Ruth tells Joel that he should be on crutches to take the pressure off of his knee. She tells him that she's not going to treat him anymore if he won't take her advice - if he keeps pushing his knee, he won't have a knee. Libby talks to Amy about Drew, she tells her he's being really insensitive. Amy can't believe she's talking about the same guy! Amy asks her if she's in love with him, Libby is surprised and says she's not in love with him, she's angry with him. Amy says she can't stop talking about him! Libby says the last thing Joel needs is to have Drew going out with his ex-girlfriend under his nose. At the garage, Drew talks to Joel about Geri - Joel tells him that he doesn't mind if they want to date, he was a little hurt that he didn't tell him he was interested in her but that was all. Anne and Bill are going to the 'Single and Suffering' night at uni even though Bill's not too excited by the prospect of them not being matched up. Lance and Megan are also going and so is Amy, who tells Lance that Damien's going when he goes on about her being single and suffering herself. Anne asks Amy why she said that, she says she can't stand Lance having one up on her. Later, Anne talks to Lance about laying off Amy a bit because she's having a tough time right now - he realises that Damien's dumped her and Anne eventually caves in and tells him he's right. Megan and her friend Rachael talk about Lance - they laugh about how daggy he is. Phil talks to Lance about Megan later and says again how much he's changed since he met her, Lance says it's for the best. Drew invites Joel on a bike ride to prove to him that he's not capable of competing in the triathlon. Bill sees them leave and mentions it to Libby when he gets indoors, she says she can't believe Drew would do that to Joel - he could cause his knee no end of damage. Drew's plan works though, Joel can't keep up the pace on the ride and has to stop when his knee is causing him too much pain -Drew gets him to understand that he'll fail miserably if he entered the contest. Later, Joel heads over to Number 26 to see Ruth but only Phil's there. He tells Phil to pass on to Ruth how sorry he is for the way he 's treated her. Phil tries to cheer him up by telling him that things will get better (see episode notes). Drew sees Libby at the pub that evening and she tells him that she can't believe he's ruining Joel's life by pushing him so far over the edge. Drew tells her she's unbelievable, he was trying to push him to the edge, not over it - he was showing him his limits. Libby realises she's made a mistake and says it's only because she was worried about Joel. Drew sarcastically says it can't have been for any other reason. Joel's hardly-ever-seen casual girlfriend, Jemma, pops up again and complains to Joel that they hardly ever see each other now, he asks her how he could make it up to her. She asks him to come the 'Single and Suffering' night as she's going to be the host. The 'Single and Suffering' night gets underway. Everyone fills in their card so that they can be fed into the computer and the perfect matches can be found. Bill wants him and Anne to copy each other's forms but she says they should fill them out individually. Lance sees Amy and she tells him Damien was too busy to come - he shocks her by not making any sarcastic comments. When the results are read out later, Anne is paired up with... David Hodges (see episode notes) -the mysterious voice on the ansaphone. Anne recognises him as Fanto (named so because he collects Phantom comics) from one of her classes - she'd only known him by his nickname. Bill isn't too pleased by the whole situation! He's even less pleased when he is matched up with Lance's girlfriend, Megan, who is only too pleased to ditch Lance for Bill! (Well, it's not surprising really!) Amy and Lance are announced as King and Queen of the uni ball and don't seem too pleased with the result! Jemma gives them their crowns and tells them they have to kiss for a whole minute - they give each other a peck on the cheek but the crowd shouts for more. They kiss for a few seconds before Amy breaks it up and walks out. Lance looks at Megan. |
