Recap
Paul tells Helen that she's being unfair to Laura.
Robinsons
Paul says that Laura was just trying to protect Helen. He says it's just bitterness on Helen's part and she shouldn't have asked Laura to leave. Jim asks Paul to leave, but Helen tells him to stay. Helen says Paul is right - she's behaved appallingly towards her sister and she'll put it right first thing in the morning.
Clarkes
Mike is working on the cricket team lineup. Des says that he will personally lead the Ramsays to victory(!)
Daphne has been on the phone to an old friend - Philip Nolan. Apparently he's in the area for a couple of days so Daphne has invited him to stay with them. Mike asks if he can play cricket(!) He puts him on his cricket list even though Mike has never met him!
Nikki calls round and Mike tells her the lineup for the cricket team. Nikki wishes she could talk Laura out of playing - she thinks Laura is trying to prove something.
Outside Lassiters
Laura and Nikki are jogging. Laura is having trouble keeping up but she insists she wants to keep physically active. Nikki says she doesn't want Laura to get any worse, but Laura says she won't get any better whatever happens.
Mrs Mangel comes up and asks why Laura and Nikki are staying at Lassiters. Laura says they shouldn't really be talking to the umpire on the day of the match. Mrs Mangel says she's right and quickly leaves.
LAURA: That woman would pry the lid of a coffin!
Helen comes up and apologises to Laura. They hug. Laura says she's got so much to explain to Helen.
Ramsays
Shane is working on their cricket team lineup. Shane says they need to work on topics. FOr example, when Scott is batting, Charlene should stand in his eyeline and take off all her clothes!
Ray calls round with his son Warren. They are dressed in cricket gear.
Outside Lassiters
Laura is explaining that Grace threw herself at Bill. Apparently Bill felt quite awful and told Grace that Helen was the only woman he'd even loved - that's why Grace left for London. Laura says she shouldn't be angry at Bill - that was the only time he ever strayed. Laura says she didn't want to hurt Helen by telling her because she had Bill up on a pedestal. Helen says everything Laura has said has made sense, and in a way she's glad she's found out about it. It's made her evaluate some things in her life - she's emotionally stagnant for example. She tels Laura that she's decided to go and see Rosemary in the USA and shake off a few cobwebs. Helen suddenly asks if Laura will come too - but Laura says she wants to be here for Nikki's exams. Helen invites Laura to come back to stay at the house.
Robinsons
Scott is discussing tactics with the school cricket champion who he's managed to draft on to his team!
Clarkes
Phil Nolan has arrived and Daphne introduces him to Des, Mike and Jane. Jane and Mike go off to check that Mrs Mangel hasn't interfered with the pitch(!)
Des isn't particularly pleased to see Phil - and this gets worse when Phil says his cricketing average last year was 65!
The Park
Mrs Mangel is putting the bails on the stumps while all the Ramsay Streeters set up deckchair. Jane and Mike have a bit of a pash and Mrs Mangel shouts at her. Before the game can start, Basil steals the ball!
Mrs Mangel gets the team captains together to do the toss. Shane wins and elects to bat. He runs off with Mrs Mangel's coin!
Des goes in to bat with Shane. They play for a bit. Just as Des is about to bat, Daphhe shouts and distracts him, so he is bowled out. He isn't pleased.
Phil goes in to bat and instantly scores a six! Des is not pleased.
(Later)
Ruth tells Jim at half time that Helen has said she can move in while she is away. Jim is delighted.
Phil has scored 91 runs which doesn't go down at all well with Des. He's clearly jealous of Phil, but Daphne says he's got no reason to be.
The second half starts and the school champion and Jim are in to bat. Mrs Mangel is very hard on Mike's bowling technique!
Still later, Paul and the school champion are batting. Nikki is hoping that Laura won't have to bat at all. Just then, Paul is bowled out. A few minutes later, Nikki is bowled out.
Laura takes the bat. She hits the ball away and Basil the dog takes the ball away enabling Laura to run lots of times. She's clearly feeling the physical pressure though. Unfortunately, she is caught out on the next ball.
Ramsays
The post-match socialising is going on. Mrs Mangel announces that even though the Ramsays won, Ray is still donating $200, so that's $400 for the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
PAUL: I'd like to propose a toast to the Ramsay team, even though they cheated by bringing in Philip Nolan!
Daphne says that Phil did them proud and they all start singing, "For he's a jolly good fellow". Des is not pleased.
