Recap
- Max tells Maria they should separate. Maria says she wants a divorce.
- Paul and Des are worried about Julie's relationship with Phil.
- Julie has dinner at Phil's place. At the end of the evening, she tells him she doesn't want to go home.
Phil's flat
Phil suggests they sit down and have a bit of a chat. He tells Julie that he does want her to stay, but he's concerned that Julie just feels sorry for him. Julie is confused and says she doesn't feel sorry for him - she trusts his sincerity. Phil says he can't let her stay - he's still married. Julie gets a bit upset and says that she's made a fool of herself. Phil says she hasn't.
Robinsons
Helen is telling Jim that Maria has had a row with Max at the restaurant. Now Maria is hellbent on a divorce. Jim thinks both Max and Maria are acting like fools. Helen thinks Max lets his pride get in the way. She doesn't think there's anything Max can do to save his marriage, but Jim thinks Helen is being a bit unfair.
Julie comes in looking a bit upset and goes straight to bed.
Ramsays
Shane comes in and finds Danny asleep on the couch. Danny wakes up and says he was just dozing - Maria wants a word with them both.
Maria comes out in her dressing-gown (it's nearly midnight) and tells them that she and Max are going to get a divorce. Danny is quite pleased, but Shane is gutted. Danny says they're better off - it's peaceful without Max. Shane said he'd hoped they'd get back together. He stalks off to bed.
Ramsays, the following morning
Danny moans at Shane for tossing and turning all night. Shane tells Danny not to blame Max too much for the divorce - he doesn't know all the facts. Shane reminds Danny that Maria could marry and do worse than Max, too.
Robinsons
Julie is rather subdued at the breakfast table. Lucy is asking about how long divorces take (she's been stickybeaking!).
The Bank
Phil asks Des if he's seen Julie this morning and to send her in when she arrives. A few minutes later, Julie does arrive and Des sends her in to Phil's office.
Manager's Office
Phil and Julie greet each other awkwardly. Phil says the things he said last night didn't quite come out properly. Julie says she understood what he was saying and she appreciated it. She threw herself at him and she won't do it again. Phil says it wasn't a mistake - he asks her to meet him after work to discuss things. Julie says she's decided to leave the bank, but Phil won't hear of it. They hug.
There's a knock at the door, and he and Julie break apart in time for Des coming in. He looks a bit suspicious though. He tells Phil that two blokes from Head Office have arrived.
Later at the Bank
Des offers Julie a lift home, but she doesn't want one. Des tells her that he cares enough about Julie to try to stop her making a fool of herself.
Ramsay Street
Danny comes to meet Shane - he wants a word about the money he owes Shane. Danny owes Shane $254 dollars from over the last four years. He asks Shane to make it $300! He wants to take Wendy out to a nice restaurant. Shane says it's tough luck, but gives him $10 and tells him to take Wendy out for a pizza. Danny is not impressed!
Des drives up and Shane asks him to tell Terry he'll pick her up at 7pm.
Des's
Daphne is on the phone to Frank refusing a job - she says she's only doing the more "respectable" gigs now. Des comes in in a rotten mood. Daphne says she's worried about him - she thinks he's stagnating, and needs a woman in his life. Des says he's sick of women standing him up. Daphne says it's just pride, but Des tells her to butt out. He accuses Daphne of being jealous over Shane and Terry. She says she isn't, but Des thinks she's protesting too much. Daphne tells Des to lift his game or he'll become a lonely old bachelor!
Ramsay Street, the following morning
Shane comes back from jogging and apologises for waking Des up when he and Terry got home late. Des is in a bad mood. Paul comes over and tells Des that Julie has already left for work. Des tells Paul that Julie is being very silly over Phil. He thinks she's fallen for Phil like a ton of bricks.
Robinsons
Helen is just off out while Jim catches up on his paperwork. Paul tells Jim that he's worried about Julie - he doesn't know the full story, but apparently Julie is making a fool of herself over a married man at work. Jim is surprised - he thought Julie had more sense. Paul says Julie has fallen for Phil hook, link and sinker. Jim wonders what to do.
Des's
Shane calls round, but only Daphne is there. She offers him a coffee. Shane enquires after Terry, but apparently she didn't sleep in. He also asks why Des is in a mood. Daphne says she and Des had an argument last night.
SHANE: Now that I think of it, you and Des would make a great couple.
DAPHNE: Shane, do me a favour and let me decide the guy I'll marry, will you?
Shane says that whoever Daphne marries, the guy will be very lucky. Daphne isn't very impressed with this. She's even less impressed when Shane informs her he's taking Terry out again tonight.
Robinsons
Jim is still wondering what to do about Julie. He picks up the phone and dials.
Manager's office
Jim has given Phil a ring. He asks him to meet later today for a chat. Phil agrees and arranges to meet Jim at 2pm.
