- Karl tells Cheryl that he's sending her to a podiatrist, and also that she needs to throw away her stilettos.
- Susan has been making Billy smoke cigarettes as punishment, but he ends up having an asthma attack.
Poor Billy continues to cough and Susan becomes alarmed. She encourages him to breathe slowly while she rings Karl. He tells her to get a nebuliser that he's got in his bedroom and give it to Billy.
Brett is ranting that Danni was trying to get Libby's job all along - that's why she persuaded Libby to stay at school. She insists it wasn't like that. It's just that after Libby decided to stay at school she thought she might as well(!)
Mal comes along and Danni tells him about the job, saying she'll explain later.
Outside the Coffee Shop
Jen and Cody are having coffee and Cody is studying. Jen has spent a lot of money on a dress for her date with Phil and Cody thinks they'll make the perfect couple. Apparently Cody and Sam are coming too on a double date. Cody isn't too keen on this but Jen insists that she needs her there!
Cody is going to sell her car to buy a computer - she doesn't want to ask her family for money again.
Lou isn't sure that he should sell Cody's car. Cheryl is mixing up a potion for her arthritis. Lou sips the potion and grimaces.
Karl has arrived now and Billy is taking the nebuliser. He's breathing better now. Karl thinks that he's developed asthma and wants to send him for a chest xray. Billy is cross and says that he's not asthmatic, and it was their fault for making him smoke.
Karl starts sneezing and thinks he's picked up a bug.
Danni tells Mal that she only decided to go for the job after Libby decided to stay at school. Apparently Danni has managed to get on the shortlist.
Phil has bought a new suit for his date. Cheryl, Sam and Lou tease him.
Lou tells Phil that he's heard Suede Tess will be ready to race by the end of the month, and thinks he and Phil should start going to meets.
Susan comes in and sells Cheryl about Billy's asthma attack. She also admires Cheryl's sensible shoes!
Outside the Coffee Shop
Lou sees Karl and tells him he looks terrible. Karl thinks he's coming down with some sort of virus. They chat about Cheryl's feet (how fascinating!). Karl sneezes again.
Jen and Cody arrive home and decide to have a coffee before studying. They talk about Cody's car and she says she might change her mind about selling it.
Billy tells Mal about his asthma attack. Billy thinks Karl is just saying that to avoid admitting fault.
Outside the Coffee Shop
Susan comes to see Karl and tells him to go home to bed. Karl is feeling very guilty about making Billy smoke the cigarettes. He's going to prescribe Billy some medication and hope that he takes it.
Cody tells Lou she's changed her mind about selling her car. However, Lou indicates an empty car parking space and tells her he's just sold it! Cody looks downcast.
Danni is fitting fabric, using Mal as a model(!) Brett comes in and mocks him.
Karl offers Cody an advance on her pages to pay for her computer. She is upset and says he could have made that offer yesterday(!) She stomps off.
KARL: That's gratitude for you, isn't it?!
Cheryl is telling Lou what a crap doctor Karl is for not knowing his own son had asthma(!)
Jen and Phil, Cody and Sam come in on their double date. Cheryl offers them some champagne, but Phil will just have orange juice.
Jen suggests that Cody gets a scooter to replace her car. She likes the idea.
Brett is studying when Lou comes in. He moves a load of stuff off the settee so he can lie down and Danni tells him off for mixing up her stuff. Danni and Brett start bickering.
Phil and Jen are chatting on their own while Cody and Sam play darts. Phil tells her that she's attractive and a genuinely nice person (oo- er!) She is a bit embarrassed, but says that she's glad Phil asked her out.
Danni is sewing and chatting to Lou. Lou asks Danni if she really wants to work at the newspaper when she could be sewing and designing.
LOU: Are you sure you're doing this for the right reasons?
LOU: Look, I don't want to be hard on you, love. But I know you like the sweet smell of success, don't you? Isn't this a case of, if Libby can do it, I can do it, only better?
LOU: Come on, Danni. I understand the competitive streak, I've got it myself.
DANNI: Well, what's wrong with that?
LOU: Nothing, nothing. So long as you don't let it run your life at the expense of other people. And Libby has worked hard on her photography. It's a big thing. How do you think she's going to feel if you just cruise in on a whim and take it away from her, eh?
Danni looks conflicted.
LOU: Well, it's up to you, I suppose. But one thing I've learnt in life, love, some successes are just not worth the price.
Cody and Sam are still playing darts and Phil and Jen are still talking, but conversation is grinding to a halt a bit. Jen says that a couple don't always have to be talking and Phil touches her hand. However they are interrupted by Cody and Sam urging them to play darts with them.
JEN:(to Phil) Never mind, it'll keep.
Phil smiles at her.
