On the street
Henry says Sally can't just leave - what about her job at the coffee shop? She says she only took it to get to know Des and now he'd be better off without her. Henry tries to take the blame himself but she isn't convinced. He tries to talk her into staying by saying they can still find her dad but she disagrees. Des comes out and Henry tries to enlist his help but he refuses. Eileen's on her way to Mrs Mangel's and he wants to intercept her. He encourages Henry to keep working on her but Henry is too down.

At the Ramsays
Scott is supposed to be studying but would rather be kissing Charlene. She tells him he can have no more kisses until he's finished his revision. He reluctantly agrees because he doesn't think their child would think much of having a high school drop out as a parent. Charlene looks at him and he worriedly checks that she still feels like being a parent. She answers that she wouldn't let "that bird brain brother of mine" put her off, but without much conviction.

At Paul and Gail's
Jim invites Paul to go fishing with him and Lucy. He agrees and tells Lucy to make coffee while he gets his stuff together, he has lovely chocolate éclairs to go with the coffee. Before he can go the phone rings - it's Gail, she's on her way home 2 days early. He is pleased and says he'll come and meet her but she insists on getting a taxi. Paul hangs up and rushes around tidying, he can't go fishing anymore. Lucy checks that they can still have the éclairs!

On a street somewhere
Nell and Eileen are coming home from church and bickering about Revd Sampson. Des is waiting with Jamie and Eileen sends Nell on ahead. She refuses to talk to him but wants to see Jamie. He tries to explain what was happening but it's no good. She doesn't want to make friends but bends down to see Jamie - she is concerned about how red his cheeks are and tells him to take him home, she has nothing more to say to him.

On Ramsay Street
Mike is tinkering with his bike while Mrs Mangel questions him about what Des has done. He says Des would never hurt Eileen on purpose. She asks whether Mike will be talking to Jane - she wants reassurance about Jane leading the "fast life" out in America. Mike says it won't go to her head. Eileen walks up and says she cannot forgive Desmond and will only see him when she sees Jamie.

At the Clarkes
Sally is all packed. Henry tries again to get her to stay but she won't change her mind. She asks Des to drive her to the depot. Henry asks if he can but she says it's easier if Des does. Henry says in that case at least let him help with Jamie - he'll take him to Charlene to let her practise.

At the Ramsays
Seemingly over her earlier wobble Charlene is all excited about having a baby and asks Scott who he thinks the baby would look like - and what if they had twins?! He tells her to give him a break, he's trying to study. Henry comes in with Jamie moaning about Sally leaving. Charlene ignores him and goes straight to the baby, asking why his cheeks are all red. She fusses over Jamie and Scott tells her to give him some peace and quiet so she takes him into the bedroom leaving Scott with Henry's dreaming - "When Sally smiles, I feel like I could just melt..." Scott looks at him in disbelief!

Outside
Paul drives up with a huge bunch of flowers for Gail. He tells Mike he is trying to pretty the place up. Mike smiles and says he's off to the beach to meet Jane. Paul asks if he's had much time to talk with Jane - he wants to know if she's said anything about Gail, she seemed a bit uptight when she rang. He tells Mike not to worry, he'll ask her himself when she gets back.

At the Ramsays
Jamie is crying .Charlene is worrying. Scott is stressing. Henry is secretly delighted that at least one of his plans has gone right today. Scott storms out of the kitchen telling Charlene he doesn't care what she does with Jamie as long as she shuts him up! Henry comes to the rescue and helps Charlene settle Jamie in the pram, pointing out that Scott doesn't look like an ideal candidate for father of the year. "Think about it Lennie, are you really ready to start your own family?"

Outside
Scott is fishing leaves out of the pond with a long scooper. Charlene tells him Jamie fell fast asleep on the way home and is now good as gold. Scott apologises for losing his cool and says babies are a bit of a worry. Charlene thinks maybe it won't be so bad with their own but he asks "are you kidding?". Charlene asks if he's sure he wants to go ahead with all this and he answers no. He explains that he made a mistake and it's the wrong time to start a family - they'd go into debt and she'd have to give up her apprenticeship. She cuts him off, saying "Relax, I agree with you." Scott is surprised but pleased. They agree they want to have kids one day but not now and Scott says he only suggested it as a way of keeping them together because he hated being apart from her. She says a baby isn't a cure for failing marriages. Scott hugs her and says he never thought of their marriage like that. She agrees then sends him off to study. He presses for a kiss first, then asks if he can have lunch. Charlene - "Men! Who needs babies?"

At the Clarkes
Beverly arrives to check on Jamie. She thinks he is just teething. Des says he was unsure whether to ask her to come over because of Jim. She assures him that she isn't going to strike Ramsay Street off her list just because Jim Robinson lives there.

At Paul and Gails
Lucy and Jim are showing off the fish they caught. Paul reckons they just bought them. Lucy says the house looks nice and Paul says yes, he just has his bedroom left to do. Eagle eared Lucy questions "Your bedroom?" Paul thinks on his feet and says he's been stuck in it for the last fortnight. Jim says he's off to take some fish to Des and leaves. Lucy points out that he'd seen Beverly's car outside and that Jim's going fishing again...

At the Clarkes
Des lets Jim in who says hello to Beverly awkwardly. She says she was just leaving and he asks if they can have a quick word. Des goes to put the fish away. Beverly tells Jim she's made her choice and she doesn't want to hurt his feelings anymore. Jim - "Who said I was gonna let you?" He asks her to go to his house that night, just for a few minutes. She agrees.

At Paul and Gails
Paul asks Jim if he reckons there's any chance of Beverly giving Stephen the flick? Jim says he loves her and hopes so. Paul says he must tell her - people should say how they're feeling (pot, kettle, black anyone?). Gail comes home and Jim makes a quick exit. Paul is pleased to see Gail and asks her to sit down, there are things he has to say to her. She pulls away and says there are things she has to say to him too - She's sick of their marriage of convenience and can't go on living a lie. She wants to get a divorce, straight away.
