Gemma is surprised when her boyfriend Aidan arrives.
Matt watches on as Aidan gives Gemma a hug. After a quick round of introductions, Matt welcomes him to Ramsay Street. Aidan thanks him and comments that he's planning on sticking around for a while seeing as though Gemma isn't going anywhere.
Jim is upset to see Adam and Caroline kissing in the middle of the road, and heads back inside. Adam points out to Caroline that she needs to tell them what's going on, and they agrees to meet later on. Gemma comes running out the house chasing Matt, trying to get him to stay, but it's too late as he's driven off in the car.
Jim isn't happy about what he's just witnessed and feels like he's being taken for a ride after Caroline told him she'd split up with Adam. Helen points out that maybe he hasn't been seeing things for what they are and that he should give her another chance to explain. At the door, Caroline asks to speak with Jim, but Helen warns her it's not a good time and that he is feeling very hurt by the situation.
Des has popped over to ask Melanie if she can work her magic to try and persuade Paul to give him a farewell party as he leaves in just a few days. Melanie agrees to try her best.
When Jim spots Caroline waiting in his kitchen, she admits has feelings for Adam, but didn't want to hurt him. Jim wonders how long it would've been before she told him, if he hadn't spotted them that morning. She apologises and reminds him of when he went back to Beverly after her. She hopes they can be friends, but he asks her to leave.
After leaving him on his own for half an hour, Aidan admits to Gemma that he feels like he's a bit stuck in the middle of everything going on. She asks how long he's planning on sticking around, he explains how he's quit school as he missed her. Gemma doesn't seem so pleased and starts trying to explain how things have changed for her, but is interrupted by Melanie at the door. Melanie lets slip how Matt is home but in a bad mood, so Gemma rushes off to see him, leaving Melanie and Aidan to talk.
Gemma arrives to find Matt smashing plates, he isn't impressed that Aidan still doesn't know about their relationship, and asks her when she's going to break it off with him. She admits she'd hoped he might break up with her, while staying in Brisbane, but Matt points out that's it's no longer going to work like that and either she has to break it off, or he'll tell Aidan.
Melanie and Aidan are talking about Gemma, Melanie admits they are great friends and they need to be as she lives with Gemma's boyfriend. Aidan is surprised to hear they are going out, and informs Melanie that he has been dating Gemma for two years now. Melanie takes it as a moment to make her escape, leaving Aidan alone.
As Adam and Caroline wait for their client, they sit in the back of the taxi chatting. Caroline explains how Jim hates her, but Adam tries to convince her it can't be all that bad.
Aidan tells Helen how he feels like a fool, and she apologises, but he understands why she didn't say anything. Gemma finally returns with Matt and informs Aidan of her current relationship. Matt too apologises, but Aidan admits that he knew and will probably head back to Brisbane. He asks Gemma if she is happy with Matt, and she says that although they were good friends, she loves Matt. He points out to Matt that he is a very lucky man.
The client arrives to find Adam and Caroline kissing on the back seat. He is not impressed and doesn't want to hear any excuses. He reminds them to keep their private lives to out of hours. Adam quickly starts the car.
Aidan explains that he'll probably head back to Brisbane, but the bus doesn't leave till the morning and he doesn't have anywhere to stay. As Gemma isn't able to host, Matt offers for him to stay the night over at his place.
Caroline arrives having seen Paul. Adam asks how it went, and Caroline isn't too worried as Paul saw the funny side and didn't seem too bothered to be loosing the client. Adam ins't so sure Helen will see it the same way after the error he made the previous week.
While Melanie is busy telling Des about how she put her foot in it with Gemma's relationship earlier, he's more interested to know if Paul will be putting on a leaving party for him. Gemma makes out that she forgot to tell him, and Des looks upset, but as he heads to the bar for another drink, Gemma smiles.
Helen arrives, and is clearly not impressed by the stunt Adam and Caroline pulled. She informs Adam that after his last few mistakes, he has blown his job and is to collect his things; he's fired. Caroline tries to reason with her, but Helen tells her not to bother, and to watch herself.
