Recap
Harold tells Madge that they've seen so little of each other, he feels like they're separated.
Des considers getting plastic surgery to pin his ears back.
Bishops
Bronwyn asks Harold if Henry rang while she was out, but he hasn't. She isn't pleased. She decides to go over to see Jane.
As she's leaving, Des comes to the door to see Harold about the Coffee Shop. He asks Harold how much he thinks a man's appearance matters to a woman. Harold thinks it matters a lot to be clean and well-dressed. But also a man should look good physically and exercise regularly to facilitate this. Harold says that he has done this and he's quite youthful up against other men of his age(!) Des looks doubtful, but lets this pass! He asks Harold for his opinion about his body and Harold says that Des could be improved a bit!
Mangels
Bronwyn and Jane are eating some of Mary's cake. They chat about Jane's wedding and Jane says that she'd like Bronwyn to be her bridesmaid. Bronwyn is delighted to accept! Bronwyn says that her walking down the aisle in a wedding party might inspire Henry - she wishes that he'd think about settling down. Jane says that she loves Des just as he is - she wouldn't change a single thing.
Clarkes
Mike comes in with some videos for them to watch. He starts telling Jamie about a video he's got for him - Dumbo. He starts describing how Dumbo's ears are huge and how he uses them to fly around. To Mike astonishment, Des takes great offence at this and shouts at Mike for being so insensitive.
Bishops, the following morning
Harold is full of the joys of spring as he prepares to go out power-walking. Madge is cross that Harold forgot to put the rubbish out. Harold says that he's going to open the Coffee Shop early for a "JOggers Breakfast". Madge says she doesn't care as long as he doesn't involve her in it(!)
When Harold has gone, Madge complains that men are very insensitive.
The Park
Harold's walking friend, Robyn, thinks that opening the Coffee Shop early is a great idea. She hopes it will be an enormous success. Harold says that it's nice to be appreciated, even if it isn't in one's own home!
Clarkes
Des apologises to Mike for the misunderstanding they had last night. Mike is still confused and can't understand why Des would think he was talking about him!
When Mike has gone, Des rings up a Mrs Miller, an ex-client at the bank. He enquires whether she had plastic surgery because he noticed that she used to have several chins and then suddenly two disappeared! Oddly enough, she hangs up on him!
DES: Lucky I didn't mention her nose!
The Coffee Shop
Robyn tells Harold that her husband died three years ago and she still misses him. Harold asks if she's thought of marrying again, but Robyn isn't sure she'll meet anyone else. Harold says that it is possible - he met Madge and though he misses Mavis, he has happy memories of her.
Robyn mentions that she loves chamber music but doesn't know anyone who goes now. Harold says that he loves chamber music. Madge doesn't really like it, but she makes the effort to go to concerts with him and has herself done up to "make herself look like a million dollars".
Ramsay Street
Madge is in her dressing gown with wild hair, picking up the newspaper! Jane sees her and comes over to say hello. She asks Jane to get someone to cover her shift on Wednesday because she and Harold are meant to be going to a concert together. Jane says they're very short-staffed at the moment so she can't. Madge says that Harold will just have to go to the concert on his own.
The Coffee Shop
Harold comments that Mike has been in the Coffee Shop a lot recently and asks if the food is the only attraction!
Bronwyn comes in and says she's passed all of her exams. Mike invites her out to dinner tonight. Bronwyn isn't sure what Henry would think of it, so Mike says she could give Henry a call to tell him before they go. Mike says that he only wants to help her celebrate. (Yeah, I bet you do!!)
Clarkes
Des is looking through the Yellow Pages for plastic surgeons(!) Madge drops round for a cuppa and a chat. Des tries to get rid of her and is hypersensitive when she makes a comment about "bending his ear"! When Madge has gone, Des calls the plastic surgeon and says he'd like to make an appointment with a Dr Ross.
Bishops
Bronwyn is trying to get hold of Henry again, but he's out again. She asks Charlene to tell him to call her back. Madge tells her not to worry - Henry loves her very much. She's just off out with Mike. Madge says that she'd like to sit down for a meal as a family again, but their schedules never seem to mesh these days.
Mike calls to pick Bronwyn up looking very smart. They head off to the restaurant leaving Madge to nibble on a peanut butter sandwich!
Outside the Coffee Shop
Robyn comes to see Harold. She gives him a recipe for a muesli mix to us for his Joggers' Breakfast. Harold is very pleased and says she must come in to check that he's got the recipe right. Harold says he doesn't mean to be forward, but asks Robyn if she'd like to come to a chamber music concert with him on Wednesday, since Madge has to work. Robyn accepts, as long as Madge doesn't mind. They bid each other goodnight.
Clarkes
Jane and Des are playing Monopoly. He tells Jane that he has to go away for a few days next week but is vague about the nature of it.
Bishops
Mike and Bronwyn have arrived home. Bronwyn kisses Mike on the cheek, then they start kissing properly. Bronwyn pulls away after a few seconds.
BRONWYN: Don't.
MIKE: Why not? You feel the same way I do, don't you?
BRONWYN: No, I don't.
Bronwyn then admits that maybe she does feel something, but she doesn't know what to do.
