Gavin asks what Holly was doing (nothing) then accuses her of taking pictures of him, stealing her phone to check - warning her off with a loaded syringe when she tries to grab it back.
GAVIN: You're coming with me!
Back Lane Bar
Wendy is having a great time with her new found Uni mates and is introduced to friend of Parker's - Quinn.
Flat somewhere
Gavin bundles Holly into a flat and then proceeds to smash her phone up. Holly informs him that others know she's following him (it also comes out that she is Karl's daughter) and that Liv is going to reveal on her podcast that he is the poisoner too.
HOLLY: So you just need to let me go before you make things worse for yourself.
Gavin tries to justify what he did, including it wasn't his intention to kill anyone. Holly can see the merits in his plan [as a way of getting off] plus the hospital won't want the bad publicity either. Unfortunately her words make no difference, as Gavin then lunges for Holly and drags her into the bathroom, picking up two ties on the way - one which he stuffs into her mouth to shut her up and the other to tie her hands behind her back. As Gavin forces Holly to lie in the bath, he undoes the tie he is wearing to tie her legs together. Gavin then taunts Holly with the loaded syringe but walks out of the bathroom leaving a very upset holly remaining in the bath.
Number 22
Leo (and Krista) calls round to see Terese to talk over the deal Vic is offering - a 50% stake but the offer is less than the land value. "So he's playing hardball given your financial position," is Terese's reaction to hearing what the deal is and her suggestion is not to ask Vic for more money but to offer him only a 49% in the business instead, so that Leo retains the controlling interest. Leo still isn't pleased Vic is getting it "for a lot less than what it's worth" but Terese reminds him that if he hangs in "while the publicity blows over," the value will increase.
TERESE: Leo, this is your dream. Only you can decide.
Back Lane Bar
Sadly the bar is closing but Wendy is still in the mood to party and finds a willing partner in Quinn to "kick it on!"
Flat somewhere
Holly is doing her best to get out of her predicament but sadly to no avail.
Number 32 (next day)
Karl calls round to see if Holly is there since she has stayed out all night and it's unlike her not to text to say if she's staying elsewhere overnight. Mackenzie hasn't heard from Holly since they argued over Gavin being the poisoner. Just as Karl is calling Gavin, Haz reveals that Terese said Gavin didn't appear at the fundraiser he was meant to be attending. Given Karl can't get hold of Gavin, Mackenzie wonders if "there a possibility that she could be right about Dr Bowman?"
MACKENZIE: Is there any chance that he could be the poisoner?
Flat somewhere
Holly is in a very distressed state when Gavin comes in with a glass of water. She is suspicious of what it might contain so refuses to drink it. As Gavin starts to pack up ahead of fleeing the country because of her, a sobbing Holly asks him to "please let me go," along with promising not to tell anyone "because nobody listens to me" especially given she's already wrongly accused two other people of being the poisoner.
HOLLY: They won't believe the third.
Gavin is bitter that all he's worked for has been ruined because of Holly and stuffs the tie back into her mouth.
GAVIN: You've wrecked my life.
Number 24
Leo (and Krista) drop by to discuss the deal with Vic - he is willing to accept the offer only "if I can retain a controlling interest at 51%." Byron, Nicolette and Jane seem surprised at the counteroffer Leo has put forward, they thought it was going to be a flat out no! Leo is happy to work with Byron and Nicolette adding that it can be a legacy for Isla as well as Abigail. After a moments suspense, Vic agrees on the deal with Leo much to the relief of everyone!
Hospital
Karl (and Andrew) come to the hospital looking for Gavin but Remi reports that he's called in sick. She's surprised to hear that given he's due to be commended for his work diagnosing the poisonings. "What's going on?" she asks and rather than a reply, Andrew instead asks for his address.
Number 24
The Stone family celebrate the vineyard deal with bubbles and Nicolette sincerely thanks her dad for buying them the stake. Byron feels that they have "lowballed Leo" but is reassured by his dad that "it wasn't personal" and adds that is something they need to "start seeing things as proud new business owners."
Byron: It's insane right? Byron Stone, business owner!
Even Nicolette admits that her "heart is still pounding" over the news and agrees to go for a walk (with the bottle of bubbles!) and talk business with her brother!
Once the kids depart, Jane thanks Vic for doing "something truly life- changing for them." In return, Vic compliments Jane that the kids "wouldn't be the brilliant young things" without her. Once they clink their flutes, Vic leans in and kisses Jane!!! She can't pull back quick enough and Vic immediately apologises, citing that he didn't "know what came over me."
Flat somewhere
Andrew, Karl and Remi hurriedly reach the complex where Gavin lives and finalise their plan of action. As Gavin called in sick, Remi is personally calling round to hand deliver his letter of commendation - she mustn't enter the premises, just "note anything unusual you see from the door."
ANDREW: I don't want to spook him.
"He really might just be unwell," Remi remarks as she (with Karl/Andrew behind her) makes her way to Gavin's flat while inside, Gavin is gathering the last of his things ready to flee.
Inside the bathroom, Holly can hear Remi knocking and calling out "Gavin" and after identifying herself, explaining she's heard he was sick. Debating whether to answer or not, Gavin opens his front door almost taking Remi by surprise. She asks how he's feeling (not good) before explaining why she is calling - he does look suspicious until she turns on the praise for saving her son. Thankfully the prolonged conversation has allowed Holly to untangle her feet from her restraints and get herself not just out of the bath, but out into the living room area where Remi sees her.
REMI: Andrew, she's in here!
Remi puts all her might into ensuring Gavin can't close the door on her whilst Andrew and Karl rush towards the flat's door. Together the trio force the door open but Gavin manages to grab Holly and threaten to jab her with he loaded syringe. Remi restrains Karl from doing something while Andrew goes into negotiation mode trying to get Gavin to relax and calm down. Thankfully, Holly employs a self- defence tactic by stamping on Gavin's foot causing him to release the syringe and the grip he had on her. While Holly runs to the safety of her dad and Remi, saying that "he's got a syringe full of poison," Andrew pounces on Gavin and manages to restrain him.
With Gavin held securely, Remi rushes forward and grabs the syringe but notices that its empty so asks "who's been injected?!"
(Later)
Commercial break later, Karl is calling for an ambulance whilst Remi is performing CPR on Gavin! "Is he gonna die?" Holly asks but a determined Remi replies back "not if I can help it!"
REMI: Come on Gavin, you can't get out of it that easily!
The Waterhole (beer garden)
Wendy should have reached for some Irn Bru as well as her shades to help with the hangover as she comes outside to collect the glasses.
Quinn drops by to ensure she "has a pulse" after their night out and Wendy admits she shouldn't have had "shot 10... or 11!" He invites her out to another night out but she has to decline due to working.
Aaron has overheard their conversation and volunteers to cover her shift and it looks like she's tempted to become "Wild Wendy" again!
Hospital
Thanks to Remi, Andrew reports to the gathered (Remi, Cara, Leo, Holly and Karl) that Gavin is in a stable condition but under police guard. Cara admits to Remi that she would have saved him for what he did to Dex! And it turns out that it was a good thing Holly refused to drink the water offered to her as it was drugged plus there was evidence on his phone that Gavin planned to leave her unconscious somewhere while he fled the country. Andrew confirms Karl's question that Gavin will be charged "with kidnapping, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, poisoning."
ANDREW: He'll get jail time for sure.
Both Remi and Leo praise Holly for her actions in helping snare Gavin. She hears too that "once word gets around" the vineyard will be okay and "customers will feel safe to come back." Leo also adds in that he's let Liv at Crimesborough know too. Remi is confident that the hospital won't pursue Holly getting into the records office but does warn her not to "make a habit of that!" Although perhaps they shouldn't be discussing this in front of Andrew but even he can see perhaps he doesn't need to get involved! As Karl goes to take Holly home, she sincerely thanks everyone for rescuing her.
Number 22
After being initially shocked to hear from Jane about the kiss, Terese does ask if she kissed him back! "No!" comes the emphatic reply back along with Jane adding that she "ran out of there as quickly as I could!" Terese wonders if she has "some mixed emotions" and Jane does admit she cares for Vic "but he explicitly promised that he was not here to try and win me back."
JANE: But then he takes every opportunity to criticise Mike and then I went and misplaced my engagement ring, and now he's kissing me! And he's a dying man for goodness sake!!
Terese chastises her friend for giving herself "such a hard time" especially since she shares "so much history" with Vic. "Of course you're gonna be confused," Terese finishes off with. Jane isn't sure whether to tell Mike or not and but while the reply is "it's really up to you," although Terese does warn that "the truth always finds a funny way of coming out, no matter how you feel about it."
The Waterhole (beer garden)
Quinn is impressed that the free drink Wendy has just delivered to him is his favourite and he promises to keep quiet that it was a freebie! He asks again if she can come out and is thrilled to hear that she can now come, what with Aaron covering her shift.
WENDY: But I hope you are ready because last night was just a warm- up!
QUINN: Oh, I'm... I'm ready!
Hospital
Vic nervously waits ahead of his appointment with Remi. She apologises for being late she was getting some additional advice on his test results. He seems worried about her concerns given he is "very aware of my prognosis" and is ready and waiting "whatever the results are."
Remi explains to him about the "interesting chat" she had with his oncologist in London - that he was part of an immunotherapy trial, which he failed to mention.
VIC: I didn't tell anyone. I had my hopes, but the last few scans all but confirmed it was a waste of time.
"It's worth a try though," he finishes with as Remi goes to put his latest scan on the light box.
REMI: Well, she and I have come to the same conclusion about your latest scans. It appears the immunotherapy has worked!
VIC: (shocked) What?! The tumours have shrunk?
REMI: They haven't just shrunk, they've completely disappeared. I am really happy to say your cancer is in full remission.
Vic is struggling to comprehend what Remi is saying to him... that he isn't going to die! "Well not any time soon," she does add!
REMI: It's good news... isn't it?!
VIC: ...
