Paul and Gail's
Paul tells Gail that she's flipped her lid but Gail says she's never been more sane. Paul says it's emotional blackmail, but Gail wants him to put them before his career. Gail goes to walk out and Paul gives her his own ultimatum - walk out the door and their marriage is over.
Gloria comes in at that moment. She says she can find her own way home if he and Gail have got a lot to talk about. Paul tells her that would be best and that Gail has changed her mind anyway and will be staying. Gail's eyes widen in disbelief and she walks out of the door with Gloria.
When they've gone, Paul punches the wall in anger.

Robinsons
Jim says he saw Gail's car outside Paul's and is pleased - he thinks they might be making up. He says he'll go over to see how they're doing(!)
Jane comes in to look after Helen. She agrees not to mollycoddle Helen and they have a chat about Mark. Jane says it's on again. Helen says that the fact that they love each other is a good start.

No.30
Sharon and Nick are covering their books ready to go back to school. Nick still doesn't want to go back to school but Sharon says she'll help him. Sharon tells Nick that Mrs Chubb doesn't want her to see Nick at all - she's not convinced that there's no romance going on between them anymore. Nick decides to leave before Mrs Chubb gets back.
When Nick has gone, Sharon plucks a flower from a vase and starts doing "He loves me, he loves me not". But halfway through she throws down the flower and tells it she doesn't care what it says - he does love her. ...She hopes!

Robinsons
Rosemary, Jim and Nick have returned. They fuss over Helen and tell her to take things easy. Helen gets mad and says that she's sick of being smothered by well-meaning friends and relations. Only Jane has shown any respect for her feelings. Helen gets up. She drops her glasses but manages to retrieve them. She tells them she's not completely useless and goes off to bed.

Robinsons, the following morning
Nick and Jim are having breakfast when Helen comes in. She seems to have calmed down a bit. Jim says they've had a brainstorming session about her - and found a compromise. Nick produces Katie's walkie-talkie system and says they'll work anywhere within local range, so Helen can be babysat from a distance. Helen loves the idea and hugs Nick.

The Office
Gail comes in and says she's keeping her business and personal life separate. Paul isn't impressed with this, but Gail says he can fire her if he wants!
Jane comes in and asks a question about conventions. Gail tells Paul she might resign. Jane says she thinks they're crazy - they're going to throw away a good marriage over a business deal. She says she'll be glad to leave herself - it's pretty awful working there at the moment.

The Garage
Rob and Jim are chatting about Paul and Gail's relationship - they are both worried. Rob says the only way to deal with a troublesome woman is to show her who's boss! Gloria comes in at that moment to get some housekeeping money from Jim. Jim invites them round for dinner to think of a solution to the Paul and Gail problem. Gloria says she doesn't know if there is one - Gail was talking divorce on the way home yesterday. Rob gets very annoyed and gets in his car - he's off to "talk sense into Gail". Gloria shouts after him that he'll only maket hings worse.

The Office
Paul is working Jane hard. The phone rings and it's Mark. Rob storms in at and goes into the office. Jane is still on the phone when we hear raised voices inside Paul and Gail's office. Over the noise, Jane and Mark agree to meet up for dinner after work tonight.
Paul marches Rob out of the office and shouts at him to get out. Rob is not impressed.

Lassiter's Lake
Sharon is explaining one of their English set texts (Lord of the Flies) to Nick. Nick's worried about his marks this year. They sits down closely and Sharon tells Nick that Mrs Chubb thinks Nick still likes Sharon - apparently his eyes give him away. They sit closely on the grass and Nick says she'd better look in his eyes to make sure. They touch foreheads.
NICK: What if your aunt was right about me wanting more than friendship? Would you mind?
Sharon shakes her head and they kiss.

Robinsons
Rob is telling Jim, Helen and Gail about what happened at the office. Helen says the best thing is to let them work things out for themselves and not to interfere. Gloria and Rob go off to an appointment and Helen goes into the kitchen.
Helen asks Nick how his first day at school was and he says it was OK. Jim has forgotten to go shopping, so they go off to get takeaway. Nick decides to go with him to get some paintbrushes from the newsagent. This will leave Helen on her own, but she says that the walkie-talkie solution is going well - she and Mrs Chubb used them today.

The Office
Mark comes in looking for Jane, but only Rosemary is there. Jane has gone to a meeting with Paul.
Rosemary says that being in love seems to agree with Mark, but that she didn't imagine him marrying a girl like Jane. She's tells Mark she's happy for them and hugs him, but her face says otherwise.

Robinsons
Helen, Nick and Jim are eating takeaway when the walkie-talkie bleeps. She picks it up exasperatedly thinking it's Mrs Chubb, but it turns out that it's Sharon wanting a quick word with Nick!
Sharon tells him she can't come over because Mrs Chubb has her chained to the books. They fantasise about sneaking out at night to the lake. Nick is talking about going skinny-dipping when Mrs Chubb catches her!

The Office
Rosemary tells Jane that Mark was there earlier. They talk about the wedding plans and Jane says she needed a bit of time to think about things, but she does love Mark and that's all that matters. Jane says she's terrified of Mark's mother and it transpires that Rosemary knows the family. Rosemary says that she once had a close friendship with Mark but the mother put a stop to it. Rosemary suddenly says that marrying Mark is the worst mistake Jane will ever make - Jane will have to move the States, forget her career and Mark won't back her up.
