Recap
- Danni tells Luke that she wants him back.
Number 28
Debbie is pulling clothes out of the laundry pile to pack. Philip arrives home from walking Holly and teases her that when she packs, she's supposed to use clean clothes. She tells him that they are clean - they're just mixed up, so she's separating hers from everyone else's.
PHILIP: (confused) ...right. ...did I miss something? Why are you packing?
Debbie explains - to a very confused Philip - that she's going to Perth with Luke and they decided to go on the spur of the moment.
PHILIP: Why are you taking Luke?
DEBBIE: What is wrong with Luke?
PHILIP: I'm not saying there's anything wrong with him; I just wondered why you'd...invited him.
DEBBIE: Um, I don't know. He's a nice guy!
PHILIP: How long's this been going on?
DEBBIE: What?
PHILIP: You and Luke.
DEBBIE: There is nothing going on. He's just a good friend and we're going to have an unreal time!
Debbie goes off to her room to hunt for her sandals. Philip looks a bit concerned and slightly baffled!
Number 30
Danni is quizzing Luke, saying that it's not a difficult decision - either he wants to give them another try, or he doesn't! Luke insists that it's not an easy decision.
DANNI: (hurt) If you don't want me any more...
LUKE: I do!
DANNI: Really?
LUKE: Yes.
DANNI: Then what's the problem?
Luke is worried about how fast they take things - he doesn't want them to make a mistake. He suggests it's self preservation, and Danni thinks that's understandable. Luke tells her that if he's honest, he doesn't know what his real feelings are - and if he does love her, he doesn't know how much.
Danni looks a bit bewildered by this admission! They agree to give things another try, but to take it one step at a time. Danni laughs about how it wasn't difficult at all for them to sort things out, but Luke says the hard part comes next - telling Debbie that he's not going to Perth with her.
Number 26
Luke knocks and Debbie is surprised to see him, as he should be home packing. Philip makes a sharp exit with Holly to give them some privacy. Luke tells Debbie that he can't go to Perth, and Debbie tries to talk him around, not really understanding why he's changed his mind.
LUKE: Something's come up.
DEBBIE: Do you mean Danni?
LUKE: Um, we've decided to give it another shot.
Debbie looks shellshocked.
DEBBIE: What is wrong with you? As soon as that sleazy Steve's out of the picture, Little Miss Sweetiepie comes back and acts as like nothing's ever happened!
LUKE: I'm sorry.
DEBBIE: *You're* sorry? I'm the one who cared about you.
LUKE: I appreciate everything you've done for me. You've been a really good friend but I'm afraid that's all we can be.
DEBBIE: (hopeful) Well, look, we can be friends in Perth!
Luke thanks her for asking him along, but tells her that he can't go. He hopes she'll have a nice time and she says that she'll send him a postcard and tell him what he's missing. Luke leaves and Philip tentatively comes back in.
PHILIP: We overheard. Holly was eavesdropping.
DEBBIE: What is wrong with me? Why doesn't anything ever work out for me?!
PHILIP: (gently) You can't make him go if he doesn't want to.
DEBBIE: Well, it was me - he was telling me he was going one minute and then he just changed his mind the next.
PHILIP: Yeah, I know. It's still his decision though.
Philip pulls her into a hug and Debbie is very upset.
DEBBIE: It's not fair.
Number 28
Toadie arrives at 28. Billy is funny with him, and Toadie wonders what's wrong.
BILLY: Maybe I should frisk you for a taperecorder.
Toadie - who's looking in the fridge - can't believe he's still narky about the stunt he pulled on Melissa. Billy says he is, and tells him to leave his food alone! Toadie guesses that Melissa has been giving Billy a hard time over it all, and goes on about how under the thumb Billy is.
BILLY: Did you want something? Apart from our food?
Toadie tells him not to be funny with him! Billy gets irate about how they're supposed to be a team - they're supposed to record *other* people and put them on air; not each other. Toadie kicks off about how they won't be a team for very long with him moving anyway, so if Billy wants to pull the plug now, it's fine by him. Billy pulls him back and says that he didn't say that - it's just that neither he nor Melissa appreciated Toadie's stunt.
TOADIE: Ok, so I overestimated your sense of humour. I apologise! Do you want me to kiss your feet?(!)
Billy looks at his feet. Then shrugs.
BILLY: Go on.
Toadie sighs and shakes his head and the pair laugh. Billy wants to know why Toadie came over. Toadie says that if Billy wants Shockwaves to keep going, they've got to find Big Kev a job in Erinsborough.
BILLY: Do I look like the CES to you?!
Toadie tells him that just because he apologised, it doesn't mean Billy can start getting smart on him! Toadie tells him to get hold of today's paper and when they've finished school, he's got a shift at the Coffee Shop so they can scour it then. Billy gets up to get the paper and Toadie digs into Billy's food.
BILLY: OI!
Number 30
Danni apologises to Luke for stuffing things up between him and Debbie, which she didn't intend to happen (er, yes, you did). Danni is happy that they've got a fresh start though. Luke wishes that he didn't have to hurt Debbie in the process and regrets leading her on.
Danni thinks that it's not Luke's fault. He thinks it's not much fun for anyone if you fancy someone and they don't feel anything in return. He's been on the receiving end of that in the past, and he knows that it hurts.
Coffee Shop
Billy and Toadie are looking at the paper. Billy suggests that he becomes a florist, but Toadie rejects that. Billy then suggests that Big Kev becomes a funeral director but Toadie jokes that it'd be gross if he got really busy and had to bring his work home!
Toadie spots one for a hardware store and thinks that would be perfect, but Billy points out that it's for computer hardware. Billy thinks the situation doesn't look good. Toadie says they have to think of something, else he'll end up a thousand miles from nowhere! Billy thinks that Shockwaves just won't be the same.
BILLY: Who'll want to listen to boring old B-Boy without Mr T?
Hospital
Philip is visiting Helen.
PHILIP: Don't ask me what's going on. If I'd been invited to Perth by a gorgeous girl at Luke's age, I'd have jumped at the chance. Still would!
Helen thinks that Debbie must be disappointed. Philip reckons that's a fair assessment!
HELEN: I wonder why he agreed to go in the first place? Is he on the rebound? What do you think?
PHILIP: Absolutely. Classic case.
HELEN: Oh, I should be home for Debbie. She needs me.
Philip looks concerned, and tells Helen to concentrate on getting herself better. He tells her not to worry about Debbie - or anyone else - she should be working on getting herself home. Helen tells Philip that they're doing a mobility test on her today, so they can work out how well she can use her limbs.
Philip thinks this sounds good, as they'll be checking to see if she can return home. Helen hopes that will happen, but is clearly worried about something. Philip tells her not to worry, but she says that if she doesn't pass, she'll be stuck in hospital for even longer!
HELEN: (upset) I want to go home.
Number 30
Luke is on the phone, talking to a prospective flatmate. He hangs up and there's a knock at the door - it's Debbie. Debbie says that she wanted to clear the air. She's a bit put out that Luke let her get so close to him when he knew how she felt about him - and still does. She explains that she honestly believed he felt the same way about her.
Luke insists that he did care about Debbie, but just not the way that she thought. Debbie thinks that they could sort it out in Perth, with just the two of them there and with no-one else to confuse things. Luke apologises for leading her on but says that whilst her friendship means a lot to him...
Debbie cuts him off and says that the bottom line is that Luke was using her to get back with Danni! Luke is upset at this, and Debbie tells him that he's pathetic - Danni only has to click her fingers, and he jumps for her. Debbie warns that she won't be picking up the pieces the next time that Danni dumps him.
DEBBIE: I'm going to have a hell of a time in Perth without you.
Coffee Shop
Billy asks what experience Big Kev has, driving trucks aside.
TOADIE: Well, he has a bit of experience in pubs.
BILLY: As a barman?
TOADIE: No, as a customer!
Hannah bursts in, saying she's got a surprise for them. Billy is very dismissive, but then Hannah holds up a t-shirt with Shockwaves written on it. The boys think it looks fantastic and Hannah explains that she screen printed it in art class.
Hannah reckons that they could sell heaps of them, as half of the kids in Erinsborough would want to wear them. Toadie thinks it's a great plan as they're effectively getting paid for advertising. Billy reminds them that they're trying to keep their identities a secret - if Hannah's making t-shirts, the other kids must know that she's part of the station.
HANNAH: No, they just think I'm a fan. Even if you guys wear them, they'll just think you're fans too.
BILLY: Hey, she's right - let's do it!
TOADIE: Shockwaves is looking bigger all the time!
Hospital
Helen is taking part in the mobility test, trying to fasten some velcro shoes with a walking stick. The occupational therapist - Gerald - reassures her that she's doing well, and Helen comments that it's ridiculous - you end your life in the same way that you start it as a child, by learning to put on shoes.
Gerald congratulates her when she finishes and Helen eagerly asks if she can go home. He tells her that it's not solely up to him - he's part of a team, and everyone has to submit their own report. He asks her to pass him a glass of water, and Helen's a bit put out, reckoning that someone told him about her spilt tea. He assures her that he's just thirsty.
It's a struggle, but Helen manages to get the glass over to him without spilling any. He's pleased. He says he's off to a team meeting shortly, and Helen asks if he'll let her go. He grins and says that they're all on his side. Helen smiles.
Ramsay Street
Hannah thinks that Danni will know where to get some cheap t-shirts from, and she can do all of the printing at school. Toadie warns her not to get caught, and Hannah thinks that they could probably get $5 a t-shirt.
They walk past a tree where their Shockwaves advert is, and someone has stuck a notice over the top - "Come out, come out, whoever you are. To the secret starts of 'SHOCKWAVES'. Phone this number for information to your advantage! 1 800 644 386"
Toadie rips it off and reads it. He's very keen but Billy thinks that it could be someone to check up on them. Toadie has his head in the clouds and thinks that it could be a big time radio station wanting to sign them up! Billy and Hannah aren't keen on phoning, but Toadie thinks they're both always very negative!
TOADIE: I say we call them.
BILLY: I say we don't call them.
TOADIE: All right, Hannah, what do you say?
Hannah looks at her watch.
HANNAH: I say we get on air!
They all sprint off!
Number 30
The prospective tenant turns up - and yes, it's Sarah, who's still not introducing herself to anyone(!) Luke thinks he's seen her before somewhere and she reminds him that it was at Chez Chez. She mentions that she's going into business with Danni. Sarah is keen on the house - she's never before seen somewhere that looks better than the description in the advert.
Toadie, Billy and Hannah burst into the living room and then the boys stop, dumbstruck, at the sight of Sarah. Hannah apologises for bursting in. Luke says that Sarah might be his new housemate. Hannah introduces herself (and Sarah finally says who she is, yay!), whilst the boys stand there with their tongues hanging out!
Sarah and Luke go to look at the other rooms.
SARAH: Do they share too?
LUKE: Definitely not!
Sarah goes through and Luke returns to the teens. He tells them that as he won't be alone any longer, they can't continue with the radio show.
TOADIE: Oh, we can put up with Sarah! That woman is a KNOCKOUT!
Luke says he thought Toadie had noticed! Billy and Hannah beg him to let them do one last show and he agrees to let them start when Sarah leaves. Sarah returns and says she definitely wants to rent.
Number 26
Gerald is visiting Philip to ensure that the house is up to standard for Helen's return. The only thing awry are some stiff taps and Philip promises to get them fixed and says that it's the little things that you don't think of!
Philip guesses that the visit means that things must be looking good for Helen's return and Gerald tells him that she's just about ready. Gerald says that he's also there to see that Philip and his family are prepared.
PHILIP: Why wouldn't we be?
GERALD: Helen's going to place enormous demands on your time and energy. She'll need help in the bathroom, getting up every morning, going to bed at night. For the first few weeks, she's not going to be able to do very much by herself.
Philip lets this sink in.
PHILIP: Well, Helen's always been there for us. Whatever it takes, we'll be there for her.
Gerald says that he needs to liaise with the rest of the team, but Helen should be given the all clear in the next day or so - and she should recover a lot more quickly once she's in familiar surroundings. Philip is stoked, and says that they're all looking forward to having her home, where she belongs.
Ramsay Street
Luke is sweeping his driveway. Danni comes over and says that Sarah's told her that she's moving in. Luke is enthusiastic, reckoning that they hit it off well together. Danni says that she felt the same about Sarah and asks if she can move in too, as she has to get out of Cheryl's.
Luke isn't happy about this idea, because they're still sorting things out. Luke says he can't forget everything that happened and thinks that moving in would be too fast and it'd put too much pressure on them. Danni backs off and goes back to the shop.
Number 30
The teens are packing up the radio equipment. Luke asks if it went ok and Toadie is sulking about having to leave! Luke says that they're lucky he let them broadcast at all because they're probably breaking the law. Toadie dismisses this and Billy says that they're only providing something that the kids want to listen to. Luke reminds them that real radio stations pay a lot of money to be legal.
Sarah comes in and the boys quickly jump up to help her with her cases! She spots the Shockwaves stuff but Billy tells her that they're just moving some stuff out to make more room for her. Sarah tells Luke that they should celebrate her moving in, and suggests Chez Chez in half an hour. Luke thinks that sounds perfect and she leaves. (It's not exactly much notice!)
TOADIE: She actually pays you to live in the same house. Where did you get a deal like that?!
Luke tells them to leave, as he's going to get ready! Billy talks about the leaflet they found earlier and reckons that the number might be the cops after them. Hannah wonders if it might be someone wanting to advertise. Toadie says that there's only one way to find out.
LUKE: GET OUT OF MY HOUSE!
They make a sharp exit!
Chez Chez
Susan comes over with a bottle of bubbly. She's pleased Luke could come out as she wanted to talk about a couple of things without the kids in earshot. She's concerned about the ongoing troubles between Luke and Danni, as she's going to be living with Luke and working with Danni and doesn't want to be caught in the middle.
Luke is pleased she brought it up and explains that they were an item, then something happened which split them up but as of today, they're back together. He thinks it'll take time but Sarah is pleased that he's told her where the land lies. Sarah says that she's flown 13,000 miles to get away from a horrible relationship situation.
Luke says that he's off to stay with a mate for a few days, so she'll have the place to herself at first. They toast to sharing successfully.
Number 28
Toadie is very keen to ring the number but Billy is worried. Hannah warns that they don't have enough money for a licence if they get sprung. Toadie and Billy argue about ringing, but Toadie goes ahead anyway. Hannah tells him not to give out his name, and Billy adds that he mustn't say where he's ringing from!
Toadie makes the call. Hannah drags Billy to one side and moans about what a bad idea it is. Billy points out that at least they can't take them off air because they're already off.
TOADIE: Guys, you are not going to believe this. We are in, mate, we've made it!
Apparently it was Johnny Popgun - the number one underground writer in town. He loves them and wants to do an interview with them. Toadie and Billy are very excited.
Danni's Shop
Sarah comes in close to closing time and apologises. Danni says that she wasn't expecting her back anyway. Sarah says that she can start in the morning and until her stock comes in, she can just help Danni out. They gush about how lucky they are to find each other. Danni is amazed that someone with Sarah's experience is willing to work with her and worries that she might find Erinsborough too small time.
SARAH: I deliberately chose to come and live here.
DANNI: You're kidding? What in England you decided you were going to come and live in Erinsborough?!
SARAH: Mmm. The same as I deliberately chose to live in Ramsay Street. It was just pure luck that Luke's place became available.
DANNI: (confused) All right. Why Ramsay Street?
SARAH: My sister lives in that street.
Danni looks surprised.
DUN DUN DUN!!!
