Recap Karl returns from a house call and offers Sarah, who is stranded in Ramsay Street on her own, a lift to her wedding when she explains that her Mum won't get there in time to drive her. He says it might raise a few eyebrows but she says that's better than missing her wedding... but there's one more thing - she asks him to help her put on her dress as the buttons have got to be done up at the back. Peter is getting nervous waiting for Sarah to arrive. The Reverend arrives a bit late himself and Lou asks him if the organist is there yet. The Reverend says she's not coming because she wasn't booked, Lou says he didn't realise he had to book her. The Reverend suggests finding out if one of the guests could play it. Lou tries out Billy first, who says he hasn't played the keyboard since Year 9! Then Harold gives it a go but is appalling. Ruth comes in with Phil and hears Harold, she tells Lou that she could give it a try as she can play a bit. She takes over and is perfect! Karl drives an agitated Sarah to the wedding, he takes his own shortcut. Sarah worries that everyone will be gone once she gets there, she asks why everything always goes wrong for her but Karl tries to calm her down. At the church, Libby wonders if Sarah's changed her mind yet again - while Susan is preoccupied, probably wondering where Karl is. The Reverend tells Peter that he has to be at a baptism in an hour and asks Peter if he thinks she might have changed her mind, Peter says he's sure she'll be there soon. His best man, Trent, tries his best to keep him calm and reassure him that Sarah will arrive shortly. Karl's car breaks down leaving him and Sarah stranded on the side of the road. Thankfully, a police car comes along just in time and the constable is more than happy to give them both a lift to the ceremony - he tells them they were going the wrong way anyway! Back at the church, Lance teases Amy that she might have caused Sarah to change her mind seeing as she was the last person with her! Peter finally decides to announce to everyone that the wedding is not going to happen... but he's interrupted by the sound of a police siren outside! Sarah and Karl arrive, Karl is met by an icy glare from Susan and Sarah is met by Amy who wants to know why she's so late! The wedding takes place and Sarah and Peter become man and wife. After the ceremony, everyone congratulates them. Sarah decides to go and freshen up before the photos are taken, she meets Karl who's looking for the toilet. Sarah thanks him for what he did earlier and asks him if he's happy. He says he is and she says she is too. He tells her she looks radiant and gives her a peck on the cheek... which turns into a passionate full-on kiss. Peter calls out to Sarah and they break apart, looking very guilty. Sarah goes back and the pictures are taken, she then throws her bouquet which is caught by... Lance! Lou calls out and a beautiful horse-driven carriage rides in to take Sarah and Peter away. She exchanges a look with Karl before leaving with her new husband. Drew can't keep his eyes off Libby at the wedding. Later, after the wedding, Amy goes to the pub and chats to Libby. Geri walks in and tells them she's meeting someone there, when Drew comes in too, they are shocked to find that he's Geri's date. Back at Number 28, Susan and Ruth discuss the day's events. They drink to the fact that Sarah will be making a new life for herself a long way from Erinsborough! Later, Karl comes back from the after-wedding-party and finds Susan in her dressing gown. She says it was lucky he was around for Sarah earlier, he says it's amazing that even after an ordeal like that she could still look stunning. Susan doesn't look pleased by that comment. That night, Karl sits up in bed next to the seemingly asleep Susan. He asks her if she's awake, she doesn't answer so he lies back down. Susan's eyes open. |
