Harold's café
"Where did that come from?!" is Amy's initial reaction to Ned's plan before trying to get her head around what he is proposing - she would have "two exclusive committed boyfriends." Everyone seems very shocked at the proposal, and given nobody is immediately rejecting it, the trio agree to go and think it through so they can come back and decide how it is going to work.
Number 32
Jane calls the boys to say there is no new leads or information about Nicolette and admits that she thinks her daughter isn't coming back. Even though David is very down, Aaron is at least trying to stay positive by saying that they will keep looking for Nicolette.
David isn't too impressed to see Chloe either when she drops by to see if they need anything, ahead of starting back at Lassiters. They don't and sarcastically, David tells her to "have fun at work!"
DAVID: It must be nice to pretend everything's back to normal!
"You shouldn't have come," is Aaron's response to his sister and wordlessly, she about turns and heads out of the house.
Number 22
Chloe heads over to #22 and Terese gives her the option to stay home, but Chloe is resolute that she wants back to work so that she can take her mind off the missing Nicolette.
Paul is worried that Chloe might be too consumed worrying about Nicolette that she will struggle and thus wants Harlow to still be involved. "I don't need to job share Paul," is Chloe's reply to his suggestion and gets instruction from Terese on what her first job is.
Number 30
Amy has told Toadie about Ned's suggestion and his take is that it is "progressive" but also "complicated!" Amy agrees she doesn't want complicated and equally isn't interested in marriage either (since polygamy is illegal in Australia). He does warn her of some of the pitfalls, Sheila aside, like Levi and Ned getting jealous of each other. The more the pair talk, Amy seems to be talking herself out of the plan as she doesn't "really see Ned going through with this" plus "Levi seemed petrified" too.
Lassiters Complex
Terese is surprised to see Jesse sitting in the complex but still goes over to talk to him. Jesse tells her about being kicked out of his apartment after Tom and Shay found out that he'd "played them." "Do you think its permanent?" she asks but he doesn't answer and instead admits he didn't think Tom and Shay "would go that far."
JESSE: I guess I'm not that smart as I thought I was.
Terese's office
Harlow drops by with some invoices Chloe wanted and hears that some of the work she did (quarterly projections) was incorrect due to using old data - Chloe thought Harlow would like to know for future reference! Harlow wants to re-check other things she's done, but Chloe rejects the offer and will do it herself now she is back on board. Harlow doesn't too impressed to be knocked back in offering her help!
Harold's café (exterior)
Levi finishes his 'thinking' run when he runs into Ned who is out the back of the café collecting dishes. Without wanting to sound like he is "paranoid," Levi accuses Ned of having some sort of ulterior "angle" with his suggestion - [hypothetically] Ned will reap the rewards (of having Amy all to himself) if Levi rejects the proposal. Ned rejects his thinking and points out that he could be dropped because Amy finds his idea "too weird."
NED: I pitched this because I like Amy. You like Amy and I think you want more.
LEVI: But you do too?
NED: Yes, but I don't want either of us to get burnt. And I don't want it to be a competition.
LEVI: Okay, so you really think that polyamorous is the way to go?
NED: Man, I've never done this before. I'm no expert. If it works for others, maybe it can work for us?
Lassiters hotel foyer
Harlow is subtly trying to get work out of Terese but is told to "be patient" and she will get an opportunity. Suddenly, she notices Jesse (complete with luggage) entering the reception and Terese explains that she's "invited Jesse to stay here at the hotel" until he "finds some permanent accommodation." Jesse fills in the blanks over why he is homeless and Harlow asks if he can afford to stay at Lassiters. Terese clarifies there will be no cost, she's picking up his tab as it's only fair that given he was made homeless trying to help Lassiters, "we return the favour."
Harold's café (exterior)
Levi has sat pondering the idea while Ned has been inside working. When he comes out to clean some tables, Levi collars him so they can chat more. "Do you really think that you'd be cool with your girlfriend seeing someone else?" Levi asks. "I guess we're already half way there," is Ned's reply and does agree with Levi that there will be some "jealousy" but equally knows he has to "deal with it."
LEVI: How? By knocking me out?!
NED: People don't get jealous for no reason. Maybe they think there's no trust in the relationship or they're insecure. Either way, you work out what it is and deal with it.
LEVI: Damn Dr Phil, you're making this sound pretty simple eh!
NED: Look, I know its not, it scares the hell out of me.
Ned goes onto say that there are benefits too, like "more time for ourselves," which Levi does get. Their chat is interrupted when Amy arrives and asks how their thinking is going.
LEVI: We might be leaning towards the pros.
Amy now looks rather concerned!
The Waterhole
Aaron is losing the battle to get David interested in doing something... that is until he spots his brother and dad entering the bar! "Don't push me," is the warning David gives Aaron when he wanted him to go over and talk to his brother.
Paul gives Aaron a knowing look as he follows David out of the bar, before trying to reassure Leo that David will "come round."
LEO: Say it like you mean it the next time.
"He will," Paul confidently replies back, given David has always done so in the past, they just need to "chip away at it." Leo doesn't think so, because "it's different this time," and is now regretting hiring Chloe as it would mean Nicolette "would still be here."
PAUL: The only person responsible for Nicolette is Nicolette! She was the one that chose to run.
LEO: This is all my fault dad. If I don't stand up and take responsibility, what kind of person am I?
Lassiters hotel foyer
Jesse is singing Terese's praise to Harlow for what she's done for him, although is still wary that he might remind her of what his mum did. Harlow reassures him that Terese said "she was fine" but does agree that he should keep a low profile.
Aaron wants a word with his sister, and after passing the job she was working on to Harlow (who looks happy at being asked to help out), the pair take a seat. Although Aaron admits that even though he is still angry at her (and gets she's genuinely sorry) he doesn't want them to end up like David and Leo after what he saw in the bar (David totally cut Leo off). He also apologises to her for wrongly saying that Fay would be disappointed in her and only said it because he know it would hurt Chloe, which "was wrong."
CHLOE: Can you forgive me?
AARON: Yes. I think we can get there.
And to 'seal the deal' they do their 'ET finger' against each other's forefinger.
Harold's café (exterior)
The talking is over with the trio, it's time for decisions. While both the guys are keen, unfortunately for Amy, a polyamorous relationship is "a step too far" for her. Levi is happy with her stance and Ned asks what they now do instead.
AMY: Can't we just keep things the way that they are?
NED: Casual?
AMY: Yes. You don't have to compete, like just be yourselves and have fun... and forget this conversation ever happened!
NED: Okay, consider it unsaid.
Terese's office
Paul has heard what Terese is doing for Jesse and isn't amused, not about the cost but because she finds the sight of Jesse "unbearable." She reassures him that she can "handle it now" before exiting the office to go to a meeting.
Harlow pipes up tell her grandfather that Jesse said he'd stay out of Terese's way. He's puzzled why she is in the office, and after explaining she's doing Chloe's work (but is having issues), Paul says that he will help her get the task completed before the impending deadline.
Number 32
David is wallowing on the couch watching television when Aaron comes in from his walk. He now regrets his decision not to accompany Aaron after he commented on "feeling a lot better" when David asked how it went. Aaron is quick to say that David could still get a walk in... by going over to #22 to see Leo.
DAVID: Aaron, I don't want to argue about this, I'm too tired.
Aaron doesn't want to argue either but knows Leo is sorry for what he did "otherwise he wouldn't keep trying to reach out." "This sounds a lot like arguing!" is David's comeback, so Aaron explains he's worried that if David let's this go on "it will get too late to fix."
DAVID: Good!
AARON: David, you don't mean that.
"Why are you pushing this?" David asks and the reply is Leo is "your brother" but David doesn't get it and indicates that he doesn't want to talk about it anymore.
Terese's office
"I'm back," a confident Chloe announces as she walks back into the office. However that confidence is quickly knocked out of her when Paul lets rip for dumping the report onto Harlow to finish (which he had to assist with so the deadline could be met) while she sat chatting with Aaron. "It was really important that I spoke to him," a defiant Chloe explains herself with and only the promise of making the time up, has Paul stopping the rant and sending her back to work!
Harlow does chastise her grandfather after Chloe exits the office, as she fears Chloe won't ask her to lend a hand in future. Paul sees it as a positive - Chloe can go and Harlow can get her old job back! "I can't do that," is Harlow's immediate reply given she has Uni plus the fact that Chloe is more experienced too.
PAUL: Well that's nothing that time can't fix. Besides, you're smarter than her, you're more focused and... oh yes, you're family.
HARLOW: Sounds like nepotism!
PAUL: Mmm, it's a family run business!
Looking for an exit, Harlow's next comeback is that Chloe needs the job and while Paul doesn't disagree with that, he does think Chloe needs a "less demanding job, something she made abundantly clear before." Eventually Paul agrees to Harlow's suggestion of letting "HR make the call" but he does a have a feeling that she "loves this" and is "driven hungry for more."
PAUL: Unless I got you completely wrong?
