to work out how they can solve it. Lou says that when she arrives he'll explain his mistake...by explaining that he accidentally sent her an old photo. Harold replies that there was nothing accidental about it before he goes to answer the phone. It's JP but Sky doesn't want to talk to him so Harold feigns him off. When he gets off the phone he questions Sky over the fact she thought they were getting on together.
Classroom
Boyd finishes giving his pep talk to the class/year but adds that he hasn't finished, there is a mistake he has to set right. He walks towards Janae's desk and asks for her forgiveness before getting down on one knee and asking her to marry him! Its okay folks you can breathe easily, Boyd hasn't got back with her and popped the question, it's just Janae's daydream. She snaps to it and we do hear the end of Boyd's real speech.
The bell goes and the pupils and guests start to head out the room and just as Boyd walks past Janae, she wallops him where it hurts with her schoolbag. After apologising profusely to him, he walks away and she goes up to Susan and asks if she is free for extra tutoring. Susan is a bit puzzled by this, so Janae explains that basically it is so Boyd can see she is as mature as he is.
No. 24
Sky tells Harold that she has a connection to JP and that it triggers something creatively off between them. Harold sets off a lightbulb in Sky's head when he asks if it was like this between Lana and herself. She tells him it is a repeat before thanking him for their chat, adding that she now knows how to deal with it. Harold then suggests that Sky should leave JP's class, reminding her that Dylan's feelings have to be taken into consideration too. Sky replies that protecting Dylan is top priority as we catch the sight of Lou...with his hair now a shade of brown!
Harold is shocked and asks what he's done and Lou informs them that he's used Sky's spray on hair colouring! Harold asks if Lou thinks this will make him look 30 years younger but Lou can't see the harm in simply looking his best for the duration of Mishka's stay.
HAROLD: Mutton dressed up as lamb.
LOU: Oh you are a cruel man Harold Bishop
Lassiter's Complex
Susan runs into Max, Steph, Charlie and Lyn and Max takes the opportunity to talk about arranging a ceremony to formally name her and Karl as the wee man's life mentors. Susan suggests they talk dates when Karl returns back from his trip to the UK New Zealand with Jenny.
Max and Steph head off and Lyn continues with Susan towards TGS taking the opportunity to moan yet again about Charlie not having a normal christening. Susan reminds her friend that his parents don't want one which seems to sink in with Lyn as she changes conversation to ask how she is.
SUSAN: You know; house is big and empty.
LYN: Well I could lend you the Timmins family.
SUSAN: No thank you, I'll stick to big and empty.
The two of them walk past TGS as JP comes out with two coffees for himself and the newly arrived Sky. They sit down and JP apologises for crossing the moral line with her before adding it is clear she'll have to reluctantly leave his class. He starts rabbiting on and Sky stops him so she can get a word in and says that they have nothing to feel guilty about because they shared something as artists but got it confused with romance.
JP isn't the only one confused by that statement, as she goes on to say she won't be leaving his class as long as they can see their connection is what it is before adding that they can go on and do great work together. They have a toast to art and friendship although JP still seems a bit confused over what is going on.
No. 24 where we find Lou hiding behind the computer
Lou asks Harold if they can say he owns the house because...the audience falls about laughing at this point because before Lou can say why he's moved the computer out of the way and we can see that he's now suddenly got a moustache but unlike the Burt Reynolds one in the pic he sent Mishka, this one looks a bit like Hitler's one only extended longer!
Once the viewers pick themselves off the floor, we hear Lou bemoaning that Mishka will never go for a penniless, out of shape retiree with spray on hair! The ever so sympathetic Harold simply replies that she can have a nice holiday in Australia and put tick the rest off as experience! As Sky arrives home, Lou decides he's had enough as he announces he's off to the bathroom with a bottle of shampoo whilst trying to pick his moustache off.
HAROLD: If it wasn't so tragic I'd be splitting my sides.
Sky just hopes she gets her hairspray back! Harold tells Sky that he knows why Lou is doing this - because he is lonely. Sky wonders if he is lonely too and Harold replies that he isn't because he has his family around him. Changing subject, Harold asks if she's spoken to JP and she says yes and that it is all sorted out and there will be no more problems because they are mature adults.
Ramsay Street (next day)
As they get ready to head towards the airport, Harold reminds the now back to normal Lou what he has to do when he sees Mishka (give her an apology for lying about his age) but Lou just thinks she'll take one look at him and get back on the plane! Harold then adds that Lou needs to say she can stay for a holiday (as their guest) before he pays her airfare home but Lou replies that he can't face her. Lou is beginning to get cold feet, so Harold tells him to get on with it and that Mishka sounds a nice person in her emails and so will believe what Lou says to her.
Sky joins them and wishes Lou luck and the camera pans to see Janae going to collect the paper from the letterbox. With Lou and Harold having driven away, she spots Boyd leaving No. 32 and asks if he has time to have a coffee with her before Uni. Sky mentions to him that she heard about the break up and they look over to see her leaning against the wall reading the paper and Sky comments if that is for his benefit. Boyd replies that Janae is probably just reading the comics.
No. 26
Susan asks if Lyn is babysitting while Lyn finishes making them a cuppa. Lyn replies that she gladly volunteered because Steph has a check-up at the hospital and couldn't find a babysitter as they head through to the livingroom passing Janae still reading the paper. When they get there, Susan spots a christening gown on the ironing board and asks Lyn to say she isn't going to have Charlie christened behind his parents back.
LYN: I've arranged it for 11.30 today.
Susan points out the obvious that it is going to cause trouble but Lyn thinks she is okay and will do no harm as long as she keeps quiet about it and knowing that the wee man's soul is being saved.
SUSAN: Lyn!
Lyn then to Susan's horror asks if she'll come with her! Susan replies that she shouldn't be involved but Lyn thinks she should as Susan is the godmother and Susan points out that she'll be Charlie's life mentor not his godmother. Lyn heads off to get Charlie ready and Janae appears from the kitchen and appeals to Susan to stop Lyn because Max and Steph don't want Charlie christened.
Lassiter's Complex
Sky has obviously told Boyd everything because he jokes with her that she is obviously into kissing other people while having a relationship (obviously bringing back the memories of when she kissed Lana whilst going out with him). Sky replies that they confused an artistic moment with a romantic one and Boyd comments that he'll need to remember that one for the future! As they make their way towards a seat, she adds that JP and her are now going to have a purely professional relationship and the talk then changes to Boyd's relationship with Janae and her immaturity around it. Sky points out to 'babe' that Janae is younger than them and that he should give her time but Boyd points out that she isn't that younger and confirms that it is over between them.
Sky comments that she knew they'd be friends again and Boyd thanks her for her understanding and being able to talk when a relationship finishes. Sky then replies that her relationship with Dylan is still on and she is just going through a confusing stage and needs to works things out. She then spots JP and calls him over before introducing him to Boyd. JP tells her he's been asked to exhibit some paintings but he's freaking out because he is having trouble drawing again, so Sky volunteers to go round to his studio tonight to sit for him so he can draw her portrait before he leaves.
BOYD: So that's the guy you have a purely professional relationship with?
No. 32
Max answers the door, surprised to see Janae standing in front of him. She says that she isn't looking for Boyd but wants to talk to Steph. Max informs her that Steph is resting since they're just back from the hospital but from the livingroom, Steph calls her in. Janae enters and mentions it is about Charlie, which automatically gains Steph's interest and Steph says that she is about to pick him up, so what is wrong.
JANAE: Well your mum's taken him to get christened.
STEPH: WHAT!
Steph rushes off to get the car keys as Max asks if she is sure and Janae replies that they left an hour ago. Boyd asks if she is stirring up trouble and Janae replies she's not and that she is telling the truth. Steph returns and asks which church they went to.
No. 24
Lou and Harold return from the airport minus their guest. They are both puzzled as to why Mishka wasn't there and wonder what happened. Lou suggests she either missed her connection from Singapore due to doing some duty free shopping or she took one look at him holding up a bit of paper with her name on it and kept on walking. Harold doesn't think so as Lou opens his credit card bill complete with the charge from the internet site bemoaning about the money he's lost but Harold sees some light at the end of the tunnel - not having to pay her return flight to Moscow as well as some embarrassment!
LOU: I'm just an old git with nothing to live for.
HAROLD: Oh come on, it's not as bad as that. Anyway, come on, you still got me eh.
LOU: You can't keep me warm in bed at night.
HAROLD: Well no, no, that's what hot water bottles are for! But surely our friendship counts for something?
LOU: Well of course it does but there are some things even friendships can't provide!
Ramsay Street
Lyn pushes Charlie up Ramsay Street telling Susan she hopes she did the right thing and in the background we hear the MaxMobile approaching. With the car barely stopped, Steph whilst getting out of the car asks Lyn what she is doing because she has no right. Susan tries to stop Steph but is told to keep out of it.
STEPH: You knew our wishes on this and you still chose to go behind our backs.
LYN: Steph, Steph, I didn't have him christened. I didn't.
STEPH: Well what you didn't?
LYN: No, I...Susan talked me out of it. I just went to the priest and asked him to say a little prayer over him, that's all. Surely that's alright?
STEPH: I don't care what you did, you still interfered, right. Charlie is our son and we decide what's best for him now if you can't handle that you can stay out of his life for good, his and ours.
Steph then wheels Charlie away leaving Lyn shocked and stunned.
JP's studio (night)
After a nice shot of the Melbourne skyline and a tram, we arrive in JP's studio where the two of them are looking through an art book talking about some drawing. At one point they are getting very close to each other, so JP breaks off and asks if Sky wants a coffee before they start.
No. 26
Susan makes Lyn a cuppa this time as Lyn is still upset over what happened earlier with Steph. Lyn is fearful that they won't let her see Charlie ever again but Susan reassures her that won't happen because it was a knee-jerk reaction which Steph will get over. Susan then tells her once everything calms down that being a granny is about offering advice and support not taking matters out of their hands.
LYN: I've learned my lesson, I promise I have.
Their chat is interrupted by a knock on the door and Lyn thinks it is Steph back to have another go but Janae says she'll answer it. And it is Boyd at the door - he's around to apologise to Janae for doubting her earlier when she was telling the truth. She then gets some satisfaction on closing the door in Boyd's face saying she has studying to do.
No. 24
Lou and Harold are sitting in their dressing gowns deciding what comedy DVD to watch - and I so agree with Harold that Benny Hill is smutty! Anyway, their chat is also interrupted by a knock on the door and Lou goes to answer the door and finds it is a oldish woman with an accent just like Svetlanka's!
WOMAN: Oh, I can much see the resemblance. You are Mr Carpenter.
LOU: Yes.
WOMAN: Please, is your son Louis at home?
LOU: No, I'm Louis...I'm Lou.
The mystery woman looks puzzled and a lightbulb goes off in Lou's head too and he thinks that she is Mishka's mother and asks where Mishka is.
WOMAN: I am Mishka.
LOU:
Lou has obviously composed himself during the final break as he leads her into the house carrying her luggage, apologising profusely blaming the bad light at the front door for his error! Mishka tells him there is no need to apologise because her age is a little different to what she let on too. The two of them click immediately and dish out the compliments to one another before Mishka then explains why she is late - she went to the beauty parlour whilst in Singapore and missed the connection.
Lou introduces her to Harold and he is a bit surprised by her strong handshake before apologising for how they are dressed. Lou goes to get dressed and she tells him not to because it is good to be comfortable. She then notices how beautiful the house looks and as they make their way into the kitchen, Harold offers her some soup but she refuses and when having it confirmed that the soup was their supper, announces that she's going to make a man's meal of salami and pickled cabbage that she took all the way from Moscow!
Harold is stunned that not only has she brought food into the country but she managed to get through customs too. Mishka's solution - to eat the contraband quickly! Harold is still moaning and points out to Lou that it is non-vegetarian but Lou is looking forward to eating it!
JP's studio
Sky is sitting while he sketches but JP mentions that the coloured piece of hair she has in is distracting him. She volunteers to remove it but is having a bit of difficulty, so he heads over to lend a hand. However, Sky isn't comfortable with him having his hands in her hair trying to remove the coloured piece and calls him off, commenting that they agreed to keep things platonic. JP replies that he was just removing the coloured part and she says it didn't feel like it. "We obviously still have a problem then," JP states and Sky replies back only when he did what he just did before. Sky then says she shouldn't have come and what will Dylan think. JP tells her that it is her call and that she shouldn't come over anymore until she gets things sorted out with Dylan.
