Recap
Police telling Karl he's over the limit.
Joanne asking Max out for lunch.
Stu telling Libby that proposing to Flick was a mistake.
Libby tells Stuart that he doesn't really mean that. Stu reminds Lib how exciting New York City is, and when Flick asks about Australia all he can say is 'weather's fine, everyone's ok.' It's just not working out anymore. Lib tells him that he is just convincing himself because he hasn't seen her in a long time, and soon he will get to see her. Stu looks puzzled until Libby mentions the best boyfriend competition. He just scoffs but she reminds him that he is a finalist.
Karl and Toadie meet in the coffee shop. They are discussing Toadie's practice with Tim Collins until he points out that Karl wanted to talk about a legal issue. Karl fills in Toadie that he was caught drink driving, 0.7 above the limit. All Toadie just says is 'ouch'. Karl looks amazed. 'You have been studying law for five years and all you can say is ouch' He then casually asks what Susan thought of this but Karl quickly tells Toadie that she doesn't know. Toadie shakes his head. He then gets all business like and asks Karl what he is facing. Karl replies that he is facing six months suspension of his license and a $300 fine, and he has 28 days to appeal it. Toadie agrees to take on the case.
Libby asks Steph how the funeral was. She claimed it was weird because she didn't even know who half the people who attended. Steph then tells Stu that Flick sent a beautiful bunch of flowers to the funeral, and that the must have cost her a fortune. Stu just reminds her that she is earning US dollars now, so she would have to pay a lot for them. Steph looks at Stuart strangely and asks if anything's the matter. He claims everything's ok. She smiles and tells him that Flick is lucky to have a fiancé like him, and that she misses him like crazy. This got Stuart's attention. 'Why did she tell you that?" Steph told him that she didn't need to. Stuart just forces a smile.
Toadie is on the phone to Tim and convinces him to take on Karl's case. He hangs up the phone as Karl sits back down. Toadie tells him it's all been arranged, but there is one thing he needs to reconsider. To tell Susan the truth. Karl shakes his head and says no, and asks him if they can keep it between them. Toadie agrees but tells Karl that Susan would feel upset if she heard it anywhere else but him. Karl looks pensive.
Cricket practice. Daniel bowls and Boyd slogs the ball. Max cheers along with Joanne. Joanne thanks Max for letting her son Sean join the team. Max smiles, and tells her it was no worries. She pretends to be surprised that Max hasn't got tickets to the Warratahs match, and Max looks slightly disappointed saying that he couldn't get any. Joanne informs Max that she is having a BBQ at her house later and offers him and the family to join them. Max agrees.
Steph is reading the sympathy cards that her family had received, while Libby is sitting across from her. She pauses at a card and begins to stare at it. Libby asks her what's wrong. Steph gives a small smile and hands over the card. It was from Max, Boyd and Summer. Steph fills Libby in about Boyd and Daniel's prank by hanging over the fence and peeping into the bathroom. 'Those little devils' claimed Libby. Steph continues saying that Max peep over the fence and accidentally saw her to. Libby gasps and asks if she was wearing clothes. Steph shook her head. Lib then gives a sly smile and told her that she now had the upper hand, so she better use it!
Lib and Susan are talking about the new school principal. They both disagreed with the choices she was making on running the school. Susan looks at Lib and tells her that this new principal is trying to make her look like an outcast. So she's going to challenge her. Libby grins and tells her mother that the kids call her 'barking ham.' They both burst out laughing and at that moment Karl walks in with a new shoe rack. 'You were saying the other day that we needed a new shoe rack, so I picked this one up today.' Susan looks suspicious.
The Hoylands are hosting the BBQ for Joanne and Sean, and while the boys are playing footy, while Summer is listening to music. Joanne asks her what music she is listening to and Summer tells her it ABBA and points out they were her mother's. Joanne offers to show Summer how to make salad dressing, but Summer says that she can't do it. Max insists that she did it the other night, but she tells him it was wrong, and she doesn't feel like it. Max offers to do it and heads inside, leaving the two of them alone.
Steph knocks at the door and Max invites her in. They talk about the shower incident and Max kept apologizing, but Steph insists it was an accident...for him anyway. Max confides in her that he was a little nervous in facing her, not knowing how she'd react. Steph laughs and tells him that there is no awkwardness between them and it's all over with.
Joanne tries to warm to Summer but Summer wont have a bar of her. She unscrews the tomato-sauce lid while Joanne isn't looking and 'accidentally' squeezes it all over Joanne's white blouse. Joanne yelped and headed inside, while Summer yelled an apology. She then covered her mouth to prevent herself from laughing.
Joanne runs into the kitchen and sees Steph standing there. Steph looks at her ruined blouse and ask what happened. Joanne explained about Summer's 'accident' and is behaving towards Joanne the way she is because she feels threatened. Steph looks pensive. Joanne asks Steph for a favor; if she can leave so her an Max could have some private time. Steph looks taken aback but agrees, excusing herself to Max, saying she needs to visit Libby. Max looks disappointed.Susan and Lib are chatting away when Steph knocks on the door. Karl is in the background showing his frustration by assembling the shoe-rack. Susan tries to calm Karl down, while Steph informs Lib it's over. She no longer is going to pine over Max, and that Joanne is after her. She feels so game that she tells Lib that when the head down to the pub, and will ask out the first guy she sees. Libby laughs and asks if Susan can look after Ben. "Oh Lib your not going to leave me with your father and blunt instruments." Steph and Lib smile and head out the door. Karl continues to show his frustration, telling Susan that he's doing it right, and the wood falls on the floor with a loud clunk. Susan tells him enough is enough, and asks him what's wrong. Karl tells her he is facing a suspension of his license, and that he was lying to her. Susan frowns.
Stuart, Toadie and Darcy and playing darts at the pub. Stuart tells them proudly that Ben lasted almost the entire match, and that he is definitely a cricket fanatic. He then looks at Toadie and tells him that he'd be a great dad for when him and Dee have kids. Darcy laughs and says he can picture Toadie settling down with Dee, a married couple. Toadie says that they have talked about it... but not in a lot of detail. Darcy offers him some advice; never marry a woman who is getting married for a second time, it never works.
Libby and Steph walk in and the first person Steph sees is Darcy. Steph insists that it isn't fair and they should change the rule. Lib agrees. They both stare at the bartender and Libby asks if she'd do it. Steph simply smiles and says 'maybe'.
Karl admits that he has an upstanding part of the community, being the local doctor. He likes the fact that people look up to him. He confides in Susan that he doesn't want people's impression of him to change. Or her's for that matter. Susan informs Karl that people will probably talk, but they can deal with that, and that she will love him no matter what. She tells him that there is nothing to worry about, and they can work through this together. Karl apologizes and Susan gives him a hug.
Libby tells the guys playing darts that Steph is going to ask out the bartender. Stu just laughs and is sure that Steph will back out. He is so confident he bets $100 with Toadie, who disagrees. Darcy approaches them and ask what's going on. Lib just laughs and tells him that 'these two' are betting on Steph like she's a filly in the cup.
Steph is chatting with Alex the bartender and they seem to be hitting it off very well. He tells he that he is new on the job and needs the money to save up for his dream. A trip around Australia. Steph gasps and says that was her dream too. The bartender smiles and confides Steph and tells her his 'darkest secret,' that he lives at home with his parents. Steph grins.
Joanne asks if she could speak with Max alone for a minute. Summer is doing the dishes and tells her to hang on, as she is almost finished. Max is firm with her and tells her to give them some privacy, and she reluctantly leaves. Joanne tells Max that he is a great guy and was asking for something more than friendship, but Max tells her he doesn't want to be more than friends. Joanne looks disappointed. Max apologizes but Joanne brushes it off, and that if he ever changes his mind, to give her a call.
Steph is still chatting with the bartender when he notices her friends staring. He tells her that they are looking impatient, and she thanks him and walks back to the table with the drinks. Stu cheers but Lib encourages her to take the plunge. Steph runs back to the counter and asks Alex on a date. Alex looked eager and agreed. Libby and Toadie cheer. Stu hands Toad the money. Steph once again grins.
