Recap
Danni telling Luke that she never so much as *touched* Steve - there was never anything between them.
Billy and Toadie deciding to set up their own radio station.
Luke discovering Danni and Steve in the spa together.
Outside No. 22
Danni tells Steve that she has to go and sort this out. Steve points out that it's just Luke unable to control his jealousy. Danni says she wants to stay friends with him, but Steve tells her that if she runs after him now, she'll be chasing him for the rest of her life.
Ramsay Street
As Luke storms back to No. 30, he throws the card he bought for Danni onto the ground. Debbie emerges from No. 26 and watches what's happening. She calls out to him.
No. 30
A short time later, Debbie heads into No. 30 and asks Luke in surprise if Danni didn't *want* the overlocker. Luke shrugs that he thought about what Debbie said: he can sell it to pay the rent. Debbie asks him if he's OK. Luke mutters that he's fine. Debbie, however, presses that something happened at No. 22. Luke pauses and says bitterly:
LUKE: She came over and told me I'd got it all wrong - and I believed her. Again. I was taking the overlocker back as a peace offering.
DEBBIE: And?
LUKE: She was with him in the spa.
DEBBIE (exclaims): Steve?!
LUKE: Yes.
Debbie tells Luke that he doesn't *need* Danni - she's just playing games with him. Luke retorts that he's not going to believe a word Danni says from now on.
No. 24
Jo has turned up at No. 24, where Marlene is wiping- up dishes, and tells her that she wanted them to have a proper goodbye in case things are busy tomorrow. Marlene smiles that when Jo came there, she was looking for her sister and was young and scared, and now she's married to a millionaire and traipsing the world and is happy. Jo gives her a grateful hug.
Holy Roll
Toadie is wiping down the counter. He shows his mother what he's done and tells her that he can run the coffee shop and not have to move. Angie, however, points out that sometimes family has to come first. Toadie tells her that there's school as well - Year 12 is a risky time to move. Angie just mutters at him to shut up about it. She then takes an envelope out of her apron pocket and hands it to Toadie, explaining that it's from his father. He reads the letter inside - and then discovers that there's cash enclosed! As he heads for the shop door, Angie warns him not to waste it. Toadie, however, beams:
TOADIE: I'm spending it on *me*. What better use *is* there?!
No. 24
The next morning, Cheryl is talking on the 'phone to Lou, coolly. She hangs up and Marlene tells her that she handled that very well. Cheryl, however, snaps that she felt like *screaming*: Lou's got himself advisors and lawyers... he's playing on the fact that he knows she's almost broke after buying him out. Changing the subject, she says she feels sorry for Danni after Luke walked in on her and Steve last night: Danni doesn't know whether to put up with him jumping to conclusions like that, or give up on him altogether.
No. 28
Toadie and Billy have a pile of electronics on the table in front of them. Toadie has a soldering iron in his hand and Billy is looking at the instructions and telling him what to put where. Karl joins them and asks what's going on. Billy tells him that Toadie's dad sent him some money and Toadie bought an electronics kit. Toadie adds that they're making a radio. Karl leaves them to it and heads out. When he's gone, Toadie warns Billy that no one must know about what they're *really* doing.
Holy Roll
Danni walks into the Holy Roll and Debbie asks her coolly what she can get for her. Danni asks for a coffee. Luke emerges from the kitchen suddenly and stops in his tracks as he finds Danni standing there. Danni asks for a word in private, but Luke tells her that she can say whatever she wants to say in front of Debbie. Danni shrugs and says:
DANNI: Very well. You know, it's not my fault if you think something's going on with me and Steve, but that is no reason to convince other people of the fact.
LUKE: I just told her what I saw last night.
DANNI: Right - and did you tell her how you ran off before I could even explain anything?
DEBBIE (coldly): What were you going to *explain*?
Danni glares at her and mutters at her and Luke to forget it: there's no way they're going to believe her anyway. She storms out.
No. 28
Toadie and Billy are still putting together their radio equipment. Toadie comments that it's bigger than he thought, and Billy adds that it's going to be hard to keep it secret. Toadie points out that the hundred metres of cable he bought are going to be hard to hide. He frowns thoughtfully.
Old bus
A while later, Toadie and Billy are in the old bus at the allotments. They look out of the window and spot Hannah approaching with Holly. Wanting to put her off the scent, the two of them head out onto the roof and warn Hannah that they'll waterbomb her. Hannah, however, runs towards them and heads into the bus, causing Billy and Toadie to tell her reluctantly about the radio station they're planning. Hannah, however, looks around and says:
HANNAH: Guys, I hate to break it to you, but where are you going to plug it in - like, where are the power points?
Billy glares at Toadie furiously!
Holy Roll
Luke is telling Debbie in the kitchen that he was hoping to see Jo off properly tonight, but he's not going to the party as it's at the opening of Danni's new store. Debbie tells him that Danni will think she's beaten him - but it would do her good to see how well he's doing without her. She then suggests that the two of *them* should get dressed up and see if they can turn some heads.
Danni's shop
Steve pours some ice into a bucket as he asks a glum- looking Danni if she's still upset about this morning. Danni retorts that she hasn't done anything *wrong*. Steve tells her that the way Luke is behaving is really immature - so she needs to show him that she's risen above all this petty sniping and his behaviour's getting him nowhere. The door opens suddenly and Jo comes in. She explains that she's just out looking for a new bag - but she and Rob won't miss the opening tonight for the world. She heads out again and Steve tells Danni that Jo is more excited than she is and it's not even her shop. He adds:
STEVE: You can forget all about Luke and Debbie for a while.
DANNI (declares): Yeah. No, I'm going to have a really good night tonight!
No. 26
Hannah is talking on the 'phone to Casper when Debbie emerges from her room in a little black dress. Hannah hangs up and smiles at her that she's looking really nice. She asks if it's a big date and Debbie tells her that it's Danni's opening - and she's going with Luke. Hannah beams:
HANNAH: So you still love him?!
Debbie tells her that they're very good friends. Hannah, however, replies that you don't dress like Debbie for just friends... There's a knock on the door and Hannah opens it to Luke, who's dressed up as well. The two of them head out, Hannah grinning as they do so that they're not to stay up too late!
Danni's shop
The party is in full swing when Steve interrupts to make a speech and welcome everyone to Danni's new shop. He asks her to say a few words. Danni joins him and says to everyone:
DANNI: Um, thank you for your support, enjoy the evening, and remember it's not just the shop that we're here for tonight, it's also the farewell of Jo and Rob.
Everyone starts chatting again - just as Danni and Steve spot Luke and Debbie walking in. Danni mutters to Steve that they're here to cause trouble, but Steve tells her to meet it head on. Danni joins them and tells them pleasantly to get themselves a drink - it's a party after all. Luke comments to her that she must be really proud of the way things are going. Danni replies that she's a little surprised how fast it's moving. Debbie retorts:
DEBBIE: You always *were* a fast worker...
Luke escorts her away quickly to get a drink. Across the room, Rob and Jo are chatting to Karl when Steve joins them and tries to raise the subject of a business opportunity. Rob, however, tells him that he's not going to talk business at the party.
Holy Roll
A short time later, Steve is sitting with Rob at a table at the Holy Roll, telling him about a plan to convert the shell of an old boot factory into new townhouses. Rob points out curtly that Steve was going to help them build the *skate ramp* at one stage. Steve shrugs that that was a really busy time for him, but this is different. Rob says pointedly:
ROB: Because you stand to make some money out of this?
STEVE: Yeah - we *both* could.
ROB (sighs): I can't tell you how many times I've come across people like you, half- smart operator out to short- change anyone who's not watching where your hands are. You only care about money. You're too stupid to realise that wealth isn't worth caring about - and because of that, you'll never amount to anything. That's why I don't want anything to do with you.
STEVE (chuckles): Come on, Rob, just say what you mean!
ROB: Oh, I haven't finished yet. Now, Danni's a friend of Jo's, so I won't embarrass either of them by telling them what sort of person you really are, but if you even come *close* to short- changing Danni, I will make sure you lose everything you care about. That's not a threat, it's a promise.
With that, Rob gets up to head back to the party, leaving Steve looking stony- faced.
Danni's shop
Jo is making a farewell speech to everyone when Rob comes back into the shop. He's dragged over to join Jo and make his own speech. Steve comes back in and walks over to Luke, saying to him quietly:
STEVE: Typical of you to try and ruin Danni's party.
LUKE: I haven't done *anything*.
STEVE: She doesn't want you here.
LUKE: Well, I'll wait until I hear that from someone with a little more credibility than *you*, thanks.
STEVE: Well, at least Danni's worked out that you're only second best.
LUKE: If she *has*, she's the only one who's got us in that order.
STEVE: We could sort this out once and for all.
LUKE: I think I'd *like* that.
Karl joins them and fills up their glasses with champagne. He then moves on to Cheryl and comments to her that this is like a double celebration: the opening of Danni's shop and his purchase of her house. Cheryl tells him coolly that he *knows* she isn't happy about selling. Karl promises not to gloat anymore. A few feet away, Debbie asks Danni coolly if she's enjoying herself. Danni nods that it's turned out quite well. Debbie nods:
DEBBIE: For *you*.
DANNI (coolly): I'm not going to let you upset me, Debbie.
DEBBIE: I wouldn't *dream* of it. I'm not sure if that's even *possible*. So, I suppose you're feeling pretty proud of yourself about all of this?
DANNI: Yeah. Yeah, I am.
DEBBIE: God only knows why...
DANNI (warns): Leave it, Debbie.
DEBBIE: Personally, I don't know how you do it. I mean, you treat Luke like dirt. What did he ever do to *you*?
DANNI: Nothing.
DEBBIE: Exactly. I suppose it just takes a certain type of person to jump from one boyfriend to another so easily. Is it like a career move kind of thing?
Danni suddenly snaps. She lashes out and slaps Debbie hard round the face. Debbie grins at her in delight as everyone else turns and looks on...
