Lassiter's Complex
Vic is walking round the courtyard in a bit of a daze following his shock news. Jane, Nicolette and Byron approach; Jane still looks awkward to be around Vic, while Byron and Nic are still super- excited about the vineyard investment and have been discussing ideas to run by Leo. Jane tries to make a diplomatic exit, but Byron and Nic are keen to get a selfie with all four of them, so she reluctantly stays for that.
Both Vic and Jane look awkward in the selfie. Jane gets a message from Harold so prepares to rush off to see what he wants. But before she goes, Nicolette insists they arrange a big celebration breakfast for the whole family tomorrow. Vic seems a bit unnerved by this prospect, but says he's up for it; he just needs his beauty sleep tonight as it's been a big day.
No 22
JJ has bought Nell a gift voucher as a thank you for standing up for him last week when he was accused of the Eirini Rising thefts.
NELL: You really didn't have to get me anything.
Terese comes in with washing, and tells Nell and Hugo that they all need to tidy up a bit, as Toadie will be back from Colac soon. JJ offers to stay and lend a hand, and Terese directs him to go and stack the dishwasher. But at that moment, Toadie arrives. He hugs Terese and the kids, but JJ feels awkward and decides it's best that he heads home. Toadie doesn't object!
Toadie asks Nell and Hugo to take his bags upstairs, and they comply. He seemingly wants to raise JJ's presence in the house with Terese.
TERESE: They're just friends. And I must say, he's been a great residents' assistant.
TOADIE: Hey, come on, you're paying him. It's not exactly an endorsement to his character, is it?
TERESE: Jasmine was an angel, and now she's a devil. You can't pick these things.
TOADIE: I don't think he's a bad kid. I just don't want him dating my daughter.
TERESE: Oh, really? I had no idea (!)
No 24
Nicolette asks Jane what Harold wanted to see her about. Jane explains Harold's bought a new camper van and is looking for somewhere to moor it!
NICOLETTE: Are we taking it?
JANE: Well, it was no trouble having Clive's here!
Nicolette tells Jane that the family breakfast is arranged for 9am at the Waterhole tomorrow. Jane claims she doesn't need to be there, evidently still feeling awkward around Vic following the kiss.
JANE: This is your moment, with your father... so, no, I won't intrude.
NICOLETTE: Mum! As if Byron and Dad wouldn't want you there. Do you have a call with Mike?
JANE: No.
NICOLETTE: Then just come for a bit. It's not gonna be the same without you.
JANE: Well, if I can... then I might.
Jane scurries off out for a walk, and tells Nic not to wait up. Nic looks suspicious.
Harold's Café
Jane comes in and smiles at Remi and Dex, who are at a table. JJ is on his phone by the counter, talking to Harold - they're talking about downloading some software onto JJ's computer so he can record Harold's tuba solo! JJ says he can't wait; Jane smiles at this sweet intergenerational friendship, and looks thoughtful.
In another part of the café, Logan is sitting alone and on his phone, creepily looking at pictures of David and Aaron - but especially David.
Nell and Hugo come in to get some dessert, and are greeted by Remi who suggests they join her, Dex and JJ. Dex looks pleased about this, and JJ shifts over somewhat awkwardly, but also seems pleased to see Nell. They smile at one another.
NELL: I was tossing up what to use your gift voucher for. I was thinking a movie?
DEX: There's lots of new stuff coming out.
Nell looks like she was directing the question at JJ rather than Dex - but JJ avoids getting involved, shuffling away to get some menus. At the counter, Haz remarks to JJ that things look pretty good between him and Nell.
JJ: Look a bit closer.
Dex is trying to woo Nell with suggestions of the new DC film that's out on Thursday. Nell admits she wouldn't mind seeing that.
NELL: But I can't just bring one friend and not bring the others. I'll have to think of something else.
Dex pipes down again. Remi wonders why Nell and Hugo aren't having dinner with Toadie as it's his first night back. Nell says they did, but indicates that they were given money to go and get dessert so that he and Terese could have some couple time.
REMI: That sounds like a bribe.
NELL: That sounds like free dessert.
REMI: Ah. Touché.
Dex continues to make eyes at Nell. JJ looks uncomfortable.
No 22
Terese has a tub of ice cream out, and she and Toadie have changed into their matching maroon trackie bottoms for some relaxation time.
TERESE: You know, I've missed this.
TOADIE: Yeah, me too.
TERESE: And I've missed us.
TOADIE: It feels so good to hear you say that... Does this mean that we're back on track?
TERESE: Yeah. Yeah, I think I'm ready to move on.
They kiss.
TERESE: What are you thinking about?
TOADIE: I think that it might be time to make things official. I think it's time that you got your fish name.
It doesn't look as if this is what Terese was hoping Toadie was thinking about!
Lassiter's Park
The next day, Logan and Melanie are hard at work in the Drinks Divas van when Aaron jogs up for his 'usual'. Conversation between Aaron and Logan moves swiftly from juice to cocktails, as Logan admits he's not great at making them as he's always been a beer guy. But Aaron says cocktails just take practice, and Melanie agrees.
Logan has an idea, and invites himself over to Aaron's place for a cocktail- making lesson from a pro. There's no time like the present in Neighbours, so Aaron asks if Mel can spare Logan for an hour. She says she'll manage, and Logan looks pleased.
Lassiter's Complex
Vic is doing some sums on a napkin; it seems as if he's trying to work out how far his accrued wealth will go now that he's not dying after all. His conclusion - 'Blast!' - suggests not as far as he'd like! Byron and Nicolette appear, so Vic stuffs the napkin into a pocket. They're talking about Byron having traded in his old car for a better one, since they'll now need to drive to Yorokobi all the time. Vic forces a smile.
VIC: Set you back much?
BYRON: Most of my savings. But it's worth it. Investing in our future.
Vic looks guilty, and guiltier still when Byron tells him that he and Nic are footing the bill for their celebration brekkie...

Dex complains to JJ in the kitchen that Nell isn't picking up on any of his hints that he wants to go on a date with her.
JJ: Ah, that sucks.
DEX (loudly): Well, what do I do?
REMI (from the living room): If you're looking for something to do, the back yard needs sweeping.
DEX: Thanks, Ma (!)
JJ: Umm, maybe you could find something that she'd be into that you can do together. You know, like manga shopping or something.
Dex looks pleased at this idea, and thanks JJ for his advice. JJ says 'no problem', but dies a little inside.
No 22
Ideas are being posited for Terese's fish name over breakfast. Hugo suggests Goldfish, seemingly unaware that this one's already taken by Toadie's cousin Georgia.
HUGO: Or Angelfish. Or Butterfly Fish.
TERESE: Oh, Hugo, they're gorgeous.
HUGO: You should be Hammerhead Shark!
Everyone laughs. When Toadie asks the kids what they want to do today, Nell drags Hugo off with her.
NELL: Come on, Sunfish. We've got stuff to do.
HUGO: Stuff?
NELL: Uhh... aquatic research stuff. (to Toadie and Terese) You guys focus on your stuff.
HUGO: Bye, Dad! Bye, Hammerhead!
Once the kids have gone, Terese remarks that it's sweet of Nell to give them some time in the house alone together.
TERESE: So what do you want to do?
TOADIE: ... What do *you* want to do?
TERESE: I asked you first.
TOADIE: Well, I can't tell you...
TERESE: No?
TOADIE: I could show you...
They kiss as romantic music swells.
TERESE: I've missed you.
They kiss again, and fall into the table together, spilling cornflakes everywhere!
Lassiter's Complex
Byron, Nicolette and Vic are having their celebration breakfast, and Nic is ploughing through the mimosas with gusto. Jane arrives, having decided to join after all following sustained pestering via text from Nicolette and Vic. Nic decides it's time to raise a toast.
NICOLETTE: Can I have your attention, please?
BYRON: Like you don't always have our attention, Nic.
NICOLETTE: Byron and I can't thank you enough for what you've given us, Dad. And we're so determined to make you proud. And we will make sure that Isla and any other grandkids that come along know Yorokobi was gifted to us by the very best grandad in the world. So cheers to you.
As everyone clinks glasses, Vic now looks very shifty indeed.
VIC: If I may, I have something very important to say, too. About the future.
He pauses for a long time, and it looks as if he's going to reveal that he's in remission. But instead...
VIC: Uhh... I want to tell you both how much I love you. And I couldn't be more thrilled for both of your futures.
They all raise a glass to that.
No 24
Aaron is teaching Logan how to make Long Island iced tea.
LOGAN: Okay, so how much tea do we put in?
AARON: Tea? There's no actual tea in these ones, mate.
LOGAN: I knew that (...) Hey, thanks for playing teacher today, and for being a mate. It's nice to feel so welcome.
Aaron is impressed with Logan's first effort at a cocktail, and Logan playfully puts the cocktail shaker on his head. But it brings back a vivid flashback for Aaron of David doing the same thing during their cocktail- making contest not so long ago - and Aaron's face drops.
LOGAN: Are you okay?
Aaron snatches the cocktail shaker from Logan.
AARON: Just get out.
LOGAN: Whoa!
AARON: No, you have to go. Please. Just go.
Logan complies, looking concerned, while Aaron broods silently.
Harold's Café
Nell and Hugo are having a thumb war on the sofa. Nell wins rather quickly.
HUGO: You cheated!
NELL: How?
HUGO: Your thumb knows karate.
JJ and Dex come in and spot Nell.
DEX: Wish me luck.
JJ: Good luck.
Dex's opening gambit is to tell Nell about the new Mamoru Oshii retrospective that's scheduled at the cinema - but she could buy it to watch on demand at home with the voucher JJ bought her. Nell says that sounds amazing, but is half- looking at JJ as she talks to Dex.
DEX: And I haven't seen Ghost in the Shell for a while, so...?
NELL: Yeah? Uh, let me check it out and I'll get back to you.
DEX: Yeah. Okay. Cool.
Dex looks pleased as punch, and he and JJ leave them to it. 'Nice work,' JJ tells Dex.
Lassiter's Park
Logan is back at work with Melanie, when Aaron turns up to apologise for freaking out and throwing him out earlier.
LOGAN: It's fine (...) Can I ask what happened?
AARON: It's just, something you did reminded me of a moment with David before he died. It was a special moment.
LOGAN: Grief can be... pretty all- consuming.
AARON: Yeah. Yeah, it can.
LOGAN: But if ever you want to talk about David, I'm more than happy to listen.
Aaron smiles.
Ramsay Street
Vic is standing in the road, gazing thoughtfully towards Jane's house (where Harold's camper van is already in situ!), when Remi approaches.
REMI: How are you faring?
VIC: Oh, relieved. But... I admit, remission does complicate a few plans. Not that I'm complaining.
REMI: Well... when you're ready, if you've got any questions, I'm happy to help.
VIC: Thank you (...) Can I ask that you keep the news to yourself, for now?
REMI: Of course. All of our clinical discussions are strictly confidential.
Jane comes down the drive, and Remi leaves them to it. Vic tells Jane he was just looking for Nicolette and Byron. Jane says Nic isn't home; she isn't sure where Byron is. She advises him to call them.
VIC: Jane... I'm glad you came to breakfast. Especially after my... poor judgement yesterday. I realise how insensitive it was of me. Sorry.
JANE: No, you just... just got lost in the moment. It's forgotten... Was there something else?
VIC: Umm... no, no. I'll give Nicolette a call.
JANE: Vic, umm... look, despite our issues, I wanted to let you know that I meant what I said yesterday. I was worried, but... I just love seeing how Nicolette and Byron have embraced what you have given them so wholeheartedly.
VIC (guiltily): They have embraced it, haven't they?
JANE: And I'm grateful that you... you're devoting your time to them. This is something that they will always remember.
VIC: I'm hardly a saint.
JANE: Hmm. Well aware of that! But still.
VIC: For what it's worth, I'm really grateful that, you know, we've had this chance to reconnect.
JANE: Yeah. Likewise, Vic.
Jane walks away, and Vic looks very conflicted as he continues to gaze around the street, before walking away.
No 22
Toadie and Terese are pashing in the kitchen in their dressing gowns. Toadie has a moment of clarity.
TOADIE: I've got it!
TERESE: What?
TOADIE: Swordfish (...) Yeah, Swordfish! It's powerful.
He kisses her some more.
TOADIE: It's a little bit sexy.
TERESE: Oh!
TOADIE: Nobody messes with the Swordfish.
TERESE: Oh, I like it!
Some next- level pashing ensues just as Nell and Hugo come through the front door, and the kids are quick to cover their eyes when they see what's going down.
NELL: We're really happy for you, but maybe cool it while Hugo gets his bag?
Hugo is feeling around for his rucksack on the couch without uncovering his eyes!
TOADIE: It's Swordfish, by the way.
HUGO: Oh, cool. Bye, Swordfish!
Hugo walks back out, eyes still covered, followed by Nell. The pashing resumes.
Lassiter's Complex
Nicolette wonders aloud to Byron whether they could claim for breakfast as a business expense. He doesn't see why not. Byron says he's been going over the cost reports that Leo sent through; Yorokobi was really hit hard by the poisoning scandal. But Nic says they'll get it back up to speed in no time. Haz appears to give them some takeaway coffees, then goes back inside.
Jane turns up and joins Nicolette and Byron. She tells them that she's just seen Vic and that he's looking for them; he said he'd call. Nic tries to phone Vic, but gets a message saying the number is unavailable and decides it's 'weird' that he's not answering.
BYRON: He's probably just having a snooze.
NICOLETTE: I keep getting flashbacks to when he collapsed in the Dandenongs.
Worried, Nic decides she'll head over to No 32 and check on Vic. Byron goes after her.
Lassiter's Park
Logan is still at work and admiring his environs. Melanie says it's a great spot which is why people often have their weddings here. Mel's about to go to a view a house, while Logan holds the fort at the drinks van. He wishes her luck.
Once Melanie's gone, Logan gets out his phone to look at photos from David and Aaron's wedding, which were taken in almost the exact spot he's in now. As he looks around and sees several of the landmarks from the photos in real life, he smiles with satisfaction.
No 32
Nicolette and Byron arrive to check on Vic, but he's not there. However, there are two envelopes lying on the table in the sunroom, addressed to each of them.
NICOLETTE: What do you think they are? What's happening?
BYRON: What do you reckon? Vic Stone's returned to form. He's done a runner.
