Recap
Izzy complaining about Steph's opinion of her.
Karl suspecting Izzy is pregnant.
Karl's place
Izzy asks Karl how he would feel if she was pregnant. Karl says there's no point in worrying, it's a million-in-one chance. Karl leaves to do some paperwork.
Number 32
Izzy comes to talk to Max. She seems a little distressed and tells Max she hates herself. Max tries to get her to tell him. She starts with "I'm a horrible, horrible person", but then Steph walks in and she shuts up before getting to telling Max what the problem is. Steph tells her not to hog all the attention, she's "no worse than the rest of us". Max gives her a dirty look and Steph assures them she was kidding. She mentions that Max has to pick up Summer from the airport. Izzy leaves, giving Max a lame story that she was upset because she knocked something of Karl's over. Max asks Steph, once again, to not be so rude to Izzy. He leaves to pick up Summer, asking Steph to try to find some good in Izzy.
Pub
Harold comes into the pub and asks if Lou could have a drink with him. Lou suggests champagne, but Harold asserts that he is off alcohol for good, even though it's a special occasion - Madge's birthday. Lou apologises for forgetting, and gets an orange juice for Harold. Harold talks about his marriage, grateful for all the good times and sorry it ended so soon. Harold laments that he's lonely and likely to stay that way. Lou tells him not to be negative - Madge would be hitting him over the head if she heard that. They make a toast to Madge, wherever she is now.
Number 32
Summer is back, with presents for the family. She leaves soon after though, to visit her friend Lisa. Max comments that Summer looks so much more grown up after only a few weeks. Steph complains that Jack, Flick and Michelle are the travellers in the family, and she's the "stay-at-home Scully". Max tells her he'll show her the world - London, France, the Rockies. In the meantime, they retire to the bedroom, babies in mind.
Karl's place
Karl returns, with a pregnancy test for Izzy. Izzy tells him she's sure she isn't pregnant, it's not pregnancy. Izzy steps out of the room to take the test. Her cheeriness is replaced with worry as soon as Karl is out of sight.
Pub
Harold starts with some lunch. A woman asks to sit down with him because all the other tables are taken. She introduces herself as June Merret. She tells him she doesn't often drink on her own, but she was passing by and decided to celebrate - she wrote an article for a gardening magazine, and was asked to write a weekly column. After finding out they both enjoy gardening, the two of them hit it off.
Karl's place
Karl checks the test and tells her it's negative. Izzy launches into her "positive test" reaction - "No, we were so careful, I don't even know what happened!" Karl calms her down and shows her the test is negative. Izzy is surprised. "What a relief," Karl says.
Pub
Harold and June laugh about how she came and sat over with him. She doesn't know what possessed her to do it. Harold tells her she has cheered him up more than she could imagine. Maybe their meeting was set up by some guardian angel. He looks over and catches Lou's eye, and he winks at him. Harold misinterprets this, and thinks Lou set the whole thing up. He asks June about it, whether it was a pity date. He tells her he hasn't been so embarrassed before in his life. June gets offended and leaves. Harold confronts Lou about it, who tells him it wasn't a setup at all, but Harold doesn't believe him.
Number 32
Max and Steph leave their bedroom very happy, discussing babies. They both decide they'd rather not know the baby's sex before it is born, they both want it to be a surprise. Summer comes back and Max, who realises he is wearing Steph's necklace (that was a present from Summer), quickly gives it to Steph. Summer tells them that Izzy wasn't in the Coffee Shop, and asks where she is. Max explains that she has moved in with Karl. At first, Summer doesn't believe that they are an item. Summer asks questions, and Max tells her it's none of their business. "It's difficult for everyone," Steph says. Max suggests Summer unpacks her bags and after she leaves, he has a word with Steph. He asks her not to Boyd and Summer against their aunt. Steph asserts that she knows that, but Izzy isn't a saint, and it wouldn't hurt for them to know that, they're both old enough to understand. Max says that means she doesn't need to point it out to them. Steph tells him she wishes he would side with her for once, instead of Izzy. She may have had the same difficult childhood as Max, but she's not as tough as he is. Steph says she doesn't believe that Rosie didn't love her. Max tells her she did love her, but she loved God even more. "Do you have any idea how that feels?" When Steph realises that Max is hurting from this as well, she is quick to stop arguing and give him a hug.
Karl's place
Karl notices that Izzy still looks shocked and asks if she's disappointed. She tells him he isn't. Karl asks if she wants a family of her own one day and she tells him that she wants to be with him, so it's his decision about having a baby. While Karl can't imagine being a dad again, he realises that most women want to have a baby sooner or later and he doesn't want to deprive her of that. He notices the test again, and it now says positive. Some tests take longer than others, he says, as has this one.
Karl's place
Izzy asks if Karl wants it. Karl isn't sure, it'll take some getting used to. He assures her that if it is his baby then he'll stick by her. Izzy gets upset at this, that Karl would think she wasn't faithful to him.
Coffee Shop
Lou comes in and at last convinces Harold that he had never seen the woman before, he doesn't even know her name. Harold now believes him and explains that he saw him standing there with a big grin on his face and thought it was a setup. Harold laments that he doesn't deserve to be happy, he should be miserable the rest of his life. Lou suggests he should go back to the Salvos, his faith helped him through any crisis. He needs to fill the void.
Karl's place
Izzy is lying on the bed, upset. Karl comes in and apologises. Izzy tells him he was right, Gus was hardly the responsible type, it could be his baby. He asks Izzy what she wants to do about the pregnancy. Izzy explains that it is unlikely she could ever conceive and the baby is a miracle. She never wanted to have a baby on her own, but since Karl isn't ready to be a father again, she knows what she has to do. Karl interrupts and tells her he knows what they both have to do - set aside a Saturday and go and buy a new cot. The two make up with a kiss.
Karl's place (night)
Max, Steph and Summer visit Izzy, who loves the earrings Summer has bought her. Steph and Izzy try to be civil towards each other. Karl offers a drink, but Max and Steph decide they better go, they didn't want to stay for two long, coming over unannounced with Izzy not well. Izzy and Karl insist, because they can help celebrate. She announces that she and Karl are having a baby. Everyone in the room is shocked.
