Recap
- Ben tells Matt and Sarah that his sister is coming to stay with them.
- Matt and Ben take their car to Coleridge Park, and follow Jimmy and Sarah around the track.
- Ben speeds up to race Jimmy and Sarah, over Matt's objections, and spins off the track.
Coleridge Park
Matt and Ben take off their helmets (they're fine) and Matt calls Ben an idiot for racing. Ben protests that he got the car under control. Sarah and Jimmy pull up and Sarah runs over to check they're okay. Jimmy tells them he could have them banned for behaving like 'street hoons.' He tells Ben he can't do anything until he gets his racing licence. Sarah then tells Ben he could have got himself and Matt killed and she won't forgive him quickly for that.
Pool
Billy watches a girl (who we later learn is Ben's sister Caitlin) swimming. He glances at the clock as she finishes a lap and looks impressed.
The Kennedys
Karl is putting on his shoes when Libby comes in and asks where Susan is, because she's supposed to read over Libby's essay. Karl tells her Susan's gone to the school for a meeting: they're talking about about merging Erinsbrough High and Elliot Park. Libby speculates that soon there'll only be three schools left in the state and Karl agrees that people won't like it. Libby is worried Susan will lose her job, but Karl seems unconcerned, thinking it might be a win-win situation.
The Pool
Toadie is following Billy around as he has nothing better to do. Billy suggests he hang out with Hannah and Claire, ("and talk about what make-up goes best with my jeans?") Billy thought Toadie 'loved' Claire, but apparently she's "too French." Billy then suggests Toadie do something with Lance, ("not without surgically removing him from Amy") or Anne, ("you seriously want me to hang out with Anne?") Toadie is distracted by Caitlin getting out of the pool, and Billy says she's a good swimmer. Toadie goes over and introduces himself, but is interrupted by another swimmer. Caitlin gets back in the pool, and Toadie introduces himself to the other girl. Billy laughs.
No. 30
Sarah is still having a go at Ben. They go into the house to find Caitlin's suitcases and a note saying she arrived early and has gone to explore. Ben goes out to find her, because he should look after her, even though Matt think that it's a pretty safe neighbourhood.
The Pool
Toadie tells Billy that Caitlin is hot. Anne comes up behind them and tells Billy she was bored at home. Anne jumps in, but Billy tries to stop her. He tells her that she's jumped into the fast lap lane. Caitlin swims into Anne, and Anne tells her to watch where she's going. Caitlin tells Anne that she's in her lane and Anne tells Caitlin she didn't know. Caitlin asks Billy to get Anne 'out of here,' and Billy tells Anne to get out. Billy tells Anne that Caitlin takes her swimming seriously, and Anne thinks she takes it too seriously.
The Kennedys garden
Susan and Libby come outside to hang up washing, while Susan tells Libby about the meeting. Susan is unahppy about it, and says they're going to start moving the resources straight away. Karl walks past, and Libby comments, "win-win situation, hey?" Karl asks how long until they close the school, and Susan says it'll be the end of the term. She might have a job, but because they're streamlining administration, she'll probably lose her job as 'school co-ordinator.' Susan's more worried about the students though. Susan tells Libby that they'll put 60 desks in a classroom, use portable classrooms and labs and libraries as classrooms. She thinks that it's a terrible situation. Karl tells her she might as well accept it as it's a 'done-deal.' Susan isn't going to though: she's going to fight it. Libby supports her, but Karl is worried that Susan will exhaust herself fighting something she can't win. Susan tells him she won't because she'll have lots of help and leaves him to hang up the washing while she makes some phone calls.
Ramsay Street
Toadie, Anne and Billy decide to go to Anne's. Ben catches up with them in the street and asks if they will hang out with his sister. Billy seems surprised that he has another sister and Ben points out that he has a whole other family. Ben tells them she's already arrived, but he doesn't know where she is. He tells them she's 16, and Toadie asks if she's good looking. Ben tells him she is. Anne wonders how they are related and Ben's says he hopes they'll be good friends. Caitlin then arrives in the street. Ben introduces them and Catlin says they've already met. Both Anne and Caitlin are unhappy and Caitlin tells Ben she needs to go inside because her hair is wet. Toadie tells her to pop next door and see them anytime. Anne thinks Caitlin is a spoilt brat and doesn't want to have anything to do with her.
No. 30
Sarah and Matt are meeting Caitlin and Matt says if she needs anything to ask Sarah. Ben asks if Caitlin wants to go find Anne and the boys, but Caitlin doesn't. He tells her he noticed that Caitlin was cold with Anne when he introduced them. Caitlin tells him Anne got in her way at the pool and she told Anne she was being a jerk. Matt points out that it's a public pool. Ben tells Caitlin that she should explain the situation and that an apology 'wouldn't hurt.' Caitlin doesn't want to and she is upset at being stuck with Ben. Matt and Sarah make an excuse to leave. Caitlin thinks Anne should apologise, but Ben convinces her to.
No. 32
Caitlin apologies for being rude. Toadie tells her she's entitled to be touchy about her training and Billy agrees they should forget it. Anne sort of accepts it, saying 'whatever.' Ben leaves Caitlin at No. 32. Caitlin mistakes Bonny for a boy, and Anne corrects her. Caitlin tells her she has a problem with being wrong, but Anne doesn't think that she was and turns to Billy for support. Billy says that Anne did jump in the wrong place. Toadie says it was a simple mistake. He asks if Caitlin wants a guided tour of Erinsborough and they leave. Billy laughs at what Toadie will do to impress a 'good looking girl,' and Anne asks him if he thinks Caitlin's good looking. Billy stumbles a bit, and Anne tells him to quit while he's ahead.
Ramsay Street
Toadie is telling Caitlin about Anne and Lance. He points out where he and Billy live and explains why he lives with them when he's not related. Susan calls Toadie over and introduces Caitlin. Susan tells Toadie about the merge and tells him she expects him to be at the first protest. Toadie replies that as soon as he has his VCE he's leaving and he doesn't care about the school. Susan tries to convince him, but he tells her he's looking towards the future.
No. 30
Matt's been called into work for a meeting. Sarah asks if he's in trouble, but he doesn't think so. Jimmy knocks at the door to speak to Ben. They go into the living room and Jimmy gives him a piece of paper about the racing licence. Sarah stalks out. Ben asks Jimmy if he still think he should get his racing licence and Jimmy says they always need new blood. ("Just not on the track," Ben jokes, but Jimmy doesn't get it.) Ben thanks Jimmy and apologies again. He asks if Matt can get in as well.
The Kennedys
Toadie and Caitlin are making something to eat while Catlin tells him that she's going to train with the team at Erinsborough pool, and that the other girl, Mandy, wants to be her training partner. Toadie tells her she can't swim for the whole holidays, and Caitlin tells him he can take her to the movies sometime, as it would cheer her up. She's upset as being dumped on Ben, which is why she had a go at Anne. She tells Toadie her dad's checking out a job in the middle east, and she'll end up at boarding school if they go, and she doesn't mind as long as she can swim. Toadie wonders if she was a fish in a past life. Caitlin tells him she could make it to the Commonwealth Games, but that the program at Erinsborough is different and she's worried about blowing it. Toadie asks if her parents understand how important it is to her, but she doesn't think they do.
No. 32
Toadie is trying to convince Billy sand Anne to be more understanding about Caitlin. Anne still doesn't want to. Billy says she isn't going to be around for long, but as he'll see her at the pool it wouldn't hurt to do something with her afterwards. Anne still doesn't want to hang out with her. Toadie tells Anne that they're practically sisters, but Anne protests that Caitlin isn't even related to Ben. Anne insists that she isn't being stubborn, she just doesn't like Caitlin and she isn't going to change her mind to suit Billy and Toadie.
Ramsay Street
Susan is showing Karl a flyer she printed up. Karl tells her they're very inflammatory and that she gets overly passionate about things. She asks why she shouldn't be, because she really cares about this, but Karl is worried she'll be disappointed by the response. Suan tells him that if enough people make a fuss they won't do it. Libby walks up and tells them the street sign is missing, then compliments Karl on his weeding. Susan asks them to help her do a letterbox job, but Libby tells Susan she's got too much work to do. Susan asks her to talk to the newspaper, but Libby tells her she should do it herself. Toadie, Billy and Anne walk up and Karl tells Susan that they'll help. Toadie protests, saying it's the school holidays. Billy and Anne ask what's going on and Susan can't believe that Toadie didn't tell them. She explains about the merge and Billy tells her it doesn't matter to him. Anne points out that it will affect her and Billy tells her she sould hand out the flyers then. Anne thinks they're being selfish, and points out that the VCE is hard enough without having new teachers and larger classes. Susan is glad someone understands.
No. 30
Matt arrives home and Sarah asks him if it went okay. She tells him that Ben has gone to hand in a form for his racing licence and that Ben got him one as well, but she's not happy about it. Matt tells her that she doesn't have to worrry, but not because he's not interested, because he's being transfered to Port Campbell. Sarah asks if he has to go and Matt tells her that it's a step up for him. Sarah is upset, but Matt asks her to come with him.
