- Jack showing Taj the newspaper about the exam cheating
Valda surprises Lyn and Joe by arriving earlier than expected. She loves all the Christmas decorations around the place, and Lyn & Joe baulk at the amount of presents she has bought with her.
The Coffee Shop
Jack and Taj are moping and quietly freaking out. Jack says that Taj has nothing to worry about since he bailed out in time. No one will believe that Jack didn't look at the papers. Jack says the only chance he'll have of getting out of it is if Taj's mate keeps his mouth shut.
Lyn and Joe tell Valda that things have been a bit tight lately, and they feel bad that they can't match Valda's generosity. Valda's also amazed that Gino let Lyn back to work so early when Lyn tells her... but then figures out that something is up with that too. Lyn says she'll pop the kettle on so they can catch up.
The Coffee Shop
Taj says he'll try and set things straight with Pete (the exam cheat). Jack's pleased that Taj would do that for him. Taj says he'll go on his own so that Pete won't get spooked.
Valda's upset that she didn't know about any of the drama's that have been happening in the Scully household. Lyn says that their relationship is still so new and she didn't know what to do. Valda gets up and says that she's going to the pub, and Lyn promises they'll have a big chat when she gets back.
Taj tries to be nice when Pete comes to see him, but Pete figures out that Taj wants to know if he named names.
Lyn suddenly realises that Lou may not have told Valda about his engagement. Joe says that he probably has, but Lyn rushes down to the pub just in case. Joe and Jack chat and Joe's surprised to learn that Jack and Taj are mates again. He also says that he's impressed and proud with the way Jack handled his exams. Jack looks guilty.
Pete gets offended with Taj when he tries to make out that there was no other guilty parties. Pete walks away with Taj yelling after him, "What are you going to do?"
Joe's still rabbiting on about how proud he and Lyn are of Jack, "You know what I'm saying?" "Yeah dad, I know what you're saying. It's all crap." Joe looks at him funny. Jack asks him if he wants to know the truth about the exams.
Valda and Trixie are enjoying a chat and a drink together, oblivious to whom the other person actually is. They compare the 'wonderful' men in their lives, also not realising they're both speaking about Lou. Valda even admires Trixie's ring. Trixie jumps up and kisses Lou when he walks in. Lou's eyes nearly fall out of his head when he sees Valda, and Valda looks like she's about to cry. Lyn rushes in too late. Valda unconvincingly says that she's really happy for Lou and Trixie and rushes out.
Joe is mad at Jack about the exam papers, but calms down a bit when Jack tells him that he ripped them up without even looking at them. Joe wonders if Jack would have told him about it all if it wasn't out in the open. Jack truthfully says no.
The Coffee Shop
Valda and Lyn are having a coffee. Valda is still very shaken up. She pretends she's happy for Lou. She tells Lyn that she doesn't want her to feel obligated to share everything with her, she doesn't want to rush their relationship. Lyn takes her hand and says that it'll be good for them to have her around at Christmas. "It'll be extra special for me. It's my first Christmas with my mum."
Trixie's surprised when Lou lets slip that he still wrote to Valda. Lou reassures her that Valda and himself share a special bond over a few things, but they're just good friends. Lou says there's no one else he wants but Trixie. She grabs his shirt collar and tells him to prove it. "What's a couple of weeks in the big scheme of things, hmm?" Lou's eyes light up. (Eww! Trixou™ Deskluvin™!).
The Coffee Shop
Taj tells Jack that things didn't go so well with Pete, and Jack gets all depressed. Jack says that it'll be humiliating when everyone finds out, but Taj says as long as he has his integrity in tact it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks. "I spose you're right," says Jack. "When did you become the Dalai Lama?"
Rocco and Carmella swing by for Carmella's shift. Rocco comments on Connor's good work ethic, and Lou says it's a shame that he's only on a tourist Visa. Rocco offers to sort things out, but Lou hastily declines. Carmella sets to work.
Trixie notes that Connor's in a sticky situation (regarding Carmella & Rocco), and that she doesn't blame him for trying to take his mind off "things". Trixie's in denial about Nina not coming back for the wedding. Connor says that Nina hasn't said anything in her letters about coming back, and she's settling down in India. Trixie says that Nina will be back. "Yeah, but we still have to get on with things, right?" He turns around to spot Carmella smiling at him.
Lou asks Carmella if she's keeping busy and she tells him that her feet are killing her. Trixie then walks in from somewhere and she and Lou starting about cooking, which Connor and Carmella quickly excuse themselves from. Trixie tells Lou to talk to Valda, because she thinks it must've been difficult for Valda to find out that they're getting married.
Carmella and Connor are talking about her father. She tells him that Rocco is a bit of a control freak and thinks he knows everything. Connor tells her she should stand up to him, but she tells him he doesn't know her father well enough.
The Pub still, but in Lou's office
Trixie walks into the office carrying her dress and tells him that was the only dress she could get from the dry cleaner. Lou subtly hints that she's worn that dress quite often and offers to buy her a new one. He tells her that he's got a surprise for her at home. Trixie asks him what it is, but he won't tell her and she starts poking him.
Lyn, Joe and Valda walk in and comment on Lou's surprise for Trixie. "'Trixie and Lou's Christmas' lighting up the night's sky". Neither Joe nor Valda are as impressed by the whole thing and Valda even calls it vulgar. "That's not Christmas, that's Las Vegas". She tells them, that if it were her organising something, she'd have done it much more nicely. Lyn tries to sway her from the idea, but Joe prods her to continue and asks what she had in mind. She tells him that with his muscles and her money they'll out do Lou's little display easily.
The Coffee Shop
Lou is getting spoilt by Trixie with a nice, unhealthy breakfast.
Trixie: I just wanted to thank you for that wonderful display.Lou: Are you talking about the Christmas display?Trixie: Oh, we could be.
Lou chuckles and Trixie quickly moves onto a bit of shop talk. She tells him the first choice for Hello Dolly is unavailable and Trixie's been asked to fill in. Lou congratulates her and suggests that they incorporate the tour into their honeymoon. Trixie thinks that's a wonderful idea and goes on to suggest that he become a backer as well. Lou says that they'd probably want a lot of money and she tells him they're not asking for much, "only five hundred...thousand." Lou's fork falters on it's way to his mouth.
