She storms out, telling him "they're through"!

In the living room, Toby tells Joe that he doesn't want to leave his friends. He's decided that he doesn't want to leave Harold and Lochie and everyone. Joe is also not sure - he's more of a city bloke than a country bloke. He doesn't want to sell his business, but Kerry's heart is set on moving.
JOE: It's a bit different now that you don't want to go. What are we going to tell Kerry? We don't want to hurt her, do we!

Hilary tells Jim that Matt is moving out and blames Jim entirely(!)
HILARY: I've worked so damned hard to build up a relationship with Matthew and now I'm in danger of losing it!
JIM: Yes, yes you are. But that's because you're forcing him to do something he doesn't want to do.
Jim says that Matt can have a career as a motor mechanic - it's quite a good job. He doesn't think that Matt is cut out to be an executive anyway. Jim says he'd rather Matt did finish Year 12, but he wouldn't get anything out of it if his heart wasn't in it. Anyway, Matt has already repeated Year 11 so must feel he's done his time. Hilary starts to soften. Jim says at least Matt will be with family and he'll do everything in his power to get Matt through the apprenticeship.

Todd is moping around and tells Helen that Melissa has been chasing Matt. Helen says Todd should just ring her and apologise - after all, they did go to a lot of trouble to be together in the first place. Todd can't understand why she liked Matt - she told Todd she loved him. Helen says that emotions often swing in the young, but if he gives Melissa another chance they could build up trust again. Todd thinks it just hurts too much when things don't work out.

Matt comes in and Hilary wants to talk to him. She asks him if she's absolutely sure about being an apprentice mechanic - will it make him happy? He says it will.
HILARY: Alright.
MATT: Do you mean that?
HILARY: I can't say I'm happy about it. But I have to accept the fact that it's your life and your decision.
MATT: I never thought I'd hear you say that.
HILARY: Matthew, I only want what's best for you. I know I often ask you to do things you don't want to do, but it's only because I love you, not because I don't.
MATT: You don't use that word very much, do you?
HILARY: What?
MATT: Love.
HILARY: No...I don't suppose I do. But it doesn't mean that I don't feel it. I simply have difficulty expressing what I do feel. I love you, Matthew. Very much.
MATT: I don't use the word much, either. But I love you, Mum.
He kisses her on the cheek and gives her a hug.
