Recap
- Lance isn't happy about the kiss between Phil and Ruth.
- Lou tells Madge that he and Harold have buried the hatchet. He wants them to get together for a card game.
- Billy tells Toadie he's fed up of him having a laugh at Billy's expense - they're not friends anymore.
Kennedys
Toadie is having breakfast when Billy gets up. Billy is still very frosty towards Toadie. Toadie is raving about going to Colac, but Billy says he doesn't want to come.
Toadie says he was just trying go get him and Anne together. Billy retorts that the only thing Toadie has done is ruin his chances with Anne forever. He tells Toadie he is no expert on girlfriends - he's never even had one of his own!
Lou's
Marlene has come to babysit for Louise. Lou tells her that he's made up with Harold and that he's suggested a card game. Marlene doesn't think bygones can be bygones that quickly - the row might flair up again.
LOU: Oh come on. What can possibly go wrong with a friendly game of cards?

Lance tells Anne that Ruth kissed Phil, but that nothing is going to happen. Anne says it doesn't bother her, but she can see it bothers Lance.
LANCE: Things are fine around here as they are.
ANNE: For us, maybe, but what about Mum? You might have just screwed up something really nice for her.
Bishops
Madge is making Harold practice playing cards ahead of the card game that afternoon. Harold heads off to work at the shelter.
Marlene is surprised to hear from Madge that Harold can't play card very well. Madge wants to postpone the game, but Marlene says that Lou is really looking forward to the game.
Ramsay Street
Toadie is sitting in the street, killing time before he goes to work. Phil calls hello to them as he passes.
LANCE: Jerk.
TOADIE:(surprised) Phil's OK, what's the problem?
Lance doesn't want to tell Toadie why though.

Ruth is practising with weights when Phil comes in through the back door. He says he's just dropped in to say hello.
Anne comes in and is smiles at Phil knowingly. Phil tells Anne that he's come to inspect the house - he likes to be a good landlord. He goes off to get some tools.
When Phil has gone, Anne tells Ruth that she thinks it's great that Ruth and Phil have kissed. Ruth says they're just good friends.
ANNE: Look at you - you're so transparent! You're nuts about the guy!
Bishops
Madge is playing patience when Harold comes in. She wants to talk Harold through the rules of 500 again, but he says he won't be paying cards. He says that at the shelter there were loads of guys whose lives had been ruined by gambling. Madge laughs and Harold admits that it's because he sucks at cards(!) Madge says that Harold has to make an effort because the card game means a lot to Lou. Harold says they could play a board game instead. Madge suggests they all have dinner together instead(!)

Anne says that Phil was really embarrassed when she came in. She teases Ruth unmercifully.
ANNE: You guys should just go for it. You *are* old!
Ruth is a bit offended by this! Ruth says that friendship is more than enough right now.
Lance comes in and asks why "Mr Try Hard" was there. Ruth tells him off for being rude about Phil.
Anne tells Lance that she might go and see if Billy wants to hang out for a while - that's if Lance hasn't wrecked things between them.
Kennedys
Billy is pleased to see Anne - but surprised. She's brought the CD back, but he says he can listen to it. They decide to go to the Coffee Shop to get a milkshake.
Lou's
Harold and Madge have come to tell Lou that they don't want to play cards, but he starts showing them the supplies he has bought for them and they can't bring themselves to tell Lou.
LOU: Let the games begin!

Phil is trying to fix Ruth's door but isn't doing very well. He gets a bit crochetty when Ruth laughs at him and stalks off. Lance says that he told Ruth - Phil is a jerk.
Lassiters
Billy is ranting about Toadie saying that he's always taking over things he does. Anne says she really doesn't care about the CDs. She says she doesn't want to come between Billy and Toadie. Billy tells her not to stick up for Toadie.
Anne says that Toadie will be pretty hurt if Billy doesn't go to Colac. But he says he's fed up of Toadie trying to control his life.
BILLY: I wish he'd get out of my face and back to the bush forever!
Lou's
The card game is in full swing. Harold thinks he's starting to get the hang of the game, but he's still not sure if they won the last game or not!
Martins
Ruth has come over with Phil's tools. Phil apologises for the door, saying he'll get a professional in. Ruth tells him rather awkwardly that she and Lance managed to re-hang the door on their own(!) Phil looks downcast. Helen tries not to laugh.
When Ruth has gone, Phil rants a bit to Helen. Helen says Phil embarrassed because he was trying to make a good impression on Ruth(!)
Lou's
Madge and Marlene are at loggerheads now, arguing about the score. Marlene accuses Madge of cheating and Madge takes great offence. She storms out.
Bishops
Madge storms in in great anger. Harold tells her calm down. Madge says she is furious that Marlene called her a cheat.
HAROLD: Sit down. I'll get you something to relax you. Something herbal.
MADGE: A herbal brandy, and make it a double!
Harold says it was meant to be a friendly game - to ease tensions, not cause them! Harold says he'll go and apologise to Marlene but Madge won't let him. Harold says that he's not having Madge arguing with Marlene - she's always telling him off about his fights with Lou. He makes her promise not to go and see Marlene.
MADGE: I still want that brandy!
Kennedys
Anne is just off home. Billy and Toadie are still sulking with each other. Toadie says he's going to Colac - on his own. He doesn't need Billy to come with him.
