Recap
- Janae telling Mike he should dump his girlfriend
- The police informing David he's under investigation for fraud
Ramsay Street
Janae and Bree have a good gawk at the policemen who carry David's computer into the car. They ponder what on earth Dave could be in trouble for ... though they don't have to ponder for long, as Janelle pokes her nose in to exclaim she always knew "he was the type too" and warns her girls to stay away from that man! Stinger buts in that Dave's "not a dirty bird" but Janelle insists a man has "issues" when he breaks a boy's arm for fooling around with his daughter.
JANAE: I can't wait to spread the dirt around school.
STINGRAY: Janae, no! Innocent until proven guilty.
JANELLE: Rubbish, spread it far and wide.
STINGRAY: Mum!
Susan joins the party and Janelle fills her in on the news as another police car arrives.
Bishops'
The extra policeman is none other than Senior Sargent Allan Steiger, who has come to question David about some $47 000 missing from the Helen Daniels Trust. He begins the questioning by clearing some facts up about the jobs done in the charity. Basically, only David has any authority on the finances of the trust. So what does this all mean? ...
Ramsay Street
Focus close-up of the police car through a "view-finder" as Bree focuses the camera up on the police. Turns out Janelle wants to capture a shot of "Dave's ugly mug when they shove him in the cop car". She sits down next to Janae, who have brought out the lawn chairs to camp out in. Janae thinks they could sell the photo to the tabloids!
Choosing to give Dave the benefit of the doubt are Susan and Stingray, who soon walk over when Harold, Lil and Serena come outside. Stinger wants to call Toadie, but Lil insists that David is taking care of it - it's just a huge misunderstanding! The two teens go grab the girls for school, with Susan following.
Paul pulls up in his zippy red number - he came over as soon as he heard the news. He is completely perplexed and Harold explains that David is in there sorting it all out. The computer gets a mention as Paul had no idea David used the computer for the business. Lil promises Paul that David played no part in the missing money.
Erinsborough High - School Grounds on a random couch
Bree is happily sitting on the couch, when Mike and his mates order her off in a rude fashion. ("Chubbo, off!") They watch Janae come over, admiring her hotness...Mike agrees, he's got her well trained as well. Bree sadly watches from afar as the boys make room for Janae.
If only she knew how Janae was being treated however - she kindly bought a packet of chips for her boyfriend Mike, yet he snidely asked where the rest of the boy's food was! He grabs her packet of chips and tosses it around as "there's plenty, don't be greedy".
Stingray consoles Serena, as they also walk through the school grounds. He's sure David is completely innocent. He's Dave! As they talk, Stingray keeps throwing glances towards couch, where Janae is.
Bishops'
David quietly tells Harold and Lil that there's no way somebody could get past him to touch the accounts...but isn't that the problem, Harold wonders? If there's money missing, then David is the only one who could have done it!
Steiger, off the phone to his IT guy asks David why he's recently deleted a mass of files from his computer and why he did a defrag (a task done on the computer where deleted files cannot be read) yesterday? David insists he just likes to keep a "tight ship" and didn't do the defrag. Steiger turns to Harold and asks why he wrote in an email, concerns about David borrowing money to use on the stock market. It was just to Svetlanka however and he is taking that out of context!
David replies he just borrowed the money from Paul to invest in a sure-deal on the stock market. Steiger twists his words around as he comes up with some theories...so, did David also "borrow" money from the trust to gamble again in the market? Make a bit on the side, pocket the rest before anyone found out? If David has anything to confess, now is the time to do it! David remains defiant of his innocence.
Erinsborough High - Classroom
Susan talks about the objectivity of how news is delivered by journalists, when a folded-up note makes its way down the back towards Bree. It reads:
"MEET ME IN THE COURTYARD AFTER SCHOOL"
Bree glances in the direction of the possible boy, grinning to herself.
Erinsborough High - Corridors
Janae adds her two cents to Serena about the David scandal but Stingray wants to know what she is doing out of class. They have a spare, unlike the year 10s. He's about to chase after his sister, but Serena holds him back. She's annoyed that Lil is still on her messagebank. Serena is just concerned about David and money...how he's concerned about their status and so forth...Stingray knows that they know David is innocent - he is way too honest to rip anyone off. Still, it doesn't help Janae from shooting glances towards her.
Bishops'
Steiger continues his line of conspiracy theories...this time, he believes David to have a gambling problem. Afterall, he's investing in stocks, playing with the big boys now. He's borrowed money in the past to invest, when his own financial situation was shaky... Steiger asks David to leave, so he can have a private word with Lil and Harold. He apologises, if it seems like they're hounding David, but they just want him to come clean now. As they're being honest, he's an ex-high flyer and the only money he can get his hands on is from a trust. There's no chance of him stepping over the line to use that money?
Erinsborough High - School Grounds
Serena has finally got through to Lil and leaves Stinger for a family lunch. He runs into Bree and teases her for perving on the boys in the school yard. Bree laughs that someone may have the hots for her but Stingray can't blame them as she's such a little cutie and begins to chase her.
Janae goes over to sit at the couch, but not before asking Jimmy (Mike's best mate) to move his hand. She sits and he begins to hit on her - he wants her to kiss him and puts his arm around her. She can't believe the nerve of him and asks Mike, when he comes over to tell his mate to stop it. He won't though, in fact asking Janae to give him a break, as he's been single for 2 years. She begins making out with Mike instead with Jimmy watching in close proximity. "Oh come on mate, save some for me!" Susan walks on over and sees the two boys all over Janae. She quickly puts a stop to this, banning the area and wants all 3 of them in her office. They'll start with Janae and she's going to call her mum in too.
The General Store
Lil and Serena try to figure out what went wrong with the money, could it be a simple computer glitch? David however, isn't convinced the money is gone. He doubts they will find any evidence on the computer, because he did not do this! He would NEVER commit fraud! Paul enters, and David apologises profusely but promises he'll get to the bottom of it. He is rather flustered though, as people have been hounding him all day. Other people from the fund are now not sure whether to trust them with their money.
Lil leaves to get more coffee and has a go at Paul for lending David the money for the stock market. Paul sighs, he wanted to help him out and besides, David practically begged him! Lil merely glances in David's direction.
Erinsborough High - Classroom
With Janae and Janelle there, Susan voices her concerns though they are met on deaf ears. She feels Janae has no respect for the other teachers. She's rather disruptive and her marks aren't what they should be...but more, it's about the attitude she places upon herself. Janelle laughs that it's harmless fun, with Janae kissing her fella at recess. Susan blankly replies that there were 2 boys groping her. Janelle is pretty shocked...Janae speaks up into Janelle's direction that just 'cause no one else is getting any...and this is what Susan was talking about! She gives her 2 more weeks detention before Janae storms out.
Susan continues with Janelle, she is worried about Bree. She sees her sister being treated like an object and is worried she'll aspire to that. She's not calling Janae a tart, but she's just trying to fit in. Doing anything to win approval...and it's not safe. Janelle is angry Susan is now calling her girls stupid, she knows them and they are smarter than what she gives them.
Erinsborough High - Courtyard
Bree waits and waits and waits and waits...still, no boy turns up. She applies some pink lipstick and looks up expectantly when the two boys walk by her, though they just laugh in her direction and keep on going. She looks crestfallen, poor girl.
Scummins'
Janelle too notices that her youngest daughter is down, yet Bree doesn't let her on it. Janelle compliments her on the nice shade of lippy, she is turning into a real pretty girl. She'll have to bat them off pretty soon! Bree mumbles it was for drama...Janelle still doesn't know what's going on, but she does know that Bree is special and so very smart. They're going to splurge tonight, and have take-away (instead of Lyn's "rabbit food") - it's Bree's choice. She chooses pizza, with extra cheese. Janelle agrees, anything for her.
Bishops'
Stinger hands Dave his coffee, nearly pretend tripping in the process. He lets Dave know he believes he's innocent and has been telling everyone! Steiger comes a knocking once more but this time it's all bad news. The IT guys have managed to salvage the deleted files and have found transactions to show he took $47 000 and bought 2000 shares. He is now arresting David under Sections 82 and 83 of the Crimes Act.
The General Store
Susan asks Bree how the book is going, but Bree isn't so impressed. The message of the book implies that love fixes everything. When it's obvious that love is a joke and lists examples of couples who have broken up. Susan agrees...yet, it doesn't mean all romantic love is meaningless. Or maybe she's just a hopeless romantic...though she must admit she loves soaps, her favourite being Lust in La Villa! They start gossiping about the show, with Bree drawing a parallel between a character and her mother - they are just trying to help their families. Susan smiles at Bree, she's a very smart girl, very empathetic. It is better than smart, it's wise.
Outside Bishops'
Paul once arrives in his cute red car, to a crying Lil who is sitting on the mailbox. She proclaims David's innocence, but all Paul can say is that he was caught red-handed. He feels to blame though...feeding his habit, helping him gamble. He is sorry, though not as sorry as Lil. Paul offers his support if she needs help...she kind of nods, before walking off.
Scummins'
Janae walks through the house, calling Ms Smith a gradeA cow! Janelle tries to tell her she shouldn't call her teachers those kinds of names...but really wants to know if she's ever let boys do things, stuff she doesn't want to do. Janae exclaims of course she does not, she's not a tart she was just having a laugh. Janelle nods, as long as she doesn't let boys treat her like a doormat. They won't respect her otherwise.
Oh, like how Janelle let their dad treat her like a doormat? Did he respect her? Though Janae immediately regrets saying it. Janelle can't believe she'd say that to her...but agrees that it's true. Is she happy now?
Bishops'
David, all weary and worn out arrives home to Serena's open arms. "Daddy!" Toadie has agreed to take on his case - there will now be a hearing to decide his fate, though is probably won't get that far. Harold offers him food, but all David wants to hear is one thing and looks straight at Lil. She seems very hostile however...she does believe him? He needs to hear it, he'd never do what they're accusing him of.
