Recap
Paul tells Jane the cosmetics company are threatening to take her to Court and sue her for megabucks.
In the office
Paul tells Jane the letter is only meant to frighten her at this stage and it would be more hassle for them to take her to Court than it would be for her to go. But, is she sure she doesn't want to pop back over to New York to fill the contract? She is adamant she wants to stay with Nan and her friends. Paul says he'll think of a few ideas - Rosemary is pretty pally with the cosmetics company (handy).
At the Clarkes
Mike and Scott are fussing over the pups. Des reminds Mike they're meant to be out of the house by now. Mike tells him not to worry -
Mike: They're going today. Off to training camp
Des: You sold them to the army??
Scott explains that they're being trained to be companions for old folk. Gives the oldies a reason to get up in the morning or something. Scott asks Des if he's heard Mrs Mangel's story about Bouncer waving? Des thinks Mrs Mangel is off her rocker. Scott and Mike take the box of pups outside, Mike kindly remarking "Say goodbye to your babies Bouncer" before dashing them outside! Bouncer waves them off. Des sees and shouts them back but they don't believe him.
At the office
Paul and Rosemary have saved Jane's bacon. She still has to do the shoots, but can do them in Australia. They want her to do some test shots to approve first, and want Mike to take the pictures (apparently they've seen the Lassiters Girl posters).
At the Clarkes
Malcolm and Eileen are bickering about who should change Jamie's nappy. Des tells Eileen he isn't going to Daphne's dads that night - she'll have him and Malcolm to keep her company. She pretends not to be pleased but is obviously jumping for joy inside. The doorbell goes and Des lets Sally in. She smiles when she sees Eileen fussing over Malcolm's leg.
At the Mangel's
Mike is protesting that he isn't up to taking the shots but easily allows Jane to talk him into it. Now all they need is a male model to star in the photos with her. Scott offers his services, modestly pointing out that he's a typical bronzed Aussie type. Jane thinks it's a great idea but Mike reminds them about Charlene. Scott says she won't mind, she wants Jane to stay as much as the rest of them. Besides, he's obviously keen to get in front of the camera:
Scott: When those people in New York see me it'll be watch out Crocodile Dundee
Mike: Yeah, they'll probably think that you're the croc.
At the Clarkes
Malcolm and Sally are chatting and he says it's nice having a family around, even a surprise package like her. Sally goes to help clear up, thanking Eileen for the lovely tea. Eileen says it was nothing, just cottage pie. Sally tells her she loves cottage pie, in fact her mum makes a great one. Eileen is put out and touchily says she supposes it's better than hers, before storming off to bed. Looks like Sally's back to square one.
At the office
Scott, Mike and Jane arrive to ask Paul if they can borrow his camera. He protests for a while but then gives in.
At the beach
Scott, Mike and Jane have brought along half a surf shop to brighten up the shoot. Mike quickly gets into slave driver mode and Scott whinges that "Charlene thought she was missing out on all the fun!". They get to work on the worst photo's I've seen in my life and it looks like Jane might be on her way to America after all, but Mike seems pleased with the shots. He thinks now is a great time to ask Jane out on a date but she turns him down.
Mike: Oh. Are you going out with that old guy again?
Jane: If you mean Glen then yes, and he's not that old.
Mike: Well he's not that young either!
Scott comes back with some oars and tells them to get back to taking pretty pictures. After all, without pretty pictures how will they discover him in New York?
At the Clarkes
Eileen has obviously been in Des's ear about Malcolm but he's refusing to throw him out. She says in that case she will leave and Mike can take over the nursing duties. He leaves. Malcolm limps into the living room and Eileen tells him his arthritis is divine retribution for the pain he's caused her. She tells him she's moving out. He says no, he'll leave instead. As he's walking out he casually remarks that Sally was wrong about her mother's shepherds pie - it isn't a patch on hers, too many onions. This does the trick and she tells him to sit back down, he can't leave in that condition, what would the neighbours say?
At the beach
Scott and Jane are posing with some of the boat's gear. Mike tells them he thinks they should take the boat out to sea for a bit. Scott runs off to pull up anchor leaving Jane and Mike to row about her seeing Glen again.
Out at sea
Mike is getting all arty with his camera and Jane is fed up. Scott shouts at them to stop arguing and they shut up - as does the boat. This tops the day off nicely for Mike, he's thrilled that now they'll have to paddle back to shore. Oh no they won't - Scott quickly points out that they used the oars when they were posing on the beach and they've left them behind.
At the coffee shop
Paul tells Sally Henry must be pleased she's sticking around. She says Henry was getting too serious. Paul doesn't believe Henry could ever be called serious and tells her he'll bounce back quickly enough. Des comes in and Sally asks if he minds her sticking her around, but he's thrilled.
Out at sea
Scott tries to cheer up camp by insisting a boat has to come along sooner or later. In fact, here's one now! They stand up and wave at it but the boat doesn't see them. Jane starts to panic.
At the Clarkes
Malcolm and Eileen are discussing old times. He brings up some happy memories and she asks in confusion "Then why did you leave me?" He reminds her that after Des was born she wouldn't let him anywhere near her. She asks if that's why he went running after "that woman"? He says he didn't leave for another woman, their marriage was bad already. She'd changed, and tried to change him too. She cries and says she didn't mean to make him unhappy. He should have told her at the time.
Out at sea
Scott tells the others he doesn't think a boat will come along, he's going to swim for help. Jane protests, they can't even see the coast anymore. Plus, there could be sharks or anything out there. Scott won't listen to her - he won the Ramsay Street Olympic Swimming race remember? (Of course! Five strokes from one end to the other. Swimming ashore will be a breeze!) They try to stop him but he dives over the side of the boat and swims off.
