Recap
Billy suggesting to Toadie that they could take over Marlene's radio show. Toadie saying they need a demo tape.
Steve showing off the new shop to Danni. Danni exclaiming that it's perfect!
Mal telling Shona angrily that she needs to grow up and give him some space.
Holy Roll
Toadie is telling Billy eagerly that if they have their own radio show, they could be legends at school! Billy points out that they still need to finish the demo tape - but all they do is argue about it. He adds that they should call the station manager and put the interview back a bit. Toadie, however, insists that the demo tape isn't that important; you just have to have the attitude. Debbie joins them and asks Toadie testily if there's any chance of him helping her clear some tables. Billy asks her quickly if Toadie can get off early, as they have a big assignment to do. Debbie, however, refuses, telling them that she's got plans tonight and there's no way she's covering for Toadie.
No. 28
Mal is talking on the 'phone, trying to find someone to help him at work. When he hangs up, Susan comments that Darren can't be so sick that he won't be coming back to work. Mal just tells her that, even when he's back on board, they've got a lot of catching- up to do - an extra pair of hands will come in handy. Changing the subject, Susan asks where Shona is. Mal just shrugs that he doesn't know. Susan asks if that means they've had an argument. Mal tells her that Shona wants him to come running every time she whistles. Susan asks if they'll get over it or if it's something more serious. Mal comments:
MAL: It's been building for a while. I really think I should tell her how I feel.
SUSAN: How *do* you feel?
MAL: Well, I think she's nice—
SUSAN (grimaces): Ugh. Not the most *romantic* description of someone I've ever heard!
Mal goes on that whenever he tries to talk to Shona and suggest they should break things off or ease things up, she manages to change his mind at the last minute. Susan says, with a glint in her eye:
SUSAN: How does she manage to do *that*, Malcolm?!
No. 30
Luke walks into No. 30 to find Danni packing up some more stuff to move to her mum's. She tells him that they should talk about the two of them, but Luke says he didn't think there *was* a 'them' anymore. He asks Danni if she's moving into her mum's permanently. Danni tells him that it's just until settlement. Luke mutters:
LUKE: At least *Steve* will know where to find you.
Danni snaps angrily that she and Steve are just friends - and she refuses to feel terrible about it when it's Luke's guilt that caused it all. Luke growls that he'll let her know when he's out next so she can pick up the rest of her stuff without them getting in each other's way.
No. 28
Susan is trying to teach Dahl to talk! There's a knock on the front door and Mal opens it to find Shona standing on the step. She steps inside hesitantly and asks Mal if he's got a moment. She then tells him that she's sorry about the argument they had before - it's all her fault. Susan offers to give them some privacy, and she heads off to the bedroom. Shona goes to kiss Mal, but he tells her that it's talk time. Before he can say any more, though, Shona tells him that she's got some fantastic news: it looks like he and Darren might be in with a chance of the school repairs contract after all: one of her mum's friends is on the school council and was shocked when she heard how McKenna made the decision. Mal exclaims that that's great! Shona asks him what he wanted to talk to her about, but Mal tells her that it's not important! They go to kiss - but at that moment, the front door bursts open and Toadie and Billy walk in and start laughing at them!
No. 30
There's a knock on the front door and Luke opens it to Debbie. She heads inside and Luke tells her about Danni moving out. Debbie says she's sorry, but Luke just shrugs that these things happen.
No. 28
Susan emerges from her bedroom to find Billy on his own. She asks where Mal and Shona went, but Billy shrugs that he doesn't know. At that moment, Toadie bursts in through the front door, beaming at Billy:
TOADIE: Oh mate, I got 'em, but I had to sneak up to the window, 'cos—
BILLY: Shush...
Toadie suddenly notices Susan standing there and she asks him curtly:
SUSAN: Sneak up on *who*?
She takes a tape recorder from behind Toadie's back and listens to a recording of Shona and Mal having a private conversation outside and then kissing. She frowns and then storms out of the house, leaving Toadie and Billy in hysterics. Toadie grins that they're going to be stars! Billy points out that they still need to do a mix of music. Toadie beams that they're cooking - and he's thought of a brilliant name for their show: 'Shockwaves'. Shona and Mal come in with Susan, suddenly, and Shona snaps at Toadie and Billy:
SHONA: You guys are *sick*.
MAL (angrily): Yeah, you're also dead meat.
Susan tells Toadie and Billy that they can go with Mal to take Shona home. Billy points out that Mal wants to kill them, but Toadie reminds him that they've got the tape recorder to record anything Mal says!
Danni's shop
Danni opens the door of the shop to Steve. She lets him in and tells him that Luke has thrown her out of No. 30 permanently. Looking shocked, Steve asks if it could be because of his other problems: his health hasn't been too good lately, and he's got no job. Danni sighs that she hasn't got time for all these hassles. Steve tells her that he'll find her somewhere nice to live - and he'll even help her move out of No. 30.
No. 30
The next morning, Debbie rocks up at No. 30 with the newspaper. She asks Luke when Danni's coming to collect her stuff and Luke replies that it's this afternoon - and Steve's giving her a hand... He goes on that he feels so stupid: Danni never cared about him in the first place. Debbie interrupts and tells him that *Danni* is the loser, not him. She then asks Luke if he's letting Danni take the overlocker. Luke points out that it's no use to *him*. Debbie points out that *he paid* for it, so why doesn't he sell it and get some money to fund the rent for No. 30?
Ramsay Street
Luke is carting boxes out into the street when Mal joins him and asks him if he's moving out. Luke explains that it's Danni who's moving. He adds bitterly that along came Mr. Successful Real Estate Agent and the rest is history. Mal points out that he could be wrong: Danni told *him* point blank that there was nothing going on. Luke asks:
LUKE: When?
MAL: Yesterday.
LUKE (mutters): Well, then, we're *both* suckers for believing her.
Mal tells Luke that Danni's feeling pretty cut- up about him not believing her.
Holy Roll
Angie is back and has rocked up at the coffee shop, giving Debbie a surprise. She takes out a present from her handbag and tells Debbie that it's for taking over the coffee shop at short notice. The present is a teaspoon! Debbie then asks Angie about her trip, but Angie suggests they wait until Jarrod gets there so she can tell them together.
Erinsborough Radio
Toadie and Bill emerge from an office at Erinsborough Radio, Toadie snapping that that woman can't see raw talent when it's sitting right in front of her. As they head down corridors past studios, Toadie snaps at Billy that they need to grab people's attention and make them listen. Billy asks:
BILLY: Then why didn't *she* listen?
TOADIE: Because she's too thick to realise genuine talent.
Holy Roll
A short time later, Billy and Toadie walk into the coffee shop and spot Angie standing there. Toadie hugs his mother and Angie asks him and Billy what they've been up to. They explain about the radio station and how the controller wants someone like Marlene used to be. Angie listens and then tells Toadie *her* news, saying:
ANGIE: How would you feel about all us Rebecchis - you know, your dad included - living together as a family?
TOADIE (gasps happily): You're kidding!
Angie tells him that she and Kev had a big talk and they're sick of living worlds apart, so they thought they'd make some changes. She adds that Kev's looking to invest in a business that's hopefully close enough so that they can move into the house in Ramsay Street - otherwise, they move in with him, wherever that may be. Toadie mutters:
TOADIE: So we'd be leaving Erinsborough?
ANGIE: Maybe.
Toadie looks at Billy in concern.
No. 30
Luke puts on loud music in the lounge room as Danni and Steve walk in and Danni demands to know what he's doing putting her stuff out the front. She turns off the music as Luke replies flatly that he thought it might have been easier for them to shift it. Debbie walks in and Danni stares at her and mutters:
DANNI: I should've known...
She then asks Luke about the overlocker, but he tells her that he's selling it to help cover her share of the rent. Danni retorts that it was a *gift*. Luke tells her that he bought it for her to use, but he doesn't remember actually *giving* it to her. Debbie chips in that it's for sale, if Danni wants to buy it. Danni glares at Luke and warns him that he hasn't heard the last of this. She and Steve storm out. When they've gone, Luke sighs that he should've let Danni keep it - it was petty not to. Debbie, however, insists that he did the right thing.
No. 28
Toadie and Billy are looking on the computer, and Toadie comments that he didn't know there were so many public radio stations on the internet. Billy spots that someone's running their own station from home: they've got frequencies, broadcast times... Toadie comments enthusiastically:
TOADIE: Hey, we could do that, couldn't we?
BILLY: I don't see why not.
TOADIE: We'd be like 'Wayne's World', only on radio. Schwing!
BILLY: You can't leave Erinsborough now - not when we're about to become famous!
No. 30
Luke heads into the lounge room as Danni walks in through the open front door. She joins him and comments that she guesses that's it, then. She adds sadly that she can't believe this is really happening; how did things go so wrong for them? Luke just gives her a look. Danni sighs and says:
DANNI: Look, just for the record, Luke, I never so much as *touched* Steve. There was really never anything between us.
Luke doesn't respond. Danni goes on:
LUKE: I *loved* you. Still do.
With that, she turns and walks out, leaving Luke looking slightly regretful.
Outside No. 22
It's evening- time and Danni is in the spa at the back of No. 22 on her own. Steve comes out suddenly and asks if she minds a visitor. Danni tells him that she's just trying to unwind. Steve has a bottle of champagne and he asks if she minds if he joins her.
Meanwhile, Luke rocks up at the front of the house and knocks on the door, but there's no answer. He's holding a box with a ribbon tied round it, and he has a card in his hand. When no one answers his knock, he walks off.
Round the back of the house, Steve climbs into the spa and hands Danni a glass, smiling:
STEVE: Here's to good friends and to good champagne.
They clink glasses and take a sip. Danni then thanks Steve, saying she wouldn't have got through this without him. Steve tells her that he's more than happy to help. Luke suddenly comes round from the front, calling Danni's name. He stops in his tracks as he finds Danni and Steve in the spa together...
