Recap
- Terry is pregnant.
- Paul and Shane are fighting.
- Paul wants to take Terry away for a few days for a second honeymoon.
- Jim signs the papers for Douglas and Helen's cottage.
Ramsay Street, in the morning
Danny and Shane are running. Danny is fed up that Jim was a bit frosty with Shane. He says Jim shouldn't believe Terry - she's only been family for five minutes.
Clarkes
Sarah is in her usual cheery mood(!) and is getting on Des's nerves. Sarah bangs on about Daphne - apparently her bed hasn't been slept in. Des wonders where Daphne is and insists that Daphne hasn't gone back to stripping. He tells Sarah to mind her own business.
Ramsays
Max is cooking kedgeree for breakfast.
DANNY: It's my life and I'm not going to shorten it by eating that stuff!
Shane comes in and feels the same.
MAX: It's kedgeree, a la Ramsay!
SHANE: Looks like it, too.
Max wants to know why everyone is in a bad mood and Danny explains about Terry lying to the Robinsons about Shane. Max says it's not like Jim to believe stories. He thinks it's more jealousy on Paul's part than Terry lying though.
Clarkes
Daphne comes in looking fed up and Des asks where she's been. Des says he and Sarah were very worried about her. She doesn't say anything and goes off to her room.
Ramsays
Max asks Shane why he isn't fighting to clear his name with the Robinsons. Shane says he'll handle it his way. Max has burnt the kedgeree, but Shane eats it anyway. Over breakfast, Shane says that Paul has always believed what he wants to. Max says he's had a gutful of the Robinsons.
Robinsons
Max comes round to tell Jim to sort things out. He says Paul is spreading stories about Shane. Jim says that Shane plays around and Paul accepts Terry's story - he has to go along with that. Max says that Paul started this and Jim went along with it. He doesn't want anything more to do with the Robinsons until they apologise. Jim says the feeling is mutual.
Clarkes
Shane comes round to see Daphne. Apparently Daphne's grandfather told him that she had a problem. Daphne says that she's had an argument with Des - she spent last night with a girlfriend who was suicidal, but Des thinks she's gone back to stripping. The friend who was suicidal has given Daphne her gun, and now Daphne has to keep it safe.
Shane asks what he should do about Paul and Terry. Daphne advises him to lie low until it blows over.
When Shane has gone, Daphne picks up the gun and wonders what to do with it.
No.30
Barbara, accomplice of Mad Charles has arrived. She knocks the door, but no-one is home. She jogs out on to Ramsay Street when she sees Shane. Shane tells her that Terry and Paul have gone away for a few days.
The Bank
Sarah is bossing Danny about at the bank and he accuses her of trying to suck up to Des so she'll get on the magazine cover!
Des tells Fiona he's very pleased with her work lately. Sarah starts banging on about having more supervised tea-breaks and having a tidier place. Des rolls his eyes.
Max comes in and Danny serves him. He looks a bit fed up and explains to Danny that he's had a row with Jim. Sarah comes over and sticks her nose in.
SARAH: Terry's problem is very simple. She just keeps forgetting that she's married to Paul.
Max sees red at this and shouts at Sarah to mind her own business.
Des calls Sarah and Fiona over and tells them that he's fed up with their posturing - he's already made his recommendation for cover girl, so their nonsense won't change a thing.
Coffee Shop
Max is meeting Kate Drew for coffee. He's very upset about Paul accusing Shane of getting of with his missus. Kate advises him to stay out of it - to trust Shane to sort out his own problems. (Did she just call him "honey"?!)
The Bank
Sarah is late back from her interview for the cover girl. Just then, the judges come out and announce that Sarah is the winner. Danny and Fiona are dumbstruck.
DANNY: How on earth did SHE get it?
Coffee Shop
Danny is fed up. Fiona isn't talking to him much. Harry advises him to play things cool(!)
Daphne is clearing the tables and tells Harry she's not in a rush to get home. It's not Sarah - she can handle her, but she doesn't know what to say for Des.
Clarkes
Daphne has left dinner in the oven for Des (aw) but Sarah isn't impressed. What a silly cow she is.
Harry comes round and tells Des that Daphne was out seeing a suicidal friend last night.
HARRY: For someone who claims to be her best friend, you've treated her very badly.
Des closes his eyes in pain.
Clarkes, the following morning
Daphne congratulates Sarah on being the cover girl for the bank newsletter. Sarah says she's decided to hold a fund-raising party for charity. She asks Daphne to help out.
Des comes in.
DES: Morning, all. I had a terrible night.
DAPHNE: Good.
Des compliments Daphne on her jumper, but she's not impressed saying she's had it for two years!
Sarah starts banging on about lipstick, oblivious to the tension between Des and Daphne. She keeps interrupting them when Des is trying to apologise!
The Bank
Danny is telling Fiona that she should have won the contest. Fiona says that every suggest Danny made was wrong. Also, she's upset about the band stuff. Danny says he's forming a new band, and he was going to ask Sarah to front it by being lead singer.
Sarah is trying to recruit people to come to her fund-raising party. Des is fed up and decides to go out for a while.
Coffee Shop
Barbara is looking for Terry. She tells Daphne that things are working out for her and wants to see Terry again before she goes Interstate. Daphne tells her that Terry will be back, and in the coffee shop, around 4pm
Phone Booth
Barbara tells Charles that Terry is coming back today.
Coffee Shop
Harry asks Daphne how things are with Des. Daphne says things are much the same - she's fed up with both him and Sarah.
Des comes in at that moment to apologise for what he said to her yesterday. He says that it's none of his business what Daphne does. Daphne accepts his apology and says she was grumpy herself. She hugs him.
Des shows Daphne a postcard from Eileen which reads. "George's snoring is alright once you get used to it. Love, Mum" (!)
Ramsay Street
Max comes to speak to Shane who's just off to work. He says that he's going to leave Shane to work out his own affairs. Shane is gobsmacked and Max says that someone has set him straight. Shane is pleased.
A road
Barbara and a dodgy-looking man are talking.
DODGY-LOOKING MAN: How will I know her?
BARBARA: You'll know.
DODGY-LOOKING MAN: Just say the word.
Coffee Shop
Daphne is much happier and is clearing the tables. Apparently Terry has rung and she's been delayed. Harry tells Daphne that rain is forecast, so he lends her a coat out of lost property.
A road
The dodgy-looking man is waiting in his car while scary music plays. Barbara is loitering nervously outside on the street. Daphne comes along the street and Barbara sees her - but only from the back and from some distance away. She nods at the dodgy-looking man.
The dodgy-looking man drives fast towards Daphne. She turns as she hears the car approach and looks terrified.
