Recap
Dorothy Burke is the new resident at No.30. She immediately tells Joe that she wants his fence moved - it's occupying a metre of her land.
Ramsay Street
Joe wants to know why a surveyor hasn't picked up the error before and Kerry asks if she's absolutely sure. Dorothy insists that the land is hers. Joe says she's got a battle on her hands to get it, but Dorothy says she quite enjoys a good fight!
Robinsons
Todd, Melissa and Josh are chatting before school - it's the School Rep elections today. Melissa reckons she'll nominate Todd - she thinks he's be good!
Ewan comes round to pick Beverly up for a round of golf. However, Beverly has to go to the hospital. Beverly volunteers Jim instead and he reluctantly agrees. He isn't pleased with Beverly - he finds it a bit awkward.
Ramsay Street
Joe says that even if Dorothy is right, it's only 1 metre wide. Dorothy says that's not the issue - it's her land. Joe storms off.
Helen explains to Dorothy that the house belongs to Joe's mother and despite his bluster, he's very protective of her property. Dorothy is unmoved.
Mangels
Joe is on the phone to John - Nell Mangel isn't in. Joe is really steamed up and Kerry suggests looking at the surveyor's report themselves - it'll be in the Council Offices.
Golf Course
Ewan and Jim are wheeling their caddies. Ewan apologises for the way he spoke about Beverly at the workshop - he had no idea she was married because her name was listed as "Marshall". He's not in the habit of making moves on happily-married women - their relationship will only be professional. Jim hits his first shot straight on to a tree(!)
Coffee Shop
Josh comes in. Todd isn't happy that Josh has been nominated for the School Council too. Todd thinks Josh is trying to get one up on him. Melissa says it doesn't matter which of them gets it - they've both got the same policies!
Robinsons
Beverly has come home for lunch and finds Helen there. Beverly is still steamed up about Jim being jealous of Ewan.
Golf Course
Jim and Ewan are finishing up their game. Ewan is talking about Beverly's university days. Apparently they used to go bike-riding. Ewan reminsices about how beautiful Beverly was and Jim doesn't say anything. Ewan has never married - he never found anyone who could put up with the long hours he keeps - and besides, no-one ever lives up to one's first love.
Mangels
Joe is pruning his bushes. Dorothy tells him he'd be better of transplanting them. Joe gets mad and says it's his garden. Dorothy smiles and heads off in her car.
Kerry has been to the council office - it IS Dorothy's land and Mrs Mangel has confirmed it to Joe too. But Joe still won't back down.
Coffee Shop
Todd has got on the student council and also a girl called Cody Willis has. Apparently she's quite popular, but Melissa doesn't like her much because she and Todd split up over her once. She doesn't trust Cody.
Mangels
Joe explains that Mrs Mangel spotted the trouble with the fence, so she discussed it with the previous occupants, the Suttons. Apparently, there was never a fence until the No.30 occupants decided to install a pool. The boundary was fenced so the kids didn't fall in it. But the blokes did the fence over a few beers and put the fence three feet one side of the boundary.
Kerry says the Dorothy is therefore entitled to the land, so the fence will have to be moved back. Joe point blank refuses, however.
Coffee Shop
Todd apologises for crowing over Josh about the School Council. Josh says Todd has nothing to worry about - he's got a nice home, family and girlfriend. Todd says he's pretty dumb for freaking out. Josh tells Todd quietly that he's never had a girlfriend.
Robinsons
Jim is playing noisily on the computer while Beverly and Ewan are trying to work. Helen comes in and asks Jim for some help to carry in a few things.
Beverly and Ewan seem to be getting on well. They reminisce about the letters Ewan wrote Beverly when he first went off to London.
BEVERLY: I missed them when they stopped coming.
EWAN: Well, er...I got busy. We all make mistakes, don't we.
BEVERLY: Don't we.
They go back to talking about work, but Ewan watches Beverly wistfully over the rim of his coffee cup.
Coffee Shop
Todd is suggesting girls that Josh could ask out. Melissa comes over and Todd tells her that Josh has never had a girlfriend. He speaks like it's the worst thing in the world(!) Melissa says she knows exactly who Josh should be with - she's the perfect girl for him!
