- David tells Liljana they've lost everything
Harold's
David tries to tell Liljana things aren't so bad but she's very angry, saying that only a fool would have trusted Thomas without checking him out. They continue to argue heatedly despite Serena asking them to stop; he criticises her spending and she complains about his attitude in constantly emphasising that they were well off. Sky and Boyd arrive home but are afraid to go in. Harold arrives just afterwards and goes in himself to get David and Liljana to stop shouting, as that won't solve any problems. Liljana tells David to explain to his father what he's done, but David storms out, saying that she gets so much satisfaction out of it she should tell him herself.
Serena follows her father out but he says he'll just go for a walk to clear his head, so she should go in and look after her mum. He promises that he'd never let her down.
When Harold's reaction to Liljana's explanation is to say that he never trusted Thomas, Liljana replies that that's probably why David went ahead, to prove Harold wrong. They, in turn, have a heated argument during which he accuses her of getting David to buy her so much and she eventually tells him he raised David to fail, through his expectations and constant criticisms. It ends when she says that if he were such a great father he'd be out looking for David rather than fighting with her.
Pub
Harold has told Lou about the argument and Lou suggests that perhaps what Liljana said has some truth, that this might be a golden opportunity to right some wrongs. In his view, Harold needs to get off his high horse, stop being so judgemental and just support David, whose family's falling apart because he needs his dad's help to put it together again.
Coffee Shop
Sky's trying to reassure Serena, who says she's never seen her father like that. Boyd buys them drinks and goes off for a skate. Sky thanks him quietly and carries on talking to Serena. Harold comes to check she's Ok and says he's going to find David to help sort things out.
Outside Grease Monkeys
David is sitting dejectedly on a bench outside the antique shop when he sees Harold drive past obviously looking for him. He sighs and purses his lips as Harold reverses and parks the car. [Deep by Charlton Hill is playing loudly 'I'm in too deep don't let me drown, I'm in too deep - rescue me now............'] David tells Harold he doesn't want to hear what he has to say. Harold says he doesn't know what it is and sits beside him. David lists - he's a hopeless judge of character, a failure, a terrible father. Harold stays silent and puts his arm across David's shoulders.
Hoylands'
Max, Steph and Summer are getting ready to go to the cinema. Summer's in her fourth outfit, although she keeps insisting it's not a date when they tease her.
Outside, Steph says she wonders if things have settled down 'over there' now.
MAX: Do you?
STEPH: Don't you?
MAX: No, not really.
STEPH: Max, you should know by now that if you live in this street you must pay an unusual amount of attention to the neighbours.
Summer gives Max his orders to stay in the background and they leave for the cinema.
Coffee Shop
Serena realises Boyd went to give them space and comments that he's so sweet and well-trained. Sky teases him by talking about various tricks he performs, like 'fetching' etc.
Cinema
Max isn't really listening to Steph because he can see that Declan is ignoring Summer and fooling around with his friends. He even yells at them at one stage but Steph grabs him and tells him to settle down if he wants to get out alive.
Harold's
Liljana has prepared a meal and is fussing around Harold until he says loudly that there are more important things to discuss than his dinner. David's reluctant but Harold just wants to go through the bills to see if they can reduce the debt.
Street
Serena is chattering away to Sky and Boyd as they walk home, when he says he has to go behind a shrub 'for a slash'. While he's busy and just visible some larrikins come along in a car and one gets out to talk to the girls, but Sky soon sees them off with a wisecrack. Boyd emerges from the shrub and asks if they're Ok. 'No thanks to you' says Sky, who nevertheless seems a bit shaken.
Cinema
Max and Steph are engrossed in the film. Declan keeps an eye on them and moves so he's sitting by Summer. He puts his arm round her, which annoys Max. Steph comments that Summer can look after herself and soon afterwards is proved right because Summer, who hasn't looked too happy with the arrangement anyway, takes Declan's arm from her shoulders and twists his wrist painfully.
Hoylands'
Serena and Sky go home after some teasing comments from Sky about the protection from 'Boy Wonder'. Boyd is left looking thoughtful and a bit upset.
Harold's
The three adults are going through all the papers. There are big debts but Harold says some companies will accept a payment plan, then he will lend them the rest and they can live with him. David argues against Liljana's intention to go to work to help, but she still says that they'll have to take Serena out of her private school. Sky and Summer are eavesdropping at the front door, while David protests that he will work extra hours to help keep her at Eden Hills Grammar.
Morning, Harold's
David tells Serena he's had another look at the figures and he can't keep her at the school, so he's going to see Susan about enrolment at Erinsborough High and she'd better say goodbye to her friends that day. She says she understands, as she overheard them talking about it, but once outside starts to cry. David is talking to someone who wants him to maintain payments on the car even though he's returned it. He's very subdued as he goes off to work, barely speaking to his wife. With a little sigh, Liljana puts her University enrolment forms in the bin, but agrees with Harold that it's junk mail. They make small talk and then she persuades him to let her work in The Coffee Shop to repay him for having the family live with him. As soon as she's left to do some ironing, he checks the papers in the bin and looks frustrated and worried when he sees what they are.
