Number 30
Toadie can't believe Amy went against his advice not to see Ned, while Dipi can't believe Toadie knew about them in the first place. "First my husband and now my daughter's boyfriend," Dipi says, glaring at Amy. "Can't you find another pool to swim in?" She also rips into Ned for being insensitive while Yashvi's lying injured in a hospital bed. Ned points out that he'll always care for Yashvi, but they're not together anymore. But Toadie says he's concerned about Yashvi's welfare too, especially if Ned and Amy continue to see one another. Amy reminds Toadie and Dipi that how she lives her life is none of their business, but she and Ned haven't labelled anything yet so they can both calm their farm. When Amy and Ned leave, Dipi demands Toadie tell her everything he knows about the situation.
Number 24
Chloe and Jane fuss over Nicolette, getting her settled on the couch with a cup of tea. Nicolette encourages her mum to head to bed since it's late: she's already got Chloe looking after her. When Jane goes into her room, Nicolette happily snuggles into Chloe, but Chloe is only pretending to reciprocate her happiness.
The Waterhole
Amy's enraged that Dipi always goes in for the attack first and never asks for the facts. Ned says he should have taken more of the heat seeing as he's the one who kissed Amy first, but Amy knows Dipi doesn't care about that, "she thinks we're both devil spawn." Amy says if they could rewind time Ned probably wouldn't kiss her, but Ned says he would.
AMY: Really? Even though it's caused so much trouble, and it's going to cause even more?
NED: Trouble I can handle. Look, you asked me today if I wanted a bit of no-strings fun. The kiss was my answer.
Number 30
The next morning, Mackenzie and Toadie compliment Dipi on her pancake making skills. Mac says she'll do the dishes then go to the hospital with Dipi to see Yashvi. Melanie pops around and is delighted to see Dipi, giving her a hug. She says Dipi must be thrilled that Yashvi's going to make a full recovery. The mood sours somewhat when Melanie asks where Amy is and finds out she took Nell and Hugo to the park. "She is such a sweetheart!" Melanie beams, soon clocking Dipi's uneasiness. When Dipi and Mackenzie leave for the hospital, Melanie asks Toadie what she said wrong. "You do remember that Amy hooked up with Dipi's husband?" Toadie reminds her, earning an "oops" from Melanie.
Number 24
Nicolette grins and says how lucky she is to have a gorgeous girlfriend looking after her and her mum running Harold's while she has another day of rest and relaxation. Leo stops by and asks how Nicolette's feeling. "Fine. No lawsuits pending," she replies, but is confused when Leo asks if Chloe's ready to go. Chloe explains that Leo called about work while Nicolette was in the shower, but she'll only be gone for a few hours. Plus, she's organised for David and Aaron to look out for Nicolette while she's gone. On cue, the boys arrive for their care duties, but Nicolette doesn't appear too thrilled to have them as substitutes.
Harold's Café
Karl joins Toadie and Melanie and says he checked in on Yashvi during his hospital rounds, calling her lucky for not having more serious injuries. Toadie thinks Yashvi's emotional wellbeing is about to take a hit, though, with Melanie explaining to Karl about the Amy and Ned kiss. While Toadie steps aside to take a work call, Karl and Melanie keep chatting about the complicated goings-on at Number 30. Melanie has sympathy for Amy, however, telling Karl that she tried really hard to bury her feelings for Ned.
MELANIE: It's such a shame, she's such a sweetheart. And so is Dipi too.
KARL: I agree. You know what the sad thing is? If Shane and Amy hadn't had that fling I think that Dipi and Amy would have become firm friends.
MELANIE: Oh my goodness, I can so see that too.
KARL: Fat chance of it happening now. Such a shame.
But Melanie gets a calculating look, like she's about to go and buy some BFF necklaces for two unsuspecting ladies.
Erinsborough Hospital
Dipi and Mackenzie visit Yashvi, telling her they ran into her sergeant in the car park. Yashvi explains her boss needed to ask questions about the accident and why she was in the car in the first place when she's suspended. She thinks the sarge has her back, but they'll have to wait and see. Mackenzie hopes the harassment claim will be dropped now that Mitch and Nelson have been arrested, but Yashvi isn't sure about that either. Vi then asks how things went with Amy last night, getting suss when Dipi goes quiet on the topic. Dipi says she's not sure if it's her place to say anything, especially since Yashvi's still recovering too, but she admits she walked in on Amy and Ned kissing. "Wow," is about as much as a stunned Yashvi can muster in the moment.
Number 24
Aaron is massaging Nicolette's shoulders but goes in a bit too hard and hurts her. David brings them a platter of fruit cut up into little pieces, and Nicolette quips that it looks like she's in pre-school. But the boys just want to pamper her, and their fussing equals love. When Nic suggests they watch TV, Aaron grabs the remote for her and asks what she wants to view.
NICOLETTE: I'm halfway through this really great documentary about a satanic serial killer. The documentary tells it from the serial killer's point of view, it's really good.
DAVID: (sharing an alarmed look with Aaron) I think we should watch that baking show! You know the one with the giant sculptural cakes?
NICOLETTE: I thought it was pamper Nicolette day?
AARON: Yeah, of course it is.
DAVID: And it is well proven that babies respond to stimulus, even inside the womb, so satanic serial killers-
NICOLETTE: (getting off the couch) I have to go.
AARON: Hold on, where are you going?
NICOLETTE: To the toilet, want to join me?!
Aaron wonders why Nicolette's acting so standoffish, but David reckons it's typical ex-nurse behaviour: happy to give the help, never happy to receive it.
Number 30
Dipi wonders if she did the right thing telling Yashvi about Ned and Amy. But Mackenzie reckons it's good Yashvi knows the truth, and it's better coming from Dipi than anyone else. Melanie and Amy arrive home, and while Amy's uneasy, Melanie's simply delighted to see Dipi there. She says she was planning on making empanadas for lunch, and forces Amy to 'relax' in the lounge room with Dipi while she prepares them. Looking wary with the current set up, Mackenzie joins Mel in the kitchen.
MACKENZIE: Are you insane?
MELANIE: Well that depends on who you ask.
MACKENZIE: Those two hate each other!
MELANIE: Well maybe if they got to spend some quality time with some supportive women around them like us, then they might forget their differences and realise that they're BFFs!
MACKENZIE: Did you do this on purpose? (Melanie grins at her) You are insane!
MELANIE: It'll be fine.
Cut to Amy and Dipi sitting in stony silence. Taking the plunge, Amy says she wants to talk about what happened last night. Dipi's not keen, but Amy insists and says she can appreciate it must have been somewhat of a shock for Dipi.
AMY: Even though technically, Ned and I didn't do anything wrong. Just like I didn't do anything wrong when I started seeing Shane. (Dipi sighs in frustration) However, I understand that Yashvi's just been through a massive ordeal.
DIPI: Yes, she has. And after hearing about last night it hasn't made things any better.
AMY: Oh, you told her.
DIPI: Of course I told her, she's my daughter. And for the record she's not happy about it.
AMY: Well that's that then. If Yashvi's not happy about it, then I will text Ned right now and tell him that it's off. Not that it was even on. Just, sisters before misters, y'know?
DIPI: (surprised) I suppose that's something. Thank you.
Over in the kitchen, Melanie looks pleased the two women are talking, but Mackenzie isn't as convinced.
Winery Office
Leo reminds Chloe that any time she wants to go home she can tell him, but Chloe says they're barely halfway through their to-do list. Besides, 'a few hours' could mean three or it could mean five. She also says Nicolette has Aaron and David with her, so it's not like she's alone.
CHLOE: And I've basically been at her beck and call ever since she got out of hospital. (She catches herself when Leo smirks at her) That sounded way worse than I meant it. I am happy to take care of Nicolette, but I just think it's also good for me to take a break, put my head into something else. That way when I do go home I will be refreshed and invigorated and be able to take care of her even better.
She gives Leo a smile but he's not quite buying her story.
Erinsborough Hospital
Ned stops by Yashvi's room and says she's looking heaps better than yesterday. He awkwardly adds that he also knows Dipi told her about his kiss with Amy and that Vi's not too happy about it. "Can you blame me?" Yashvi replies. "Amy's my dad's ex-girlfriend and my roommate. It's a bit off, Ned." Ned says that's a fair call, although it was just a kiss, there's no secret relationship or even a friends with benefits situation happening.
NED: I don't really know why I have to justify this to you, Vi.
YASHVI: Then why are you here?
NED: Because I'm still your friend. At least I hope I am.
YASHVI: (quietly) Of course you are. Do you like her?
NED: Yeah I do. I mean, not in the way that I liked you. I loved you. But Amy's a bit of fun and I think that's what I want right now. That make sense?
Yashvi nods at him.
Number 30
Mackenzie brings the ladies some wine and asks Dipi if she's planning on calling into Harold's to check out the refurbishment. Dipi says yes, and wants to check in with Nicolette too after hearing about her baby scare. She also wants to speak with Nic about the takings tapering away ever so slightly the past couple of months. "That'll be The Flamingo stealing your juice bar trade!" Melanie chimes in from the kitchen, only realising she's put her foot in it when Amy glares at her. Amy then gets a call from Ned, but she promptly ignores it and flips her phone over for good measure. "So how's the family?" Mackenzie awkwardly asks to fill the silence. Dipi rambles that they're all good - she actually just bought Shane a sleep apnoea machine so he can breathe better at night and stop annoying her. "Yeah, his snoring can be intense," Amy replies without thinking.
AMY: Sorry, I did not need to bring that up.
DIPI: No you didn't. I don't even know why you're here.
AMY: I'm here because I live here. So if anyone should be the one to go, it should be you.
DIPI: This is my brother-in-law's house and I am here to see my daughter, who also lives here, remember her? She's currently stuck in hospital while you're here sticking your tongue down her ex-boyfriend's throat.
AMY: I ended it with Ned, and I apologised for it but you don't care. You just swan in here like you own the joint!
Dipi is poised to say more but then just sighs and says Amy isn't worth it. Melanie looks horrified at just how badly her plan has gone.
Number 24/Winery
David and Aaron are having a wonderful time watching the cake show, urging Nicolette to join them. But she's too busy in the kitchen sending a SOS text to Chloe ('Have you left work yet? Daaron are driving me crazy!!!!'). Jane gets home, also pleased to see the "giant cake show" on and asks how Nicolette's faring. When Nicolette says she wants to pop into work for a bit, Jane, David and Aaron all gather around to let her know what a terrible idea that would be. Nicolette says she wants to make sure the place is perfect for Dipi when she inspects it, but Jane says she's got everything under control. The boys direct Nicolette back to the couch, where she gets a reply text from Chloe, who says she shouldn't be too much longer (with seven heart emojis thrown in for good measure). Nicolette doesn't look impressed. And at the winery, Chloe appears guilty - the hearts certainly don't match the grim look on her face.
Harold's Café
Amy walks in, not in the best mood after her run-in with Dipi, and doesn't see Ned sitting behind her. Ned joins her table and says he tried to call her earlier after he saw Yashvi at the hospital but she didn't answer. Amy wants to know how Yashvi's feeling, and Ned admits she wasn't happy to hear about their kiss, but she'll be okay in time.
NED: Look, it's a bit of a mind-melt getting her head around the fact that you were with Shane and now... But the weirdness won't last, so I don't think it's any reason for us to stop.
AMY: I don't know, Ned. For something that was supposed to be fun and uncomplicated it's turning out to be neither. I don't know, is it worth it?
NED: I think it is.
AMY: You don't have to live with Toadie and Yashvi. And Dipi.
NED: Look, whatever happens next, it's your call. As long as you know I'm down.
He moves to leave, but leans in close to Amy before he goes.
NED: And like you said, that kiss was amazing.
Amy can't help but smile.
Erinsborough Hospital
Toadie tells Melanie that he knows her empanadas are good, but if she's trying to get Amy and Dipi on friendly terms she'll have to do better than that! Melanie says she didn't even get to cook them, and should have listened to Mackenzie when she said she was insane. "You are, but in the sweetest way, though," Toadie replies. He then says that maybe there'll be some peace now that Amy and Dipi have got the argument out of their system.
But in Yashvi's room, Dipi is full on venting to her daughter about her spat with Amy. Yashvi says she's glad Dipi walked away from it, though. Dipi points out that Yashvi was upset about the kiss, but Yashvi says she didn't have a right to be.
YASHVI: Ned should move on. And if it's with Amy, then so be it.
DIPI: You're a bigger person than I am.
YASHVI: Just no more arguing, okay? I don't want to get home and walk into World War III.
DIPI: Well as long as you're sure you're okay.
YASHVI: I am. I should probably start thinking about moving on myself.
Winery Restaurant/Office
Karl wheels out a trolley stacked with cases of wine. Leo asks if he needs assistance, but Karl says Hendrix will help him load it into the car. Karl then thanks Leo for 'coming down' to his price, and that wine tastes better when you know you've got a good deal. "You certainly drive a hard bargain, Karl," Leo replies, watching him leave. He goes back into the office and smirks at Chloe. She knows he's been trying to offload that wine for a week, and Leo quips that it's lucky Karl knows nothing about wine. Leo then says he thought Chloe was heading home, but Chloe wanted to reply to an 'important' email first. Looking guilty, she gets up to leave. Leo follows her out into the restaurant area and says if she doesn't want to go home because she's avoiding Nicolette, she can just say so. Chloe insists that's not what she's doing, but Leo says it's what he's sensing.
LEO: I'm no relationship expert, right, but sometimes we want something serious and sometimes we want something fun.
CHLOE: Leo, I-
LEO: Take you and me for instance. I wanted something serious, and you wanted something fun. We both wanted different things so we went our separate ways. And then, well, you got your diagnosis so you needed serious and you married Pierce. And now you're just in this thing with Nicolette.
CHLOE: Yeah I am, and it's good.
LEO: Is it? Because I'm sensing you're just after something that's a bit more fun. And that's really tricky when the person you're with is carrying your brother's baby, that's about as serious as it gets.
CHLOE: Okay, you're right. It's not fun. I'm not even sure if I want to be in a relationship anymore. Is that what you want to hear?
Chloe looks stricken that she's admitted the truth.
